Worst Mexican food I had. Spinach Enchiladas were edible not great. Chile relleno is not cooked the typical way. They scramble egged in a pan like a tortilla they cooked the egg not sides and add the chile poblano. Tasteless. Beans were ok. We ask a side of guacamole. I wish I took a picture was 3 small scoops size of a dollar coin. They charge me 8.19 . The menu says guacamole side 1.99 so be aware we ask an itemized receipt because they don’t provide it. Waitress was friendly. But I Don’t recommend this place. 0 stars

Service was amazing, the girls there are wonderful, the food isn’t tho my boyfriend literally had school food and the guacamole was so bad it didn’t even taste like it and I paid 44 dollars for two entrées plus queso and drinks but my normal better restaurant I would never pay that much and that’s without the tip. Definitely should look elsewhere where for good Mexican food.

Street tacos are the best ever. Been a few times and I love it each time was over the top. Very delicious food.

The service when we went was exceptional. I enjoyed the complimentary queso and fresh salsa, chips were light and fresh. I got #7 which was an enchilada and taco. I got to choose what type of both I wanted and then asked for a tamale as well. This place is a nice find between Checotah Oklahoma City.

We are not locals - we stopped at Pepino's randomly traveling the interstate and it was a good choice-Excellent food and good service ❤️

I absolutely love this place, its the best food I've had. Great service, the food isn't drowning in grease like a lot of other places I've been to.

It wasn't horrible food, just very mild/bland. Not what you would expect in a Mexican food restaurant. Service was great though.

First off the water down cheese and the watery salsa had my stomach in knots.The waiter was friendly. Service was good but the food made my husband puke. We won’t be back here. They just was very greasy. I have always said I’ve never been to a bad Mexican restaurant, but unfortunately I had to say that with this one.

This is the best Mexican food in Okemah! I love coming here! I get a combination plate every time! My friends and I love this place!!! Great authentic rice and beans! Enchiladas, tacos, and breakfasts! Good margaritas and very cold beer. Free dessert.

Spike's Inessential Scholarly Discourse: This is authentic Mexican food. So, don't go there. Everyone working in the restaurant is Hispanic, from the dishwasher to the owner. Their recipes for "their version of traditional Mexican food" didn't come from a Betty Crocker cook book. What is that white sauce served with the salsa and chips here? I have encountered the same at several other small-town Mexican restaurants. No, it is NOT queso. It has no cheese taste. Here is the best description I can come up with; have you ever opened a can of Campbell's cream of chicken soup. That is what this stuff looks like; concentrated cream of chicken soup. It is a thick gelatinous, semi translucent liquid. It tastes almost like cream of chicken concentrate. When I have run across it in other restaurants, I have been mistakenly calling it bad watery queso. It has no resemblance to queso other than color. It is most commonly served in these traditional style restaurants. It does nothing for the meal other than make you wonder what you are eating. What is it??? As I usually do, I asked for salsa picante. Pepino's was a very different version. It was a warm bowl of tomatoes, with onions and smokey jalapenos simmered to a thick chunky stew. Very little heat or spice. Disappointing. The relleno I had was authentic and traditional, a poblano filled with lightly seasoned ground beef cooked on the flat top in a puddle of egg, then rolled up with the egg like a blanket. I am not a big fan of this traditional style relleno. My meal also came with diced potatoes grilled with onions and green peppers. Different. The tamales my wife had were good. The beef was lightly seasoned. The tamales weren't just big logs of masa with a small amount of filling. There was plenty of beef in them. Conclusion. Pepino's is not recommended.

Stopped by for lunch today. It was a short drive from OKC. Luckily we arrived anout 1130 because by 12 it was packed. The parking area is ample for most of the day but when it gets crowded the spaces disapear quickly. The service was excellent. We were greeted promptly and actually had our food within 10 minutes of ordering. The staff stopped by several times to ensure we were satisfied. The dining area was clean and the staff maintained it well. They had tables and booths to sit at. They also had a large area in the back for larger groups. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas Blanco with rice and beans. The food was filling but not overdone where you feel uncomfortable when you leave. The chips were good and served both salsa and quesa. The salsa tasted well but not too spicy. The quesa was a little runny but a decent taste. My overall experience was great and if I ever to take a trip back to Okemah I'll stop by again!

Great food, great service! The best bang for your buck. They even gave free cheese dip!

Very fast service Very polite staff. Clean. Outdated but clean. Food was great. The salsa is really good. I had the Pollo Verde. It's was out in 5 mins and very hot. I would of gave a 5 but liquor was at a minimum. Margarita was pretty good though. My waitress was the only white girl. Lol. Definitely will be back.

My husband and I enjoy going into this restaurant! The food is great and the owners and staff are always friendly and inviting! They are always accommodating.

Chili Relleno was horrible. No "Mexican" flavor to anything. Bland queso, nasty salsa. The chips were at least edible. This was a hopeful stop on a long trip. No hope for this one. Find someplace else.

Thankfully I had a coupon. But still, it wasn't worth the trip. The food was bland and the place is sketchy. Could not eat it.

I love this place! Amazing service, strong drinks, tons of great tasting food! Super fun atmosphere and air conditioning on COLD in the Summer!

Good food for a one stop Okie town in Okeemah. Do not propose to your gal in this place because she will never let you forget it. In other words, ambience is lacking but who needs that when food is on point? I got the enchiladas with green sauce and asked for the spicy warm salsa in addition to the red for pre-meal chip dunking. Very pleased. Highly encourage a visit to this unpretentious spot. And don't forget to say hello to Pepino as he checks you out!

The good: They are attentive with service. The are friendly. Good proportion to the dollar. The bad: They charge $5.00 for anyone who shares. The salsa is medium heat. The queso is not my taste, too bland. None of the food is spicy.

This is excellent Mexican food. Conveniently located right off of I 40 in Okemah OK. Great service fresh tasting. I like cheese enchiladas and they are some of the best. The guacamole is very good. Save room for the complimentary sopapilla , yum yum.

This was a diamond in the rough. It looked closed from the outside but inside, so vibrant. The beautiful aromas as soon as you walk in are only a 'taste' of the yum food! I got my veggie and bean fix with fresh and incredibly soft tortillas!! Their sopapilla was DIVINE! Honestly, I'm so grateful this place is doing its magic in an otherwise barren seeming location! Thank you, thank you!

A friend and I met here for lunch. We had not seen each other in years and picked this area as a half way stopping point. The atmosphere is definitely not fancy but it was so comfortable & welcoming. We were able to sit for a couple of hours and visit without loud music or noise. And yes we did leave a larger tip for sitting at the table longer. It had a quick turn over with great service. I was a little disappointed they didn't have shredded beef but the steak fajitas were wonderful. We ordered off the lunch menu and were surprised at the amount of food. Good food. The restaurant is located right off the freeway in a little strip mall. Don't let the outside decor scare you away. The inside was nice and clean. With great service.

To the point, Pepino's had some good good, not too spicy, great flavor. What stood out was the service. Our waitress was on top of everything, refilled drinks often, attentive to everything we needed or wanted, food service was fast.

Traveling through and stopped for lunch on a tip from the maintenance guy at the Loves across the highway. Typical Mexican looking restaurant, nothing fancy. I was seated immediately and had complimentary chips, salsa, and queso placed in front of me before I could even look over the menu. Took a while for the waitress to show up but they were busy and she apologized immediately. I had my chips and stuff to curb the hunger. Ordered the green chili enchiladas but she let me try one spinach enchilada and one green chili. I'd never had spinach enchiladas before but it was delicious, as was the green chili one. They came with a white cheese sauce, rice, and beans. They also had a spicy salsa that tasted like roasted poblano and came out wArm. Overall excellent food and great value. I will be back if given the chance.

Stopped here for dinner on a cross country trip. Easy access off I-40. Parking lot had room for our motorhome. Food and service were good. We're from Los Angeles and felt the food was authentic Mexican. And....I loved the Corona beer served in a frozen scooner with lime and salt all the way around the rim.

Had lunch here during work travel in this area. It was recommended by some locals. Upon seating, I was served with chips, queso, and salsa as well as flour tortillas. Service was quick during the beginning of the lunch rush. My server was good and had a sense of humor - I asked where the restroom was and he jokingly noted it was removed and then said jk and pointed me to the women's restroom - back to back jokes lol. I had the 3 beef taco lunch plate. It was fresh and well seasoned. After I finished my lunch, I was offered the complimentary hot and fresh sopapilla with honey! Overall my experience was great.

Overall the food, service, and dining experience here was excellent. I went for the Mexican dinner, which included two enchiladas, a tamale, and crispy taco. The beer was excellent in a cold frosted glass. I would definitely recommend this spot to others, and if I have an opportunity I'll be back!

This place is terrible and will not stand by their product. I had a call in order which was burned and terrible. I called to talk to the manager since I don't live in the same town. The mgr said he would make it good but when I was back thru that town a couple of weeks later he said he had already replaced it and would not. He must have so many complaints he can't keep them straight since all he wanted to do was argue. I would be careful of call in orders

We live in Okemah but this is our favorite Mexican restaurant we have ever found. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is always great. They are very consistent. I would recommend anybody wanting some good Mexican food to stop by Pepino's. They are also located right off of I-40, so it is very easy to get to.

Okemah, OK doesn't have very many good restaurants, but this is one good restaurant. I had a fajita salad and sopapilla. It was very good. The place was clean and service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to OKC. Service was very good and quick. Food was very good. Chips were very good, two kinds of salsa and queso was a nice surprise. If you like jalapeños, order chiles toreados-- they were very good!

Amazing! We came in on our way to the lake with four hungry kiddos! Restaurant was busy and our server was on her game! Food came out fast and delicious!! Highly recommend! We will definitely be back!

This is a perfect example of why you don't try a place based on a single review. I'd love to get back in the kitchen and see if there are any spices in the pantry. Bland, bland, bland. Even Taco Bell's food is tastier. Playing Hispanic music and displaying art of the culture does not make you a Mexican restaurant. Should have waited until I reached Amarillo so I could at least get some decent Tex Mex. Gave it one star for cleanliness and service.

My hubs and I ate here during the Woody Guthrie festival in July. It was very busy but we had excellent service, the food arrived quickly, and it was delish! I was pleasantly surprised and would eat here again.

Driving to Mo. Needed to feed the family googl mapped restaurants. This one came up. So happy it did! Super food! Super friendly! Super clean and super fast!!! We will be stopping again!

Was on I-40 traveling and we stopped at this great little place..was a little busy..got seated and waited on right away...chips, queso and salsa. They had homemade tortillas that were hot and fresh...delish..had the sampler platter and hot wings. I every thing was good...waitress was friendly and attentive...go again if in this area
