The Newly Added Hotels We’re Planning Trips Around in 2026

"One of Tokyo’s most singular hotels combines four colorful houseboats into a floating hotel complex on the Tennoz Canal in an up-and-coming former warehouse district turned arts hub. Each houseboat has a handcrafted design concept that matches the area’s artsy reputation, and staying here means at least one night literally on the water in 2026 Tokyo. The surrounding neighborhood’s scene thrives year-round with galleries, supply shops, and a contemporary art space called the WHAT Museum, and Tennoz Art Week, the district’s annual art exhibition, is an especially obvious time to visit." - Mitchell Friedman

PETALS TOKYO - Floating Hotel (Tokyo, Tokyo) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Warehouse Terrada began as an art storage concern, and is now not just a major exhibitor but has turned the canal-side district of Tennozu into a thriving Tokyo arts district. Nor are they content to stop there — Petals Tokyo is the group’s first foray into hospitality, and it is, to say the very least, no ordinary hotel. Here four houseboats in dramatically divergent styles comprise what might be Tokyo’s most unique lodging. Inside, they’re still distinctive, though more luxurious and more sedate than their exteriors might lead you to believe. Naturally there’s not much space for an on-site restaurant, but Tennozu’s offerings are plentiful." - Tablet Hotels

From the moment we walked up, we knew we were in for an unparalleled experience. Petals Tokyo is absolutely one of a kind and provided a wonderful experience.||The staff's warmth and professionalism set the tone for an exceptional stay. They were communicative, helpful, and incredibly accommodating. Their willingness to assist made the stay immensely enjoyable.||The house boats are designed flawlessly. We stayed in Boat 2 and it was a haven of comfort and luxury. We walked into the room to old jazzy music playing and our pre-ordered champagne waiting for us. The bedding was a dream. We only wish we'd booked a longer stay at Petals just to spend relaxation time on the boat.||A standout feature was the attention to technology. The room was equipped with smart controls for opening and closing window curtains. Charging stations with universal adapters were available, ensuring convenience for international travelers.||We really can not recommend Petals Tokyo enough!||

Unique location and stunning room, very clean, comfy bed. Friendly staff quick to help with recommendations for local restaurants. However, the shower had intermittent hot water and went cold in the middle of a shower! The manager checked it out at one point and said it was fine but clearly it's not. It may be due to the other rooms being on the same plumbing and reduced hot water supply? Also, the lights would just sporadically come on in the middle of the night waking us up. It happened both nights we were there. Rather disappointing considering the cost for such a high end room.
