I almost never write bad reviews of any restaurant, being a long time restaurant worker, server, manager and chef myself, but I feel compelled to be truthful about my dinner on December 21st, 2023 with my husband, celebrating my recent promotion at work. It was nothing short of awful. We spent a couple hundred dollars for lousy, oversalted food, very poor service and a genuinely bad experience.
We arrived slightly early for our 7 pm reservation and were seated quickly, since the restaurant was not very busy at that time. It was surprising to see how many tables were open, since the parking lot seemed to suggest that it would be much busier.
We were assigned one of the newest waiters, I guess, and he was very green and inexperienced. He gave us a "Tour of the Menu," which was completely unhelpful when it came to steering us away from bad choices, of which there were many.
I ended up choosing the filet and lobster tail, which ended up being so, so very tiny for the price we paid. When the dish was delivered, the food runner asked me to cut into the tiny steak to check if it was cooked to the proper temperature, and it was. Unfortunately, the steak was so over-seasoned with salt and pepper that it was nearly inedible. The tiny lobster tail, which I chose to have "grilled," was also coated with tons of salt and pepper, and it was overcooked to the point of rubber. The promised "butter fondue" from the menu description was not in evidence. Dry, dry, dry.
Our poor, inexperienced waiter came around to our table a couple of times to explain that he couldn't find any bread for us. I guess only the best waiters deserve to have bread to serve to their tables in a timely fashion on a Thursday night. We did eventually get some bread and it was the most delicious thing we were served all night.
I visited the ladies' room and it was quite filthy. The soap spigots were not operational and there was one little pump bottle of soap available. The trash bins were overflowing. I have been to cleaner, more well-maintained restrooms at the local Wal-Mart, frankly.
Even though we made the reservation with the note that we were celebrating my promotion, no mention was made of our occasion. As I walked through the dining room, I saw that about one third of the tables had plates stacked from finished courses, waiting to be cleared, and this was consistent with our experience, as nobody cleared our plates when we were finished, nor offered dessert, even though the restaurant was not even full.
If I could give zero stars, I would. I really wanted to like this place, since it is so close to my house, but it was very expensive and I didn't like anything about my experience.
