I came to Perry's hoping for a solid brunch spot with good drinks and chill vibes, but left feeling... underwhelmed.
Let's start with the Bloody Mary. I ordered it twice because I figured maybe the first one was just an off day. First round? So spicy it felt like my taste buds were being pepper-sprayed -- no flavor, just pure heat. Second round? Went the opposite direction and was basically a cup of straight vodka with a sad tomato tint. Honestly, it was like the bartender and I were playing Bloody Mary roulette.
Food-wise, the onion rings were fine, but extremely forgettable -- the kind of thing you eat while making small talk and then immediately forget existed. The beet salad, though, is the one bright spot. My friends get it every single time we come here and it's consistently fresh and flavorful, so I can't knock it. The ahi poke? Meh. Not bad, not great, just aggressively average.
Service was friendly enough, but I sat outside and barely saw my server after ordering. I get that it's a busy area and outdoor tables are a trek, but it did leave me feeling like an afterthought.
The outdoor atmosphere is nice if you want to people-watch or soak in the neighborhood, but for the price and reputation, I expected a lot more consistency from the drinks and food. Perry's has its die-hard fans, but for me, it was a "been there, done that, probably won't rush back" kind of experience.
