Food was delicious. Very authentic Italian food. Blackened grouper was my favorite as well as the red sauce on the meatballs and spaghetti and ravioli. Fettuccine was also very good! Toasted ravioli was not very good. Ravioli tasted not cooked all the way through, it was an odd texture. Service was wonderful. Iced tea was very tasty. Ambiance was great. It gives old time casino/ theater vibes to me. I loved our visit and can't wait to come back.

Google
Classic Memphis restaurant experience. Atmosphere is old-fashioned—dark and cozy, especially the party room. Popular place for groups in general. Traditional Italian-American menu. Cheese sticks are good. Chicken dishes seem hit or miss, but lasagna, ravioli, and Italian spinach have been solid. One of the best bbq pizzas around. Prices seem high, but portions are large. Cocktails are good too, with a busy bar area.

We have attended a family birthday party here for 2 years in a row. Party of 12. Great service. Food has been excellent. The gigantic shrimp appetizer came with a sauce/dip that was so good, we cleaned up every drop that was left with the bread. Everyone loved their food. A classic Memphis restaurant that is still a favorite of many! Make a reservation! Great drinks in the bar while waiting for your table.

Went here for the first time the other night. The parking was crowded, even at 5 pm, and so that is usually a pretty good sign. I was utilizing a wheelchair due to a recent hospital stay and had my multipurpose service dog with me. When we entered, there was no retaliation from the employees about my dog. We were seated at a table, and a chair was removed to allow access for my chair. The food was delicious and had a generous amount. It was so much I needed to bring it home to finish! Our party had 3 pizzas and a chicken parm. No one left without a takeout box. Maneuvering was a bit tight in a clunky hospital wheelchair and a dog, but it was very easy to figure out. Waitresses (and other patrons) were giving my dog compliments as he just laid by my feet the entire time taking a nap.

I was wanting a good steak and they delivered!! The ribeye is huge and packed full of flavor. 🤤😋 Fettuccine Alfredo is also so delicious. Everything A+++ including the service. I will be back!

This was our first time eating at this Memphis treasure but certainly not our last! We came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday while visiting. We started with the appetizers of cheese bread with meat sauce and the cheese sticks with marinara. The marinara was a bit too garlicky, like big chunks of garlic. The meat sauce was perfect. Entrees of the ravioli, cannelloni, chicken Parmesan with spaghetti, and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The side salad with house dressing was good. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like right out of a sixties mafia movie. There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try as well, the spinach ravioli, the steaks looked great, the steak sandwich and fries. Oh as a side we did have the fries for the little in our group. They were fried perfectly with a good crunch and the perfect blend of salt and pepper! If you live locally there is a cooler by the front door with sauces and dishes to take to-go. We will definitely be back to expand to try other more on the menu!

Google
Delicious food! The staff and waiter was extremely friendly and helpful and it wasn't too busy. Don't come on Monday night, there was a loud obnoxious group of ladies talking our entire meal. Food was great but service and environment wasn't the best bc of the other loud customers. Great portion sizes, I recommend the half ravioli (with pesto) and spaghetti with meat sauce! Could've done with more pesto in my opinion

Google
Spoke with an employee named Shun and he was very polite, he gave great recommendations. He insisted on the bbq chicken pizza and shrimp Alfredo for me and my husband ! It was DELICIOUS! Also had a sweet tea very well made!

Yelp
Date Night!! We had a great experience. It was our first time! We have driven pass this place a thousand times and near stopped by to be honest we throught it was a front for the mafia!! lol - we really did! To drink we ordered a dirty martini & Long Island iced tea, which both were excellent choices, and the liquor was liquoring! Also, also we ordered the toasted ravioli, a small pepperoni, sausage, jalapeño pizza, and a side order of spaghetti. I don't normally order spaghetti out publicly, but this spaghetti was excellent. The flavors were flavoring. Everything was just delicious. Even the bread and butter they bought was good! Our server recommendations were very helpful with choosing our food items! I was so impressed I went back the next day with friends!!

Yelp
Based on past experiences we decided to spend our latest anniversary there with great grandchildren along for the ride . Not quite as good this time. An entree was a bit dry, but this is a business that stands behind their product - they returned the dish without us asking. Rating of 4 based on this and the service. Their stuffed mushrooms were excellent

Yelp
The ambiance and service were both wonderful. It felt like stepping back in time the way the decor was set up. The portion sizes were large and the lasagna actually ended up being better the next day :)

Yelp
Been coming here for years with friends and family but I just think the food needs a revamp. I can't score lower because this is a Memphis staple and I can't disrespect it like that but the food really could use some work. Our salad was floating in oil and vinegar and really shouldn't be called a salad it was basically just lettuce. Our steak was cooked medium rare and was delicious! We had mozzarella sticks which were very good as well. I wish the lighting in the room we were in was a bit dimmer as it was Valentine's Day and I wanted a more romantic atmosphere. Overall I would say there is better Italian out there but if you want to experience a piece of Memphis give it a try!
google avatar

Kacie H.

Yelp
We went for our Valentine's date this year! At first we were really bummed to see some changes to the menu, like them not having the antipasto appetizer anymore, but the food was absolutely phenomenal! It was was better than we ever remembered, and we can't wait to go back. I'll say the service was pretty slow, but the food really made up for it.

Gary C.

Yelp
So no surprises here. One of my wife and my favorites for the past almost 40 years. I'll just report on my dinner. First time ordering bacon wrapped chicken livers ( really good). Now the same meal I have had many, many times (that's all I order). Salad with thousand island dressing. Lettuce, pretty much just lettuce. The dressing, great. Thick! Small sausage Lisa. Great! Cannelloni - it's really good but today the cook was a little heavy on the salt. Really good but not the normal amazing.

Yelp
The food is consistently good. I love the spinach. The Gorgonzola stuffed celery is delicious. The wait staff is always friendly. I love the decor and the music. When I want Italian, Pete and Sam's is what I want.

Yelp
We stopped in for an early dinner this past Sunday. This is a cozy, old school Italian restaurant. Our server, Lindsey, informed us that she was a pretty new hire. No worries, because she is super friendly and accommodating. I ordered one of the specials of the evening- blackened shrimp over polenta, while my husband opted for a hot honey pepperoni pizza. We started with fried ravioli, and it was nicely done and crispy. To my surprise, when one of the food runners delivered my side salad, it was literally a bowl of iceberg lettuce with two small slices of tomato. Lindsey immediately made it right by returning with a small Caesar and also included a free side of Italian spinach with my entree. My entree was very tasty, but I always question serving shrimp tails on in a dish where there is virtually no way to eat it without getting your hands dirty. My husband loved his pizza. I have no idea how we've managed to live in Memphis for over 2 years without this place being on our radar, but I can see us returning often.

Justin M.

Yelp
We were at our table for 30 minutes before we received our drinks. 1hr 30 minutes before our food. No bread. No food is worth this experience.

Yelp
Pete & Sam's is an iconic restaurant in the Memphis, Tennessee area and the fact that this restaurant has been around since the 1940's alone is a testament to this restaurant. Pete & Sam's has a dated feel, but I think that is part of the appeal. It is comforting and I am confident that it brings back lots of amazing memories for anyone who grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up coming to this restaurant. The emphasis on the food here is Italian, though the menu is diverse enough that most can find something to intrigue and delight them. Our server here was friendly and professional and added to our overall experience. Pete & Sam's is a long-standing business and definitely a part of this community. I would definitely recommend coming to Pete & Sam's and dining at a restaurant that has such a history in Memphis, Tennessee.

Yelp
FABULOUS...as always!!! We came with a large group, were serves quickly, all dishes were cooked to perfection, and service with Jonas was wonderful!
google avatar

B J.

Yelp
Has become one of the most overpriced and overrated old school restaurants in Memphis. I'lll never go back again.

Tony ..

Yelp
Food and service was very good. Chicken parm was a good choice but the sides need some help. Why would you have a pasta or meatball side if the dish is served over pasta. Toasted ravioli was ok.

Arlene S.

Yelp
I have to tell the truth, I've been eating at Pete & Sam's for over 60 years. I do believe that says ALL I need to say about this wonderful restaurant. The BBQ pizza, and the pizza in general is worth going for that alone, however, the restaurant is known for it's Beacon salads, Italian salads, and that's just the pizzas and salads, All their food is excellent. Obviously, I the food to eat there over, well over60+ years
google avatar

Bryce S.

Yelp
A Memphis Classic. I always look forward to eating here when I'm back in town and I'm never let down. My only complaint is how busy they always seem to be. Keep killing it. As a side note: On my last visit we had the cutie's waitress, I'm sure it was her first night unsupervised, she was shockingly nervous. But she did a wonderful job and we all had an amazing evening.
google avatar

Tabatha B.

Yelp
Pretty cool decor lots of Elvis items on the wall. The service was cool as the server was able to accommodate a very large group so kudos to the server. Unfortunately, I wasn't pleased with the food at all. Sorry to say that the food was very basic. The meatball sandwich was very mid the meatballs were dense and not very flavorful. The mini side pizza was a very unique option and the caramelized onions were good, but again basic. Keep in mind they are pricy but for me the quality just isn't there nor worth the price. Overall it was just okay.

Yelp
Perfect dinner last night wonderful waitress. Brought home leftovers and had Pete and Sam's last night. Superior management, locally owned. Best in Memphis!

Caren M.

Yelp
Ordered Pete and Sams for our anniversary and had it delivered with Uber Eats. Everything was outstanding as usual. One of the best places to eat in Memphis by far!
google avatar

Kandis B.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Service was great as well As the ambiance. Drinks were strong. Very good old memphis authentic Italian restaurant. Chicken Marsala was to die for. Worth the drive and $$!

Chelsea N.

Yelp
I LOVE Pete and Sam's!!!! Bartenders are awesome. Fish, steak, pizza, pasta, the only way to go wrong is not to go here!

Mary Ann C.

Yelp
Good wine and stuffed celery. Eggplant parmigiana was not hot and sauce was watery. It was just soggy. The place was packed for Valentine's day so I don't know if the dish was just not delivered promptly or just not good to begin with. Cannoli was so hard it had to be stabbed with the fork to get a bite. Overall I was very disappointed.
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Best filet- spinach and fry (with ranch) combo in Memphis!! The bar and music are so "traditional " and relaxing - Sinatra on tap! A Memphis local favorite and a must eat!

David H.

Yelp
Good food, service, and atmosphere. Great for large parties or events. Always accommodate well.

Yelp
Rarely do I feel compelled enough to write a review, but every now and again an item far exceeds your expectations or leaves you completely dumbfounded. The side pizza from Pete and Sam's did the latter. Why this is on the menu I now know. To take advantage of someone who is expecting a small side pizza and willing to pay 7.50 USD dollars. For size comparison this stacks up with a lunchable personal pizza, however there is only one in this box and not 3. The taste and quality is similar, the box for this item no doubt cost thrice the amount the actual "pizza" did. If you are looking to avoid getting swindled on worthless lagniappes avoid this item. Take your money to Little Caesars or any gas station for that matter for better value and quality. Overall there is no culinary magic going on at P&S's on the menu.

Yelp
We just finished dinner and found it to be very good! The service was on time and the food was served hot. The meat sauce is fantastic and paired well with a couple of meatballs and angel hair pasta. The other people enjoyed their meals too. Five stars for this establishment!
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
I had never heard of this restaurant before this day. My friend and I were looking for a place to dine, and she recommended it because she wanted shrimp. I thought it would be a seafood restaurant, but has a nice selection of items for pasta dishes and seafood dishes on its menu. I describe it as cozy place that has been around for a while. We arrived at a good time as the patrons started flowing in fast at the end of the work day. The parking lot doesn't hold a lot of cars, so it can be tight. It is clearly a popular place to dine. Our server was really sweet. I ordered toasted raviolis and a side salad. My friend had the Antipasto salad and a shrimp dish. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal, but I did really enjoy the ravioli. I am used to the breaded and toasted ravioli versus the plain. If I am in the area and in the mood for pasta, I would try some of the other items in the menu.

Yelp
Welcome to the areas oldest Italian restaurants still in operation at the same location, Pete's and Sam's. Back in the day the Italian community controlled the produce and liquor businesses around town so it just seems natural we would have top tier restaurants too. This place is where many folks learned what Italian food was and his place is still family owned and operated. They have a huge selection on their menu with everything from steaks and shrimp to hamburgers and egg salad sandwiches along with the regular spaghetti, raviolis, and Lasagne. During their last update they installed a full bar too, previously it was a B.Y.O.B. kinda place that added to its affordable appeal. Here you will find solid menu items, but nothing you would say was the best cooking you ever had if you were Italian off came from another large city with an established Immigrant community. Their steaks are great, the meat gravy is remarkable and the pizzas are very thin crust. Lately the menu items have gotten quite pricy so the crowds has thinned out and it makes a visit a once in a whole place instead of a regular weekly eatery like it once was for many Memphians. So check it out and see if this might become a restaurant you'd want to revisit from time to time.

Yelp
Had dinner last night with 10 people. Service was great. We had pastas, pizzas, and fried chicken. Food was outstanding. Thanks for helping is celebrate the families August birthdays.

Yelp
Craziest parking lot in Memphis. Had to loop through five times to find a spot at the business next door. They were slammed busy. Wait time was 3 minutes so that was pretty impressive. The waitress was polite and fast too. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. We had spaghettis and some desserts. Pasta for me personally was a little overdone and lacking flavor. While the bread was flaky, it also lacked flavor. The bread pudding had a deep, caramel sauce with pecans and it was delicious. There was not an empty table in this place yet no one seemed to have to wait. The service was impeccable and this place runs very efficiently. I will have to give it another go and try some different dishes. If you haven't been, I say give it a shot, just be prepared to drive a loop through a few times to find a spot.

Yelp
We had higher expectations of this establishment that's been in Memphis for a lot of years! We're from Dallas and were in town to watch our son in law run the ultra marathon and daughter in the relay. They had to "carb up" for the run. The spaghetti was good. Kinda greasy. The salad with house Italian had zero flavor. We got the tortelloni also. It was flavorless The bread is cold and comes with cold butter. We were a little upset about the bill when it came. Every dish came with 2 sides and you could get a meatball, sausage, baby pizza and some other things. INCLUDED. The menu didn't say there's an extra charge for meatball and sausage. The check had an up charge for both. The waiter said oh yeah. Those 2 things have an up charge. Seems like he shoulda told us when we were ordering! They ended up taking off our appetizer which was the fried ravioli which shoulda been taken off anyway. It was terrible. More like baked and chewy ravioli. We won't be back! Unless we're craving greasy spaghetti!
google avatar

Terri J.

Yelp
Pete & Sam's is always fantastic. An old time, Italian restaurant serving a myriad of fare from steaks to pizza. All of it out of this world. I like to start with their bacon wrapped chicken livers. Then proceed on to the spinach ricotta ravioli which comes with a salad and two sides and is served with half marinara sauce and half Alfredo sauce with a sprinkle of pesto on top. I always have their famous spinach for my sides. And a trip to Pete & Same wouldn't be complete without a tiramisu for desert. They also serve great wine and cocktails. Pete & Sam's is my favorite Memphis restaurant.
google avatar

Chester M.

Yelp
If you're in Memphis, go off the beaten path path and try this old school place. The food is amazing and great wait staff.

Yelp
Take out was the choice for tonight! Probably a 60 year customer. Always top quality!

Yelp
A Memphis original - almost a trip down memory lane, with the vibes of any old-school mom-pop Italian restaurant. Went on a Friday evening, which I thought could be a long wait looking at the packed parking lot. No such worries - Attentive service from the get-go. Our server was new, but was well aware of balancing needs across newbies vs veterans. The menu is substantial, and provides the usual stalwarts one wants in such a place. And it also provides for a wide variety. Started with the mushroom appetizer, stuffed with a shrimp/ crab and eggplant mix. Buttery deliciousness ...albeit a hint more of spice dash on top would have added that kick! This was followed by Chicken Marsala, full dinner combo. Which our server was kind to throw in a baby pizza as a side option...loved it! All in all, with the overall vibes, good service, and good food at a reasonable price point, a place to come back to.

Paul Z.

Yelp
Relatively new to Memphis and Pete and Sams quickly became our favorite restaurant. Great old time atmosphere. The food is out of this world!! Prices are very reasonable. Amazing staff and service. Their signature appetizer is the Blue Cheese stuffed Celery. A must have! Can't wait for the next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Took my fiancée to Pete and Sam's for the first time. We made a reservation for Friday night and we were seated very quickly on arrival. Service was excellent and the price point for the amount of food is very good. Not pictured are the mozzarella sticks - 4 large mozzarella sticks and they were delicious, as well as the beacon salad. Very good salad, I love the Beacon dressing; my fiancée would have preferred Italian but also enjoyed the salad. The crispy cheese on top of the lasagna was The lasagna itself was good, it had beef and sausage. It was a little greasy. My spaghetti and meatballs were good. Having eaten here before, I think I like the marinara sauce better then the meat sauce and the 1/2 ravioli 1/2 spaghetti is my favorite dish.
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
We showed up before the restaurant even opened and the sweet staff sat us right away. Honestly, I've had better pasta, but not for THIS price!! You absolutely get every penny worth with the sheer quantity of food. The waitstaff was also so knowledgeable and kind! Best of all, I went to get vodka shots after dinner, and I told the bartender that I was going through a bad breakup. Not only did she and another customer give me encouragement, but the bartender gave me another 2 shots on the house. It's moments like these that help me know that nobody is truly alone and that this restaurant is the place to be. I promise it will be worth your time and your dine. Thank you again to every kind soul I met

Debbie C.

Yelp
A classic - consistent great Italian food with a touch of old fashioned decor and service. Love to go here!

Amairani S.

Yelp
I have been a couple times and each time it never fails. I absolutely love all the food and the service has always been super nice.
google avatar

Yelp
After we were seated the wait was more than expected. Had to ask for refills on our drinks and for bread. My eggplant Parmesan reeked of wine. I took a bite and it was pungent to the point that's all I could taste. Asked my husband to take a bite and he could hardly tolerate it. The plate picture was how I left it. My husbands dish was delicious, others at our table ordered a pizza, fettuccini and spaghetti. All very tasty. I guess I just drew the short straw this evening. Since I didn't eat, I was still hungry and wanted dessert. However, by the time the waiter came back to check on us we just felt tired and wanted to go. (Yes, he truly took that long) Dining room and Bathrooms were clean. Most of the food was good. Unfortunately, the staff wasn't overly friendly or attentive.

Yelp
So we visited here last night in hopes of finding some good Italian food but boy was we wrong. the only thing good here was the service I must admit but the food was not so much unless we ordered all the wrong things here . Our food was was served to us cold. and the drinks they served us were way too strong and had no flavor , only the taste of pure alcohol ( maybe good for those who like a strong drink). we decided to try here because of the mix reviews and because it's says they had good pizzas and I'm a pizza lover so without a second thought we decided let's give it a try anyway. So starting with the pasta, it was served room temperature but the regular meat sauce had a good flavor on the ravioli ( probably the Only thing we liked here) but it was cold. so I wasn't satisfied and then we tried the chicken Alfredo pizza it was also cold, but it didn't taste like Alfredo they had more of like a barbecue chicken but it looked so delicious when it came out but again it was cold . And lastly My husband had Spanish with his Ravioli ( of course he's an Italian spinach lover) but It had a good taste for Spanish but because there was a piece of cardboard found in his Spanish we assumed it's frozen spinach, because fresh spinach shouldnt have the cardboard box in it . and they only made up For this mishap by offer us a free sweet tea ( I ordered one and they told me they would take care of it since this happened) so it was taken off the check and because of that was so disappointed . Since Spindini is closed I was hoping that this was a good Italian food spot, sorry it wasn't. I had better at Olive Garden so I don't think Ill be returning anytime soon...

Deborah S.

Yelp
I wanted to give 4 or 4.5 stars but there were a few things regarding their service which were deserving of 3 stars. Upon arrival was totally ignored by multiple employees. They had only been opened 30 mins and were not busy yet. Once seated we sat there for 10-12 mins before anyone came to take our drink order. That may not sound long but it really is. And to add insult to injury their were other ppl that arrived after us that were already placing their orders and getting their drinks. We had zucchini appetizer, lasagna and filet. They were all wonderful. Not sure our waiter was annoyed or distracted but she could not hear anything were telling her. We had to keep repeating ourselves and it was not loud in the restaurant.
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
We tried Pete and Sam's a few weeks ago for the first time in a while and I was very pleasantly surprised. We had a big table of 12 and the waitress and kitchen handled it great. All the food was hot and everyone enjoyed their meal.
google avatar

Jack B.

Yelp
Good thing they have loyal following. It's the same only brighter and cleaner. Loud and tables too close. American Italian at its not so great. Toasted raviolis been sitting in a warmer for a while, like a hard biscuit. Garlic bread very so so. Mozzarella sticks frozen maybe? Lasagna is meat sauce, pasta and cheese one layer? Spinach not bad, ravioli not homemade or not fresh maybe frozen. Meat sauce tasty. Manicotti not bad until she pulled a large chunk of plastic wrap out of the sauce. It isn't what it was, which was declining rapidly, now it seems less.

Yelp
Pete and Sam's. A Memphis legendary restaurant! It's the place Tony Soprano and and his familia would hang out for dinner and to see everyone they knew. Notice I used the past tense. The place has changed, been gentrified so to speak. It used to be old school Italian -American fare, not good food you see in Rome but good old adapted Nonna food for southern palates. It was dark, cleanliness suspect and had an old school feel. Not. Any. More. They've modernized the furniture, installed new carpet, tables and booths with photos of the old Italian families who emigrated here- you know like every other Italian joint. The food. Ugh. They seemed to have changed a lot of the old dishes. Tried to make it more upscale I'd say. Big mistake. The Beacon salad was a wonderful from 1960s white diner bowl with iceberg lettuce and the famous Beacon dressing. Now it is mesclun mix on a new modern salad bowl. BAD IDEA. Not at all the same. The rest of the fare the same. Sauce not as good. It was a busy night and most of my food was served cold, truly inedible. Mr. Soprano would not be pleased with the changes of thisjoint. Neither would my Italian mom who ate here regularly since it opened in the 50s. It is no longer good old school Italian-American food. It's just another mediocre pasta joint. Blech.
google avatar

Benjamin B.

Yelp
The food is still as mediocre and over salted as it was ten and twenty years ago. I don't understand how anyone can choke down this garbage.
google avatar

Wade S.

Yelp
Had a reservation at 7pm for 8 people. We finally got seated at 8:15. Got our food at 9:30. They had to be seating people ahead of us without a reservation. Felt like a Seinfeld episode. Food came out cold. They were not apologetic. Food was average. It may have been world famous at one time but now it is notorious

Bob E.

Yelp
The food is always excellent especially the BBQ pizza and lasagna Service was excellent. The server did not disappoint
