11 Hot New Dining Destinations in Downtown Santa Rosa | Eater SF

"Overlooking the new Courthouse Square in the former Christy’s on the Square, this is a solid date spot for its good drinks, fresh seafood, and parallel play side-by-side window seating. Not having to watch each other eat the surprisingly tender calamari can sometimes be helpful." - Gretchen Giles

I’ve been coming here for good drinks, good views, and an amazing club scene for years. Nightclubs are always popping, and attracting nice crowds. They have free karaoke nights and other cool activities.

Google
Service… they are trying to do best Atmosphere… good if you sit near the window Food… just okay. The back ribs and French fries were good. No comment for their Octopus Drink… just okay. The cocktails were Not like water down but not strong and felt like too sweet.

We thought it would be fun to grab some drinks and hang out. We got there around 9 PM and noticed a group of staff hanging out at the entrance, smoking and chatting. Despite there not being any special event and the place being nearly empty (maybe 5 people inside), we were still asked to pay a cover charge—which felt unnecessary. Even though I met a guy inside He was shocked when they charged me to get in with my girlfriend. We ordered a White Claw and a margarita (served in a plastic cup), and our total came out to $29, which seemed pretty overpriced for what we got. The environment itself was cool, but instead of trying to squeeze money out of cover charges and overpriced drinks, the focus should really be on creating a better overall experience.

Had dinner here on Thursday (12/1); it was a cold and rainy day so we had the bar to ourselves. We arrived with a few minutes left of happy hour so we got some wine and an order of the wings+fries. They were both delicious! The wings were big and meaty with a great dry rub. The calamari was good and the dipping sauce was super spicy, exactly how I like it. I tried the tres chile mezcal cocktail and that was really nice, a good amount of spice to it. We ended with the burger and it was definitely the highlight of the food; it was cooked perfectly. They even split it for us which we didn't ask but did appreciate. They went above and beyond. They have a great wines by the glass list. The highlight of the meal was getting to chat with the bartender Coco. We had a great conversation and she made our experience really enjoyable; we stayed longer than we planned because we were enjoying the conversation. I highly recommend this place and if you see Coco working, grab a spot at the bar and you'll have a wonderful time.

Google
Giving this a 3 star due to them being out of so much. They were out of 4 different tap beer's ended up drinink wine. Ordered the clam chowder and guess what they were out. Although, did have a good time arrived @ 8:30 on a Saturday night they stop serving food @ 9pm @ 10pm the restaurant turns into a club. DJ was playing good music! Food was decent from the looks of the cocktails they looked delicious. Bartender was awesome. Will go back.

Google
I ordered the Fish & Chips and was quite happy with both the quality of the cod and portion size. The service was good and the food came out quickly. The cocktail flights were unique and tasty as well as visually appetizing.

I went here on a work event in 2019 and I would have rated it highly based off that experience. However, in March I took my wife here for a date and it was a very poor experience. We had a reservation and the restaurant was less than a quarter full, yet we waited 10+ minutes to be seated. Once we were finally seated, no one came to take our order within 15 minutes. At that point we just gave up and went do a different restaurant.

Google
Ok, so I had been curious about this place for a long time because I walk past it almost every day, and I've never been quite sure what goes on there. One of my coworkers wanted to go dancing and heard this was one of a few "night clubs" in the area with good music to dance to. We went Saturday night and called ahead to confirm what time they opened. The hours on Google are listed as 5 pm to 1:30 am, but it sounds like they close for an hour or 2 during that time to transition from being a restaurant to a club? Anyway, we were told they'd open for dancing at 10 and arrived around 9:50. When we got there, a bunch of employees were chilling outside eating and didn't acknowledge us until 10:20. At that point, we were debating whether to just hang out at the bar next door where we could still hear the music and avoid paying a cover. Eventually, the Perch+Plow security team decided to start letting people in, though they seemed kind of pissed off about it? We paid the cover, which was $20 per person. A note: if you pay with a card, they have their default tip amount set to 25% (even when you are just paying the cover charge at the door). Another note: there was no live music or special event happening, and this place wasn't really crowded, so the $20 cover seemed egregious. I've probably already told you everything you need to know about this place. But if you're wondering whether this review gets worse--reader, it does! At this point, my coworkers and I (5 people) go upstairs and order drinks. The bartenders also seemed pissed at us (?) even though I think we were all behaving like normal folks at a bar. Most of us ordered different drinks, but nothing crazy or complicated (margs, Moscow mules, etc.). We tried each others’ drinks, and each one tasted like it contained a single drop of booze. Despite costing around $16… ok. After finishing the worst cocktail ever, I switched to beer and danced for a bit. The one highlight of this experience was the DJ. I hope every cent of our cover charge went to supporting that DJ!!!! We decided to leave a little before midnight, and this is where things got real dicey. On our way out, one of the security guards was escorting a supposedly unruly patron out of the club. I'd talked to the same dude earlier at the bar, and sure, he was creepy. He also stopped bothering me once I told him to leave me alone. I was directly behind them on the stairs when the security guard, seemingly unprovoked, put his hands on this man and shoved him. I literally gasped because the dude was cooperating and ALREADY ON HIS WAY OUT. Why would you SHOVE HIM?? Outside, the security guard shouted profanities and insults at this man, who once again, was already LEAVING. This was an incredibly weird, unsettling, and (needless to say) unprofessional display of toxic masculinity and extraordinarily bad customer service. TLDR: DJ was excellent but everything other aspect of this place ranged from disappointing to alarming. Just go to the bar next door!

Yelp
I think this spot has the best chicken I have ever tried in Sonoma county. Reasonably priced as well. I've only been here a few times mainly for their night bar. However eating here was a pleasant surprise. The service could've been better but we were in a large party. The girl was attentive even though our mocktails took a little longer than expected. Vibe here is definitely mellow and more for like a date. Everyone with me also enjoyed their food. Definitely would return for the chicken sandwhich. So give it a try

Yelp
Our go-to Stark's family of restaurants were all booked so we took a chance on P & P - a menu that seemed similar. What we didn't anticipate was the staff. When we arrived, the place was almost empty, as was the hostess stand. After a while, the hostess showed up (she had been sitting at a table, in the back, with a few other people) and sat us. She absolutely treated us as an inconvenience and gave us the look. Sadly, I think she was also an owner or manager. Drinks: The fridge wasn't working, so no draft beer. A bottled beer came out without a glass. There is no coffee - as in they don't serve coffee, espresso, nothing. The drink flight we ordered wasn't even started when the food came out so we cancelled it. Bartender looked visibly angry. Our server was kind and tried to be accommodating. The food was tasty but the staff experience was surreal. No idea how this place stays open. And dress warm if you choose to go, windows were open on a 55 degree night.

Yelp
Oh watch out! My wallet was stolen from here /: Bartenders and security said they couldn't help me. It's too bad, the place was fun until that happened.

Yelp
I came in with a group of girls for dinner on a weeknight. At first we were worried because nobody came to the table after we were sat for quite a long time, but the experience quickly got better. We shared several small plates including the ahi, peppers, fries, brussels etc. and all of them were quite delicious. We also tried several different drinks that were all good too. My sister got a slice of cheesecake on the house for celebrating here and it was delish. Our server also gave us a great list of recommendations in town. I would recommend coming in if you're in the area.

Yelp
My son and I celebrated our December birthdays at Perch+Plow last Saturday night and our 30-person (plus 4 littles) cocktail party couldn't have been better! The service from the cocktail and wait staff was friendly, efficient, and extremely attentive; the hors d'oeuvres were terrific and went great with the cocktails; and although we booked the lounge, we were allowed to spread out into the adjacent restaurant area so our group had plenty of room. We were allowed to use our own music playlist, and our guests kept telling us how much they enjoyed the place and will come back. Thank you, P+P, for such a wonderful experience!

Yelp
I've been to Perch +Plow and usually enjoy the times spent there with friends. The place is in a great location and the vibes are usually warm and pleasant, The food is good too. Yet, I'm more familiar with the nightlife there, like a Friday or Saturday outing with friends. I'm leaving one star based on a female bartender and the male manager who was working last time I was there. The lack of basic customer service skills and respect, absolutely rude and poor judgement against me and my 2 friends was shocking. I was there couple weeks ago, after maybe 30 mins of being there I walked over to the small standing bar near the stairs to order drinks for myself and friends who were standing nearby. I kindly asked what type of drinks were being served at that station since obviously it's not the full bar. The bartender kept a straight face and told me she wasn't serving me. An yes it's loud so I thought i misheard what she said. I said "sorry what was that?" She gave me a nasty look and straight said she wasn't serving me because I appeared F'd up. I laughed and thought she was joking because I had only been there for 30 mins and had zero drinks. But no she was dead serious. She told me I can try the other bar but she's not serving me. I asked how she came to that conclusion as I've been standing right near the bar while I waited for friends and she told me"she's been doing a job for a long time, so she knows what she knows" like what? Whoooo are you? I was utterly shocked. I couldn't help but laugh out of confusion and turned around and told my friend what just happened, so my friend asked her is she was serious?? An me being a woman of color said, you gotta be prejudice or something because I' walked in here sober and been standing here talking to friends. She spoke to my friend and pulled out shot glasses then says no I'm not a racist so how many shots you want? At this point I'm even more confused like so to prove you're not racist you changed your mind and going to serve us shots?!? I said I thought I was too f'd up? She takes the shot glasses back and calls her manager on walkie talkie. The male manager doesn't even try to understand what is going on and tells us we have to leave because we called the bartender racist! I then said can I please share what just happened, I will gladly leave, I'm not pressed to be here, this is ridiculous and I'd like to share my experience. He didn't even care to listen and asked security to escort us out. Like what a joke. I must say I am not a young person who just turned 21 etc, who goes out and gets wasted and belligerent like some of the guests that attend Perch. I'm in my late 30's, I am always respectful and I always tip very well when I'm buying drinks as these bartenders are busting their tails. Not sure what or why this happened or how the female bartender made her decision but I will not return to perch and I don't recommend going here if you are a person of color. Straight like that.

Yelp
We were so excited about coming to Perch and Plow after the Forbes article about their fabulous mocktails. What a disappointment. According to our delightful server, "that was the old menu. This new one has only a few." My friend doesn't drink so she was so excited about original mocktails. It was not to be. Okay?? Happy hour special cocktail was watery and without much taste. My friends mocktail was the same. Some good small plates: very good ceviche, and great stuffed dates. Empanadas and taqueria just ok. At 6:30 on Friday, the place was dead while bars and eateries around us were hopping!! Decor is blah; facilities ok. Service was good. But overall. Just ok. Will only come back for the ceviche!!

Yelp
Cute and modern upscale american fusion place. We had a 5:30 reservation and the restaurant was pretty much empty. The service was extremely slow, I can't imagine how long it would take during busier hours. Some people in my party got the steak and asked for medium well and it came out rare. Might of been an off night but it seemed very over priced for the service they provided.

Yelp
Went here for Halloween weekend small but cute place it's the restaurant with a small dance floor. DJ played good music. My only complaint it was hard to get a drink but once we finally got one bartender was super nice and quick and friendly. So I would check this place out again.

Yelp
We LOVE Kelsie! She was super engaging, fun to chat with, a fantastic server, and very friendly! The food was dynamite! The truffle fries and lemon aioli were delish, as was the ceviche! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious. Ruth Reichi Friends dinner night out. The vote: Perch and Plow. This is an impressive Restaurant + Cocktail Bar that hosts a Hipster like vibe. Both the ground patio and second floor offer nice views that overlook Santa Rosa's historic downtown square. The inside decor greets you with a welcoming modern charm. We were impressed by the open dining area and the beautiful full bar that that offers classic, interesting, and unique crafted cocktails.--AND the menu offers a perfect selection of appetizers and large plates which features organic, natural, and local ingredients The price ranges from $10 to $66. Food is delicious and worth the cost. We ordered the: ROASTED CAULIFLOWER $13, ROASTED BEET SALAD $14, FILET MIGNON AND LOBSTER TAIL $66, GRILLED CREEKSTONE 16OZ RIBEYE STEAK $46, two orders of the COURTHOUSE DOWNTOWN SMASH BURGER (LOCAL GRASS-FED BEEF) $16, and for desert --CRÈME BRULEE WITH FRESH BERRIES $10. So many Drink choices - but we went with the lemon drop martini, red wine, Cadillac margarita, and dry martini. Recommended: Make a reservation. This is a busy and popular dining destination. Staff: Superb service! Note: Street Parking and a convenient 3rd street garage.

Yelp
Location can not be beat! Right on Courthouse Square overlooking on the 2nd floor with open windows, plenty of seating in a modern space. I placed a doordash order to go of Burger & Fries, Fish tacos and a cup of butternut squash soup. When I went to pick up, the server took me up to the second floor and gave me my bag. She said that I still owe a balance and I said no, I placed the order through DoorDash and paid already. She said she had "No idea and doesnt know much about DoorDash". She went to the back and asked someone. When she came back, I showed her my Doordash account and showed her that I paid. She did not seem convinced and she let me go. Definitely need to be more communication with servers regarding 3rd party apps if you are accepting them in your restaurant! Food was not bad. Fish tacos were a little too sour (I took out the jalepenos too otherwise it will be sour and HOT) for my taste. Butternut Squash soup was good. Burger was OK. Would not mind trying again if they have seasonal menu, I would try something else.

Yelp
I am extremely disappointed! Today is my birthday and I had made a reservation a week ago to come to Perch & Plow to celebrate. I confirmed my reservation yesterday via text & email. I showed up tonight & the restaurant was closed! Very poorly done!!!!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday evening to have some drinks and light bites and had a wonderful time thanks to our waiter Connor. He was so attentive but also respected our space AND he brought me a birthday cake! Drinks were great and bites were great too. My favorite was the truffle fries but I'd maybe pass on the oysters since they were too big/milky for my personal taste. I'd definitely like to come back and try their entrees next time in the area. Thanks again Connor for your stellar service!

Yelp
Drinks were okay. I came here because they're Yelp showed lots of pics of cocktails but they were just OK. My glass was extremely sticky on the outside which made drinking it kind of annoying. I think this place lacked attention to detail.

Pallavi P.

Yelp
Our experience here was amazing! A great ambience, delicious food and our server Lauren, was fantastic making it a memorable evening. We started off with the cocktail flights, and the grilled octopus which were great. Entrees were the NY strip, cooked to perfection, the mushroom risotto, perfectly creamy and balanced with the earthy mushrooms and the Altantic salmon seared for maximum flavor. Portions are good sized and served with mashed potatoes and vegetables making it a balanced meal. They were out of the standard dessert flight, but our server managed to request four one to be put together since we were celebrating a special occasion. Needless to say, it was delicious! When in Santa Rosa, take the time to stop by Perch+Plow; you will not regret it!

Yelp
Good place! We've been to Perch & Plow before and enjoyed dinner; this time was just for drinks and appetizers. The Old Fashioned was fine, as was the chardonnay. We enjoyed the fried shishito peppers and the truffle fries--generous portions, and both tasty with innovative flavors and textures featured. Our server showed up a couple of times to make sure things were OK and wasn't trying to get rid of us even after we finished. Anyhow, a very pleasant ambience and decent offerings--I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Very pricey watering hole for yuppies in the heart of downtown We stopped there for a quick bite before a movie as they had things we could eat. Food was good, although we could not co?ent on the drinks as we we did not order any. But the bar tender was very busy... It was upstairs: after stepping out of the carpetted and padded elevator, we heard loud music and voices. The decor was modern, clean and spacious. If less noisy, it could be a good place to conduct business. Service was not great. When we were escorted to the table from the hostess station, the floor though clear was very sticky, as if some sugary drinks have been spilled. The waiters had to be flagged down for refills of water and our appetizer was brought after our meal. For 2 small plates and a Caesar salad, cthectab was north of $60. If in the area and we were invited for drinks by friends, we may return.

Yelp
Dinner with the wife on our Napa trip - we ordered from the starters menu : the fig salad was very disappointing (burned figs, burned bacon, no sauce ), fried calamari was....well, a fried calamari , nothing special . The BBQ sliders were really good and the bacon w Brie filling were ok. The most disappointing part we're the cocktails , the bartender said she could make us mojitos , unfortunately what we got is lemonade w a little bit of alcohol inside .... This is not what you expect out of a cocktail bar Service was quite slow but the waiter still tried her best and was really nice I would look for other alternatives for dinner in Santa Rosa

Yelp
Great spot for drinks on a late night out on the weekend. Outside of that, expect a typical restaurant experience. I recently visited Perch + Plow for a nice dinner with my girlfriend. We were hesitant to come here for date night because reviews for this restaurant are so mixed. Some diners had a positive experience, praising the food, drinks, and service. The wings, calamari, burger, and cocktails were particularly well-received. But, others had a negative experience, with issues such as incorrect orders, poor-quality fish, and overly spicy or tart drinks. The adventures of different diners were so varied, with some having everything go well and others experiencing several issues. All in all, our experience was just okay. Which, honestly, was right in line with my expectations. However, the decor and design of the restaurant were stunning. My recommendation: Come on the weekend with a group of people sometime after 9 pm and treat yourself to the Mezcal Hot & Spicy.

Yiray K.

Yelp
We had 5:30pm reservations on Sat. night and place was empty. Walking up the stairs, I noticed how dirty the carpeting was. We tried to sit in bar lounge area but there were sticky stains on the booth chairs from spilled drinks. Then we moved to the dining room but table we chose by wall was also dirty even though it was setup for service. Then we looked at menu which is now very different from last time we came. We finally decided to leave. This place is not what we remembered or expected.

Yelp
The patio was open for business last night and my husband and I watched the Friday Night Concert in the Square while we ate the tastiest Brussel sprouts we've ever had! If Brussel sprouts tasted like this when I was a kid, there would have been no melt-downs at the table. These were as light as potato chips and tasted like bacon and all things heavenly. We talked 7 other people who were merely considering Perch & Plow into giving it a try as they walked by. The service was good, but the fooooood? The ceviche was blissful; fresh and still tasting of the ocean while the ribs? I actually sucked on the bones like they were lollipops. The dining area in the restaurant is funky in the best way. But we wanted to eat outdoors and it added to the ambiance. LOVED it and would choose to eat outside again. We'll be back to try the other menu items we didn't have the opportunity to taste.

Yelp
The food was fantastic. And the restaurant is really beautiful - modern, light, updated, and full of a really fun energy. The service was very slow, although I was there with a large party, so the service likely just reflected the number of people at our table. My only complaint about this lovely restaurant is the music - it was extremely loud and prevented everyone from being able to participate in conversations - no one could hear each other over the music. Live music would be great - this restaurant would be such a great location for background piano music or some other (unamplified) live music. But to have a random rock / pop playlist blaring loudly over the speakers throughout the meal was a real bummer. Turn that unnecessary background noise off, and this restaurant would get 5 stars from me.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Perch + Plow. We ordered the prawns, Brussel sprouts, scallops, and the courthouse burger. The Brussel sprouts were amazing. I don't know how they cooked them so good, but this was definitely our favorite dish of the night. The scallops were cooked perfect but I thought they were really small. Definitely not what I was expecting and I thought there was a little too much balsamic vinegar, but still very good. The court house burger was amazing! And the prawns were juicy and fresh. We got some drinks as well. I thought the drinks were good but definitely watered down. But very aesthetically pleasing. Service was good as well. Our server was very attentive and made sure we always had everything we needed. Overall, we really enjoyed Perch + Plow and would recommend!

Yelp
This use to be one of our favorite spots but it has gone downhill. The staff has always been amazing. The food though, it's just okay now. Previously they had a menu that offered options you couldn't find anywhere else downtown. Now their menu is the same generic thing you can get anywhere else and it doesn't stand out. The baked Brie was always a big highlight and now it's gone. The cocktails might be the only thing that brings us back. The food isn't worth a stop unfortunately. We tried to give them the benefit of a doubt with covid and everything going on but it's just not as amazing as it use to be

Yelp
This place missed the mark. Booked a Saturday evening reservation for three. We were seated at the window ledge overlooking the square. The table surface was dirty. They were out of 2/5 of their specialty cocktails and the one we ordered was waaayyyy too spicy to drink. The mocktail I ordered was also undrinkable so we just had water. My bf ordered the rib platter which he enjoyed. I ordered the salmon risotto which was way too fishy with additional bonito flakes on top of the salmon and simultaneously bland. They do not have salt and pepper at the table, which we had to request. They did not have decent vegetarian options, which would have been preferred. Service was mediocre. Had to ask for a to go box and check as the servers had their backs to us while they chatted with one another. Not a great birthday dinner reservation experience and not worth $120. Disappointing.

Me and my friends come here a lot, we love all the different cocktails they're all so pretty and fun!

Yelp
Full disclosure, we went to Perch & Plow on the first days of being opened up inside after being closed for only outside business, so they were understaffed. First the good, the drinks were good, not overly sweet (at least the one I got). The appetizer we got, Basil Gimlet and Top Gun. The server was nice, however was clearly under pressure due to being understaffed at the restaurant. The kitchen was also clearly overwhelmed - and he did warn us that the food would take at least 45 min. We appreciated him telling us this upfront. The appetizers - Truffle fries were good, the truffle aioli was tasty. The brussel sprouts were roasted and had a way too sweet sauce. The mains --------- after about 1.5 hours we finally got my burger. It was delicious! However, my wife didn't get her plate. She had a few bites of mine, but after about 20 min she gave up. Finally, after 30 min, they brought out my burger and HER plate (clearly my burger may have been someone else's). At that point we returned them both as we were done. We got the bill and they did remove the meal we rejected, however no other accommodation. When we asked the server, wow not even a drink for 1.5-hour wait and not getting our food? He apologized and said the manager didn't like them giving anything away??!!! That is not how to handle customer service. He did push back at her, and at least covered my wife's drink, but in the end a pretty sour experience, not the server, but the restaurant. I understand it was just opened up, but damn. I hope they are doing better now as we liked the spot, but would avoid if its busy.

Yelp
While I definitely enjoyed the cocktails and food that we received, I was somewhat surprised to find that a tip of 20% was added to my check for myself and four other diners without either informing me or indicating that this was an established policy. To be frank, this felt very opportunistic and not wholly honest. The sum, $41.00, seemed to be somewhat exorbitant since I didn't expect this to occur due to my party not being excessively large or asking for any form of special accommodations. Consequently, both I and those in my party will not be returning.

Yelp
My husband and I had such an incredible experience coming here for a date night last week. We made a reservation online and were seated immediately. Together we ordered a cocktail flight, BBQ bao buns, holy fish & chips, and the NY strip steak. The food came out really quickly and was DELICIOUS. The steak was cooked to perfection, the fish was crispy and seasoned amazingly, and the bao buns were the star of the show. We didn't get to try the Mezcal hot and spicy because they were unfortunately out of it for the evening, but that just gives us an excuse to come back. We had a terrific time!

Yelp
Honestly I can't think of another time recently that I have felt so compelled to write a yelp review. After the holidays and we had hosted cooking for 20 people. So we wanted to splurge and have a date night. First off, I'd like to say that this place had been remodeled so beautifully! I remember coming here when it was a night club. And have some fond memories of fun nights out partying with my wife and friends. It was neat that regardless of the renovation this space still holds those memories for me!:) But what they have done to transform this place from a night club to an absolutely gorgeous bar and restaurant is really wonderful. The table service was good. Our waiter did an awesome job of explaining the specials. So much so, that I felt compelled to order them! I started with the soup of the day. It was a carrot purée soup. It came with a drizzle of Chile infused honey and man was it SOUPER DELICIOUS! Normally I would have annihilated this, but I was feeling rather gentleman like, so I shared it with my wife. SHE LOVED IT TOO!!! YO! DUDE!!! They had hen house MK UKTRA!!! This beer is BOMB AS F##K!!! I highly recommend pretty much any beer by henhouse. They have their seasonal beers on rotation so when there FRESH (which is always) they've got em!:) OK so for my main course, I got the fish of the day. It was a sea bass from Monterey. HOLY HELL was this good!!! The fish was cooked to perfection, skin on. Crispy on the outside, tender, flaky and moist on the inside. I love my fish MOIST. Nothing worse than some dried out fish. This was not that!!! The fish came with fresh wild mushrooms and perhaps some potatoes or parsnips? And some of the best broth EVER! I believe the waiter dude said it was miso, but honestly it tasted more like dashi to me. Or it tasted like this fish head stew broth my Mexican buddies wife made, when we had caught some big ass sturgeons. Either way, THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST MEALS IVE HAD IN A LONG ASS TIME!!!

Yelp
I was underwhelmed by this spot. It was solidly good, but given its reputation, I was expecting to be wowed. Cocktails were good but not amazing. I don't remember exactly what I had because it didn't strike me as that unique. I'd go here if someone invited me but wouldn't go out of my way to return on my own steam.

Yelp
Went for drinks and dinner! Didn't photograph the food but it was delicious! As of 10-01-21 they aren't open till 5pm on wednesdays-Sundays! Their website is still allowing people to make reservations prior to 5pm but just be aware that you won't actually be able to get inside till 5! Lovely atmosphere and tasty drinks highly recommend the jade empress drink if you enjoy gin! Great view of downtown Santa Rosa if you have the chance to go in!

Yelp
We came for lunch, and food and drink did not disappoint. I love cocktail flights, and they make a damn good one. I liked two of the cocktails, and loved the other two. $35 for four good sized, well made cocktails is a deal. I got the chicken wings, which were juicy and delicious. Mr B got bagels, lox and cream cheese. He felt the dish would have been better with raw onion vs pickled onions, and the side salad was missing dressing. Service was very good, and the upstairs with outdoor view was lovely. I've already told a bunch of friends to try out Perch + Plow, and once they saw the picture of the flight, they were THERE!!

Yelp
I was in between 3 & 4 stars for a few reasons. This place obviously does well because of the location and diverse menu. They offer a small, but favorable options for food and drinks. I had the hanger steak served with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was very good. The sauce and seasoning paired well with how the meat was done (med-rare). I would get this again, even though I feel like it's over priced for the portion. The downfall was the service was extremely slow and lackadaisical. Many times we found ourselves looking to flag down our waitress when we needed the simplest of things. Twice she went back to get our drinks to find out they were out of what we ordered. Not a big deal, but when it takes 10+ mins each time, it gets frustrating. Going towards the 4 stars because the food was excellent and the service was still very nice.

Yelp
These habanero wings were so excellent. Omg. Also, the calamari and the garlic aioli. So tasty. Can't wait to be in the area so we can try these again. Personally didn't care for the seafood pasta, but that's ok, I'll just not order it next time.

Yelp
Wow this place was off big time last night! First of all it was an ice box in the restaurant. We all were frozen the entire 3 hrs. Appetizers were small and they had no hot drinks or coffee?? Two out of the 11 dinners came about 10 minutes after the others. NOT worth what they are charging.

Yelp
We were able to get dinner reservations at Perch + Plow on Mother's day while visiting Santa Rosa. It's a cool restaurant that is located right across the street of the Old Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa. The seating area itself is located on the second floor which provides nice views of the square if you choose one of the counter seats facing the entry windows. The chef (Ted Williams) worked for a time in Honolulu and I could see some of the Hawaii influence in the dishes. (poke, fried rice, etc) Food: We started with the Crudo, flavor was good but the texture of the fish was a bit tough and almost crunchy. Followed this with a Strawberry and Arugula salad and we really enjoyed the added texture the grains added to the dish. Cheese and Charcuterie was okay, the house made mustard and pickles stood out as exceptional. Crispy Pork Belly was good, topped with a fried egg all on a bed of fried rice. The rice was a little on the mushy/overdone side but flavor was good. Finished off with an amazing Carmel Apple Buenelos paired with a side of vanilla ice cream which probably was the best dish of the evening. They also have great cocktails, an extensive spirits list, and wonderful wine. Service: Our server Danielle was wonderful. Friendly, offering great suggestions, and checking on us often. Service was spot on and one of the highlights of the evening. Atmosphere: Love the second floor space, very airy with great light coming in from the windows facing the square. The interior is very airy and light, very relaxing and perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or cocktail while having a nice meal. Value: Good value considering the quality of ingredients and preparation. The beverage prices are also very reasonable with a wide selection of whisky. Overall: Good food, excellent service, relaxing atmosphere, convenient location added up to a nice mother's day dinner for us. Some of the menu items were a little off especially since they seem to be based off Hawaii themes but perhaps it's because we are used to a certain cooking method back home.

Yelp
My husband and I chose this restaurant because it said it was in a historic bank. Well unfortunately none of the bank was left but the ambiance was fun and playful. The service was excellent and the music was great! We ordered the small plates of Brie wrapped in wood smoked bacon.....fantastic! And the glazed pork ribs. They had a Asian honey flavor with a kick, yummy! The drink selection was vast. I had a passion fruit mojito and loved it. The best part was chatting with the bartender and singing along to the music. We will be back whenever we are near the area.

Yelp
Really delicious food, and lots of great options. The chicken sliders were especially delightful. Good options for folks who don't eat meat as well. The only downside was that we specifically booked an outdoor table, and we had to sit indoors in a crowded spot. Waitress was nice though!

Yelp
Food: We ordered the Brussels sprouts, Octopus Leg, and Fish & Chips to share. My party and I decided there was nothing special about any of them. Service: the hostess was very nice, we were greeted & seated immediately on a Saturday night. Our server on the other hand was very rude when ordering and even fixed the plates in front of us to take back. She did not do that to other tables, it felt directly at us. I won't say her name on here, maybe she really needs her job but it doesn't show. Ambiance: it was our first time there, we weren't helped or recommend anything. we wouldn't go back again.

Yelp
Walking upstairs to Perch + Plow was a different place for a restaurant bar! Arriving here on a Monday for happy hour with co-workers; the art on the walls caught my eye as well as the lighting at the bar area. Their happy hour menu has a variety of options and tasty bites! We all loved the Peach-Melon Margaritas those were our favorites- we ordered the tater tots ( very good not what we were expecting!) I ordered the happy hour Mac n cheese- topped with bread crumbs, bacon and melted cheese sauce. My friend ordered the garlic fries and an Old Fashion- she was very impressed as well by the options. I am looking forward to coming back again. BUT Service was definitely sup-par, a table of people about walked out on their bill before the waiter caught them...

Yelp
My wife and I came here for a Father's Day dinner. I really enjoyed this experience. The service was great and the food is mostly excellent. Their spicy chicken sliders were amazing. I also really enjoyed the tuna tartare and the ribeye steak was perfectly grilled. I was disappointed when I ordered a half dozen raw oysters, but they only had four left. They were really good oysters, but I definitely wanted a few more of them. I would skip the bacon Brie bites as the sauce it comes with flavorless. Also, the summer berry salad was kind of bland as well. The crime brûlée for dessert was really good and worth getting. I didn't try any of the cocktails, which I know is what this place specializes in, but they look good. Overall, a worthwhile place to check out!

Yelp
Loved the food, the folks, and the drinks! We got here at the beginning of the evening before more people started coming in. Our drinks were just as pretty as the pictures you see in other Yelp posts, and they tasted really good, but the star of the show was the birria au jus served with onion rings. The sandwich dipped in the stew-like broth was the most amazing combination of flavors! To be honest, I'm not an onion ring fan, but I really enjoyed these: there wasn't too much better, they were easy to bite into, they were cooked absolutely perfect. The sauce for the onion rings was too spicy for us, but they were so good on their own that we just enjoyed them the way they were. The chef came out and checked on the clientele, including us. He was very friendly, and we really enjoyed him sharing with us about the inspiration behind the dishes we ordered. The wait staff were great, too, and we felt well-taken-care-of the whole time. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for something that has a modern vibe, fun drinks, and great-tasting food!

Yelp
We must have visited this restaurant on a very off night, both the food and the service really missed the mark. We booked an 8:30p reservation over the phone for Sat 11/7; the staff mentioned if we showed at 8, we'd likely be seated earlier. Upon arrival at 8, the hostess said she couldn't seat us yet (even though we saw several empty tables), but we were welcome to order cocktails and wait in the bar area. We opted to take a 10 min walk around the block, then checked back. This time she said she definitely wouldn't be able to seat us until 8:30, but again urged us to order drinks and sit in the bar. We didn't want drinks, we'd already spent a day wine-tasting, so we moved off to the side and stood our wait. About 1 minute later, she came over and said, "I can seat you now." We ordered the octopus appetizer to share, a beet salad for my friend, and a melon salad for me. All three arrived quickly, together. The octopus was well-seasoned but undercooked; we left most of it uneaten. My friend said the beet salad was good. My melon salad was not. The cheese was ok, but the prosciutto was tough and chewy. The melons (cantaloupe & honeydew), were both unripe and flavorless. I know melons are tricky, but there's no way the kitchen cut these and didn't know they were hard as rocks. I ate about 1/3 of the salad because I was hungry and would rather eat tough melon than tough octopus. Despite seeing two plates of mostly uneaten food pushed aside, the not-too-friendly server never asked if there was a problem. We were, however, asked if we wanted to order drinks, again. "No thanks, just a check please."

Yelp
Overpriced pub food in a vast, overly lit, cold (literally... we had to keep our coats and beanies on it was freezing) space. Prices were similar to excellent NYC and SF restaurants but with barely mid-level bar quality food. The interior temperature was so cold it was like eating outdoors, turning the food cold in minutes. Ordered the ribs and they had a chalky consistency to the sauce and were barely edible and cost about what a steak would cost at other restaurants. Costco ribs would have been a better purchase for 1/3 the price, and that's not saying much. Giving this place two stars, only because the cocktails were ok. Probably one of the worst overpriced meals in Sonoma Co I've ever had.

Yelp
Sat at the bar twice now and love it - Matt & Marilyn are dynamic bartenders Both times I Loved the Pork Belly dish - how it's supposed to be made. Super tender with similar to Fried Rice, Snow Peas, and an egg on top which you break with your fork and mix in its richness!! That's a true OMG or a HOLY SHIT!!! The Tuna Tartare was excellent- I love the homemade crackers that come with it and ordered extra. Delish! And the Brie with Blackberries is off the Wall Delicious Sweet/Savory!! With this thickish toast - almost like Texas Toast but much more FLAVA!! There was also a Community type Harvest Dinner which I would like to check out. - There's an elevator. Beautiful Place - well designed, plenty of space in between tables.

Yelp
Perch and Plow is a welcome addition to the Santa Rosa food and drink scene. I love the location, overlooking Courthouse Square the views are very nice. The dining room itself is an open concept providing plenty of space to stretch out. Now for the food. My wife and I started with the roasted squash appetizer. This dish is served with Heirloom summer squash, torpedo onion, lemon gremolata, chimichurri and bread crumbs. We paired this with a perfectly crafted paper plane cocktail. We were both in Heaven and were now very much anticipating what would come next. I went burger, which was grilled to a perfect medium rare. The locally raised ground beef was tasty and juicy. I'm typically a thousand island guy when it comes to condiments, but Perch and Plow uses Russian dressing which I LOVED! I may now be a convert. My wife went with two starters as her main which included the Farm Salad and added the pork belly. For two bucks the added pork belly is a STEAL! I highly recommend that you add this to your salad. It was succulent, tender and just simply amazing. Her second plate was the crudo, which me being a non seafood eater can not personally vouch for her, but if take her word for it she said this dish was on point! Great (reasonably priced) wine list, excellent service we are sold and cannot wait to return to Perch and Plow again.

Yelp
We stopped in for Happy Hour yesterday, it was our first time here and it was an excellent first impression. The restaurant - bar is one flight up and is very attractive. Lots of room at the bar and tables and in the "front" of the restaurant is a ledge with seating where you can look out over Courthouse Square while enjoying your favorite libation. We sat at the bar, my wife had the Peach Margarita and I had a draft Scrimshaw both part of Happy Hour. We also ordered several food items. Mini burgers (2 per order), fish tacos (2 per order), 5 spice chicken wings (5 per order) and a serving of Mac & cheese. All were very tasty and good sized portions. We didn't leave hungry :). Service by the 3 bartenders was friendly and very efficient. Made the visit all the more enjoyable. Our first time at Perch and Plow but definitely not our last
