I just had the worst experience with the owner of this store. I purchased a cat feeder that is suppose to open with a timer since I would be leaving NY this coming weekend for my brother's wedding. I was hesitant to purchase it because it wasn't packaged in plastic within the box, like you would find on a new item. Considering that the wedding is soon approaching, I just figured I would go for it and asked if I would be able to return it if it didn't work. The owner assured me that I could. After placing a battery in it, the timer did not work. I attempted to bring it back yesterday, and was told the owner was away and only he could do the return in exchange for cash and not store credit. I said I would come back then. I came back again today and was told he wasn't in until later. They took my number and said they would call me when he was in. The regular employees there, I must say, were very nice. I received a call, stating he was in and they handed the phone over to the owner. From the beginning, he was aggressive. He then told me he would not give me my money back and only give me store credit because it has been past ten business days and then accused me of tampering/using the item. It has been about two weeks since I purchased the work, which is as long as it took for me to get a hold of batteries to see if it operated. Of course, I exploded at him because I was not told of this ten-day policy when I specifically had asked him if I could return it. He then told me I had claimed I was going to be coming right back in that day if the product didn't work, which I never said. Why would anyone tell a random store owner their schedule? I did, however, say I would test it to make sure it worked before I needed to go away. After some hostile exchange, in which I was consistently accused of using the product and trying to return it, I wavered and said I would accept the store credit. When I went in the bring the item back in shortly after this phone conversation, he opened the box, smelled the product, and started in again with accusing me of using the product. I suggested to him then that he probably sold it to me used. While on my way out, he said to a neighbor outside that people think "he is Macy's," suggesting again that I used the product and was then returning it. The product was broken, so I am not sure how anyone could use it if they wanted to....
Major a**hole. Beware.
