My first solo visit to Austin came with the unforgettable experience of seeing Dear Silas at The Pershing—and what a gem this venue is! The setup is truly unique, giving off the vibe of an open-air patio where friends naturally gather. As you enter, you're greeted by local vendors showcasing their goods, which adds a fun, community feel before you even reach the bar, dance floor, and stage. The drinks were top-tier and reasonably priced, and the crowd? Welcoming, chill, and full of good vibes. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Kyle with a smile is such a delight and an excellent host. We can to see our friend’s show here, a sweet and intimate experience, and he was super kind.

You are not told about the 25% Non membership charge, even when you are not in the members only lounge. A glass of wine already costs the price of a bottle. They are being greedy and pretentious. Very in Austin!!! $40 for 2 drinks! I went for music. I think our music scene has been hijacked by corporate greed. Not cool! No wonder it was so empty with good musicians playing. I won’t be back.

On my way to the airport, I had some time to spare and decided to grab an espresso. To my delight, Pershing delivered an excellent shot, beautifully served with a small glass of sparkling water on a sleek rectangular wooden tray. I regret not snapping a picture of the espresso! I did take a pic of the interior view, attached. It seems to be part of the Pershing Social Club. The coffee shop also has a cafe at the back. The space itself boasts a clean, upscale, and thoughtfully designed interior—a perfect spot to pause and recharge with plenty of spaces to catch up on work.

Lots of seating and the ambiance is great, especially for studying or chatting with friends. I got the lavender matcha with whole milk. It was good but nothing special and not as strong as it could have been.

The coffee was decent and Perishing has a light, airy, and modern interior with sophisticated wall art and light wood paneling. We had iced cold brew which was artisanal and high quality. I’d recommend stopping here.

Yelp
I love this low key spot to see shows in Austin! Anywhere with seats (couches too if you feel like splurging), food, drinks and a reasonable crowd are where I want to be. I've seen quite a few of my fave local artists there for album releases and it feels like an intimate party. They have a parking area across the street as well so could not ask for more. Highly recommend if you see a show or event you like!

Yelp
Came here for a special event with a couple live musicians and brunch. It's a super cool space inside that's very intimate and cozy with a variety of seating from sofas, little cafe tables and chairs, and high top bar stools. Parking is a little dicey since their massive lot of like 40 spaces is only for members. There's limited street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. I highly recommend their brunch menu. I got the tuscan hummus, which was so beautiful, topped pesto and had red pepper flakes swirled into it. It came with grilled green beans and bread. The best hummus I've ever had. Would come back for more of the food.

Yelp
The Pershing was a great little venue in the heart of East Austin. I visited as a part of South By Southwest and the venue has a small indoor and outdoor space. The two times I have gone. The indoor space accommodated several people and maybe 50 yoga mats. There are multiple bars at Pershing, both an indoor and outdoor bar.

Yelp
I've been attending live music events at the Pershing for the past 2 years as a supporter of Black Fret (a local charity funding Austin musicians and the music industry as a whole) and I'd have to give this venue a solid 3 stars. The facility has some good features, but its heavy-handed security measures can come off as quite unwelcoming to visiting guests. For up-close-and-personal listening to some excellent musical acts, the back ballroom known as "Pershing Hall" is great. Here's what you can expect as a non-member attending an event at Pershing Hall: 1. You will need to park on the street in the residential neighborhood behind the property or across the RR tracks near 5th street, with all its inherent risks. Take rideshare or public transport if you can. Onsite parking is reserved for club members. 2. You will enter via the parking lot gate facing Pedernales at Santa Rosa. Someone with a headset or walkie-talkie in a security uniform will usually stop you and ask if you're attending the (named) event, then direct you to the areas reserved for your special event. Any part of the "private club" (where the nicer lounging spaces, bar, and restrooms are) will be off-limits to you. If you accidentally enter the wrong door or gate, expect to be treated as if you are trying to commit a crime and you will be escorted back to the public area. You'll only make that mistake once. 3. The Hall space is toward the back left corner of the property from the entrance gate. There are a few picnic tables outside for the smokers and those who'd rather not crowd indoors. Once inside, you'll check in at the door, get a wristband if required, and proceed to find a seat at one of the long bar tables, the low 2-top cocktail tables, or the few wide sofas. 4. There's really not a bad seat in the house, and the sound system is great, so if you are a live music lover, the listening experience is pretty nice. During the Black Fret events, everyone is very respectful of the artists, so it's easy to focus on and enjoy the performance. YMMV for other public music events, which are published at https://linktr.ee/pershingeast . 5. There's a QR code on each table to allow you to order food and drinks from your seat, but you can also walk up to the full-service bar in the back; prices are typical for Austin these days - rather expensive. I've always had excellent service from the bartenders and waiters, which have without exception always been female. You can check out the food menu on Toasttab at https://www.toasttab.com/local/order/pershing/r-4e456a73-91fa-4007-936b-36a15ea1355b or a larger menu without pricing at https://express.adobe.com/page/eX0P6RhBodTCQ/

Yelp
First of all, the Wendy Colonna single release show was stellar -- a bunch of badass women supporting each other and getting behind one of the most talented singer songwriters in Austin. Lovely evening. Now about the venue. This place apparently has a "members only" element to it, but if you're there for a show or a workshop you get to order food. Yes, GET. It's unclear on their website whether the menus are for members only or includes everyone who has tickets to a show, hence four stars instead of five. Would've been nice to know but we took our chances!) They were serving food. OMFG. Some of the most savory bites I've tasted in a long while. The house salad was presented like open-faced lettuce wraps (stacks of flavor on tiny crispy lettuce leaves.) Brilliant. The chicken tacos can be ordered on blue corn tortillas for us celiac folks and they're fantastic (a bit spicy for me. But on a scale of one to five chili peppers I'm about a .5, so consider the source.) The crispy sweet potato was the absolute best. My partner doesn't even LIKE sweet potatoes and kept digging into my meal. It's a warehouse-y atmosphere with affordable fine dining fare. Don't eat before you go. Eat there. Employees are fantastic. So nice and attentive. Thanks, Pershing, for letting us non-members partake. We'll be back.

Yelp
Really cool venue. Saw Lew Apollo and Elijah Zane, and the sound was fantastic. Swanky atmosphere but casual enough for Austinites. Great bartenders. We didn't try the food truck outside but heard great things. Looks like there's an arcade and other areas for different events.

Yelp
Good drinks, nice vibes and friendly staff. Usually a membership only club but went to a nonprofit event there.

Yelp
I'm here for the ballet. Very Cool place. Uninspired menu for food and drink. There would definitely have to be an event to bring me back. Parking difficult at best. $12 "glass" sparkling wine! Skimpy and glass is plastic!

Yelp
Good service and great music. I got an excellent latte and was impressed with Lilly French who did a half hour of her original music

Mimi M.

Yelp
I took a tour and found it to be sad and depressing. Not Austin at all. Save your $5,000.

Marc T.

Yelp
Quite the pretentious place. The owner wants it to be like old Austin where every day people can mingle with musicians and artists. Except every day people has been replaced with phonies. Several of the people, but not all, who work there are pretty insufferable. But if you want to feel inclusive and spend several thousand a year, then go for it.

Yelp
Location... A+ Drinks...... B Ambiance.... A+ Decor.... A+ Service... A+ People you meet? Priceless This establishment is a no photo, video, recordings kinda place... it's like a house that has sooo many rooms with beautiful flowing designs. My favorite rooms were the attic and dining room. Drinks weren't that great for me but a few of my friends liked it. I asked for a non citrus kinda drink and the bartender made me a lemonade vodka I think lol idk it was not ideal... but we changed it and still not great.

Yelp
If you are African American DO NOT COME HERE. During an acoustic performance I was the third person in the audience to tell a group of 6+ women to "stop shouting." They were yelling and laughing and making a commotion during a song about the artists mother that passed. One of women then told management and security that I threatened to beat their "a**." So management came up to me to accusing me of threatening them and being aggressive. Mind you, I am almost 6 months pregnant and I said nothing of the sort. The other people who asked them to be quiet didn't get spoken to just the one black woman that was in the venue. During all of this, random audience members came up and vouched and thanked me for asking them to stop shouting. The women snickered by and laughed when the management came up to me. Apparently her husband is a member who gives money to the venue so being disrespectful during performances, going in the bathroom with 4 women at a time to do drugs and blatant racism is okay if you have the money for it. I would love for someone to reach out to me. Just so you are aware, black people aren't violent. Especially ones who are visibly pregnant.

Yelp
We were in the back area of the Pershing. My daughter had her birthday party there. The venue was small but accommodated a bar, several sofas, tables and chairs and room for catered food and cake. The stage was up front. Two bands performed and a lot of people showed up. The bartender was great and the service staff mingled in picking up empty plates and cups. The ambiance made it comfortable and welcoming evening.

Yelp
Boy, do I have a bone to pick with this place... Tonight, my sister and I went to see Magnifico. 10 out of 10 stars I give to the band, but the waitstaff who work here were on a MISSION to ruin our night. Let me start off by saying when we first found out about this show, we had no idea the tickets were already sold out. That didn't stop my sister and I because we wanted to show up anyways and see if by luck anyone was selling any extra tickets. We show up to the venue right at 8 (when doors open) and we were "greeted" by a bouncer/ waitress who asked if we had a ticket. We said no but we're going to see if anyone has any extra for sale. She said, "Ok, good luck!" Between 8 pm - 8:45 pm there were at least 4 other people who DID NOT have tickets and for some reason she just let them on in!!?? After 45 minutes of standing outside someone finally comes up to offer us 2 tickets to buy (reserved at the very front VIP table BTW) so we purchase them - score! As we're walking in the venue, the same bouncer/waitress then says to my sister "Oh, I was just going to let you in for free if you stood in the back" OK..? And you were purposely making us wait outside the venue for 45 minutes because..??? We grab some cocktails (the bartenders were great by the way) and the show begins. My sister and I noticed that there's an empty booth right up in the front row, so naturally we gravitate over there. The same bouncer/waitress comes over and tells us to leave because the booth is reserved. OK - so we politely go up, and head over to the other booth (in the front row) joining the party who we purchased the tickets from. Funny enough, that "reserved table" stayed empty the WHOLE night, and the bouncer/waitress in the brown dress with short brown hair decided to sit down at that same booth and take personal recordings on her phone instead of doing her job. Just seemed a little hypocritical to me? So my sister and I are enjoying the performance in the front row, with the other people we bought the tickets from (where we RIGHTFULLY belonged btw) and one of the other waitresses comes up to me, during the show, and questioned if we had a reservation at the booth. I respectfully told her that we were with the people at the booth (who we purchased the tickets from, and the people at the booth WELCOMED US there and told the waitress we belonged there) Then, the waitress said my sister and I were NOT allowed to dance at the booth, but the other people at the table were allowed to. What???? Apparently we were blocking the view, I asked the waitress if anyone had come up to complain and she said "Well no, but you need to be mindful" So we try to scoot out of the way as best we could, but c'mon! The booths are TIGHT and there's not much I can do! Not even a few minutes later the bouncer/waitress in the brown came up to me and said "You need to move out of the way and go somewhere else, these people actually paid to be here" and I said "I bought tickets too, I just as much deserve to be here?!?" and she said "Well, it's different you had to wait outside for awhile to get tickets." And your POINT IS??? I thought it was done for, but a few minutes later the other waitress wearing the black comes up to me and says "someone FINALLY complained about you girls...so either sit down, sit in the very back, or someone is going to kick you out." EXCUSE ME?? Kicking us out for.... DANCING?? This is a QUEEN tribute band concert... not f***ing Beethoven for crying out loud!!! Literally after the whole altercation, the couple who originally reserved the front table LEFT because they thought the waitstaff girls were being RIDICULOUS, and they were nice enough to let my sister and I dance in the corner of the table where it was more "acceptable" for the waitress' likings. The best part of it all, the lead singer of Magnifico said they wanted everyone to get up out of their seats and dance. Which they all did. Did the waitresses/bouncer have anything to say to us then? Didn't think so... It was extremely disappointing to be treated "less than" the other people there, when my sister and I PAID to be there, while others got to sneak in without a ticket. Not only were my sister and I upset by the waitresses, the VIP reserved table was upset with them too. Such a shame to be treated that way... my sister and I definitely will not be coming back.

Yelp
Amazing club! Nata is a MASTER at her craft and never disappoints with how accommodating and flexible she is. The membership fee is worth it!!

Yelp
The worst service for a place that calls themselves a swanky social club. The staff is rude and unattentive. If there is a way to give negative stars, I would!!!! Avoid this place like the plague.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
Hosted a private event here. Service staff was fantastic. Weird black hallway bathrooms were smelly. Our event coordinator left and failed to tell us. When I went looking for assistance the service staff let me know my event coordinator "went home" Then there are the rumors... which all might be untrue but they are out there. When I said I was hosting here quite a few people said "oh that place. With the hot tub parties". So the price tag comes with less quiet exclusivity and more of a glowing red light. Or as Reddit calls it ,"a swingers club with lots of fine ladies".

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and the staff, amazing people, so much attention to detail. The interior is beautiful too

Robert B.

Yelp
I bought tables in advance. When a showed up to park my car the attendant said I couldn't park in the lot even though it was half empty. He said it was reserved for a party. I was told to park in the street. It is a very sketchy neighborhood and i Have a new car. Who does this? I'm never going back.

Yelp
I was dropping off an Uber rider at the Pershing the other night and was met by a very rude valet guy who seemed upset that I had pulled up to the driveway which was blocked off by Orange cones. It was extremely cold and with the light drizzle I was trying to get my female passenger as close to the entrance as possible for the sake of her comfort. The valet asked if I was a member and when I said that I was Uber dropping off a guest he asked in a rude tone if she was a member, which I said no, she was an invited guest. He very rudely told me to drop her off and when I said that I was doing just that he repeated in a very angry tone that I was to drop her off there! My rider said that he was being very rude but he didn't seem to care that his offensive attitude was negatively affecting the guest's experience, likely because she was not an actual member. Not sure what was going on with the whole attitude thing but if I were the owner or manager of the Pershing I would expect that my valets were more professional and polite to the guests. Just my two cents for what it's worth.
