The elegant 4-star hotel has an outdoor pool and is 300 metres from Funchal Marina. The Pestana CR7 has accommodation in double rooms, with plenty of natural light and a private bathroom, including free toiletries. These rooms are all air conditioned and come with a mini bar and a safety deposit box. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The hotel’s in-house restaurant has a varied menu, which includes regional specialities and traditional Portuguese cuisine. Pestana CR7 Funchal (Madeira, Portugal) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"David Beckham has a fragrance line, Lionel Messi a limited edition Adidas shoe. And Cristiano Ronaldo has a new boutique hotel. It’s a modern five-star hotel perched over the harbor in Funchal, Ronaldo’s hometown on the Portuguese island of Madeira. But let’s break this down further. The Pestana is a Portuguese hotel chain; CR7, of course, refers to the initials and jersey number of the Real Madrid star. So what to expect at a hotel backed by one of the most famous footballers in the world? Astroturf in the hallways and Ronaldo’s old jerseys, signed and framed, like artwork, in glass cases. An outdoor gym with a customized “Get in Shape” program, and a large swimming pool surrounded by rows of chaises — so you can get tanned and toned, Ronaldo-style, obviously." - Tablet Hotels

Pros: ||Great location and easy access to town, bars, and restaurants. |Clean rooms and communal spaces. |Breakfast extensive with great choice of hot and cold foods and served 8am to 11am. |Late Check out 12 noon standard. |Superior rooms look out onto port so you can see the cruise ships docking and leaving. |Friendly and helpful staff.|Roof terrace bar. |Rooms cleaned daily. |Reasonable price.||Cons|Can be noisy with inconsiderate room residents. Even with balcony doors closed noise can disturb your sleep. ||On the whole a great choice!

We stayed here for 4 nights bed and breakfast, we throughly enjoyed it and would recommend. The pool area is small but nice with great views of Funchal, we never struggled to get sunbeds regardless of what time we went to the pool. There is a pool bar and a jacuzzi also with a sauna. ||The location is ideal, just a short 10 minute walk into Funchal with a plethora of bars and restaurants. We ate lunch at the hotel once, we really enjoyed the pizzas definitely recommend trying. Unfortunately, the breakfast let the hotel down as selection was very limited. The cooked breakfast was poor and not replenished once gone, most mornings we came down and all the eggs etc were gone. Coffee is great as there is a nespresso pod coffee machine but the food could definitely be improved. We ended up going out for breakfast instead twice as there is an Oakberry next door. ||The staff were fantastic and very accommodating, always very friendly and making sure you’re enjoying yourself. They knew my partner was a huge Ronaldo fan and left a little note and brownie in the room for us when we checked in, we were also given complementary entry into the museum next door.🚪 We had the superior double room and really liked it, the balcony area was nice and room size great. The bathroom is an unusual design with bright yellow walls but overall a nice space. ||We would recommend people to stay here when visiting Funchal, Ronaldo fans or not.

Stayed 7 nights and although the hotel has a lot of plus points, there are some gaps for a real 4 star hotel. Firstly the + points. 1) The breakfast has excellent choice on the buffet and offers a cook to order service. Excellent omelettes ! 2) Welcome and friendliness of the staff. 3) The view from the pool deck of the harbour and the town. 4) Easy and pleasant 15 minute walk to the town and good restaurants. 5) Easy parking in the underground garage - but no discount for hotel guests so 15 euros per day. Negatives. 1) Noise. The rooms with even numbers are near to the road which is on of the principle routes into / out of Funchal. Some complain about noise from the casino which is up on the hill but I suspect this is not as bad as it sounds. The rooms with odd numbers overlook the harbour, so there is something interesting to watch. BUT rooms from 125 onwards are above the terrace of a restaurant bar which is not part of the hotel. It is extremely popular and noisy and open until late. It seems at the weekend until the early hours of the morning. The people talk loudly above the background music and their kids are running and shouting. It is great for them… but not if you are trying to sleep… Rooms from 101 to 125 should be better. Unfortunately … this is not under the control of the hotel… 2) Some gaps in the service… we had a problem with the batteries of the safe and asked that they would be replaced. 3 days later the safe was still not working. We were entitled to a bottle of wine with our reservation. It did not arrive. Normally other hotels we have stayed at it is already there on the first night. We had to ask 5 times. In the end it becomes a point of principal.

Outstanding staff. Professional, extremely friendly and accommodating. Cool design of the hotel and the rooms. For my 13 year old son, it was a very cool experience with all the football and Ronaldo related parafernalia around. Nice roof top pool and sauna. Two things for me were a little strange, even if this is not a major issue. Number one, the breakfast starts only at 8 am, which seems a little late considering Madeira is an island where people come to hike, bike, surf or dive. And the gym was not a gym, but a showboating outdoor rooftop pseudo - gym not made for people who want a real work out, which is, considering what a beacon of physical fitness CR is, super strange.

Starting with the positives, the hotel team were very friendly and nice, trying their best. The room was cozy, with an acess to the terrace. Gym however is not what would you think. Laundry takes alot of time and their response to room service is slow

My recent stay at the Pestana CR7 Hotel was unfortunately very disappointing and certainly did not live up to the expectations set by its high price tag. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel. Major Issues Experienced: • Value for Money: The most significant issue is the poor value. For such a high price, the quality of the amenities, food, and service was far below an acceptable standard. • Poor Breakfast Quality: The breakfast was particularly poor. The selection was underwhelming, and the quality of the ingredients and preparation was notably substandard. This was a frustrating way to start each day. • Subpar Accommodation: The room itself was not up to par. It lacked the comfort and premium feel one would expect from a hotel at this price level, contributing to an overall uncomfortable stay. • Inadequate Service: Throughout my stay, the service was bad. Staff interactions felt unhelpful, and there was a noticeable lack of attentiveness and professionalism that severely detracted from the experience.

We are having a great time at the Pestana CR7 in Funchal. Rooms are great clean and well tended to every day. The Pool, jacuzzi and service are great and especially César in the pool bar who has looked after our every need’s. Breakfast is fantastic and the rest of the menu is amazing. The views are as good as it gets and the weather has helped with it being nice. The location of the hotel is right in the middle and not far from everything you need. The atmosphere is great with music by the pool and not too noisy. All in all it has been great value for what we paid. If you are a Christiano Ronaldo fan then the hotel is right next to the CR7 Museum.

Overall experience was very good. The room was comfortable and clean and for sure the staff are excellent - very friendly and helpful. I broke the door handle to the outdoor sun terrace - no problem sorted quickly. Room staff and downstairs team very friendly. Location excellent as close to town without the hilly walk that other hotels have. Perfect for us as we like to mooch into town and do stuff on the evening and the was very easy. Breakfast I enjoyed and was relaxed. Nice breads. |Pool area was good as the hotel doesn’t have many guest rooms so it was generally pretty quiet and it was nice to have a dip! All spotlessly clean with the pool man clearly being fastidious about his area!|What I would say could be better was the downstairs for relaxing if you didn’t want to sit in your room. It’s a bit like a funky work space you would have in London- maybe sports bar feel to it. Lacking sofas to lounge about read etc - don’t feel like that. Walk into other foyers and they are perhaps more welcoming - and the bar area at the door was a bit out of place! We weren’t using it but the was my thought. We don’t eat other than breakfast and went to town each night.|The prod fr out weighed any cons and I enjoyed my week there with my son.
