Yelp
Hubs brought me here recently for my birthday/date night.
We opted for the $44 special, which is a great deal and gives a lot of insight into a lot of their items.
We started with the salmon crostini for me and the steak potato tot things for Hubs. Luckily, they come in a two piece, so we each got to try one. The steak one was so good. It was rich, the steak was like butter, had a bit of a crunch. It was perfect. The salmon crostini fell a little flat for us because although the flavor was good, the toast was ROCK hard. Like, painfully hard. It was too big to eat in a single bite, but too hard to cut. It hurt my teeth, so we would pass on it and just get the tater tot things next time.
Next, hubs had the pear and field green salad, while I had the Caesar. The pear salad is perfect. The field greens are kinda peppery and the good kind of bitter, the fruit goes so well with it! The dressing is amazing. We loved it. The Caesar was good, but I sort of wish it wasn't garnished with anchovies because it puts it over the top salty. When they are just blended into the Caesar dressing, it sort of mixes in a little better and spreads out, which we liked better than the overly salty bits with the anchovies. I would probably order this again, but ask them to not put the garnish anchovies, except the pear salad is amazing and perfect. We will both just opt for it next time.
Next course, we both opted for the lunch portion of the pork chop and it is PHENOMENAL. It is a huge 18 oz, the gentleman who cuts it table side to separate the ribs from the... whatever the other parts are... said that they smoke it for 6+ hours, and then put sugar on it to caramelize. It is perfect. It is served with the most delicious applesauce that they make in-house. I cannot think of enough adjectives to describe how good the pork chop is.
We ordered two of the sides for two, each are $15. The corn soufflé and the roasted cabbage. We both loved the corn soufflé, it was sweet, savory, creamy, a little spicy... it was so good and definitely worth it. I liked the cabbage, but Hubs did not. The char on it was a little aggressive, so he found it really bitter, and the cheese sauce was good, but a little too salty. I liked it, since cabbage is one of my favorite vegetables, but I didn't love it. I did like the addition of hazelnuts on it though. That was very unique and tasty.
We also both ordered a salted caramel espresso martini for $16 each. I love a good espresso martini, but I sort of wish they left out the salted caramel because it was just so... thick and sweet tasting. I found the caramel pretty cloying. I'm also not sure if it was an intentional garnish, or if we just got the bottom of the espresso carafe, but there were so many coffee grounds that it had to be intentional. Which I just personally didn't like. I will definitely order one of the other tasty options next time. Maybe. $16 is probably comparable to the other martinis in this area, just not sure if I would spend $16 on a single drink next time.
Moving on, I ordered the chocolate crunch tower for dessert and Hubs got the orange vanilla cheesecake. I loved them both, but Hubs isn't a huge Nutella fan, so he preferred his. The tower was super trendy and cool, it is a pyramid of Nutella fudge type bites, with the tastiest bit of peanut brittle I have ever had. I was torn between demolishing the entire tower there, or taking it home to my Nutella-loving kiddos. The cheesecake is so unique and delicious. It tastes like an orange creamsicle cheesecake, which was awesome. The jelly texture of the orange is really cool, the cheesecake was perfect, it had a super light layer of whipped cream on the top. It is so unique and delicious, I will definitely order it next time.
The service is next level. Our server was so helpful and friendly, a nicely dressed gentleman who I assume is some form of manager is constantly walking the section to make sure everything is okay, the gentleman cutting the meat is very good at his job. They even bring lavender moist towels so you don't have smoky pork rib hands for the rest of the evening. The attention to every little detail is superb. After tip, the meal came to about $200, so it is definitely a birthday/special occasion type of place, but we loved it.
