"A friendly and contemporary bistro, with exposed stone and dark green walls, mirrors and velvet banquettes. A Korean chef, who is passionate about French gastronomy, creates modern cuisine with occasional nods to his home country, and it proves to be a winning formula: for example, his starter of burrata, duck breast, basil/arugula pesto and sesame. In the evening, he pulls out all the stops, with premium ingredients and more sophisticated dishes (and a tasting menu)." - Michelin Inspector

Paris Decoded with Perception’s Sukwon Yong

"We meet Sukwon Yong at his restaurant, Perception, which opened nearly two years ago in the 9th arrondissement – in the trendy SoPi (South Pigalle) area of Paris at the foot of the Butte Montmartre. He’s just finished lunchtime service, but a large table of Korean diners lingers over coffee. The long, narrow dining space, which leads to the open kitchen, seats 35 diners. The dark walls are lined with deep orange velvet banquettes, and the space has a cosy feel." - The MICHELIN Guide

Walked in around 7:30 without reservation, and they accepted us. Fixed menu of 5 items. Food was creative, with combinations like rhubarb and fish. Very tasty.

We’ve been to perception for dinner. We chose the 8 courses menus. The starters and amuse bouche were fantastic! However, moving forward with the main platters and desserts, they were a bit disappointing with average taste. The service is very good and their selection of wine matches well with the food.

We tried Perception because of our local friend’s dad’s recommendation and it did not disappoint. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were all great. Our favourite dish was the Ongsimi and we were so glad we got the 8 course because of that. From the dessert, the all kiwi dessert was our favourite as it was really unique and it also played with diverse textures. All the dishes were very creative, although there were some dishes where we felt less of the fusion. We will definitely return on our next trip to Paris! Looking forward to new dishes.😋🫶🏻

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Paris: Perception: Nestled in the charming Montmartre district, Perception offers an unforgettable dining experience that blends the best of modern French culinary with a Korean twist. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance welcomes you with an intimate and elegant atmosphere — Soft lighting for each table and subtle background music. The service is impeccable, with waitstaff who are not only attentive but also eager to share their passion for the menu. The chef’s commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients shines through in every dish. We enjoyed the six course tasting menu with wine pairing and it was sublime. Dessert was an art form in itself. The chocolate nestled on a bed of dark chocolate pieces, light yet decadently rich, brought the meal to a spectacular close. It’s clear that Perception doesn’t just cook; they create a culinary journey that celebrates the very essence of Paris. Every dish, every detail, from the carefully curated wine list to the thoughtfully designed plates, reveals the passion and creativity of this exceptional restaurant. Whether you’re a local or a visitor to Paris, Perception is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the beauty of great food and memorable experiences. We will be returning…

this restaurant has a tasting menu and everything was very carefully thawed out and prepared. Each dish reflects the expertise of their kitchen. Well, everything was really good. The thing that I like the best was this amazing orange blossom ice cream that came with dessert. There was also a supplement for wine tasting, which each of the courses that we did as well. I would definitely recommend recommended and definitely go back.

What a superb experience! This should easily be a Michelin starred restaurant. We particularly liked the Asian influences that were notable in most dishes throughout the meal.

Amazing experience and well worth the price. One of the best meals I have ever had in France. We had the 6 course menu with matching wines. The Korean and French fusion was delicate and delicious.
