Peppas Jerk Chicken - Park Slope

Came on a Sunday afternoon expecting jerk chicken greatness. Instead got greeted by cold staff, chicken so dry that I need to file a water request from the UN, plantains that fought my teeth, underwhelming jerk sauce, and they even packed my food to-go without asking, while I was clearly planning to eat in. It’s edible but this place does not deserve a 4-star rating. Mid.

Yesterday I started a no cabs diet and stumbled by this Peppas here on Park Slope and dam it was amazing, the place is clean and very tidy well put together, a tad bit small but I love cozy. I ordered the stew oxtail with my sides being steamed Cabbage, spinach and fried plantain, it was mouth watering, seasoned to perfection, oxtail well done, with the use of a fork it’s practically falling off the bone, juicy delightful flavor and exciting to the palette. The side when mixed with the gravy came together very well. Walton point and finished with a cup or Sorrel. Today I give them a ( 5 )five star rating. Will definitely be back to indulge in their other culinary delights.

I’ve gone here before not just this location and absolutely loved them but tonight I ordered at home and I’m so disappointed in what I received. I ordered a jerk chicken and curry dinner. The jerk was dry and the curry was UNCOOKED. Thankfully I check my food when eating out because my son almost at this curry, unacceptable. This is playing with people’s health. It was because I took a bit of the curry and it felt off.

Very very bad experience!! A waste of $80+ dollars and just terrible tasting food. Chicken was old and had no seasoning at all. Pork plate was full of bones and fat/ understood pork is a fatty meat but overall very terrible !! I would never ever eat from here again, or spend my hard earned money in this restaurant.

i dont usually do this but i had too, ive went to different peppas locations but this one ! may be the most horriable! i ordered ( jerk chicken, jerk pork) alone how was it both orders was more then the meals when i wanted protien only! ordered oxtails / beef pattie and a medium jerk chicken w/ rice n peas! 83.83$ the food was horriable! coming fromma jamaican this was NOT it! the pork was fatty! the chicken lacked any kind of spice n seasoning! just a bad bad bad exprience!! the lady at the counter was nice but couldnt explain how jerk pork alone is 17.50 but the meal is 16.00$ she says i just work here ! bad exprience ! after u swiped my card u tell me prettymuch like oh well! i felt taken advantage of and mislead!! never again no peppas ive ever had tasted this bad! fire di chef and quickly

Stepped into a wonderful atmosphere, Good Reggae Music in the background, the Food is what we are here for. Well Peppa's did let us down, Fresh Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat, The Rasta Pasta was delicious. We will definitely be coming back!

This store have really bad vibes. I thought it would be different because we're in park slop, but whenever I go to an island place, the food might be good, but the vibes attitude always bad., The tall lady, dark skin with black black hat. No good, the food might be okay. I'm only picking up food for someone. I must say, enter at your own risk.

This place was cozy, colorful and clean. Smells amazing in here, you almost don’t want to leave. Service was fast, knowledgeable and friendly. The Jerk chicken with rice and peas and plantains was so good that my friend couldn’t even wait until he was no longer driving to eat his plate of food. The daily lunch special is where it’s at. These portions are wonderful since they jam any of the sizes they have for you to choose from.

Lunch pick up around 1 a.m. ish. Was welcomely greeted when I walked in to this small yet cozy eatery. I ordered a large Just (Jerk) Chicken with extra sauce. Escovitch fish meal which came with plantains, rice and peas, and spinach. Everything was still warm and tasty when I arrived home. The order was packaged nicely. Definitely, nice portions for the prices. Place is clean. Staff is friendly, informative, and service was amazing. It takes about 10 minutes for the fish since they make it to order. I will soon be back and may have them do some catering orders for me( usually order from the location on flatbush). Pop in if you ever get in the area and want some hot warming food.

Nice spot serving traditional Jamaican dishes. I know the other restaurants in Brooklyn, but this was my first time visiting this particular one. Upon arrival the restaurant is very clean, and the service was fast. There is a dine in area as well. The woman who took my order was very patient , and personable. I ordered a brown stew fish, cabbage and 3 small soups. Everything came out to about $49. The chicken soup was very good . The cabbage was also very good. The fish on the other hand was very salty and not worth the $20 charge (fish with no sides). I get it the area etc etc but for the price the food should be top notch. The other establishments are much better. Would I return.....I don't think so .

I was looking for a last place to eat before I fly back home and read this place was good. Food was given to me in a container, yet I was eating there at the restaurant. Food was mid.. was barely flavorful, and the plantains were super cold as the container was just left open. The oxtail was good though, but needed flavor. I asked for a side of jerk sauce and literally tasted like bbq sauce.. I was confused. The girl gave me another one but it was the same thing.. not sure what the point was. It's okay as a quick late night place, but not as something you really are craving. definitely will try something else next time.

This was $18. One piece of a wing (cut up into 2) and a small bit of rice and veggies, this was in a tiny tray. It looks bigger in the photo but it is less than half the size of a regular tray. I also got a fried dough thing. It was decent and sweet. Prettt overpriced.

Good food and good service. If you want some tasty food, get the jerk pork and festival. You won't be disappointed.

The best experience I've had in any Peppas location. Everything tasted fresh, even the plantains which is rare. The jerk chicken was cooked just right with that charred texture you want. The restaurant is clean and welcoming and the service was friendly. And they're not stingy with the oxtail gravy. This location was on point in every way today and I will be back.

I placed an order with them via Uber eats. Just based off the food I received I can tell this place is VERY UNSANITARY. I ordered a cow heel soup, jerk chicken and Festival on the side. The cow heel soup had SEVERAL STRANDS of hair in it. Jerk chicken was dry and the festival was hard to bite through. The only positive I have is that they sealed the food well for delivery. Otherwise I will be filing a complaint with the board of health.

I've lived in Park Slope my entire life, so I was thrilled when Peppas opened a location near my house. I've always had great experiences picking up food in-store, so for my most recent birthday, I decided to have Peppas cater the celebration--and they did not disappoint! The food arrived on time, hot, and fresh. We ordered all my favorites: coconut curry shrimp, jerk salmon, sweet chili chicken wings, appetizer-sized beef and veggie patties, and, of course, their incredible jerk chicken. Everything was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and a huge hit with my guests. Peppas continues to deliver amazing food and service, and I couldn't be happier to have them in the neighborhood!

Wish I could give them no stars. Horrible!!!!!! please anyone reading this don't waste your money here. I have literally been to all the peppas in Brooklyn and I don't know how the franchise lets this place stay open or let them use those name. Got a large order of rice and peas with jerk chicken. Ohhh boy. Legit 2 pieces of chicken cut up, no flavor, tasted old like it's been sitting there for a lonnnnnng while. Rice and peas should have been called mashed rice and peas so damn mushy. Plantains were so dry the Sahara desert would have been jealous. Only decent this was the cabbage and surprised that they didn't F it up. Plate was so small it was like a kids meal. Never again. Please stay away far awY. This place should shut down or not use the peppas name. Again stay away.

What a huge bummer this was! Jerk chicken is extremely dry and boney with very little flavor. Platter consisted of mostly rice and peas which also were not seasoned well. Everything sort of dry and/or mushy in texture. And the plaintains? DRY. Like how can you mess up the best part of a jerk platter? Space is also extremely cramped with hard chairs and people let their kids just run wild in here. It seems to be sort of a hang out for Caribbean Park Slope nannies so if you want to hear exhausted women yelling at noisy little kids this is the spot for you. Very uncomfortable dining experience. If you want actual good jerk in Brooklyn I would recommend De Hot Pot or The Islands(the best!).

We tried the jerk chicken while we were watching the Pride Parade and was blown away by how good it was! So we decided to go back to try their other food items for lunch and we were just as pleased with our other food choices. My husband tried the jerk pork, my daughter had the curry goat and I had the oxtail stew. The meals comes with 2 sides and you get to chose from a variety of sides including different types of veggies. I was surprised how much I liked the curry goat given I'm not a big goat fan because of their gamey taste but I didn't get any of that from the dish. The oxtail was a bit dry but the flavor was really nice. The jerk pork was also very flavorful but I think I liked the chicken better. They have these juice drinks that are super yummy! Definitely try it. The staff is very friendly and nice. It's a pretty small shop with only a few tables so not good for groups more than 3-4 people. A nice addition to Park Slope for sure and I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu.

The food is very overpriced and very plain. The platter is very small for it to be priced like that. I genuinely thought that it was going to taste good because oh hose pricey it was. WAS I WRONG

Delcious food and warm friendly atmosphere. Im always greeted with a warm fruendky hello. Never left waiting. "Ill be with you soon" is a meaningful acknowledgement of my wait time

I absolutely love Peppa's Park Slope for so many reasons! From their delicious Peppa's pasta and jerk salmon to my all-time favorite sweet chili chicken, everything is simply the best. Not only do I order from Peppa's for myself, but they also catered a huge corporate event I organized, and wow, did they deliver! The food was such a hit that attendees were asking for foil to take leftovers home, which *never* happens! They handled everything, from the amazing food to the liquor, and even brought sorrel, such a thoughtful touch. If you're looking for catering, ask for Frances. She is absolutely AMAZING and works closely with you to meet your budget and ensure every detail is perfect. I can't thank the entire Peppa's Park Slope team enough for their incredible service and food. I'm already looking forward to having them cater another corporate event this year!

The food is amazing and it's a beautifully designed place and the Peppas staff is wonderful. The food was really big and flavorful‼ overall this is an amazing place and I would recommend to all of Park Slope.

I was the first order for the end of the year (12/31/24). I spent over $120 dollars on 2 transactions. I'd order 2 beef patties, 1 jerk, 1 spinach, and 1 veggie a total of 5 patties at $4. I only received 4 patties...missing a beef patty. I should have checked the bag before leaving. However, I was on the phone and the woman that took my order was looking at the receipt getting the patties. How can you get it wrong or ever forget a patty...when you are looking at the receipt. Make a long story short I only received 4 patties, and I'd tried calling the Peppas Jerk at 718-757-9756 @ 12:16pm and no one answered. If someone answered the phone, then I would not have left this review. I was the first order (you are looking at the receipt) there was no way to get is wrong or forget so I'm led to believe it was intentional. Ever way bad business.

This place fantastic! I got the oxtail plate with rice and beans and spinach and then a side of jerk chicken. The servings were huge and fed me for 4 meals! The flavor of all the food was delicious and well seasoned. The oxtail was melt in your mouth amazing. The sauces: jerk and bbq were outstanding. Finally, the service was awesome. They were kind, patient (as I was there for the first time), helpful and just totally on it. Run don't walk to this gem. I'm planning to return very, very soon.

Stay away. The jerk chicken was flavorless and the customer service sucks. The women behind the counter stare at you as if they saw a ghost. Not sure what that was about.No formal hello or thank you come again. Clearly, these workers hate their job and it also shows in the flavor of the food. Doubt if this is authentic jerk.

I got barbecue chicken with plantains and rice. It was apart of their $10 lunch meal, which was cheap and satisfactory. The chicken and barbecue sauce were awesome. However, I was a little disappointed when there weren't any beans.

We had food delivered from Peppas Jerk Chicken Park Slope tonight and it was outstanding! Jerk Chicken with rice, peas and cabbage was tender, tasty and delicious and the Coconut Curry Shrimp was very clean, fresh and had the amazing flavor that only coconut curry can have. Definitely ask for extra sauce! Thank you Peppas Park Slope!

Great food, nice ambiance and very friendly staff! I brought some friends from out of town and they enjoyed the food too! Janice, from the restaurant took excellent care of us!

Most of the time it is good because that's the only thing I get, but the service potion is very small for a large dinner, and I'm left with too much rice and not enough chicken. Otherwise, it tastes pretty good.

So glad to see a Peppas opening so close to my home!! BUT, jerk chicken and plantains both hard and dry and barely edible. Rice and peas just fine. Disappointed!
