Dosa Factory Closes Back Bay location | Eater Boston

"The Moody Street storefront at 434 Moody St. was announced as coming soon back in 2010 but never opened: the parent website has listed it as “coming soon,” a 2016 post and a 2017 Google Maps image showed a finished bright-orange storefront with the Dosa Factory logo, Man Hoi Kim (the building co-owner) said One World Cuisine has paid rent every month since signing the lease in 2010, yet signage apparently came down in mid-August 2018 and there are still no dosas at 434 Moody St." - Terrence Doyle

This restaurant has a unique setup with separate seating areas depending on the menu choice and kitchen. The menu is extensive with a wide range of options to choose from. We tried the Chhole Bhature and noodles. The food was decent overall, the ambience was really nice, and the service was quick. A good spot if you’re looking for variety and a comfortable dining experience.

Amazing food. The best restaurant I've been to since moving here four years ago.The samosa were flaky with some stiffness, freshly made, and nice portion size. The flavor and the seasoning of the dish were so impressive. The staff were very knowledge about the dishes and how they are served in India. Savio, our server, gave us great recommendations, and the different spice levels paired with the variety of dishes. If you are in the area, definitely check them out. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I love the food here. We have been visiting this restaurant for the last 3+ years and the food has been consistently good. I highly recommend this place for the vegetarian dished- miloni tarkari (the best!), multani paneer, saag, kalonji baingan, and tandoori roti are all tried and loved by us. The recently started a non-vegetarian menu, and we tried it today - laal maas. I tried a new vegetarian dish- kolahpuri paneer (it was ok, nothing special). The staff and our server Savio were very helpful and pleasant to talk to.

I don’t know much about Indian food, but everything — from the food to the drinks — was so tasty and felt truly authentic! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. I can’t wait to take my family back again soon!

Tried Peppino’s Dosa today, though I ended up ordering idly instead of dosa. Unfortunately, the idly wasn’t great - the batter didn’t seem properly fermented. While the texture was soft, it was sticky and lacked the usual fluffy lightness. The menu had a fully vegetarian section, but I couldn’t quite tell if there was a separate non-veg menu or if everything was mixed in - something to note if you’re particular about that. I was curious about a few items and asked the waiter about the Multani Paneer, but he just read the description from the menu. I gave it a try anyway, and while it wasn’t bad, it just tasted like a basic onion-tomato paneer dish. One odd moment: another curry listed had a description that matched a rava dosa, which was a bit confusing. On the bright side, the Peshawari naan was excellent - sweet, nutty, and perfectly cooked. I might come back, but definitely not for the South Indian dishes. I’d be more interested in exploring the chef’s specials next time.

The standout feature of this restaurant is its head chef, Shingara Singh, a renowned name in Indian culinary circles — and it truly reflects in the food. ✅ Must-Try: The Ghee Dosa is an absolute delight — crispy, flavorful, and rich. Be sure to ask for the masala on the side, a special touch they offer on request, and it’s worth it! 🍛 I also tried the Indo-Chinese Fried Rice with Chilli Paneer — while the taste was decent, the inclusion of green peas felt offbeat for this dish. A tweak there could enhance the authenticity. 🏰 Ambience: Classy interiors with a Rajwada-style charm — elegant chandeliers, thoughtfully designed plates, and a regal vibe that sets the tone for a quality dining experience. 🤝 Service: Warm and attentive throughout the meal. However, one minor hiccup — digital payment was only possible at the cashier desk, which slightly disrupted the otherwise smooth experience. Overall: Great spot for authentic South Indian flavors with a royal twist. A little room for improvement on fusion dishes and the payment process, but definitely worth a visit for the dosa lovers.

My wife and I visit Peppinos at least twice a month for the past 4 years. The food and the service are spectacular. It was a vegetarian only restaurant for a long time and now they've added a non-vegetarain section. The food is what you would eat at the finest restaurants in India. 2 things that are notable: consistently good food; and superb service. The wait-staff pays attention to your order. We've only had to specify our taste preferences once 4 years ago and since then it always comes out the same - consistenly awesome. For the past 2 years Shivam has been serving us delectable dishes at Peppino's. He has the memory of an elephant and dexterity of a magician with food and drink appearing out of nowhere without disturbing your conversation. If you're looking for indian food then visit Peppino's for a great experience.

Im extremely disappointed with my meal. I ordered takeout for the Spicy Garlic Noodles- which is $18. I got spaghetti noodles with less than a handful of vegetables, for $18. It tasted fine, could be more garlicky, but for this price point the least that could be included is quality noodles and a protein of some sort.
