This was my first Escape Room experience and I was apprehensive about how it would go because I had only ever had anecdotes from others to form an idea of what I would experience. The price for two people was around $80 on a Wednesday for two participants and the experience was roughly and hour long. The entrance to the facility is a little odd and feels like you are walking through an old store room with discarded wooden scraps everywhere and the waiting room is quaint but very sparsely decorated. We were greeted immediately by an enthusiastic and friendly professional who identified their role as Game Master and instructed us to prepare while they checked on the status of our room. After a short 3 minute wait we were given an outline of our room's scenario and our objectives therin, our GM did an excellent job of this, before being led to the door where we were let in to play. The room itself was well constructed and extremely immersive. The puzzles were fun and engaging and the atmosphere felt magical! The 'homemade' quality of all the equipment is what really surprised me and the craftsmanship was one of the best parts. The puzzles were 'difficult' in the sense that, with the time limit of an hour, you would struggle to solve them without hints but thankfully hints were provided however this is also my only point of contention. Though the hints were welcome I actually would have preferred they only be provided when I asked for them rather than when I spent too much time on the puzzle. It felt a bit less rewarding to solve it with the hint not being something I requested, but it was still very fun and I would recommend it to anyone. I wish there had been an option to tip my GM and I also would have paid more for a longer play session so I had more time to solve the puzzles without hints. Overall, 5/5, I will be seeing Perplexity again!

Make sure you follow directions and enter under the blue awning...still a little creepy if you are by yourself. The stairs/hallway are quiet and empty w minimal signage so felt kinda eerie. However once I walked in, a very friendly worker greeted me and confirmed what activity I was there for. There is a waiting room and a single stall bathroom down a different narrow hallway, again a lot to desire in terms of it feeling welcoming. A worker did apologize for the "mess" as they are currently working on a new escape room. So maybe it was just timing of a first experience. My group of 8 did the Elliot Ness escape room, we were all new to the experience and it was a blast. Lots of fun ways to find clues and move on to the next phase. I liked that you were able to bring in your phone (since it wont help you, lol) and doors were never locked. We were successful at completing it which was awesome and would definitely go back for a new one. I do feel our group was a little too large, I know they suggest a 3 person min, unsure of a max but many people really didnt have much to do. I think next time I would opt for a smaller group of 3-5.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at Perplexity Games! Our group included 2 adults, 2 older teens (18 and 16), and 2 younger kids (11 and 9), and the room kept EVERYONE entertained, involved, and challenged the entire time. The game was extremely well laid out with clear progression, clever puzzles, and great attention to detail. Our game master was awesome—helpful, energetic, and really enhanced the whole experience without giving too much away. We managed to escape with just 2 minutes to spare, which made the finish even more exciting! Highly recommend for families, mixed-age groups, or anyone looking for a top-notch escape room in Cleveland. We’ll definitely be back!

We visited Perplexity for a holiday team event and did the Naughty List themed escape room. We had a great time and found it to be challenging and fun. Luckily we received some helpful clues throughout the game and solved with 5 min remaining! I liked that we had a private room for the 4 of us and did not have to share with another group. The reason for the 4 stars is the restrooms were a bit dirty and old. Would be nice to renovate the restrooms and lobby area. Otherwise, was a great team event.

Google
We had a party of 8. The staff is amazing! The staff explained everything to us before, we enter and start. When you need a hint they are their to give slight help. We party of 8 got out with 6 minutes left. We did the christmass one and it is amazing! If your reading this, just book and go, you will not be disappointed at all! Highly recommend and the best one we have been to!

Google
I had a lot of fun at the Christmas Escape Room, and was impressed with how well the details were thought out. The host was very nice, and the ability to get the clues was both fun and helpful. Didn't think I'd really like an escape room, but I was surprised at how much fun we had with our 10 year old grandson.

Google
Took my 2 boys 10 and 12 along with my wife and in-laws. We had a blast! The Game Master set the tone perfectly for the room we had to escape. He was awesome! Definitely going to be returning to escape the other room options that are available! 10/10 Highly recommend for a family night out!

Google
Our group of eight worked to solve the "Elliott Ness" puzzle. We had a blast!! We had a mix of first timers and previous players and we ended up solving with 15 seconds left on the clock! Great Fun, Drama, Camaraderie, Reward ~ Do It, You'll Love It !!

Yelp
Fun, fascinating and frustrating if you have been drinking, so Don't! The Elliott Ness room is not for the weary... we had so many hints that if we didn't have them, we would Still be in there! Have a Blast!

Jen D.

Yelp
Our group had so much fun at this escape room! There were lots of activities to keep us all busy and we got hints as needed to stay on track.

Yelp
Great atmosphere the game was tough. Can't wait to go again. I would recommend 4-6 people per game

Yelp
Staff was helpful and kind! Price is pretty standard compared to any other games I've done. Played the game about the big business guy in Cleveland back in the day... can't remember exactly. The story was super cool! Overall though, pretty average game to be honest. I've experienced a lot more "decked out" escape rooms before. Would try this place if you're nearby, but overall not anywhere near my favorite escape room I've done. Seemed a little "low budget".

Yelp
I came out of need with my husband and his brother because they needed a third person but I ended up having an even better time than I expected! Our guide was excellent. I feel she gave our small group the same level of attention and treatment she would give a much larger one. I love that the room was cleveland themed and amazed at how everything worked! Even if you aren't a big puzzle person if you have at least one other person in your group who is and can take the lead you can still participate and have a good time. Thanks for a super fun experience!

Meagan W.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at our escape room. Clove was very helpful when we needed a clue and setting the story up. I enjoyed solving the puzzle and could not even imagine how they came up with the clever clues. Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon for our date day.

Yelp
So everyone was super friendly. We've just been lucky to have very high budget escape rooms near us. This wasn't high budget and it wasn't expensive. We didn't have an appointment and just stumbled in and they were able to accommodate.

Amy M.

Yelp
Great escape room. Excellent service and very helpful staff. Highly recommend it for a night of fun!

Paula R.

Yelp
Our group enjoyed this event. After splitting up the group, all rooms were experienced. Each room had a different theme and the only one that we did not enjoy was Elliott Ness. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Only advice would be, it's not the time to train someone with a large group. The explanation lost momentum when she clearly had not studied the history of the game.

Leah M.

Yelp
My group and I have never been to an escape room and it was sooo much fun! Highly recommend! Unfortunately we didn't pass our mission but we were soooo close according to our game master who was very friendly. We will return again soon!

Yelp
This is the true definition of a hidden gem! They have set the standard for my Escape Room Experience. I love this place and glad I was able to find it on Yelp. This is a unique Escape Room experienced from ownership down to establishment. Located in the midst of an array of establishments, without proper guidance you could easily overlook it but the best way to find Perplexity Escape Room is by locating the parking lot on Bridge Ave off of W 25th! (Yes, you do have to unfortunately pay for parking unless you find street parking which usually takes forever in this area. Parking available via an app) I called prior to inquire if what I was doing was suitable for just two people as it was date night. It was both of our first time ever doing an escape room, and the woman on the phone politely explained to me how everything works and that the one I was doing (Santa's naughty or Nice List) would be fine but other ones they offer would definitely require more people. We ended up running a little late and didn't call ahead to let them know and to no surprise when we walked in another couple was waiting to take our spot as a walk-in. I actually overhead a lady telling them that someone already purchased and they would be here shortly so let's give them time. I thought that was very thoughtful! That went along way towards a successful night. When she saw us, she smiled and welcomed us giving us the energy that everything was okay or even better even though this could easily have irritated her as we were the last party of the night and this could have caused her to stay over or she could have given our spot away. The same woman ended up being our guardian angel the rest of the night. If you're familiar with how Escape Rooms work she played the role of the conductor or in our case Santa's Elf and was very attentive to making the game was an overall amazing experience. She did a very good job of facilitating, helping, and keeping us engaged throughout the course of our time. The game was challenging but very fun. The clues were very creative and so was the ways to go solving the various riddles. Ultimately, with amazing assists from Santa's Elf, we were able to get ourselves off the Naughty List. A lot of the success was depending on our Guardian Angel, who ended up actually being one of the owners. If they are all like her, I can truly see why they have a 5 star rating. She set the standard for what our Escape Room experience should be like and we are appreciative of them and will be going back with our families to do more challenging rooms. They do not offer food or drink so bring your own water if you need it as the games are a hour or so. If you plan to drink liquor or wine, good luck on winning. For both of us the cost was around $70. I suggest booking in advance as they seem to get booked frequently.

Yelp
This place is an awesome space for a large group. I would say about 7-8 adults in each group is max. It takes about an hour to complete the rooms. It's located in an old building the was renovated to make these different story mysteries rooms. Some are more hands on problems you need to stove while others like the Elliot Ness room, you need to be clever mentally to piece things together. There is $4 parking outside. But free street parking all over so I would suggest that. They don't let you take picture inside the rooms and you don't really need phones to crack the code. Yet the flashlight might be helpful.

Yelp
We did the Elliott Ness room on Friday August 26th in the afternoon. Five of us. The experience was great. The room was fantastic. Everything was there and working fine. Our game master (lady) was great! She was sensational. Clues come to you in a unique way, should you so choose to ask. We would highly recommend this room. We had two veteran escape room junkies in our group and they found it very challenging and had great things to say about it.

Yelp
QUOTE -- "Jobs fill your pockets but adventure fills your soul" I came here on Friday (1 June 2018) with my coworkers from a law firm. We all had a BLAST. We were split into two groups. My group went into the clockwork room and the other team was in the Elliot Ness room. My group was given clues throughout the game and had to use them to solve the game. We all had a ton of fun but could not figure out the final missing piece. We were SO CLOSE to breaking the code. At the end, we were told how to solve the game. I really want to come back here and try another escape room. I believe there are 2 total different escape rooms in here. The staff was super friendly and explained the rules before we went into the room. This is an excellent team building activity and I highly recommend this for your team members and supervisors at your job :) **** This is my 109th Yelp review overall. 63 reviews for 2018. I am aiming for 100 reviews in 2018.

Yelp
Cannot recommend Perplexity Games Escape Rooms enough!! The two rooms I've done (Elliot Ness and Clockwork Caper) were carefully designed and incredibly well maintained. Each of the game masters I worked with were a joy and really enhanced the experience.

Paul S.

Yelp
Had a great time doing the Elliot Ness room. There were four of us and it was our first time and it was the right difficulty for us.

Matt L.

Yelp
We walked there from West Side Market on a rainy day. Not much else to do, so we thought we would check it out. My daughter and I have done several escape rooms in Los Angeles before, but it was my sister's and her husband's first time. We all enjoyed ourselves very much. It was challenging, but we got through it with time to spare! I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Geneva A.

Yelp
We had a blast! I was worried when the man working there said the room had a low success rate. But we did it, with time to kill. I would recommend larger groups, we had 7 people in our group. If it was just 2 people I don't think we would of gotten everything done. We will be going back for one of their other rooms. Also you're right in the heart of of Ohio city so you can go have a beer or 2 after to celebrate your victory.

Yelp
No spoilers in this review. As I mentioned in other reviews, the concept of an escape room is that you and a group of your friends are placed into a room and you have an hour to solve puzzles together and figure out how to escape. Good for teambuilding and all around fun. This is a new, very cool escape room in Cleveland. The one caveat is that it's not really an escape room per se because you are not actually escaping the room. Instead, you are trying to solve clues that will lead you to the location of a hidden document (this is all explained to you before you enter the room). However it does have all of the elements of an escape room - the puzzles, the time limit of one hour, etc. I really liked the flow of the puzzles in this room and things happened in a very logical, linear fashion, until a certain point in the game at which several puzzles opened up at once, allowing teams to divide and conquer. There was plenty of stuff for everyone to do throughout, and everyone participated. Because it is new, however, there are a couple of kinks that they are trying to work out. The main issues we had were: (1) There is a cheap way to win without solving all of the puzzles. (2) There was a technical issue that they are trying to work out which forced the owner to be in the room with you to watch at a certain point in the game. (3) You didn't escape, you found the document instead. All in all, a good room to check out.

Yelp
Had a blast! Fun for the whole family. It was challenging and we really had to think. A total group effort. We escaped! A big thanks to Zack, our escape room host, who kept us focused.

Yelp
We had so much fun doing the Naughty or Nice escape room! The puzzles are challenging and the reward at the end is so much fun! Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
NO SPOILERS We just did the Eliot Ness Room and it was pretty challenging but happily our group Escaped !!! YAY !! The clues were fun and it was exciting to be running around trying to come up with the answers! We had a big group but there was plenty for everyone to do. The down side... The guy that was the Game Master was a bummer. He was nice but his personality was NOT made for this job. He told us in a very DULL manner that we only had an hour before the bad guys would find us....YAWN.... I mean, we KNOW it is a game, but if you make it Boring to start it off, well that just takes some of the excitement away. The whole idea is an illusion and the idea that we have only one hour before the mob comes in is part of the panic to work FAST!! He needed to play along and get everyone pumped up !! We wish more of our friends could've come along but the price tag is so pricey that for only one hour a couple has to pay $60 and so it keeps a lot of people from enjoying the game.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were looking for something to do, and figured we would try it with it just being the 2 of us... it was fun to work together and do something wholesome, and ended up being challenging and creative.... Our 'Game Master' or host... was great and helpful.. the place was clean and well kept.. definitely want to come back.. and the PROPS. VERY COOL and original. Btw we solved it

Yelp
What a fun way to spend a couple hours, especially if you have a group of friends to do it with. Our party of 7 really enjoyed it and would highly recommend. I didn't think this type of thing would be my "cup of tea" but I was pleasantly surprised. The one employee we dealt with during our escape was witty, fun, and really enhanced the experience. Since it's in the heart of Ohio City, you have several places within walking distance to go out afterwards to celebrate your victory (or defeat). Very cool experience.

Yelp
Such a fun time in The Eliot Ness experience. Our group of six was joined by 2 others and all the brains were used! Only 3 of us had 1 other escape room in our history, The game master was good at getting the group focused- small hints gave us just the right boost without any big give aways. Every member of our team, with an age span of about 45 years, enjoyed the escape from every day life for an hour. Perplexity gave our fun evening of celebration a great start!

Kathryn S.

Yelp
I just went with a group of friends and did our second escape room here. The rooms are really well done, so fun and the perfect amount of a challenge. Much better than the chain escape rooms I have been to before where sometimes the triggers don't work correctly or the game master didn't notice something wasn't working right. I plan to do all of their rooms before moving on somewhere else! Thanks for a great time!

Katy J.

Yelp
My family booked a private escape room that was Christmas themed and it was so fun! Our game master, Justin, was great. None of us had ever done one before and we all really enjoyed it. We agreed we would definitely do another one!
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Signed up for TITUS room but it broke down so had to do the clockwork room. (Got a 20% discount though). The clockwork room was OK. The description on the website is accurate when they say it is a small number of difficult puzzles. My personal preference is more puzzles that are easier with more of an emphasis in room exploration.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
A terrific girls' night out! My 4 friends and I tackled the Elliot Ness room last night, and had a blast! Great puzzles, fun challenges, all of us got to contribute to solving the room. So much fun, we will definitely be back! I recommend it to everyone in need of a good challenge with like-minded people who want to get their heads into the game. Our host Zack was great too! Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Crystal R.

Yelp
Both rooms we did were really fun and were not super hard. You knew where you were going and what you had to find without being extremely confused. The rooms we did were Clock work capper and The elliot ness escape room.Jacob ! was an amazing game master. He was very super chill, nice, lively, fun, and really got you into the story of the rooms.

Yelp
Went with a group of six and it was an awesome time, good amount of challenge and really well organized. One of my favorite things to do with a group of friends in Cleveland!

Scott D.

Yelp
My wife and I brought our 3 kids (15, 14, 11) here for a family night. We had a great time - we did the Eliot Ness room and the puzzles were fun and challenging. The game master was friendly and set the stage for the game really well. We would highly recommend Perplexity for anyone looking for a fun escape room experience!

Carla R.

Yelp
Tried this for my brother in laws Birthday and it was a great experience. We had a blast. Highly recommend it if you have a large group.
google avatar

Tyler K.

Yelp
The staff was great and the room was awesome. Lots of challenges and very well done. They are going to have a new room in a few weeks we will for sure be back.

Yelp
Went to this and was very interesting. It makes you think in a challenging way. It was a lot of fun. Can't wait for the next investigative puzzle.

Dennis E.

Yelp
The puzzles were fun and the staff was friendly and helpful. The game was challenging at times, but it was still a great experience We had a group of two adults with one 11 year old. It took us the whole hour to complete it. We would love to come back and see the new puzzle rooms they have planned for the future.

Leighan C.

Yelp
Such a great activity to go do with friends. The owners were super nice, the challenge was a blast. Highly, highly recommend.

Alex T.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends last week and had a blast! We've been to a few other escape rooms (Trapped!, Ultimate Escape Challenge) and this one was really unique as it showcases some of Cleveland's history, i.e. Eliot Ness, which the owner enthusiastically explains at the start of the challenge. Loved the flow and logic of the puzzles, really look forward to coming back when the next challenge is ready!
