Google
Great experience when I stopped for a quick take out or dine in, extremely cozy family place the food was excellent, pupusas to die for, they have a variety of salvadorian/latin food, with excellent customer service, I highly recommend it.

I am disappointed with my food. I didn't like the Pechuga A La Plancha as indicated on the receipt that I ordered. It's a grilled chicken platter with rice, salad and beans. The chicken was over cooked and dry. I don't think it was marinated at all. The salad was very plain using iceberg lettuce, a tomato slice and a few cucumber slices. There was no dressing. I also ordered a chicken tamale and their ceviche. I didn't like the softness of the tamale dough and the white potatoes inside of it. Sweet potatoes with more nutrients would have been the better choice. The dough did not tasted like it had corn in it. The ceviche was ok even though it may have not been fresh as I tasted a bit of fermentation. I was told by the young boy taking my order that it was shrimp but I believe it's fish that is used. The chicken in my father's fajita was plain as well. The corn tortillas tasted more like flour tortillas. They were thick kind of like pancakes. The restaurant has been under new ownership for a few weeks. I like that they use paper containers which is safer than plastic for their take out but it needs to be a thicker paper or they should line it with foil because it was very damp and flimsy about 15 mins later.

Google
Food is good. No real plates or silverware and the TV is so huge and so loud it is very difficult to be inside this place. Too bad - would be nice to be able to get a good Salvadoran breakfast.

Google
Carry out... Pupusas revueltas had minimal pork, just cheese. Called about it and was offered to get my money you back... but then what do I eat for dinner? Not the first time :/

Yelp
I ordered baleadas, taco de hondureno and a tamirindo with the only Spanish I was able to manage. The gentlemen who took my order was really nice, helpful and understanding. The restaurant was really spacious and clean and empty when I came in. This is located in the Sunrise Plaza off of Rhode Island Ave. The food was pretty good, although it was pretty pricey and I wasn't provided a menu to order from at first. I have seen Latin cuisines at cheaper prices around the area, so I don't know if I'll come back.

Yelp
Newly opened in the Sunrise Plaza. between Seoulia and the under-construction future site of Swahili village, Perlas is worthy of its neighborhood. Bare room so far, two booths and a dozen tables of varying size. I may be coining a phrase, but Latino Fusion comes to mind, as the menu includes Guatemalan, Peruvian, Honduran, and Salvadoran dishes as well as Mexican. I tried the carne asada, nicely marinated but cooked a bit well done for my taste. It was accompanied by a bit of undressed salad (lemon squeeze salt and pepper worked OK), some chufa rice, a ramekin of savory smooth re-fried beans, and very authentic tortillas that make me hopeful that the Mexican tacos will be worthwhile when a run to Taco Bar doesn't fit my schedule. I also enjoyed the Chicha Morada, a sweet Peruvian beverage made from purple corn and spices. The taste might be described as like lingonberry, sweet and tart, with a bit of allspice. No soda or tea listed on the menu, no alcohol. Friendly service, plenty of parking. Hidden for sure, gem you might have to stretch to semi-precious. I'm expecting this one to improve with age.

Yelp
So, Perlas Restaurant comes with a variety of food from different country's. Sounds good until you actually get the food. Service, there is only one person (this time only one guy) and well he seemed to do good at his job. Location, is good you can sit by a window or have a talk with your friends and if you're alone may watch tv (in Spanish). Finally the food. I ordered chicken quesadilla, which came with "salad" on the side. Which by all didn't look right because the lettuce look dried and soggy. And I ordered a pork pupusas which I wasn't impressed by. It tasted dried and the cabbage that comes with it doesn't look good and doesn't taste good. And main thing for the pupusa the sauce. No sauce, only the one that comes in a bottle. For the price I guess it's okay enough. Overall I would probably would come when I forget about how my expirience was here.

Yelp
I've ordered from here a couple of times. They had a hard time understanding me because I don't speak Spanish but I got what I wanted. I ordered a few pupusas. Mixed, just chicken and just beef. Very good. The orchata is good too. In the parking lot of the Sunrise plaza. If you dine in it's a small area with a big tv. I don't think I ever ate inside. Just take out.

Yelp
Please do not eat from here!! They do not clean or wash any of their food my sister worked here for one day and she said she asked them why don't they wash their food and they immediately fired her. So disgusted by them how do you serve food that's not washed and than cooked and that's just sad.

Yelp
The issues are even far worse than before. I wont even bother calling or dining here any more. Thanks Perlas.... now I gotta drive to langley park.I will possibly bring business here if you guys hire people that actually care and do their jobs. Possibly the rudest staff I have ever dealt with. Shame on you

Yelp
Today I spent $27.00 for almost nothing, the food was really terrible. The Carne Assada, was horrible, impossible to cut it, also it was full of fat berley any meat, not even a dog could eat it, I never bit a quesadilla like that one, the chicken tasted a small hard rocks, and for finishing a burned cheese pupusas. I trashed all my dinner. Don't spend your time and money, go to somewhere else. 10/12/15

Yelp
Excellent Lengua tacos here. 3 tacos platter with rice and beans for about $9 is a great deal. Also had the Mondongo (tripe)soup here. The Mondongo soup had yuca, tripe and corn in it and the broth was amazing. Service was friendly and fast.

Yelp
A friend brought me here for a workday lunch. I enjoyed a very satisfying Sopa de Gallina India (hen soup) that definitely tasted like a homemade broth soup with fresh vegetables (no meat in the soup because that is served on a separate plate with rice, lettuce, and tomato). Chicken leg/thigh was fried and a little dry, I probably should have ordered it sautéed or whatever the other option was that I didn't take. Rice was fine, lettuce and tomato was fresh. Avocado salad ordered by friend was very fresh. We had Horchata and Chicha Morada for beverages, both sweet drinks that seemed good. Neither of us speak Spanish, but the non-English speaking staff was very nice and we got a little help from someone else seated nearby (not sure if she was a customer or staff family/friend) who translated a few questions from the staff about options (e.g. fried vs. sautéed chicken). The food wasn't fancy and was priced a little higher than expected, but it seemed like good home-style food that didn't seem afterwards to have been overly salty, oily, or heavy (i.e., no post-lunch nap induced). We only tried two dishes from the menu for this meal, though, so we'll have to try a few more dishes in the future.

Yelp
Nice flavors Peruvian food but out of Chicha (purple corn drink) and I think the owner thought she was giving us favor by including fatty beef in stew. Great flavor fair value

Yelp
This was first time here and it was an interesting experience. The lady who served us didnt understand English well which made the experience hard for two non-Spanish speaking girls. In the horchata we had bits of plastic in our cups so we didnt finish it. I ordered have some papusas because I wanted a friend to try it. I ordered 4 revueltas pupusa I recieved 3 Lorocos papusa. It also took more than 30 minutes to come. Then when it came time to paying she didnt seem confident and didnt really explain how the system works and i ended up paying twice the amount. When I caught the mistake, she didnt know what was going on.Finally someone who spoke English came in and I had to explain the whole ordeal.. It was just a rough experience for us.

Yelp
Food here was really good! We had the baleadas and pupusas. One of the best baleadas I've had! Will definitely order from there again.

Yelp
Food is ok...I guess, not really but its edible and sometimes its open late...but it's way too difficult to order from them. They NEVER have anyone who speaks english. How am I supposed to talk to them or order anything if they have no idea what I'm saying. Very bad business practice.

Nancy L.

Yelp
Ordered to go....the food was AWFUL. The chicken quesadilla was inedible....soaked in grease. The pupusas were swimming in grease. Never getting food here again.

Yelp
Small place but serves some good food. The service is fine enough for a family ran place as you cannot expect 5 star restaurant type of service and this is a good thing I'm saying, to address all of the snobby folks out there. I will continue to eat here at least once a week. The tacos de carne Asada are great if I may say. Great place to pick up a meal after a long day.
