Peter Chang like many Asian restaurants is a place where you should go with a group of people so that everyone can share their entrees with one another. By impulsive decision my friend and I came here on a Saturday night without a reservation. We had to wait around 10 minutes before we were seated at the bar. The service was very friendly and good at communicating. The beef was very tender and flavorful. The fish was the brisket of fish, it just melted in your mouth. The only problem is that I didn’t like the smell of alcohol at the bar because it ruined my senses when I was eating the food, but other than that extraordinary experience. 100% recommend making a reservation

The atmosphere at Peter Chang’s in the Columbia Town Center is everything you hope for—and then some. The space offers a warm, welcoming vibe paired with great music that sets the tone for an enjoyable dining experience. Yan, the manager, has a way of making every guest feel right at home, treating you more like family than a customer. Cenia and our guy David (aka “Dak Prescott”) are truly the icing on the cake, delivering service that keeps us coming back. Peter Chang’s has become one of our regular spots, and for good reason. Food was good! I ordered the chicken in schezuan hot & numbing sauce with chicken fried rice. It was a great level of spice for someone who loves spicy food. My boyfriend ordered the half peking duck which was surprisingly small for the price.. He seemed to enjoy it tho. We also ordered the soup dumplings which were really good. The decor in the restaurant was beautiful but the acoustics were terrible, you need to scream at each other to be heard unfortunately. Overall, we enjoyed trying this place for the first time and will definitely be back to try some different items.

Weekend all you can eat dim sum for $36/pp, 90 minutes limit. Good service & great variety on menu. Soup dumplings & scallion pancake are great. Definite pass on pork ribs w/pumpkin.

We recently tried the all you can eat dim sum. It ends at 3 pm. This is a great option for groups or those who like to try a little of everything. I would recommend the lotus leaf steamed rice. This has the best flavor of all the local options. The spring rolls were great and Crispy. The fried flounder was spicy and flavorful. I would highly recommend the experience. Your whole table has to choose the all you can eat option.

A Mixed Experience at Peter Chang I recently visited Peter Chang in the trendy Merriweather District, and while the food was good, the overall experience was marred by some significant issues. The dishes I ordered were good, but not exceptional. The Dragon Eggplant dish, which I've had at other Asian restaurants, didn't quite live up to my expectations. However, the Bubble Bread was a highlight - it was delicious and a great start to the meal. Despite being located in a trendy district, the restaurant's decor lacked class and sophistication. The atmosphere felt somewhat disjointed from the upscale vibe of the surrounding area. The service was good, with our server attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. However, the overall experience was impacted by the chaotic seating arrangement. We were seated right in the middle of restaurant where all waiters keep passing close to the table. Bad experience. Oh, the seating! It was a busy weekend evening without a reservation, and we got "beat up" while waiting. The wait time was around 30 minutes, which wasn't terrible. Given the location and the food quality, I'd say the prices were somewhat justified. However, the experience would need to be more consistent and polished to warrant repeat visits. Other Peter Chang in my area fair much better.

Great food!! we really enjoyed the chili pepper chicken and chicken fried rice. The only drawback was that the restaurant can get quite noisy and loud, especially on a busy Friday night when it’s full.

If you’re searching for an ayce dim sum spot that is delivering all the hits and some… check out Peter Changs! The menu is extensive for an ayce menu and it does not disappoint! We ordered about 18 items and my favorite was the sad cold jelly, shrimp rolls, salt and pepper baby shrimp, sweet potato sesame buns and the grandma noodles. Amongst others but I will I was not a huge fan of the mala beef as the noodles were too soggy for me and the braised pork with rice as it was too sweet! The service was excellent! Our waiter was attentive and prompt to clear the table and take the next round of orders. The servers were also very prompt in ensuring the dishes made it to the right table and they definitely had their system down! The restaurant got packed quickly! A lot of larger groups and families filled the place! They also have an outdoor bar seating area which would be amazing for nice weather!

Always a solid experience going to Peter Chang's. Everything we order is always delicious and the staff has always been fast and kind. My only minor gripe/sadness is that their happy hour only applies to the bar (and they have a cool bar that extends to their outdoor patio area). One of my favorite Chinese cuisine spots in the Columbia area that has their own unique flair on all of their dishes.

Overall: 3 stars plus. Parking: 3 stars. Plenty, but distant or limited during busy times. Staff service: 4 stars. Friendly and supportive, but the floor has blind spots where the customer cannot easily be seen when needing help. Meal quality, value: 3 stars plus. It is Chinese food, but Americanized. Ambiance: 5 stars. Welcoming and clean.

We stopped by during out restaurant hopping night. For the price, we weren't so impressed with the food. Soup dumplings were pretty dried and not enough juice. Hot n sour soup was average. Crispy pork was pretty good in my opinion. Service was quick and friendly.

I've been to Peter Chang several times over the years and I think something in the kitchen must have changed because some of the entrees (mala beef, mapo tofu) are much saltier and some are very lackluster in flavor or stale (popcorn shrimp). The only consistent menu item is their peking duck and the soup that comes with it, which both taste great. The service is attentive and kind, which is always appreciated. Other than that, I don't think I'd recommend this restaurant anymore unless you have a serious craving for peking duck.

Hi Yelpers, I was in Columbia for my birthday and decided to grab lunch with my little girls and I looked on Yelp and found Peter Chang. The host was very warm and we were escorted to our seats. The first thing I noticed was the table keep sliding away which was really annoying. Basically it had no resistance to the floor from keeping it from not moving back and forth. I was going to ignore this until my 5 year old mentioned how the table was bothering her because one little lean on the table and it moves. We table on the table by the glass window directly in front of the Bar. We ordered Mangolian Beef, Orange Chicken, combination fried rice, steam dumplings and General So ( OMG I forgot the spelling please forgive me). I found the dishes we ordered to be way salty. Except the Rice and Steamed Dumplings which were very nice. The vibe was nice and my server Dan was fantastic. The food was just too salty. If you like Salty food then go for and I would definitely recommend the place but if you don't like salty food then skip.

I took my mom here for a light lunch of Peking duck and soup dumplings. The Peking duck is a solid choice, especially bc it was served with a vegetable tofu soup with duck bone broth, I also like that the duck was crispy, served with cucumbers, scallions and hoi sin sauce.

Delicious eggplant entree, duck crispy rolls and spicy beef noodles soup. Jasmine tea was fragrant. Our waiter was excellent despite the crowd during Christmas tree lighting.

We took our mother to Peter Chang Restaurant in Columbia for her 78th birthday dinner. We were able to get immediate seating for 10 people at 6PM on Saturday without reservations. We ordered several appetizers and main dishes. Food came out relatively fast. Some of the dishes such as the Congqing chicken, Mapo Tofu, Peking duck, and Pea Shoots were spot on. While other dishes such as Kung Pao chicken, Bang Bang shrimp, and calamari were a disappointment.

We made a reservation for lunch on a Saturday which was the correct decision considering how crowded it was. We chose to do the AYCE dimsum which was very affordable $36pp. There were soooo many options and the portions were small allowing us to try an even larger range of dishes. My favorite is always the scallion bubble pancake. I also enjoyed the pork soup dumplings, spicy duck, abalone, and custard buns. Everything was made to perfection. Our server was very attentive and also came by often to ask if we wanted to order more. The gratuity was automatically applied for AYCE. I did notice when I used to come here, our servers typically spoke Chinese which was perfect for our grandparents who don't speak English but in our recent times coming, we weren't able to communicate in Chinese anymore. There are two single stall bathrooms in the back and parking was kinda hard to find since there was a concert at Merriweather, we ended up parking on the 6th floor of the symphony woods garage.

Deliciousssss. Their eggplant dishes are amazing and the duck (roasted and pecking) is great. We get it to go all the time and it tastes delicious at home as well.

Peter Changs is fire! I came here on Saturday with my family for lunch and we got the AYCE which is actually a deal we found on their IG account, but not on the website. There was a wide variety of small dishes, street food, and dim sum to choose from. While I was experimenting with the hot & spicy pigs feet (which was unexpected fire), my family played it a little more safe with different soups, and dumplings. We also ordered 1/2 of a peking duck, which wasn't on the AYCE menu, but is definitely a must try. A few of my favorites were the... Hot & Spicy Chicken, This dish slaps. Small fried pieces of chicken with big big flavor. Braised Pork Knuckle W/ Bean Paste: It's like the best pork & beans you'll ever have in your life. My only complaint is that I didn't ask for rice. I could've eaten this on rice all day and been happy. Grandma's Noodle: Homemade noodles tossed in pepper oil, simple, but Fire! Mala Beef Brisket Noodle: Basically brisket noodle soup, extra fire! I also tried the Braised Pork W/ Baby Abalone Skewers, but then I googled Abalone. I didn't like the sauce as much as other dishes. The abalone reminded me of a tough scallop or calamari. The Sweet Glazed Pork Belly, was really sweet, and may have been my least favorite of the day, but with so many other options, I wasn't mad. Everything ain't for everybody. We also got 6 dollar mimosas with of AYCE and so we did...lol The thing that I liked the most was getting a chance to try so many different types of food. I'm always telling my kids to try new things, and this was the perfect place for them to experiment while still having other options that were more familiar. The staff here was fast and friendly, and with reservations, we had almost no wait between arriving and being seated. Other guest that walked in were having to wait to be called. all that aside, Peter Changs is Fire!!!

Very good Sichuan restaurant. My husband and I come here often. The dishes are pretty good, and many are spicy. Ask the waiter to adjust the spice or numbing factor if you wish. There are vegetarian options for those who prefer. We enjoy the Kung Pao chicken, the Mongolian beef, and the fried rices. We weren't super impressed by the Shrimp in Pepper sauce. They have a well stocked bar. Service is always friendly and helpful. Front staff always greets. Very small dining area so snag a reservation prior to coming out, especially on busy weekends. There is outdoor seating during warmer weather, which opens up more dining space. Give them a try!

Peter Chang's? More like Peter Bang, because these flavors hit hard. Came here for lunch on a Monday with a party of 3 and it wasn't too busy. No wait. We ordered off the lunch special menu. Each dish came with a side of rice (white or brown). Kung Pao Chicken: smoky, crunchy, saucy. Can't go wrong with Kung Pao tbh. Bubble Pancake: puffy, crispy, and dunkable with the curry sauce. Szechuan Double Cooked Pork Belly: spicy, good fat-to-flavor ratio. However, there was more green onion-to-meat ratio. Mapo Tofu: silky and numbing in the best way. It slaps. Pro tip: You can adjust the spice levels, so whether you want a gentle tingle or full on fire, they can accommodate it for you. Overall, a bit pricey, but lunch specials save the day. Service was quick and vibes were chill. Bonus: They've got outdoor seating that's dog friendly, and your pup can even get their own "Pup Platter." I'll have to come back just for that to spoil my dog (and then myself)

Lunar New Year Special Menu Had an enjoyable Chinese New Year eve dinner at @peterchang_columbia 5/5 There was a little hiccup in the beginning due to the table light was broken. It was resolved after some moving around. The Chinese new year special menu was the bomb , hope they keep some of the items as regular items, like the lobsters and whole fish. Even though the restaurant was super busy due to lunar new year celebrations, servers remained attentive, efficient and very friendly!

The Chinese food options in Columbia are few and far between so if you have a craving then this can fill it. It's a nicely decorated restaurant that is dark in some parts and light and airy in others. The taste of food is definitely Americanized. XLB were good. Beef was ok. Dragon eggplant seemed to be drowning in grease and falling apart from the spiral cut. Dishes were very expensive, at around $20 an entree but the portions are reasonably large. Still though, far too expensive for what you are getting.

Be sure to make a reservation as this place is always hopping! The service is friendly, fast and amazing! You have to try the bubble pancake! Not something you could get for takeout snd you'll see why! As for food, you really can't go wrong. Spice levels go up to super. I can say that just below super is nice but super is likely manageable if you're a spice head like me. The crispy fish in black bean sauce comes served on a fried fish "bowl" that you just have to experience! You can eat some of it but the fish is so bony you won't get far. The dish is quite tasty. The bang bang shrimp is also a wonderful appetizer. I can also recommend the chili cubed dish and add numbing powder. Definitely a vibe with great food!

Had a good lunch experience today. It wasn't super packed and was easy to get seated without a reservation. I'm sure weekends or with large groups, it's a different story. I was catching up with a friend. Our server was attentive but not too overbearing. She made sure our water glasses were filled and our food came out to our liking. I had the spicy garlic chicken with white rice (one of the lunch specials). I would have liked it to be spicier but it was flavorful. My friend had a tofu entree and enjoyed it as well. Parking over here is tight but at least it's free. I would visit again.

Hmm. We really wanted to love this place but it was just okay. The place was packed but it just didn't wow us. The restaurant is clean and modern, making it a nice spot to enjoy Chinese food if you're willing to overlook a few inconsistencies. We'll give it one more try.

If you're looking for delicious Chinese food, this is the place to go. They let you customize the spiciness and numbing levels which is plus, but I found that their dishes weren't overwhelmingly spicy. We ordered a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes which were all really delicious. I enjoyed the mappo tofu, Congqing Chili chicken, and green beans. All the dishes were a decent portion and perfect for family style sharing. I would definitely come back again.

The food was very good. I wish the spicy dishes were more spicy and numbing though. Compared to an authentic Szechuan restaurant, I will say the flavors here are very mild. The scallion pancake here is not your usual Chinese version, it is more like an Indian Chole Bhature than a Chinese pancake. The beef roll had two versions, a normal and a numbing version but both didn't taste spicy or numbing enough for me. I did really like the Peking Duck, it was authentic. Grandma's noodles were a little bland for me, I wish it had more of a kick. The restaurant and bathroom was very clean. I like the decor and atmosphere. Not too many large tables so I recommend reserving ahead if you have a big group.

To get to the point - I love Peter Chang's and come here all the time. The waitstaff are nice, the restaurant is clean, it's a nice place to eat. I pretty much like everything I've tried on the menu. It's clear that the food is made fresh and with high quality ingredients. Deets--- Tea - it's a pot for the table for like $5. I like the chrysanthemum the most; it's really fun with the little sugar rocks. Jasmine green is next. Then oolong which I felt like got a little too bitter as it continued to steep. Main menu: The puffy scallion bubble pancake is unique to Peter Chang restaurants. It's really fun. Gotta eat it fresh. The Peking duck is always a solid choice, and the menu on the table says you can get free soup with it (which you should ask for bc it's good!) Otherwise, I've been enjoying trying different things on the menu - most are good. Dim sum: is excellent and super high quality (a la carte style). For sweet stuff - I strongly recommended the purple sweet potato sesame balls and the black gold salted egg custard buns. For savory - we almost always get the congee with flounder fish. Very comforting. I'm very glad Peter Chang is here in Columbia. Will continue to come often.

Went back for round 2 not too long after our first visit and it was just as good if not better than the first time! Luckily we got to go with more friends so we tried more items on the menu. My new favorite is the crispy eggplant!! The service was great too- very quick service !!

Ok, so I visited here for the first time with my boyfriend. Wasn't really in the mood. But I walked out with a different mindset. Idk what was more amazing, the actual food or the customer service!! My boyfriend eats anything so he's never a help but my waitress Bre !!! She listened to what my normal food palette is and she directed me to the best suggestions on the menu - the scallion bubble pancake was so much more convincing to try even after it got to the table because of Bre 7/10;shared the 3cup fish with my boyfriend- 8/10; the mayo tofu I tried on my own without recommendation and was not disappointed -8/10. Really into mocktails right now, usually you go to places and they're phony.. LOVED THEM ! I wanted to hate this place so bad but with our server Bre being attentive, honest, patient (I'm indecisive asf) and approachable. I'm not coming back unless Bre is waiting on me. If you're ever in the area and you stop in ! You want good vibes with the person bringing your food and handling your money *ASK FOR BRE*

This location is small but thankfully able to accommodate seating in a reasonable timeframe. The staff are friendly and helpful. My favorite dish is the bamboo fried flounder. The flavors standout from traditional preparations. Everything was flavorful and was served promptly and hot. Other notable items are the shrimp dumplings, fish rolls and lo mein. The bang bang shrimp could have larger shrimp (expect more dough).

I gave this spot a try for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I had a French Martini and shrimp dumplings. Everything was delicious, from the drink to the meal itself. Surprisingly I was full from the shrimp dumplings by themselves. I wanted to try something else on the menu but I will have to wait til the next visit. I will definitely be back another day, parking was easy to snag during the lunch hour and the food came in no time. I will say the service was pretty good as well. I didn't have to wait for a waiter which was awesome she was always stopping by or at a minimum walking by. The ambiance is very cute. I would definitely add this to my list of places to try for dinner it seems to be very popular around that time.

Great happy hour spot to whine down with friends I had some time to spare and Peter Chang was the only spot that had hh after 6pm and I'm glad that I came. I had the smoke'n' Apple which is a smoked bourbon drink with apple juice and It was blended well. The smokiness added a good taste and It well. Our bartender Dan Dan knew what she was doing!!!!!

First-time customer here! The location is great -- right across from Busboys and Poets -- and the ambiance is cozy with a smooth R&B vibe that sets a nice tone for the meal. Service was okay; our server could've checked in more often, but it didn't completely take away from the experience. Unfortunately, the food was another story. I was hoping for something more memorable, but overall, it felt pretty average. We started with the vegetable egg rolls, which were disappointing -- small, frozen-style rolls you could probably find at BJ's and reheat at home. At $5, I expected more than tiny finger-sized egg rolls. The fried pork belly didn't work for us at all. Think soft pork rinds -- and as someone who's not a fan of pork rinds to begin with, this dish just wasn't it. We ended up sending it back. My husband ordered the Mongolian beef, which was decent, though heavy on broccoli and light on actual beef. A little more seasoning could've elevated the dish -- again, just average. I went with the sweet and sour chicken, which didn't meet expectations. I was hoping for fresh veggies (besides broccoli) or pineapple -- something to balance the sweetness. What I got was chicken with a sweet sauce, and that was about it. No real "sour" element, no fresh peppers or onions -- just flat, but good. One thing to note: rice isn't included with your entrée -- it's an extra $2.50 per bowl. That felt like an unnecessary upcharge. Would I return? Maybe. But honestly, this isn't a place that'll be top of mind when I'm choosing where to eat. It has potential, but the menu could use a serious upgrade to better match the price point.

The staff were very attentive but the food was very underwhelming. Ordered the dan Dan noodles, crispy duck, and shrimp+scallop with peppers. I was expecting authentic Chinese cuisine and was very very disappointed in the flavor (bland) and spice level (level 2 and 3 were comparable to Buffalo sauce). The portions are reasonable to share, but not traditional "family" size. Also, the price point is outrageous. It's pretty pricey which wouldn't be an issue if the food was better or more flavorful. You're pretty much paying for the location factor. Overall, despite the hype, I wouldn't recommend.

Came by before a concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion. The restaurant was very conveniently located at a town center not even 10 minutes walking from the venue parking lot/garage. Decor was really nice. Lots of natural light, and comfortable seating. On the smaller side so if you have a large party I'd recommend calling ahead to avoid a wait. We walked in with a party of 4 around 5-6 pm on a Sunday and were seated immediately. Food was delicious! Seemed authentic in my unprofessional opinion lol. Certain dishes have the option to be coated in a Szechuan seasoning that has a numbing effect. Pretty good flavor all in all. My favorite dishes were the crispy pork belly and the shrimp lo mein. Drinks were also great! Got the tropical baiju (Chinese rice liquor if I recall) and a couple of the other baiju drinks. Our server Destiny was attentive and friendly. Explained the menu and specials in detail! Would really recommend checking out Peter Changs if you're in the area or looking for delicious Chinese food.

Lunch was good. Everything was quick and come out correctly made with no issues. The lunch menu is a pretty good deal with a wide variety of choices. The food was good but it wasn't spicy enough, especially the spicy numbing chicken. The baiju cocktails were unfortunately all too sweet. We came back another time for dinner since there were other dishes we wanted to try, and were seated right away. Then, we waited over 20 minutes for a server to come to the table, could not even order a drink. Our table was right in the center of the dining room with lots of activity around, so the staff could definitely see us. The lack of acknowledgement was frustrating, and we were finally fed up and left.

I enjoyed my food here at Peter Chang. We ordered a bunch of things for the table to share including lo mein noodles, egg fried rice, combination fried rice, and Congquin chili chicken. The chicken was cooked with dry chili pepper, which was an interesting taste. I can't say I loved it, but it was interesting to try. We asked our waiter if they had any type of sauce that can be added to the chicken, and she had the kitchen make a garlic sauce for us, and the garlic sauce helped tremendously! She also brought various pepper sauces as well.

Our second experience here was amazing, highly recommend their all you can eat dim sum and street food menu. It's only served on the weekends from 11-3pm. Service was great, food came out quickly and dishes were cleared as soon as we were finished. All the servers were very welcoming and polite. We enjoyed everything we ordered! Came early on Sunday, so it wasn't busy or loud, which made for an enjoyable meal. It started getting louder as more people came in for lunch.

Had great night for dinner-server was very knowledgeable and helpful-we had the dragon eggplant which I thought was really tasty! Just had the perfect spicy and tangy! Also had the beef chow fun which I thought was good but not the best I ever had or anything- The pork soup dumplings from appetizer menu was cooked just right and full of flavor and the flounder from the small plates was generous portion which had the perfect fry and spice on it-was really good! Had purple sweet potato's sesame ball for dessert which was super yummy ! All in all great night-make reservations as the place was packed! Ambiance is fine although tables are somewhat close together -is lively and bright

The good is decent the fried rice was good the shrimp had no flavor. The shrimp dumplings were the same no flavor in the shrimp. The pumpkin and bean donut was interesting. The bean and pumpkin were like a paste but the fried donut part was good. We had the chicken pettus wraps and they were decent but uneventful the ambiance is casual and very tight seating. The service was excellent Would we go back? Maybe maybe not

2nd review of Peter Chang's We enjoyed a break from the summer heat at Peter Changs. The decor is clean, bright, several large viewing windows. The blinds were drawn to block the afternoon sun but allowed for more than ample lighting. We were seated quickly and we arrived before the main lunch hour rush so there were several seats open. Food- our server made sure we understood just how spicy some dishes were prepared and we could make requests for even less heat if we preferred. Food- -Scallion Bubble Pancake- appeared a lot larger than the first time I shared one on my previous visit. The curry dipping sauce also seemed to have more flavor without being overpowering and was very tasty. We shared this with 5 people. -Shrimp Dumplings - were steamed and had a generous sized shrimp in each dumpling with 2 sauces for dipping. Shrimp was a full mouthful and tender not tough. - Chicken Lettuce Wraps- More than enough lettuce wraps were provided and the flavors and sauce were quite delicious. - Crispy Pork Belly - generously sized portions of thinly sliced pork belly came very crispy with a bit of heat and scallions. It was perhaps missing a sauce to dip in but I used my leftover sauces from my shrimp dumplings and it was very tasty. - Lion's Head Pork Meatball Pan Fried Noodles- my friend enjoyed this dish, the meatball was very filling but slightly soft in consistency. The sauce went well and noodles made a nice support for the meatball and was crispy crunchy. - Server was very attentive and helpful in making sure we could adjust the levels of spiciness per each individual. A nice enjoyable place to have lunch. Coming earlier helped avoid any crowds. This whole Merriweather district has new restaurants opening throughout the year.

We visited Peter Chang at the last minute around 9pm on a Thursday. Columbia area shuts down early ! The restaurant was so friendly when they told us they were closing in 30 min but would still serve us food. We were seated at a very clean table in between two parties. One table had a beautiful baby girl that kept smiling at me and the other party was enjoying conversation and a table full of food. This proved to me that this restaurant was family oriented . Our server was prompt with water and took our orders. The Jasmine tea comes in a cute tea pot but be careful it's heavy and HOT! It took us a while before we could sip the tea. There was hip hop and Top 100 music playing that made us want to dance lol. Our food took about 10 minutes to arrive ... Everything was made perfectly and very hot ! I really enjoyed the wontons and the two sauces that come with them. If you like sweet and sour you will enjoy the wontons too. The veg spring rolls are skinny and extra crispy . Although the restaurant was closing soon we were not rushed to finish eating. We took our time and they cleaned up without making us feel guilty. I really like this place. Hopefully I can go earlier in the day to further explore the menu.

Located in my favorite part of Columbia (Merry weather District). This establishment has been a bookmark since the initial opening. According to some this establishment has a wonderful reputation and flavorful food. My question is what did I miss? Should I try it again? I was simply unimpressed. The food is mediocre at best. The waiter was extremely impatient and was annoyed with my son asking questions about the menu. Nice sized portions and apparently due to the restaurant size reservations is required for indoor seating. Simply put this restaurant left a lot to be desired. I ordered the following items: -Scallion bubble pancakes -jumbo shrimp with pepper and garlic -crab fried rice -Bok choy w tofu skin -crispy pork belly -Broccoli with white sauce Ambience 2/5 Food 3/5 Service 3/5 Location 5/5 Parking 5/5

Food was good. I grew up in New York and also in California. Had Chinese in China town in New York as well as San Francisco and Los Angeles. The food here does not really compare but I will say for this area it's good. I usually sit in the bar area and will say the service is great. As for the drinks it is best to have Nikki the bartender make your drinks if she is working. You might not be disappointed. It can get crowded so I would try and get there early before the rush crowd or you will have to wait to be seated. Thumbs up from this transplant.

5.25.24 Everything about my dining experience today was top notch and stellar. From the service provided by our servers Sean and Steve (comical and attentive), to our delicious entrees. The peking duck is by far the best I've ever had to date. IMO, it far exceeds Peking Gourmet Inn which is known for their duck. The duck today was flavorful and well-seasoned and the skin was extra crispy. They are also generous with the number of pancakes they offer. Normally at other restaurants you have to request more and there is a surcharge for extra. The pancakes here are thin so you can taste the duck more. Also another nice feature that I liked is that they separate the pancakes so that they don't stick together. Genius!! Hubby got the Combo Lo Mein and enjoyed it. He emphasized how big the portion is and asked who actually finishes it. I said that I bet there are patrons out there that can. I ordered the Purple Sweet Potato Sesame Balls for dessert. They came out piping hot. My husband is very particular about texture so I didn't think he would like it, but surprisingly he did. Steve was hilarious and I loved his commentaries. He made me laugh. He said that he would place my hubby's order about 7 minutes after mine so that they could be brought out around the same time since the duck may take time to prepare. My hubby made a comment about how I always order things that take long to prepare. Steve said something to the effect that I like fancy meals, which is true. I enjoy good food! Highly recommend Peter Chang. I hope you are fortunate enough to have Steve and Sean as your servers and that you try the duck. You can thank me later.

The staff here are AMAZING! They really make you feel like a regular. The food is so good you'll eat it until you're bursting. (Sweet & sour chicken w/ lo mein w/ spicy garlic sauce for the lo mein) It's in a nice area and a very clean restaurant. One complaint is that a few times the chopsticks have had broken metal ends that are filled with food goo.

Another amazing meal at Peter Chang! Everything was fresh and service was on point! Definitely worth the trip to the Merriweather District in Columbia!

Decided to finally try this place. It's always crowded so I figured lunchtime would be a good time to try it. It was pretty empty when I got there...maybe three or four customers. Lots of windows, so it's nice and bright and I can imagine it probably gets loud on weekends. In the warmer months, there is usually a pretty large crowd, especially around the bar area since it opens into the courtyard. I started my order with chrysanthemum tea and the crispy duck rolls. The duck rolls were very tasty. Next time I would probably get a sauce with a little more kick to it just to balance the flavor. The teapot was beautiful and the tea was tea. For lunch, I ordered the jumbo shrimp and scallops with pepper and garlic, which came in another beautiful pot. I was surprised it doesn't come with rice, but I ordered some to make the meal complete. Everything was yummy! I will definitely be back.

This place is absolutely beautiful! From the moment we walked in, the customer service stood out. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very attentive throughout our visit. The food was fresh and delicious, and the drinks were just as impressive. Our bartender, Nikki, was amazing--she really knows how to craft great cocktails! Everything we tried had a fresh, balanced flavor that we all enjoyed. To top it off, the manager came by to say goodbye and personally thanked us for coming. It was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel genuinely appreciated. Highly recommend this spot for great vibes, amazing service, and quality food and drinks. We'll definitely be back! I came for a work gathering and they were very accommodating to our big group.

I really enjoy this restaurant! I've been a few times now and the service is great and quick. The weekends and evenings are generally pretty busy. I enjoy going for happy hour during the week! If you like Dim sum I would visit on the weekends as it's only served from 11-3 on Saturday and Sunday. They offer family style dining and individual, it's a nice spot to take a slightly larger group or go on a date night!

I highly recommend Peter Chang for several standout dishes. Peking Duck - You have to try the Peking duck, but skip the weekdays. On weekends, it's fresh, hot, and super crispy. During the week, it can taste overcooked and feel like it's been sitting around since the weekend rush. Bubble Scallion Cake with Curry - This is a must-try appetizer if you like curry and crispy, donut-like textures. It's unique and addictive. Eggplant Fries - These are seasoned with a flavorful mala (numbing-spicy) seasoning that reminds me of Asian-style hot fries. So good. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu--most of the dishes are high quality and consistently well made. Just avoid coming on weekdays if you're planning to get items like the duck, which seem to suffer from being pre-made and less fresh and sitting around over the weekend. Peking duck is freshly made on weekends based on my experience. Service: The service is hit or miss. Most of the staff are slow, inattentive, and honestly make you question whether tipping is even deserved. The only consistently attentive server is an Asian male waiter--he's the one who checks on tables, refills water, and makes sure you're taken care of. The Latina staff who bring out food and water were helpful, but the rest of the team seems to disappear for long stretches. If you can, ask to sit in the section served by the Asian male waiter. Overall: This place is a hidden gem in Columbia and very clean for a Chinese restaurant. I've been going to hunan manor since the early 2000s but after the ownership changed and quality dipped, Peter Chang stepped in and I have a new favorite Chinese joint.

Honestly, my partner and I found ourself at Peter Chang after there was a long wait at a restaurant a few doors down. But... we're glad we ended up here! We were seated immediately and the server was very attentive, and they seemed to be catering to multiple larger groups the rest of the evening as well. The food was excellent. The star of the show for us was the hot and sour chili shrimp & pork wontons. The sauce was incredible, they were cooked perfectly, and had amazing flavor. We found ourselves using the scallion pancake to soak up the remainder of the sauce on the plate. We split two dishes - combo fried rice and the three pepper beef. Both were excellent. My only note is that the three pepper beef could have been a bit spicier (I wasn't really getting much of the Thai chili vibe that I thought would be there). Don't get me wrong, it still packed some heat. Also, the portions were huge. This is definitely a good spot to split a bunch of entrees across a group. I would love to come back and try some cocktails with dinner sometime soon!

Overall: Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had, excellent service, in a convenient location with single-stall gendered restrooms We went on Mother's Day with a reservation. It was packed with a huge line, but they sat us right away. We love that it's next to Color Burst Park to let our little one get some energy out before having them sit for a nice dinner. There are a free outdoor tables and an outdoor bar area that has a cute ambiance. They have beer, wine, and cocktails and I loved that they had a $5 mocktail menu. I can't stand when restaurants charge cocktail prices for drinks without alcohol. Their food menu was extensive with plenty of things that I wanted to try. The food highlights of our evening were the Scallion Bubble Pancake, the shrimp and scallops, the Peking duck, and the cumin stir fried lamb. The soup dumpling and beef chow fun were fine but nothing special. The dragon eggplant in spicy garlic sauce had beautiful presentation, but the way it was cut made it hard to eat and the sauce was way too sweet for my taste. The service was great. I think our servers name was Dan and he was very welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, quick, and attentive. We will definitely be back!

Pretty yummy Chinese in the posh Merriwether District where you fight for the parking lot for 30 minutes or park in the garage and then proceed to walk for 5 min haha. I guess it's good to stretch your legs and get some walking in after chowing down at Peter Chang's where you def need 2-3 appetizers (scallion pancake for sure!) and another 2-3 more entrees to share w your date. Customer service is decent here and very thorough if you have questions - that's a major key if you're trying a new place, so don't be afraid to ask for questions about the menu and if you need or want substitutes. The environment is very chill and cool, I loved the seating and being able to subtly people watch from the booths. It's my fav really! Four stars bc the portion to price ratio is a little janky for me also you have to pay for an extra portion of rice as they only serve one per 2-3 entrees (cmon now!) other than that the food is 5 stars, enjoy!

I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice, which was okay. The portion was decent. Once seated, the swiftness of service was pretty fast. We opted for outdoor seating, which was not the greatest idea considering that the outdoor temperature did not reach what was expected. The hostess was cordial. The waiter was okay. The outdoor ambiance was not bad, but we chose the wrong day for outdoor dining. However, there was lots going on in the square and surrounding area, so the people watching made for good entertainment and was a distraction from the temperature. I was not thrilled by the menu, so I opted for a familiar choice. I like the location, but I was expecting more. The overall experience was just okay for me.
