This review is pretty simple, this is easily some of the best Sichuan food I have had on the east coast. This really took me back to my time studying abroad and I cannot recommend it more to anyone in the area. The Singapore noodles and the Dan Dan noodles were both phenomenal, everything came out still steaming hot and the house made chili oil is fantastic. The dumplings are also amazing. You will not regret trying their delicious food!

Google
Loved our experience! We got there relatively early right after they opened and were seated immediately. We were very lucky, because within 20 minutes the entire restaurant was full and was standing room only (on a Tuesday!). The service was quick and easy. The owner gave us her recommendations and we were given a clear explanation of the spice level for the entrées we ordered. We ordered one appetizer and three entrées to share among the two of us, and we had plenty left over to take home. 10 out of 10 for food and 12 out of 10 for service!

If you're looking for genuine, bold, and incredibly delicious Chongqing cuisine, look no further. This noodle house is an absolute gem. I ordered the Spicy Rice Noodles with lamb slices and spicy dumplings. It was a flavor explosion. The rice noodles were perfectly chewy, the broth was complex and deeply savory, and the chili oil in both dishes had that authentic numbing sensation that is so hard to find outside of China. It was truly a transportive experience. What made the visit even more special was the owner. She was so warm and friendly, genuinely caring about our experience. She checked on me multiple times to make sure the flavor was to my liking and seemed to take real pride in her food. That level of personal care is so rare and so appreciated. Do not miss this place. I will definitely be regulars from now on!

Google
This place qualifies as a hole-in-the-wall restaurant; it is a very cozy establishment with only a few picnic benches for seating. But what it lacks in space, it more than makes up for in its food. The place is run by a wife and husband team who apparently--and appreciatedly--want to share the flavors of their homeland with their adoptive country. We ordered the dumplings to start and a noodle soup as the main. You can specify how spicy you want your food to be. Be careful: the very hot is authentic and only for the truly initiated. For a no-frills yet genuine taste of authentic Chinese cuisine, come to the Pepper House.

Google
From the moment we walked into this family owned restaurant, the owner was attentive, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Our server patiently walked us through some of the house specialties, offering fantastic recommendations that perfectly matched what we were craving! The food was made with LOVE! The noodles are clearly the star of the show. We tried the Beef Noodle Soup, which was a masterpiece of simplicity and flavor—the broth was rich and savory. The Dan Dan noodles were equally impressive, with a spicy, nutty sauce that had just the right amount of kick. Every dish we ordered was a testament to the kitchen's skill and commitment to authentic flavors. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was beautiful, and the taste was simply unforgettable. The Pepper House delivers a truly fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The combination of exceptional service and truly delicious food makes it a must-visit for any fan of Chinese cuisine!! Thanks Yen! We will definitely be back❤️❤️✨✨

Google
This was such a delightful experience. My Chinese girlfriend and I look for authentic flavors and this place nailed it. We ordered a variety of dishes and each one of them was exquisite. The lady that helped us (I think the owner) was very helpful and made my girlfriend feel at home. You can see how delicious the food looks below and it tastes even better. Thank you and we will be back.

Google
Pepper House has been on my list of places to check out and I was not disappointed. The service was helpful and friendly. Even the table of two sitting behind us were so helpful with choosing what to get. My son and I got the Beef dry pot and the beef noodle soup. The flavor, serving size, and taste were on point. We even had leftovers which is always a plus. So it's well worth the money here. I'll be back to try something different next time. Thank you Pepper House ❤️❤️

Google
Tiny bit mighty! This place is a hidden gem! There isn’t a lot of seating but folks just share tables. We got the dumplings, shrimp dry pot and chicken cold noodles. Everything was good but the dumplings and chicken cold noodles were our favorites.

Yelp
Stop what you're doing and order from The Pepper House--right now! I actually created a Yelp account just so I could write this review, and that should tell you everything you need to know. I've traveled the world and eaten Asian cuisine in nearly every country and state I've visited (and that's a lot), but nothing--nothing--comes close to The Pepper House. This is the kind of restaurant I'd take the late Anthony Bourdain to. Every dish bursts with deep, authentic flavor. My stomach begged me to stop, but my mouth and hands refused to listen. The smashed cucumbers and beef noodle soup alone are reason enough to come--but then you taste the Singapore noodles and those unbelievable dumplings, and it's pure obsession. The Pepper House skips the frills and focuses on what matters: flavor. Every bite is better than the last, with just the right amount of that addictive, mouth-tingling spice that keeps you chasing the next bite. It's the kind of meal you think about for days. Even the owner, who I only met briefly, was warm, friendly, and radiated pride in her food. This place isn't just worth a visit--it's worth a detour, a road trip, a pilgrimage.

Yelp
The food is so good. When you first arrive, the area looks really sketchy lol. From the outside I want sure if I wanted eat there. However.... I've heard so many great things I had to try them for myself. The restaurant is very quaint, with maybe 5 tables total. The woman who took my order was nice and explained things to me on the menu. My favorite dish that I would come back time and time again for is the Smashed cucumber salad.. OMG.. why would it be so good... slightly sweet, and nice kick of spice from the chili oil. Just perfect.

Yelp
We were on a road trip and happened to be in the area when we heard that this place made 11th best Chinese restaurant out of 100 in the US. A little hard to believe a lil' ol place here in Maryland can get that high, but we were intrigued enough to stop by. It's definitely cozy... and cozy is codeword for small. It's small to the point where it's a little bit uncomfortable since people are waiting in line right behind you whjle you're eating. Food came out pretty quickly, which was nice. However, I was a little disappointed to see that the dumplings were using factory-made wrappers rather than hand-made ones. And yes, I'm spoiled, my mom makes dumplings with handmade wrappers, so I judge restaurants for using factory wrappers. It's not the same. And I get it, this is a small operation, mostly for takeout, so they need to run a tight ship. The chongqing xiaomian were piping hot and absolutely delicious, and same with the mala dry pot. My partner, on the other hand, found all the food to be quite spicy and could barely handle it, although she really loved the soup even though she thought it was really spicy, she couldn't stop drinking the soup. I thought it was fine! It could have been spicier, haha. 11th best is a bold claim that is hard to beat considering how many delicious restaurants are out there. All in all, Pepper House is a great stop, so don't hesitate to stop by.

Yelp
I finally was able to try this restaurant today. We got there right as it opened so we could get a seat. We ordered the dan dan noodles, shrimp dry pot, beef noodle soup and spicy chili wontons. My favorite was the dan dan noodles and beef noodle soup. The flavor was tasty and not super spicy. This is a casual place where you order at the counter and either sit at the table or picnic table. I will definitely come back to try the other dishes and the prices are reasonable.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place since a guy from work recommended. If I'd never had good Sichuan before I'd probably think the food was better. Everything had a slightly off flavor. I was thinking it was because we were eating hot food out of so much plastic. SO MUCH plastic. The smashed cucumber was good but it wasn't smashed. The dan dan noodles weren't bad but were swimming in oil. The beef noodle soup was ok. For 2 of us the bill was $68 which surprised me. The dumplings in chili oil were tasty. I'd rate it 3.5 stars. The spouse didn't like the food. So prob won't be back. Service was great and friendly. Tiny place and hard to nab a table when busy.

Yelp
This restaurant made it on Yelps 11th best Chinese restaurant list. The Szechuan food here is next level. Located in a small shopping center off I40. When you enter they have 2 long tables. 2 walls have all of the recent awards and accolades. My friends stopped by on a busy weekday. We ordered everything from the Chengdu dry hot pot, Tianjiao beef noodle soup, Tianjiao lamb noodle soup, Sichuan savory cold jelly, garlic smashed cucumber, Chengdu Dan Dan noodles, and the Chengdu wontons in chili oil. Wow everything was delicious. The noodles, broth and hot sauces were so fresh. Even on a hot summer day we enjoyed our soups. The broths were rich in flavor and the meats were so tender. This place is well deserving of all of their awards. I will definitely be back to try some of their other traditional dishes.

Yelp
Rated one of the best and for good reason. Came here after it was rated one of the best spots on Yelp. Got their beef dry pot and savory spicy cold jelly. Honestly a great pairing. I really liked how they did not skimp out on the spice level at all, without sacrificing the flavor. Honestly it was worth the hype. Service was super friendly and accommodating. Warning- the space is smaller, so be prepared to share your table with strangers or take your food to go.

Yelp
We came in around 2 on a Saturday for good sichuan food and we definitely found it. They were busy and the restaurant is small but we managed to grab a couple seats. We ordered Pork dumplings in chili oil, Dan Dan noodles, and Beef noodle soup. All were delicious. What made the dishes stand out was their homemade chili oil. It had a tiny hint of sweetness to it and the Sichuan peppercorns tickled the throat without being painfully spicy. We liked it so much that we purchased a jar to take home. The woman taking orders at the counter was a rockstar, also serving food and cleaning the tables. She also checked in to see how we liked the food.

Yelp
What can you say about a place that offers amazing food and service that makes you feel like you've walked into your favorite aunts house for a meal? There is a reason why this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the country (11th best if you're curious). The owner makes every guest feel welcome safe and she is clearly so excited to share her food. Go before Phil Rosenthal visits and puts it on his show!! Go and experience this amazing owner's hospitality and the food she proudly serves.

Yelp
There was nothing subtle about this place, nor what I expect this type of food to be. The name is Pepper House, and it bears keeping in mind that the English word refers not just to the many varieties of chili pepper or bell pepper, but also black pepper, and even more intriguingly the Sichuan pepper native to this cuisine. The place is tiny and is dominated by one communal table, which I figured was worth putting up with in exchange for the chance to try a vegetarian mala hot pot. Ordering a peach tea was a good decision, although water did not come by default, and this is the kind of place where you might need some water. My hot pot came in a to go container, and despite the fact that I had not eaten much, it was so substantial in terms of pure volume that I did not quite finish it. I asked for extra spicy and insisted that I did not drive from some six hours away to get an average spice level. The result would be best described as caustic, but for those that can tolerate the heat, the flavor experience is profound. The base pleasures of salty and savory flavors clash with a weird astringent taste, and a hint of numbing sensation. While these places have many non-vegetarian ingredients that are bizarre from an American perspective, I found the vegetarian bowl quite nice. In addition to two different kinds of tofu, it did have some seaweed, lotus roots, and what seem to be thinly sliced radishes. Also plenty of Napa and a little bit of rice on the side. I got a bit of a taste of some of my party's dishes that were not ordered at the maximum spice level. These were also quite tasty. I did didn't see the house chili oil for sale, but if I had, I would've bought some.

Yelp
I was attracted by the high ratings and decided to try this small restaurant's Sichuan food. I've never seen a decent restaurant serve dine-in food with plastic and paper containers. Very sloppy. The overall food felt awful, nothing was made with care. The noodles had dry, tasteless beef chunks, the fried egg didn't look freshly cooked but like some frozen pre-processed stuff. The chicken even had ice crystals inside that hadn't fully melted. I only took a few bites of the noodles and chicken before giving up. I rarely leave bad reviews for small family-run restaurants since I understand it's their livelihood. But this one was just terrible. If the food shows no respect for customers, then customers have no reason to respect the restaurant either. The sheer number of glowing reviews compared to such awful food makes me doubt their authenticity--most of those five-star accounts look like they were just newly registered.

Yelp
Whoa, I'm really slacking! Went on 3/5 and here it is the 17th - Happy St. Patrick's Day! Met my friend for our monthly lunch & this was highly recommended by her hubs, who lunches out a lot. Very attentive service and the food came out very quickly. We were the only two people in for a bit, but we started just before noon and it was filling up by the time we left. Lots of takeout was picked up, as well. I had never heard of Chengdu Dan Dan noodles but it sounded just right for a cold, blustery day. I got it at "normal" spice level, which was perfect for me. And the owner (I assume) showed me the proper technique to blend all the flavors, which involved vigorously stirring the bottom with chopsticks and then doing a lifting motion to turn the noodles over several times. It. Was. Amazing. As she said, mixing it the right way blended the oils, spices and herbs into a one-of-a-kind flavor. The meat was seasoned just right, and the vegetables were tender crisp, with the noodles perfectly al dente. Of course it was a huge bowl, so I took half of it home. Tip: they only have bottled water, but you can take your water bottle inside & they will fill it for you. And if you're trying to stop using plastics, bring your own cutlery! They are so accommodating, I'm sure everything would be fine. As someone else mentioned, the parking lot right in front of it is very limited because it's along the side of a converted motel. My friend and I both got lucky with spaces right in front, which was lucky because it really rained just as we were leaving! This is another place I would frequent if it was closer to home.

Yelp
It was our first time visiting, and we left feeling full and happy! The service was wonderful, and the food was amazing. We can't wait to return!

Yelp
delicious food, quick for takeout, small inside but a good amount of tables. favorite dishes are - cabbage, dan dan noodles, beef noodle soup, dumplings in chili oil, sichuan cold noodle. the chicken noodles, mung bean jelly, and wontons were also solid.

Yelp
Pepper house was named the #11 best Asian restaurant in the country on a Yelp list! Immediately needed to try it upon finding that out. My husband and I visited on a Saturday evening around 6:30/7 ish. It's a very small restaurant with shared seating. We placed our order at the counter and were able to snag two seats. While waiting for our food, it was a pretty hectic scene with lots of people coming in for takeout and waiting to order food/sit down in such a small area. (This isn't a complaint, but detailing how busy they are in a small space!) At one point, they stopped taking dine in orders because the wait would be too long for those waiting to sit down. On to the food - they got it out as quickly as they could based on how busy they were. We tried the Dan Dan noodles, dumplings in chili oil, shrimp dry pot, and lamb rice noodles. My favorite was definitely the Dan Dan noodles! As we ate, the staff came around frequently to check on how we were doing and how we liked the food. They also give you instructions to mix everything so that you are getting the best experience/flavors. If you visit in the near future, be patient as they are feeling the positive effects of some of the attention! And it is well-deserved, the food was delicious and we will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I tried the Dan Dan noodles (extra veggie, no pork) and choquin style noodles (veggie) ... I just loved the dan dan noodles. It is my favorite so far. I love their chili oil infused broth. I'll definitely be back

Yelp
This place was small and the outside doesn't look very appealing but you step inside and it's a small cute little family style restaurant. You are able to dine in but it's 2 long tables and a bench so you will be sharing a seat. The food was absolutely amazing. They are #11 in the US for Chinese food and now I feel like I need to taste the other 10 cause this was sooo delicious. I got the wontons and beef malatang. It takes a little time for the food but well worth the wait. It was so much food and so flavorful. 10/10 highly recommended. I will definitely be back! I can't wait to be back lol.

Yelp
After all of the buzz that Pepper House has been getting, I was eager to check it out. I ordered carry out/delivery on a weekday night and my order arrived without issues. I went with the Chengdu Dan Dan Noodles, vegetarian style with normal spice level. I'm not sure if it was the vegetarian version or my spice level selection, but the dish didn't pack as much punch as I was expecting. The classic Sichuan flavor profile was subtle at best. That being said, the noodles themselves and other dish components were fresh and flavorful, with the noodles cooked to perfection. Certainly tasty enough for me to order again/differently!
google avatar

Kang Z.

Yelp
Pepper House lived up to the hype. I started with the chili wontons, and they were tender and flavorful in a perfectly spiced chili oil. For the main, I went with the beef dry pot, and it was absolutely packed with flavor; spicy, savory, and loaded with little bursts of aromatics. The portions were generous and prices were reasonable; ~ 25 per person. The space was small, only enough for maybe 10 people to eat. Most people took food to go, but they have two lunch cafeteria style tables for eat in. Service is barebones, but they were nice and quick with the food.

Yelp
This is a cozy little spot in the Bethany shopping center off of route forty. The service was fast and the food was hot when we picked it up. The restaurant took the time to individually plastic wrap everything. I appreciated the care they took for our order. Now onto the food. I know this place is close to a five star and the Dan Dan noodles were certainly that. Rich and spicy flavor and the chili crisp added the perfect texture that it needed. As for the dumplings that everyone raves about......the chili oil was fantastic but the actual dumpling was not my favorite. I know I know, everyone's going to say "you're crazy Mike!!!!" Haha yeah I know. I thought the inside lacked the flavor the chili oil had. Keys be honest, I could had bathed myself in that chili oil but the dumpling, not so much. The dry pot wasn't my style either but I can understand why people like it. This place is still very good and you should try it!!!

Jamie L.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Pepper House. The staff was friendly and amazing beef malatang.

Yelp
Came across a review video on Instagram a while back and this place has been on my hit list. Finally made it by today and it was WELL WORTH THE DRIVE! So delicious! My husband and I had the smash cucumber, Tianjiao Beef Noodles and Chengdu Dumplings in Chili Oil Sauce. The cucumbers were one of the best things I've ever eaten. So delicious and fresh. The spicy level was perfect. The lady who worked the front desk was so accommodating and patience. I will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Came here with family and had a great experience! The food is delicious, service is quick. The place is fairly small and we were a bigger group (7) so we were lucky to nab a table. We got the beef noodle soup, tan tan noodles, malatang and stir fry noodles. All of it was great. THe waitress told us to mix the tantan noodles properly and even did it for us when we weren't fast enough. She did it in a very kind way and showed that she really cared about us having the best experience! Overall would recommend, but I do wish they would use real dishes instead of to go containers. The malatang in particular was hard to eat.

Yelp
This place is freakin awesome, small but very clean. Expect the dinning room to be full and you might have to sit next to a stranger at one of the 3 tables. The soup/noodles are the best I have had in the US. Quick service and a small menu makes this an easy list of savory choices
google avatar

Yelp
It says it in the name of- pepper! If you like spicy, this is the spot for you. Small space, large portions!

Yelp
Tried this place after seeing reviews on TikTok and that it was rated #11 Best Chinese in the US. I also live for under the radar, no frills restaurants just as much as fine dining. Pepper House deserved my first Yelp review! We got the Dan Dan noodles and Singapore House Noodles. The menu is relatively small, but has lots of options, including for those who are vegetarian. The food was phenomenal, the communal style tables made it feel homey- but the above and beyond service is what really makes this place special. The owner took the time to make sure I got all the intended flavors at the bottom of my noodles by coming over and mixing it up for me. We were checked on multiple times and everyone who dines in was treated the same- with care and attention. I'm already considering having it for dinner again today. And it's definitely my new fave Sichuan (Chinese) spot.

Yelp
Stopped in today for dinner with a few friends and had an amazing experience. The food was amazing and Yen was an incredible host. This restaurant is warm and friendly with incredible food. This had to be the most authentic chineese culinary experience I ever had. In a time where customer service has been forgotten The Pepper House has not. The customer service is over the top and the pride they show in their food is commendable. If you have a chance to eat here do yourself a huge favor and stop in you will not be sorry. Outstanding!!!!!

Yelp
Met a friend here for a weekday lunch. It's a cute and modern little storefront, I think family-owned, quick friendly service and seating for around 20, with two tables for about six each and the rest along the wall or window. On this day, the place was full! There's a lot of parking right out front in the Bethany 40 Shopping Center, though the lot can get a bit crowded during happy hour at a pub across the way. We loved the tender chengdu pork dumplings, and the vegetarian malatang, a combination of potatoes, tofu, a little seaweed, bok choy, celery, cabbage, and generous amounts of crunchy lotus root, served with rice. We asked for the mildest spiciness, and it was warming and lasting but not overpowering. The flavors were wonderful.
google avatar

Jamie F.

Yelp
Food is amazing!!! Service is awesome! Very small place very limited seating. It's definitely more of a carryout. I got the chili oil dumplings, so good!!! I also got the beef dry pot which is a lot!!! Probably can split it with 3 people. I asked for mild and it still was spicy to me. I wish it wasn't so far from me because I would be a regular here. I'm definitely going back. My friend got the Dan Dan noodles which is so good and I'm definitely getting that when I go back. Which I would had taken pictures.

Yelp
I was not the biggest fan of Pepper house. Although the food came out very promptly and the staff was very friendly, the food was overly oily with very low quality meat. The soup broth seemed to be just oil and it was hard for me to stomach down. The pigs ear was better than the noodles but still pretty oily. Overall, I don't think I will be coming back.

Yelp
Pepper House is easily one of my favorite authentic Sichuan mom-and-pop shops! Every time I visit, I make sure to order the Chengdu Dan Dan Noodles and Chili Wontons. The Dan Dan Noodles are simply perfect, with their spicy and savory flavors. The rich, aromatic sauce coats the noodles beautifully, making each bite a delight! Sometimes the owner will come over to mix your noodles for you because she says it tastes the best when it is thoroughly mixed. She was right, it tasted SO delicious!! One time, when I mentioned I was fasting and couldn't have pork, they kindly substituted it with an egg, which was incredibly considerate and thoughtful! The Chili Wontons never disappoint either; their delicate filling and the spicy kick create an irresistible combination. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly service only add to the experience, making Pepper House a place I look forward to visiting again and again!
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
The food is fresh and savory. the mild spice level had slight kick to it, perfect for an enjoyable experience. two of us shared chengdu dumplings, Dan Dan noodles and the cold jelly app. Generous portions. Efficient helpful staff. These are some of the best Dan Dan noodles I've had, texture and flavor were so satisfying. Note food is served in plastic containers even for dine in, the experience would be even better with porcelain, but food is still amazing!

Yelp
Another he said heartfelt thank you goes to #pepperhouse off Rt 40. This is one of the few places when I walk in I really want to eat everything on the menu. As we NEVER had a bad meal here. And the owners are Gold! Oh and they make the proper crispy fried fish. Probably the closest thing to British F&C, fish in Maryland.
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem! I had to go looking for this place after hearing about how great the food is. I was not disappointed. The dishes were flavorful and spicy and delicious. They packaged my to go very carefully and wrapped things up separately so I could combine everything at home so make it perfect for my tastes. I could add as much spice and sauce as I wanted. The service was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
All I can say is this is the top 3 best Chinese food I have eaten in all of Southern California, NJ/NYC, & the DMV. Pepper House is a small mom & pop shop that seems underwhelming from the outside. The interior is simple and reminiscent of mainland China. Needless to say, when eating good authentic Chinese food. the only important thing is taste. Pepper House does it right with with the mala and Szechuan pepper corn. The Beef Dry Pot included chili oil, Szechuan pepper corns, beef, spam, lettuce, fried tofu skin, lotus roots, kombu, and thin slices of potatos. It was amazing. The collection of flavors, spices, herbs, and richness of oil releases an immense rush of dopamine. The fresh crunch from the lotus roots helped add texture to a rather soft dish. The Chendu Wontons were the biggest surprise. The wonton was packed with pork and the skin was cooked to perfection. Additionally the dumpling skin was perfect, neither too thick nor too thin. Again, the richness of flavors, oil, and spice was to die for. While dining in, there were a few online orders for the dry pot, which is amazing. BUT if you have never tried the Chengdu Wontons, I strongly recommend them. The food was great, but the auntie who works at the front was super friendly and constantly checked up on us. She even recommended getting the wontons less spicy and offered to add more spice if I wanted more after tasting. Please try this place out. It belittles major franchises like Din Tai Fung and Paradise. Im looking forward to coming back here every time I visit the greater Baltimore region!

Yelp
This restaurant has exceptional service and love. The food is delicious and the menu is authentic. The seating is limited so take out is easier during peak hours but we were able to share space with another larger group. Can't wait to return to try some more items.

Yelp
My bff sent me a Fb reel for this place!! Im like ooh at everything I saw. My love pulled up to some place , opened the car door and looking around Pepper House!!! He surprised me for sure!. We were supposed to be going somewhere else!. The Ambiance was cool, neat cleaned,so colorful, welcoming and beautiful and had culture throughout the decor loved the hanging red peppers. I've been cravings Dim Sum for a while and this spot had 3 kinds of dumplings!!. Customer service was great, insightful and funny, I didn't know which to get the lady said try the Original ones with chili oil sauce not too much chili oil, it's not too spicy don't worry don't be afraid lol. I got the Chengdu dumplings in chili oil sauce!! You get 13!!!..I wasn't sharing with anyone been craving like a fiend. Got home and fell in love!!!! They were HUGE asf!! never seen any like them the chili sauce was at the bottom! The dumpling shell was seasoned the mixture inside was seasoned and packed to have pork in each bite!. My Mom tried the dumplings with sauce (she doesn't eat this type of food) and loved it so much came back for 2nds!. Esp the sauce had so much flavor equally as the dumplings. Thankfully I still had dumplings left!!. These definitely keep you full & no room to eat it all . they pack it with so much seasoned filling, I saved like 4!. Now that I've had an excellent dim sum experience with pepper house I can't go anywhere else!! I even told my friend she's horrible for setting me up like that! Lol . Next up definitely is the Noods!! FYI that drink I got from somewhere else!!

Yelp
Food was INCREDIBLE. We had the beef noodle, chicken fried rice, and chengdu dumplings. Everything had complex flavor and heat. The spices linger on your tongue for an hour after you've quit eating. We ordered 'normal' spicy levels and found them to be perfect, heat that sacrifices no flavor. The chili oil they use is made in-house (and sold by the jar) -- I wish we had grabbed some, but we'll be back. If you love sichuan food, this place is a true find. Owner was very attentive to guests and service, checked with every customer after they had a chance to try their food to make sure they were happy. Ambience was very casual and low-key. Prices were more than reasonable, and portions were huge. We took a little of everything home and I wish I was still eating it now.

Yelp
Small mom&pop shop that takes care of you. Ordered the Sichuan Cold Noodles with Sliced Chicken, Singapore stir fried rice noodles with chicken, and mango slush. All were amazing, spiciness didn't overpower the flavor. Would 100% recommend.

Yelp
Ordered beef noodle soup and sandman noodle. Super oily and salty, not sure how they do the ranking of best Chinese food in us but this place is not it

Yelp
I've been searching for my new go-to since moving to Maryland for a while now, and I think I've found it :) YuanYuan and Franklin were both amazing hosts and the food was amazing! The atmosphere is homey and welcoming, definitely the 夫妻店 (mom-and-pop restaurant) feel for sure :) which is the best- Note: Super generous noodle portions, which I'm super grateful for, of course, but the broth is personally my favorite part, so if you're like me- ask for smaller portion of noodles

Yelp
Don't Go Here... Seriously. (But Actually, You Must!) I'm only writing this review to keep you all away from my spot. This Chinese restaurant is just too good, and if you show up, I might not get a table next time. Let me explain why you should absolutely NOT come here: 1. The Food is a Problem It's so delicious that you'll never be able to eat anywhere else again without feeling disappointed. Dan Dan Noodles? Life-changing. Dumplings? I dream about them. The shrimp fried rice? It might ruin other fried rice for you. Trust me, you don't want this kind of culinary dependence. 2. The Service Will Spoil You The staff is so friendly and attentive that you'll expect this level of care everywhere you go. Spoiler: it won't happen. You'll start questioning why your barista doesn't remember your life story or why other waiters don't refill your tea before you even notice it's empty. So yeah, don't go... I need to keep this place under the radar. One of the best Szechuan style noodle houses in the DMV

Yelp
Holy heck this was good. I had the Dan Dan noodles with extra veg and it was a showstopper. It was so flavorful and everything was fresh. Their pepper sauce is also exceptional. I wish I had bought a jar when I was there. I also felt like the amount of food you get for the price is great. The lady running the place was so kind and helpful and was so sweet chatting with the guests and making sure everyone had what they needed. The space is small and a little hard to find but exceptionally clean. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
This was my second visit-the Dan Dan noodles are excellent-stir everything in and the oil bathes the noodles and allows all the flavorful bits stick as you lift tasty noodle combos to your mouth. We have always had the regular unmodified spice level as it's not much more than mild. Tried the Dry Beef entree at its regular level and while it's spicy, it's a pleasant level that compliments the beef, cabbage, lotus root, potato, seaweed, and spam-it was enjoyed by all of us. It's a generous serving, even when we were splitting it among family, there is some for lunch tomorrow. Chongking noodles were just what my teen with a cold wanted, a little heat with an amazing broth, filling noodles with nicely steamed young bok choy and a gently fully cooked egg. So good, he didn't want to share! For the actual place, people are friendly and helpful, even if it's your first visit. There is limited seating, so you may share a long community table. The canned sodas are ice cold, a welcome relief when summer heat calls for hydration-we will be back!

Yelp
I had a craving for Chinese style spicy beef noodle soup and this place came up first on Yelp so decided to check it out. The store is in a hole in the wall type location but it is very clean inside and seats about 10 people total. The store owner was very sweet - she explained every single menu item to us but I knew exactly what I wanted. On their menu it was called Tianjiao Beef Noodles. She asks customers for the level of spiciness so I picked hot. The soup and the beef was easily the best part of this dish. I wish the noodles were a little more thicker and chewier but the soup compensated for that for sure. I would definitely come here again when I have a craving for spicy noodle soup again (:

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Similar to the ones I had in Sichuan, China. Recommend the chengdu malatang (not pictured) if you are craving the spice.

Yelp
I'll be back for more! Tried the dry hot beef pot, cold noodles, and wonton soup. I can't do hot so I asked for 1 out of 10 rating. It was doable for me. Cozy space with two large tables. During the 1 hr I was there, native chinese speakers were coming in to order food. That's how I know it's authentic. lol
