Family-run and fiercely local, Perk dishes out Southwest-tinged classics—breakfast enchiladas, Wine Country French toast—that earned a spotlight on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. A North Scottsdale stalwart with real neighborhood spirit.

Good vibes. Great food. Surprising lack of food coma after. The food matches the hype. The chilaquiles were perfectly prepared with a unique green chile (a touch sweet to go with traditional tomatillo tart and green chile). The chicken-chorizo scramble with red chile (aka crazy chicken) was a tasty concoction. Our littles had the lemon-ricotta french toast (amazing!) and basic hot cakes combo. Everything was nicely prepared and delicious. Even the sides (home style potatoes and the most perfect sourdough toast) were stand out. Service was efficient, accurate, and freakishly friendly! Very happy, good energy environment. Guessing they take decent care of staff. Probably a contributor to higher price point (for a breakfast spot). Value was definitely commensurate with price (especially when you factor in current environment). Bottom line, it’s a great place for an occasion breakfast.

The food was good dining food, I liked the ethnic twist on the cuisines! Portion size was good! Nice family atmosphere that also offers the option of sitting at the bar!

Man ol man, that Guy from DDD’s won’t lying about that French toast. As confident I am in my own cooking, I ain’t never make French toast this good in my life. It was so good I didnt talk to my wife except for if she wanted a bite. French toast got a flavor profile I never experienced on some bread before. Besides that, the corned beef hash was authentic; freshly made with real potatoes and beef. When I’m back around I’ll definitely try everything else, but I had to see the hype about my favorite breakfast dish. And boy, did they deliver.

Marina is a lovely and attentive server. I ordered the lemon curd French toast (sans the 🍋 curd) with just the honey whipped ricotta and strawberries. She identified me as "sweet enough" - Yep! I was barely able to finish as it was so yummy. PerK-fectly fluffy and even a slight crisp on the edges. 😋 The ricotta whip was decadent with the right amount of honey sweetness. Strawberries were fresh, ripe, and delicious. Would've like a few more, but then I'm a berry freak. My husband got the Steak Benedict - wow did it smell delicious! I almost reached in for a bite but didn't want to lose a hand. He got after it. Steak looked perfectly cooked to order (M). Although he would have liked a little more steak. Poached eggs were gorgeous and a nice amount of spinach. I don't get coffee drinks very often but went in for the cappuccino and it didn't disappoint. Not too much milk for me, thank you - still had a healthy heap of foam. 😀 Lots of tantalizing entrées to check out next time. Yes! We will be back.

When we walked up, the outside seemed nice and inviting. Walked inside and we're greeted almost right away but the hostess hardly said anything to us. Coffee was good. Tea was ok. Food came out fast. We ordered the huevos rancheros, lemon curd and honey ricotta french toast, and the classic breakfast. I gave a 3 because the lemon curd and honey ricotta seemed to be lacking (hardly any given in the french toast), and everything else was good... I think we had a high expectation but it was a little underwhelming. We will try again to try the signature dishes.

Google
This was my first time and I'll be back! Our server Zach was very friendly and positive. He made our first time a good experience. He also makes good drinks lol! I tried their Wine Country French Toast and a Cafe Caramel. The Wine Country French Toast is stuffed with french brie, topped with roasted red grapes and red wine rosemary syrup. It was delicious! I think the quality and quantity of this dish was good for the price. The restaurant itself was bigger than I thought it would be and they had a lot to select from in tier menu. I also wasnt expecting a bar menu. Might be a good place for brunch with the girls.

Google
We went in today and our server Thomas was amazing! He was super friendly yet efficient. Food was fantastic as well! Got the breakfast enchiladas and the Irish omelet and eggs were cooked to perfection. Will definitely return, even just to see Thomas 🙂

Google
What an amazing place! We had steak and eggs with the steak cooked to perfection and a great cut of meat. And the service!!! Thomas was one of the friendliest most engaging servers we've come across. Left here with a full belly and happy heart.

Yelp
What an amazing breakfast! And the staff was equal to the task. I met my cousin here for breakfast. We each had the Gordo, it resembled most a Denver omelette. So I'm not sure who really needs a 3 egg. Omelette, but let me tell you, this was so delicious.I ate the entire thing. At first I thought, "oh I can take half home", but it along with the rosemary, potatoes, was just magnificent. So there's that. So yes. We knew we ordered 3 egg omelets, but there was also a special of Waffle with walnuts. We thought, oh we'll split an order. Needless to say, we ate all of it. As we sat there stuffed, we chatted for 3 hours. The restaurant has a very light and open feel to it. Although it's indoors we almost felt like we were sitting out on the patio.Maybe because we were talking so much. Another plus was the attentiveness of staff. And admittingly, because we stayed so long, we still never, ever got the feeling that we were being watched to hurry up and leave. It was during the week and before the lunch rush. So maybe that's why, but regardless, we had a wonderful time. And were treated well. We are definitely planning on meeting there again as we live on opposite sides of the valley. So worth a trip, the food was excellent.

Yelp
2 orders one good, other REALLY BAD! What happened? Having received an email with a lovely photo of lemon ricotta French toast I went there especially to try it. WHAT a DISASTER. IT WAS ADVERTISED AND SHOWED IN PHOTO A THICK LAYER OF WHIPPED RICCOTTTA. MINE HAD A TINY SMEAR. some lemon curd but extra provided by server. I wanted the ricotta!! $16.99 for two pieces of bread! $6.99 for 3 slices of totally burned bacon. We do not like to waste food and mentioned to our server our dissatisfaction but did not ask for a replacement. He was totally disinterested. No manager was evident. My husbands steak gyro was good he said (if difficult to eat) steak was cooked to order. So for the first time ever I had a really bad meal. We may return but sad that an establishment we have always enjoyed. served such a poor meal and just didn't care that they did!

Yelp
So good! Loved my first visit to Perk Eatery. The house made chorizo is fabulous, especially in the Huevos Rancheros with the green chili sauce. Paired with the one pancake we just had to try, made a great balance between savory and sweet. Tip! If you're ordering from the Espresso Bar, order it on ice and get twice as much! The space might be small, but it's light, bright and interesting.

Yelp
Hands down one of the finest diners! Service is exceptional, the place is absolutely pristine and lovely decorated , and the food is fabulous! The red chili enchilada, his hands down closest to the best of New Mexican dining!!

Yelp
Great Breakfast Food! Service was awesome as well! Menu is large so I asked for suggestions. Settled on Bacon Tacos . Packed with Goodies. Well prepared. 8 minutes from my place! This family friendly restaurant is great For Breakfast and Lunch. My friend had A Breakfast Burrito stuffed with scherzo, onions, etc! He had rye toast. Big Plate. Definitely recommend! Lots of booths and tables

Yelp
Meh. Strange vibes. Corned beef beef Ruben was ok. They sell sauce but they won't let you use it... Also they have a WiFi password on the wall that's a joke. But they don't tell you it's a joke so you have to ask.

Yelp
Great service! We were seated and helped quickly and attentively. Menu has something for everybody. Really nice breakfast experience.

Yelp
Always happy to try a breakfast place!! Love breakfast foods!! Unfortunately, this place fell a little flat!! Greeted and sat right away but didn't need to here how tired our server was!! Large menu!! Ordered the yogurt with homemade granola and fresh fruit. It was so dry and not a lot of taste because there was too much granola and hardly any yogurt. My friend got a Mediterranean omelet that had so much dill sauce on it, you didn't even see the egg!! Prices seem a little high for what we got. And to top it off, they were rushing us to leave as it was getting crowded, after only 25 minutes!! Probably won't be back.

Yelp
5/5 - A Breakfast Gem in the Valley! If you're looking for the best waffles and pancakes in the Valley, look no further than Perk Eatery! Fluffy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection--these are breakfast staples done right. It's easy to see why this spot earned a Guy Fieri stamp of approval--everything here is next-level delicious. What really makes Perk stand out is the warm, welcoming vibe. Carmen, the owner, is one of the nicest people you'll meet. He's always around with a smile, checking in on tables and making sure everyone feels right at home. That personal touch makes all the difference. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by. Your taste buds will thank you!

Yelp
I have never been here before, but I saw someone posted on IG. It looks so good, cause I love me some breakfast. I walked in and was greeted right away. The place was cute, nice, and feels comfortable. I waited 5 mins for them to clean and set up. Not bad! The server came over to greet me, I was still waiting for my friend. I ordered a green iced tea. It was cold and refreshing. My friend got here and she got the same niceness. There were so many things, I will need to get or try more. I got the ham and cheese omelette (The omelets are made with 3 large eggs, ham, and cheese. Served with homestyle rosemary potatoes and your choice of sourdough toast.) The food was average in taste. I was hoping for more flavor. The service was great!

Yelp
Great food. Both breakfast and lunch are delicious. Highly recommended. The Moocho Schmoocho sandwich is the bomb. So good. For breakfast the waffles and sausage was so delicious

Yelp
I went here to have breakfast. The place looks nice on the inside and they have outside seating as well. I had a small cup of coffee and waited. And waited. And waited. Over 20 minutes had gone by and it seemed that they were understaffed. I didn't order food. I got the sense that maybe I should come back a different day, maybe when they have more people on staff. I was stung when they told me that my small coffee was over $4. So, the place looks nice. That's all I have to say for today. Will update this review when I actually get to try their food.

Yelp
Plenty of parking at Perk Eatery as it is located in a strip mall by Safeway. Casual breakfast/lunch spot that gets busy on the weekends. Service is attentive. The menu is what you would expect with breakfast, salads and sandwiches. The last time I was here, which was about 2 years ago, the special was pecan pumpkin pancakes and that is what it was today too! We both ordered the tuna melt with a side of fruit. This is a sandwich not an open faced melt. It had a particularly good taste that I thought was the bread but my dinner mate thought was an ingredient in the tuna, either way it tasted great! Prices are a little higher than other breakfast places in the area. Two tuna melts and a latte came to $37! They do add on a credit card surcharge, but I used cash so this did not apply to me today. I think they could include a little more for the price but overall it is a solid breakfast spot.

Yelp
Delicious! My husband and I had a great experience here recently. There was not a wait so we were seated at our table immediately. We had a very attentive server that was well-versed on each menu item and helped us make our selections since it was our first time in. I had the corned beef country style hash with sunny side up eggs. It was fantastic and the corned beef was especially good. Everything felt clean and the restaurant had nice decor. We will be back!

Yelp
Five star breakfast. Saturday outside on patio. Mimosas were perfect. The Eggs Benny had a perfect sauce. The jalapeño cilantro sauce on the Huevous Rancheros was outstanding . Great service great place. A triple D joint for sure.

Lizeth S.

Yelp
Parking with a breeze and service was excellent. I ordered a latte and asked if they could put vanilla flavoring in it and it was delicious. The breakfast enchiladas are amazing. 2 fresh flour tortillas filled with homemade chipotle ricotta, zesty black beans & slow roasted pork. Topped with a spicy New Mexico Red Chilli Sauce... YES!! so much flavor in this dish! Pancake was your typical pancake but what really made this stand out was the maple syrup that was served with it. Highly recommend this spot for brunch/breakfast.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of the ambience of this breakfast place. It's not warm, inviting or comfy to me. It's clinical, which correlates to being sterile in my mind. So that may appeal to some. Service was competent and on purpose. The server became warmer as I generated a conversation based on quality of dishes. For coffee, they only provide sweet and low and Splenda in particular; white sugar at the table and raw sugar on request. I guess they're afraid of people stealing sugar packets that they don't leave it on the table. Now to the best part of this review, the food. The French toast was AWESOME! Medium size Eggs made over medium. ( on menu they say it's large eggs but the yokes seemed medium sized). The eggs were cooked perfectly. The bacon was on the greasy side but still flavorful. Overall, this place has great food. They also know it and charge for it. It was just enough. I felt they could have given three or four slices of the French toast For the price. For just myself, my cost with coffee was $21+ then with tip $26. Even. That's a lot of money for breakfast and coffee for one. Chompie's or black bear or other breakfast places are just as good, but much lower cost. Though, you won't get fancy dishes at Black Bear. So just know, going to Perks you are paying a high price on the food. Enjoy.

Yelp
Our new go to! Diners, Drive-in and Dives featured restaurant. I am not a pancake person, but the morning we stumbled across this place they sounded good & boy oh boy hands down best I've ever had. Must try the banana foster pancakes! Also, my husband who never liked waffles or berries is his new weekly go to. The owner and servers are great and friendly. Oh, and they also have a bar and the Bloody Mary, yummy! Although it could've been spicer for me. We have only had breakfast here, but will definitely have to come and try lunch.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast spot in the Scottsdale area. Great selection of omelets, burritos and breakfast bowls. Good coffee and lattes as well. Service was on point and attentive. You have the option to eat inside or out. Will definitely be back when we're back in town.

Yelp
Went for breakfast. Great service. Food was solid. We had scramble, omelette and oatmeal. Great value for the food. Strip mall location -casual atmosphere. Looked like lots of locals.

Yelp
Been years since myself or Guy Fieri ate here and it is still completely outta bounds. First the service-my 8yo son said "great service"....I'll write--Zach was engaging, genuine and personal. Christmas music the whole time---the season of the Holy Family while we feast is outstanding! The hot coco was made with real milk and the steamer of the espresso machine. The food--chicken in a coup(Turkey stuffing, sausage, gravy and two OM eggs. Dumped the corned beef on top and potato pancakes were a Tyson KO jab. The potato pancakes were actually pancakes not Patties that should be call latkas. Just enough carrots. Deusly!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The cooks could learn how to make fully cooked scramble eggs. My wife just had a procedure done where she can't have uncooked eggs so that means fully cooked scramble not burn not well done fully cooked with no color. After the 3 attemp we finally said never mind. However we still got fully charged for something we didn't eat. This being our first time you would think they would have tried to make a better impression. They also need to clean there soda dispenser cause there fountain drinks tasted dirty. At first I thought it was just the dr pepper but the coke tasted just as bad. Don't think I will give them a second chance seeing how they didn't try to fix the other problem.

Yelp
As a Midwest native, I was excited to try Perk Eatery when moving within walking distance to its location, as it reminds me of many of the local diners we have back home. I drove by a few times and looked up their Yelp page and asked my boyfriend to go with me for brunch after Mass. Although the staff is friendly and efficient, I just felt like I didn't really enjoy my meal. I got the corned beef hash and there were multiple flavors that didn't jive with my pallet at all. I could tell one of them was the rosemary in the potatoes (I HATE rosemary). Something else tasted "off" to me. I then went to eat my sourdough bread and it also tasted "off," like they had just used a cleaner on the toaster before making the toast. I also got a waffle which was good. Although the side of butter they give you with it is laughable. It's like a teaspoon of butter. Although it's more health-conscious, I'd prefer a bigger portion. They had to bring me a plate full of butters just to get enough to butter the entire waffle. I would give it a second chance, but there are many other places I'd go to brunch before coming back here.

Alex D.

Yelp
i recently ate here ,and while the pancakes were delicious and fluffy, my experience with the omelettes left a lot to be desired. I specifically requested no mushrooms or onions, just bell peppers. Unfortunately, the first omelette they sent me came with both onions and mushrooms. While I appreciated their quick response in getting me a replacement, the second omelette didn't measure up--it still had onions and the overall quality was lacking. To make matters worse, I was shocked to discover that my total came to $87 for two omelettes, a short stack of pancakes, and a waffle. While the pancakes were great, the value just didn't add up, especially considering the mishaps with the omelettes. It's hard to justify spending that much for a breakfast that was only partially satisfactory. I hope they can improve their attention to detail and pricing in the future because I'd love to see this place succeed. For now, I may have to think twice before ordering again.

Yelp
We went to perk today based on a good write up online. The food that was pictured looked so good. I asked my husband to take my daughter and I there for brunch. We arrived and were seated. We were left to look at the menu while water was given. 10 min or so later we placed our food and drink orders. I watched our sever check out two tables and then dissapear into the back for awhile. I thought my husbands coffee and our toddlers drink would come next. Not the case. He returned and proceeded to bus 3 more tables. My patience at this point was thin so I walked up to the single seats by the kitchen and asked for our drinks. A cpl min.later our drinks and food were delivered. Food looked okay. Nothing exciting. Especially for the $16 to $22 price tag. My eggs were cold so that was an immediate turn off. The bacon and rosemary potatoes were good but again nothing special. I am not a review type of person but was so annoyed today I thought I would make a point. Im sure they have off days just like everyone else but for $20 meals and $5 coffee you better try harder to get it right. I would not recommend this place. If you want a breakfast place that gets it right every time, go to Butterfields. They are also a little pricey but we have never had bad food or experience. The coffee is also delicious there and they dont serve u the little non refridge.half half. Another thing Perk fails at. $5 bucks for a cup of blah coffee and gross half and half. The red/blonde head waitress was kind and made a point to check in with us. By this time there was no way I was complaing about my food. I just wanted to go. He brought the bill and my husband put his card out right away. Instead of grabbing the cc, he proceeded to bus our table. Grabbing soaked napkins w food spit out from our toddler. Yuck. I watched him and not once did I see him wash his hands. Again another 10 min or so till he got back over to grab the bill. I felt like I just wasted money and had a cringy feeling leaving the restaurant. Not the fun brunch we were aiming for.

Perk Eatery was DELICIOUS. I went for breakfast three days in a row. Amanda was my server and she was top notch - and gave great recommendations. I can't wait to visit again!.

Yelp
Simple place simple food. Arrived based on reviews my fellow yelpers. Walked in and immediately sat by service staff. We decided to sit inside because it was a little cool outside but looked nice. Basic breakfast, I had ham/cheese omelette with rosemary potatoes. Other half enjoyed toast. Not really hungry but ate a little of my food. Always happens! Anyway my omelette was good, plenty of ham and cheese. Potatoes were good if I could keep them away from my other half. Hehe! Would visit again

Yelp
Very nice diner, The French toast was really good and fluffy. Service was okay but overall really nice place to eat at.

Chris S.

Yelp
We went to Perk a few years ago after seeing it featured on TV and the restaurant was busy and the food was great. We went back yesterday and were disappointed. The service was very good but the food was average diner food at best. I ordered corned beef hash and while the potatoes were good, the beef was dry and tasteless. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich and it also was average. No plans of returning.

Ramin P.

Yelp
They charged me 14$ for a gluten free waffle!!! That is outrageous! And then when I asked the waiter he just said yup that's correct? What a joke. Management better reach out to me and fix this.

Yelp
Dog friendly patio! :) I ordered the scramble with turkey, the dish was very filling and had a lot of ingredients in the bowl. Did not leave hungry!

Yelp
Whenever we are in the Phoenix area, at least once a year, we go to Perks for breakfast. Best potato pancakes EVVVER. We found it on DDD and Guy never disappoints!!! .

Yelp
We were visiting from out of state and decided to come here prior to hitting the road. It was Father's Day and knew it could be busy. We called ahead and told them we're a party of seven. The gentleman said there's no wait and plenty of tables. Our house was less than a mile away and we asked if we could put our name down ahead of time. He said, "No, we don't take reservations." We got to the restaurant within 5 minutes and every table was taken. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, which was quite opposite of what we were told on the phone. It would be nice if they at least let you put your name down ahead of time. The menu was extensive- lots of good options and the prices seemed fair. I got the breakfast burrito which was you standard burrito, nothing special. It didn't come with a side either. One of my friends ordered a steak Benedict at medium rare but it was definitely rare and we joked about it being nearly raw. As our food was brought out, the waiter dropped a plate of food and pieces of the plate hit a few of us in the leg and back- made it a unique experience. We didn't care, accidents happen. The staff was quick to clean it up and apologized. Overall, it's a decent place.

Yelp
Eating at Perk is one of our favorite places to eat when over on that side of town. We have only eaten breakfast there. My go to is the corn beef hash. The potatoes are seasoned with rosemary and topped with fresh corn beef and cheese. Delicious! French toast is filling and amazing. Two thumbs up!

Brian L.

Yelp
Forever grateful and thankful for Perk Eatery. By far the best breakfast food in Arizona. For over 15 years, Perk has been a staple in my life. Thank you to the owner, Carmen and his wonderful staff. Delicious! Local, healthy, smart.
google avatar

Yelp
Tried this place for lunch with average results. The Aloha chicken pita was loaded with grilled chicken, onions and peppers, but the pineapple aspect was not executed well. Maybe a marinated pineapple chicken better than canned cold pineapple. The fries here are terrible and they definitely need to be upgraded. By the way, do people still order sliced tomatoes or cottage cheese as a side? Waitresses too chatty about cudtomers too.
google avatar

Yelp
Shockingly delicious breakfast! We loved every bite. The service is warm and attentive, too.

Yelp
We had the best breakfast and the service was excellent. The lemon French toast and Sonora omelette were so delicious, as was the coffee.

Yelp
The food and service was good. The place itself wasn't anything special. There wasn't anything special that I found on the menu just your regular brunch spot food. Would I go back if I was in the area, sure. Would I make a special trip there, no, I have local spots just as good if not better.

Yelp
Very friendly, fast service, excellent food! Love this place! We like to visit this place every time we come to Arizona

The Perk eatery never disappoints. The banana Carmel pancake combo was the bomb! The wait staff is very attentive and friendly!

Yelp
Expensive, and they charge an additional fee if you use a credit card. Met a friend for a late lunch/brunch today at Perk. We didn't feel like waiting 30-60 minutes at some of the more popular places like Butter's or Snooze. We were greeted promptly by the busboy and he quickly cleared a table so we could sit outside on such a gorgeous Arizona day. Our server greeted us promptly and came back at just the right time to take our order. I ordered a Greek Salad and added Chicken. He had the Pancake Combo which came with three pancakes, two eggs and your choice of meat. He chose ham. While we were waiting for the food my friend wondered aloud if he had ordered too much food (he's not a big eater). Once his order arrived it wasn't a problem. It was enough for him, but seemed pricey at $15. My salad came with a generous portion of grilled chicken and included a couple tomato slices, beets, black olives and some feta cheese. And a hefty price tag of almost $19.00. I knew the price, because I ordered it. Overall the food was good, it was the bill that left a bad taste in my mouth. When we received the bill there was a surcharge for using a credit card. It wasn't much, under $2.00, but they should let customers know upfront. I'm one of the few people that still carries some cash and would have used it had I known. It's not the money, the restaurant should make it clear upfront that they charge extra for using a credit card. I've eaten at Perk a couple times in the past, but moving forward I'll probably find somewhere else to go.
