"Chemistry nerds will get a kick out of Periodic Brewing’s localized logo. For the rest of us, beers like the Sugarloaf Amber Ale and Tourmaline Black Ale offer plenty to geek out about. This family-owned, Leadville-based brewery is situated among 14,000-foot peaks and stunning alpine lakes, making it a prime stop in between outdoor adventures." - Monica Stockbridge

You can’t say no to having a beverage brewed at the highest brewery in the world can you? Of course not. And that’s how we found ourselves here for a tasting one Saturday afternoon. The downstairs is a little tight during the busy hours but they have outdoor seating and an upstairs area that’s more spacious. They have a decent menu and of course a good selection of tasty beverages. I will say the staff the day we visited seemed a little less than enthusiastic but that could just be the altitude talking. This place is a little bit off the main drag but if you want say you’ve had a beverage at the highest brewery in the world, this is your place.

2018- We had such a great time here at Periodic Brewing in Leadville. The staff was informative and interesting to talk to. Even the chef came out and had a chat with us. We had just enjoyed street tacos and a double elk burger along with out beers. In addition we met some pretty cool locals. A well seasoned gentleman with a top hat and long white beard gave us the down low on the previous winter's avalanche activity. Not only was the drive here from Evergreen beautiful, it was equally amazing leaving to head to Montrose. Much love, Pb!We hope to make it back again.

I enjoy finding niche breweries and trying beers during trips. We enjoyed the our beers here. Was a bit put off with service. One bar tender working at the bar was too busy to acknowledge me waiting at the bar to inquire if a table is open (had food left from prior patrons). Bar tender eventually cleaned up table so we can sit. Was given a menu that explains the "rules" where you order at the bar. Made an order and it took three options before we picked something in stock. I don't know how often they run out of menu items. Staff was friendly, but confused. We received another table's order, but did receive our correct order when he realized someone doesn't number the tables correctly. Not a big deal, but let's have some training to avoid the embarrassment for the establishment and the patrons. Our order of fries was served hot and was tasty. Realize you order at the bar, so there is no menu (to save paper they say) to read about the brews. You have to stand at the bar to read the brews and wait for the menu to scroll by. My older eyes could not read the screen well, so I just asked the bar tender for some styles of beer. I would find that annoying if my table were upstairs to have to go to the bar to read the menu and make a decision. Would be difficult to order for other in your party. There is wheelchair access, but you might need help pushing up the hill and the upward sloping sidewalk. It is difficult to get around inside with the table and chairs, just have to ask patrons to move. I did not see any access to upstairs like an elevator. It is an old building so options for wheelchair seating is limited. It is an old town so parking is just luck. If you have to wheel on the street expect to go through gravel and chunks of concrete. I doubt I'll come here again, but I'll look for their beer. They have another location in Northglenn, CO.

Great little place but they only had four beers on tap when we went and none were what my wife was looking for. On the other hand, the amber I had was fantastic and the porter she settled for was equally good. She just didn't want a dark, heavy beer in the summer and she's not a fan of hoppiness at any time.

This brewery was fantastic! I had the fries and the IPA. The service was quick. There was a huge crowd and the food was out within 25 minutes. Not bad when breweries are for drinking local brews. The bartender was exceptionally nice and was able to explain every beer and what went into it. I'm happy we stopped in for a beer and a chance to get to know Leadville a little better!

As a world traveler of breweries I was pretty excited to learn that Periodic Brewing was the highest brewery in North America at over 10,000 feet so that is pretty unique in itself. My girlfriend and I stopped in this past weekend, and while there was a limited selection during our visit, we left with big smiles after meeting the owner and his wife who were both really hospitable people and we learned how difficult it can be to brew beer at that elevation. If you are traveling through Leadville, or staying the night, be sure to stop in and try this great little spot.

Amazing beer! Amazing staff! Couldn't ask for more. It's sad they are closing. I'm so grateful I could experience a pint of beer before they closed. F u c k COVID! A small town that lives primarily off large endurance races (Leadville 100), hiking, fishing, and outdoor activities is so heavily affected. Hands down! if I had the funds I'd pay to keep the highest altitude brewery alive! I'll remember, and I'll be back!

Highest brewery in the US, and the main option in Leadville. Good variety of styles at fair microbrewer prices, and well informed staff. It's an easy walk from just about anywhere in town. Enjoyed the connection between beer names and legs of the Leadville Trail 100 race, and enjoyed seeing several race finishers enjoying a round during my trip. If those athletes drink it, it must be good for you!
