It was summer when we visited. The better time to go indeed. == This Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of the most splendid church in the St. Petersburg area, in my mere opinion. As it used more green lightings on the ceilings that were to my taste. It gives the church a special green tone that is rare among others in the Northern or Eastern Europe. And it was included in the admission ticket of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

I really love the ambiance and the view. Napakaganda rin ng simoy ng hangin. The bells are also great to hear. I only visit Number 1 to 11 for 400 rubles (student). You can also try other museums, they have a very kind staff.

The oldest church in St Peterburg and a significant landmark. Built in 1712 to 1733, the cathedral is an imperial burial site and houses the remains of almost all the Russian emperors and empresses from Peter the Great to Nicholas II and his family

The Peter and Paul Cathedral (Peter-Pavlovsky Sobor) is one of the most significant and iconic landmarks in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Here are some key points about the cathedral: 1. **Historical Significance**: The cathedral was founded by Peter the Great in 1703, shortly after the establishment of Saint Petersburg. It was built as part of the Peter and Paul Fortress, which was the first structure in the city and served as a defensive fortification. 2. **Architecture**: The cathedral is designed in the Baroque style and is known for its distinctive golden spire, which reaches a height of 122.5 meters (402 feet), making it the tallest building in the city. The spire is topped with a weather vane in the shape of a golden angel. 3. **Interior**: The interior of the cathedral features beautiful frescoes, intricate woodwork, and a number of chapels. The altarpiece and the iconostasis are particularly noteworthy, showcasing the artistry of Russian religious art. 4. **Royal Burial Site**: The Peter and Paul Cathedral serves as the burial site for many of the Russian emperors and empresses, from Peter the Great to Nicholas II. The tombs of the Romanov dynasty are located within the cathedral, making it a significant site for Russian history. 5. **Cultural Importance**: The cathedral is a symbol of Saint Petersburg and is recognized as an architectural masterpiece. It is an important site for both tourists and locals, attracting visitors interested in its history, architecture, and art. 6. **Visitor Information**: The cathedral is open to the public, and visitors can explore its interior, learn about its history, and view the burial sites of the Romanov family. There is often a small entrance fee. 7. **Location**: The cathedral is situated on Zayachy Island within the Peter and Paul Fortress, which is located on the Neva River. The fortress itself is a popular tourist destination, offering additional attractions and historical exhibits. The Peter and Paul Cathedral is not only a place of worship but also a vital part of Russia's cultural and historical heritage, representing the city's founding and its evolution over the centuries..

It was really crowded inside and hard to take in the meaning of the different Czars buried here. I would recommend reading up on the history of the main leaders to get a deeper appreciation. It was very sobering seeing the chapel tomb of Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia, and remembering how him and his family were murdered and dumped in unmarked graves - finally getting buried here with honors in 1998. I feel this is a very important place of history and would definitely recommend a visit! We went with Alla Tours while on a 24-hour stopover on our Norwegian Getaway Baltic cruise in August 2019.

Got the combined ticket worth 800RUB, which is good for 3 days. For me, it was not worth it at all. What attracted me most were those not included in the combined ticket. You need to pay separately.
