"Picking up a patty or two from Peppers & Spice has long been one of our favourite it-would-be-rude-not-to activities around Dalston and, in fact, everything from this local takeaway favourite hits the mark. Their jerk—marinated, oven-cooked, and finished on the grill—is best slathered with a pot of fruity, punchy sauce. Expect to queue, expect to have a nice chat, and expect to leave very happy. Their Tottenham location is also worth checking out." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley
"Picking up a patty or two from Peppers & Spice has long been one of our favourite it-would-be-rude-not-to activities around Dalston and, in fact, everything from this local takeaway favourite hits the mark. Their jerk - marinaded, oven cooked and finished on the grill - is best slathered with a pot of fruity, punchy sauce. Although not cooked fresh, the skin still manages to retain a smoky hit and on a full plate next to their oxtail stew and macaroni pie, makes for an extremely satisfying meal. Expect to queue, expect to have a nice chat, and expect to leave very happy." - jake missing
"We’ve had many a patty and a lot of jerk from this Caribbean takeaway spot in Dalston, but their macaroni pie - a gooey, cheesy brick that’s crisp on top with just the right amount of stodge - is never not welcome in our life. Ask for a pot of fruity and fiery jerk sauce on the side to pour over." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"For those who have no problem leaning against a counter, takeaway container in hand, Peppers & Spice is essential pre-Spurs match. The Caribbean takeaway makes a rich oxtail stew and tender jerk chicken with just a hint of smokiness, primed for fiery homemade jerk sauce on the side. Queues can build up, but arrive an hour or so before kick-off and it’s very much worth it." - jake missing
"Picking up a patty or two from Peppers & Spice has long been a it-would-be-rude-not-to rite of passage when around Dalston or Bruce Grove. But, the jerk chicken from this takeaway favourite always hits the mark too. Their jerk—marinated, oven-cooked, and finished on the grill—is best slathered with a pot of fruity, punchy homemade sauce. Although not cooked fresh, the skin still retains a smoky hit and on a full plate next to their macaroni pie, makes for an extremely satisfying meal.
