Very comfortable for lunch. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The shrimp cake was good and the flounder with mustard greens was delicious. The lettuce wraps (not pictured) were fine, but not as special as the other two. Because it depends on what you order, I could only give four stars. However, it's worth going and trying this wonderful flounder!

Since the grand new opening we had been here twice and liked the new restaurant. We had tried a range of dishes: we loved the tomato beef with rice crispy on the top and the spicy beef, though both come with rice crisp, they have totally different taste and are both nice.the rest of the dishes are average typical Chinese dishes: the Peking duck hit the average bar of the area, the dry pot vegetables and meat medley was ok, the tofu pot was nice, and the lamb belly was tasty. The fish was a bit overcooked and disappointing. Waitress was very friendly and attentive and no complain, Price is slightly high, three adults and four kids we finished seven dishes and three deserts which are two Moche balls per serving. The bill came with pre added 20% tip and came to $320.

On my first visit to Peter Chang Restaurant, I was impressed by their earnest, gracious, and personable customer service. I enjoyed the Crispy Pork and Shrimp Spring Roll appetizer I ordered, and the Peach Oolong Tea was perfect for the cold, rainy day. However, I was repelled by the Kong Pao Chicken with Peanuts; it was unpleasant to my taste. The mouthfeel was all fat, but as the server and chef described the recipe to me, I was convinced that it was the flour coating that caused my distaste, not the chicken itself. The coating somehow gave the chicken an off-putting fatty texture and taste. They voluntarily removed the dish from my check. I will return and be careful about what I order.

Service was amazing from the moment we stepped in to the moment we stepped out. Every member of the wait staff was friendly and accommodating, with several table touches from our server and the manager. Each dish was delicious. They made sure the spice and numbing levels were perfect to suit our tastes. The jasmine beer, yuzu beer, and green peppercorn beers were all amazing. This location has a great beer selection and really nice decor. Only downside is somewhat limited parking at times, but that wasn't an issue today. Would definitely come again 👍

The Peking Duck was excellent. The pancakes were so thin that they were almost transparent - great as an appetizer wrap but hard to separate. The crispy rice seafood dish was fun to eat. We’ll be back to try more dishes.

Based this experience, I can only give a 'reluctant' 4-stars *only* because the ingredients used were really fresh. Past Peter Chang visits at other locations seem like the entrees were created for tourists and this theme seems to have permeated to this location as well. It's been a mystery on what the Peter Chang created cuisine is meant to celebrate since the Chinese entrees carry marketed Sichuan or Chengdu flavors that are very muted, lackluster, and just brand-name expensive. What is carrying the 4-star is the use of very fresh ingredients which is an absolute must if a restaurant wants to survive in this super-affluent McLean neighborhood; otherwise, I would have assigned a 3-star rating. We ordered the Dry-spicy combo hot pot, Chengdu seafood with crispy rice, Dragon eggplang with garlic sauce, and Amish duck bone soup with pickled radish. What made dinner enjoyable? ..... the highly considerate staff. Again, good staff service would be a must in this affluent McLean neighborhood. Other than fresh ingredients and considerate service, I can pass on visiting Peter Chang moving forward. Why pass on Peter Chang for me? We ordered the most Sichuan/Chengu spicy entree and nothing was ma-la/chengdu/sichuan spicy at all (this was the biggest let down of the entire dinner). The eggplant was cloyingly, aggressively too sweet. The Amish duck soup was supremely salty. And the Chengdu seafood entree was only adequate. Now the plating is another awkward story. The plating for all dishes were not practical at all and the spoon utensil seems more for show than ladling any liquid at the bottom of the bowl or plate. The dry hot pot swiveled like a gryoscope whenever you are mixing ingredients to prevent burnt food at the bottom. The huge bowl for the Chengdu seafood had such a small base, it could tip at any moment. Come to think of it, the plating and dishware seem to be prioritized higher than the flavor of the food. On top of all this, the price for each entree is nose-bleed high for the lack of authenticity in the entree recipes. To add insult to injury, each bowl of white rice was billed separately and didn't come with ordered entrees.

Peter Chang’s restaurant always provides pretty good quality Chinese food. This location is relatively new. We like Brussels sprouts with tofu, Peking duck, green beans and fried rice. The service is just okay, but we will come back for the food. There’s a small parking lot behind the restaurant.

I had previously visited the original establishment in Richmond, so my expectations were high even before I walked in. While the food here wasn’t as great as in Richmond, it was definitely one of the best compared to other Peter Chang locations outside southern Virginia. The tea was refreshingly good, and the chongqing spicy chicken and bubble pancake were hands down the best. The DanDan noodles were okay; I have had better elsewhere. That being said, this place made me crave those foods so much that I visited more Peter Chang locations, and this one was the best among them all after the original. This made me realize that these locations are operated independently. The food at this location was the best among all, and it was very evident that they use high-quality ingredients. The service was amazing, and the ambiance was incredibly great. Recommended dish Bubble pancake Chongqing Chicken.

Yelp
I came on a pretty busy Saturday night without a reservation but I was seated pretty quickly. We ordered some hot tea, scallion bubble pancake, Peking duck, calamari, and bbq pork bao buns. Our waitress was really nice and kept checking to make sure everything was going well. At the end, she helped make sure we got all of our food packed to take home. She was also checking the tea pot to make sure it was filled although the place was very busy. This has now become my go-to date night spot. I was blown away by the quality and flavor of everything. The aromatic calamari isn't like the fried calamari at American restaurants, so don't come expecting that, but this was the BEST dish. I was blown away by how tender the squid was and the spicy but umami flavor was amazing. The scallion pancake was a tad oily but still really good. The bao bun is like your typical dim sum steamed bun but it was super moist and fresh. The Peking duck was well presented, easy to assemble, and had the right portion of each element. Definitely coming back again soon.

Annette L.

Yelp
Never not liked a meal from here. Deriving from parent company, Mama Chang and other Peter Chang's in the area, Peter Chang in McLean stands to be its own Chinese restaurant staple. They have dim sum pretty much every day (not the biggest selection but the ones you just need), their peking duck is really really really good (take it from someone who has been to Beijing and lived in Hong Kong), their mapo tofu is really great, kung pao chicken is different but good as well, and all their dishes are just less greasy Chinese food options. Compared to other ones in the chain, this is my family and my personal favorite one. We always come here for our Chinese food fix and the service is lovely as well (everyone is just super nice). Hidden away in the heart of McLean, definitely come check this place out!

Yelp
I love this place so much! There are very few places that you can find great Chinese cuisine in the DC metro area, and Peter Chang is one of them. It's good enough to be in NYC. If you go with a large group, they have the lazy Susan tables to spin around the food. They serve a duck spring roll that is to die for. One of their hidden treasures, the eggs and scallion fried rice, is just $8; and my kids are always amazed by the bubble pancakes. There are a few dishes that are delicious but you need a good size party because of how rich the plates are; one of these dishes is the pork belly, great for 5-8 people to try a small piece but too much for one person to eat it. Needing a vegetarian dish? Go for the dragon eggplant. The stir fried baby bok choy is also delish. Pescatarian? SEAFOOD VERMICELLI POT W. MUSHROOM PASTE is the dish for you. You will find a dish for everyone. I can't wait to visit this amazing gem in McLean soon.

Margaret H.

Yelp
We ordered a half of their Beijing duck. There was nothing of the duck leftover between two of us - not a shred of meat nor a single pancake. Their pancakes were super thin and soft - that is a distinguishing feature of their duck. The stir fried pea shoots were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of garlic, and perfectly seasoned. The Beef Chow Fan Noodles were also very good. We also got the Sesame Oil Tofu Skin Salad appetizer, which was also lightly seasoned and not too salty or oily. The interior seating is contemporary and very clean. The service was excellent. We came for lunch on a weekday and were seated immediately.

Emily C.

Yelp
One of Peter Chang's newer outposts in the DMV region. We came here after learning that reservations at Mama Chang were full. Food is quite good and up to standards, bordering on high end. Portions are reasonable but not generous. Not all the staff speaks Chinese, but they were very friendly and helpful when we requested hot water. If you come here with a big group, I think it would be helpful to have a round table with a lazy Susan in the middle so that everyone can access dishes, rather than push 2 rectangular tables together because it becomes a bit tedious to constantly pass the dishes around. However, this restaurant is overall really family friendly.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends for dinner. There are so many vegetarian options here, I don't think i've ever been to a Chinese restaurant with this many vegetarian options before. We got a few appetizers, the bubble pancake, tofu skin, and vegan dandan noodles. All were good but the noodles were definitely my favorite. For main meals, we got an eggplant dish and some fried rice. The fried rice wasn't anything too special but the eggplant sauce was so flavorful. There were also a few drink options which were reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is decently sized but still pretty cozy. The staff was super friendly and checked in on us pretty frequently and wasn't rushing us out the door when we finished, which was nice. Would definitely come here again as the menu is pretty huge.

Yelp
Went in for a quick Sunday lunch and it was excellent! We shared 3 dishes and were quite satisfied by all of the flavors and textures. Our go to at any Chinese restaurant is the string beans. These were nice and spicy and crisp. Szechuan peppercorns possibly added was a delicious surprise. We also ordered a dry pot combination dish which was loaded either many fresh vegetables and had lovely pungent flavors. Yummy. The service was fast and the ambiance was quiet which allowed for easy conversations. Excellent meal!

Kristy P.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious! Service was very attentive and smooth. Ambience was lovely. So glad we made a reservation because it was crowded on a Saturday night. Wish I lived closer to get take-out on a regular basis.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! We love the Chang chain, always a great meal. So happy they opened one in McLean! It was packed, and I'm sure it's always like that. Our server was amazing! Christine took her time with our group and recommended some favorites. We have a vegan in our group so she was very helpful with what she should order as well. Christine really took care of us! Okay so for food. I don't even know where to start. We had a little bit of everything! We started with the scallion pancake, make sure you dip it in the sauce! We got some veggies, the tofu skin salad (wayyy better than I expected !), the pork ribs (a little dry for me), chicken that had a nice kick , and my absolute favorite, the soup dumplings! I get the soup dumplings every time we go to the Chang chain. They are homemade and soo good! Be careful though, that broth inside is HOT, don't burn yourself. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here. Everything is so good! Can't wait to come back.

William L.

Yelp
Good service excellent different obese food great ribs Good veggies with brown sauce and chicken sweet and sour. Huge portions.

Yelp
We recommend making a reservation here. Pretty busy. Food: Wow, we order several dishes from the Peking duck, pork string beans, ginger brenzino, honey walnut shrimp, beef chowfun, and soup dumplings. Food comes out hot and ready, they were all seasoned incredibly well, not salty at all, meat were all tender, prawns were massive but perfectly sweet, and the highlight was the duck. Way better than Peking gourmet. Ambiance: The restaurant was clean and spotless, it makes you feel way better on what you're consuming. Service: They were so attentive to us and made sure we always had water, room for all of our food and even how they prepped our food to go was top notch. It was truly a great experience for us and the workers here are super kind. We will be returning!

Philip S.

Yelp
Online ordering is easy and the preparation time is very fast. But the quality of the dishes I ordered was unimpressive. The spring rolls were oily, and the rice and noodle dished had vey low vegetable content. the flavors were just ok. Expected more based on all the hype I'd heard.

Greg O.

Yelp
Always seems to be busy, and its no wonder why. The food here is simply good. Its located on the lower floor of a two story restaurant setup, and feels like an upscale Chinese restaurant. Service is always friendly, and honestly most of the patrons are too- my kids ended up playing a game with another tables kids while waiting for food. Evey dish I've had there has been great- the scallion pancakes are always in demand, and the different chicken and beef dishes always deliver on flavor. Also highly recommend the purple rice. Its always been a great meal for us.

Yelp
Ambiance: 10 Service: 10 Food: 10 I love Chinese food, but sometimes it can be quite oily or too saucy. Recently, I discovered Peter Chang in McLean, and it has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat. From the outside, the restaurant appears modest, but inside, it's much larger than expected with a bright and modern motif--a refreshing change from the typical dark hues of many Chinese restaurants. I consider this style of food as elevated Chinese cuisine, perfect for those who appreciate high-quality, delicious dishes. It's great for a date night or for taking out your entire family or a group of friends. If it's your first time, like it was for us, the extensive menu can be a bit overwhelming. Fortunately, the friendly staff are more than happy to make recommendations. After a long day of travel, I was craving something savory but not too oily or spicy, so I started with a cup of pork wonton soup. The broth was soothing to my upset stomach, and the pork wontons were delicious. I could have been happy just with my soup. However, since my husband was with me, we also ordered the sizzling prawns and scallops with chives. Although the dish didn't come out sizzling as its name suggests, it did not disappoint. The scallops and prawns were cooked to perfection, and the chives (or leeks) were a perfect combination with the seafood. We paired this dish with stir-fried baby bok choy, enhanced with garlic flavors and cooked just right. Many restaurants tend to overcook their veggies, but Peter Chang gets it just right. The food was so great that I decided to take a chance with my upset stomach and order something with a bit more spice: the (not so) sizzling chicken with mixed peppers and basil. Oh boy, was it spicy! The dish featured jalapeño and Thai red peppers, and I highly recommend eating it with rice. If you like spicy food, this dish is simply heavenly, offering a great mix of heat, savory, salty, and a splash of acid. We will definitely be coming back. I'm surprised this restaurant isn't ranked higher because if you enjoy good food and excellent service, you can't go wrong with Peter Chang.

Yelp
This location is better than the Arlington one. The food here is pretty good if you eat inside. But carry out I feel like it's not that much food for the price. The Mongolian chicken felt like they filled the entire container with onions, and it's $22. Also if you order take out there is no rice, u have to order it and pay for it. So with places like this, we make rice before hand because I'm not paying for rice. You should try Fahrenheit or Hong Kong palace. Cheaper food for better quantity

Larry M.

Yelp
We came here for lunch at 12:30 on a Sunday and the place was fairly empty. The place used to be House of Fortune, which was an older Chinese restaurant specializing in soup dumplings. They did a really good job redesigning the place. It was very clean and modern. The waiters we had were very attentive. Unfortunately the food was not up to par. The spicy beef tendon & tofu skin was flavorful but we got a tiny portion. The sweet and sour crispy branzino was over cooked and the sauce had no flavor and was too sweet. The dry mustard green braised pork with bun was overly salty and not nearly cooked long enough. The fat on the thinly sliced pork belly was not rendered out. Also they neglected to bring any rice out so we had to ask for it. When we got the check we saw that they charged $1 for each bowl of rice! What Chinese restaurant does this?!? For the prices we paid I was expecting much more from this place.

Yelp
Peter Chang McLean is the eponymous chef's 9th restaurant, and like the others, this newest location has its own unique menu (despite sharing a name with the Arlington and Rockville locations). If you aren't familiar with Peter Chang, this acclaimed former chef of the Chinese Embassy turned defector-with-a-cult-following has become a successful restaurateur, known for creative and intensely-flavored sichuan specialties such as numbing ma la flavors, dry-fried eggplant, and scallion bubble pancakes. But as he opens more restaurants, he's also built a reputation for spreading himself thin, and delivering inconsistent quality at very high prices. Eating at Peter Chang restaurants can be an expensive roll of the dice. This new McLean has another common Peter Chang problem: a cryptic menu that's hard to decipher without help. I feel sorry for the waiters, who will be asked dozens of times every shift what "Dragon Eggplant" is, and what's in "Green Peppercorn Flounder." As for the food, I was disappointed that this location doesn't have the "hot & numbing" hot pots or variety of fish dishes like the Arlington location, but it offers a ton of other Chang inventions to try. Vegetable lovers should be in heaven here. Dry-fried Green Beans are a guaranteed hit -- perfectly cooked and lively with ma la sichuan peppercorns and shallots. Dry-fried Shitake Mushrooms with Eggplant takes Chang's famously irresistible eggplant dish and adds rich shitakes for extra umami goodness. And thankfully, Tofu Skin Salad is a fantastic appetizer that survives from the other locations. It's authentic and creative dishes like these that make Peter Chang a standout. So if you just come here and order Sweet & Sour Chicken, it's your own fault. The chef tends to spend his time at the newest locations, so it pays to visit early, before consistency becomes a problem.

Yelp
Came here with a very large party. The staff got us seated very quickly and made sure to check up on us often. We ordered a lot of dishes and they all came out great. Specifically the favorites I had were the crispy rice seafood and spicy string beans.

Joann M.

Yelp
Popped in for a late lunch! They do take reservations and while we walked in that may not be true at other times. Shared parking with Tachibana... so in general a spot is hard to find but let's get to the food! While we looked over the menu I ordered cucumber salad and tea.... I adore cucumber salads... but this version is to me on the bland side... needed vinegar IMO and both hubby and I added salt! The ordered tea (they gave multiple options) never showed. Decided not to remind our waiter. I was pleased they were attentive and kept our water glasses full. We then ordered the pork pot stickers, green chili flounder, and dragon eggplant plus purple rice. The potstickers came out quickly and are paired with a spicy dipping sauce. Great flavor combo and one of the hits of our meal. The dragon eggplant came out next... in a sweet spicy sauce I found that while the presentation was beautiful and the dish tasty... it was hard to serve! The eggplant are spiraled cut which is what caused the serving difficulty! I'd have preferred a more traditional cut and toss. See update at bottom The green chili flounder was both a hit and a miss! It's served in broth with a soup ladle but no bowls or spoons offered???? Fixed that and we both really enjoyed the flavor. What was a major miss was the thick wide glass noodle that to me just didn't add to the dish plus were extremely difficult to pickup! If I ordered again I'd ask for no noodles. And two bowls with spoons! But the flavor of the dish was exceptional. See update at bottom Last observation is that rice isn't included. To me that's a fail at the prices per dish... a bowl should be offered to each person. They do have a purple rice option which the waiter pointed out was actually a mix of purple and white... I like that more robust texture but wish it was more purple than white in their mix Be prepared on the pricing so you're not surprised. At the time of this posting they didn't have any alcohol available. Hubby would have loved a glass of wine..,, Updating: we chatted with the manager... the dragon eggplant is served spiral cut down so it looks like a dragon... we suggested serving with a knife to make it a easy serving option.. the noodles on the flounder are traditional recipe... so while not my thing I get it!!!!

Yelp
This Peter Chang's is as good as any other - we stopped in for dinner and found a lively atmosphere, lots of people, but not much of a wait. The food came out quickly and the servers were very attentive. I got the Kong Pao Shrimp with Peanuts & Dough Sticks off the Spring Specials menu. Very tasty! Breaded and fried shrimp with lots of veggies and just a hint of Szechuan peppercorns to add some zesty sting. We also got a dish of eggplants and I stole a few bites of a half duck from across the table. All good and tasty! If you're in McLean and craving good Chinese food, stop by Peter Chang's!

Ellen C.

Yelp
Peter Chang is one of the go to spots my family orders from. We usually order a variety of different dishes. This time we ordered some spare ribs, shui zhu beef, chicken with bamboo shoots, and chicken with mushrooms. The food wasn't bad but all tasted a bit too thick and kind of similar to one another. My favorite was the mini spare ribs.

Anthony W.

Yelp
It as a holiday fiasco. They took way too many orders to support a Christmas Eve pickup. We had designated 5:30 and when we finally got our food, it was 7 PM. Given their inability to meter orders and manage this unmitigated disaster, I have to say the staff was amazing with all of the pressure on them. They easily and probably should have been a lot crabbier given the irritated customers standing around waiting for their Christmas Day meals now coming out up to 90 minutes after their supposed order ready time. So the food... first time there and the take out was fantastic. The fried items stayed crisp and it's clear their ingredient quality is high. The Peking Duck was among the best I've had stateside. And how the duck skin was still crispy a half hour later at home, I don't know what sort of magic they did but it worked. The duck was also properly prepared and drained of excess fat so the duck itself was exquisite. They probably deserve 5 stars but given that this is a chain and they've been through more than one holiday season as a company, there is simply no excuse for the order fiasco. I will likely upgrade on a future visit.

C C.

Yelp
This is a great Chinese restaurant that has authentic Chinese food. They have spicy and non/spicy dishes. Both taste equally impressive. I particularly like their spicy dishes because they are not too as greasy as other restaurants' spicy dishes. Service is friendly and great. The ambience is casual and warm. The best Peter Chang in this area.

Erin O.

Yelp
We came Christmas Eve and it was absolutely packed but service was quick and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Peking duck did NOT disappoint. The scallion bubble pancakes are fun and a must when you go to Peter Changs!

Vivian T.

Yelp
Food was decent as was the service and I would come again with friends but I have alternatives where I can find better versions of what we ate here. The peking duck was pretty good and gives my other options a run for their money but I do feel like maybe my usual place leaves the bones and extra meat so I feel like I'm getting more there for similar pricing. I would skip the walnut shrimp but the fried dumplings were intriguing. I wish there were more. The chow fun was pretty good. It's an easy spot to meet as a group given the space and there's even a small parking lot attached with some street parking. We got lucky and didn't have to wait long for a spot. The staff was very accommodating for a group reservation that also included a child. Overall, it was decent but maybe I had too high of expectations given the raving I often hear associated with the brand. It was my first time. I would be curious to try other dishes.

Howard F.

Yelp
Peter Chang's latest spot is open in McLean, and I highly recommend reservations, because the restaurant is really popular! It took a little while to get a table, simply because of the crush of people picking up takeout orders and a few large parties coming in. But service was pretty speedy and food did not take too long (except, oddly enough, our appetizer, the vegetable dumplings, which came out last). The seafood fried rice was good, the dry pot Mushroom and pork belly was too, but the standout dish was the dragon eggplant, which had a gorgeous presentation (see my photo), and rich flavor, with a healthy kick to it. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Kevin M.

Yelp
We ordered the Chongqing Dry Spicy Red Pepper Chicken, the Grandma Brasied Pork Belly with Tea Eggs and the Cold Dish Platter. This place didn't disappoint and the food was fantastic. If you love spicy, thus is your place. Service was extremely attentive and it was not just the waiter, but the other staff worked hard to meet out needs. My ater was never empty for long. Finally, compared to alot of other Chinese places in the Falls Chirch area (the area closest), the feeling of the room is open, modern and very comfortable. It is a hidden gem in McLean!

Tina C.

Yelp
Stopped here when another restaurant was closed. Everything was very tasty. Delicious jasmine tea. Loved their sesame ball dessert. Lots of menu options, friendly staff, and very clean. Already visited a second time and cannot wait to try their Peking Duck.

Adrian U.

Yelp
Located under a popular Japanese restaurant we frequent, Food was great! Clean and prompt. Food similar to Mama Chang.

Tom M.

Yelp
This is one of a few PC family restaurants in the area. I like to think of this Chinese food as fresher, higher quality, more vegetables and more creative than the typical Chinese restaurant. The food is very good and is highly recommended. Located in an old, yes old building but the inside is refreshed and clean and comfortable than the previous dingy looking Chinese restaurant previously located here I have only done take out but have returned again and again and maybe, yes....again and again . It's worthy. Pad Thai, kung pao, sesame beef and many other yummy dishes are recommended. I think the salt is a bit much but otherwise flavors are great. Parking is a bit of a challenge and be sure NOT to park in adjoining lot- you will get towed (read the signs!!).

Sarah BUnn ..

Yelp
Great news! You don't have to drive to Arlington to eat at Peter Chang's anymore! They have opened up a new location where House of Fortune used to be. We started with the spicy shrimp dumplings which were excellent. Very spicy. We also had the duck egg rolls which my husband enjoyed. They are known for their duck so I thought we should order these. My husband ordered creamy walnut chicken which he thought was okay, but will probably order something different next time. I order the Kung pao chicken as that is my favorite Chinese dish. It tasted more fresh and had more vegetables than what you would get at a chain restaurant. The chicken is dark meat. The service was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and nicely appointed. We also enjoyed the fact that my husband and I could hear each other talk. I am so glad that we have a locally owned Chinese restaurant in McLean!

Angela C.

Yelp
We stopped by here on the way home, and the food was amazing!! It is a little salty but it is closer to authentic Chinese food. We will definitely be back. The service was wonderful, the staff was so nice and kept my toddler entertained. We loved the ambience too, it was very clean with a modern Chinese look and feel. This will probably be our new go-to Chinese restaurant!

Zavash S.

Yelp
Food was delicious, fresh and tasty. Price was reasonable, a little hard to find a free spot to park the car.

Tay E.

Yelp
This is probably the 10th Peter Chang location I ever been to w the orig one I had frequented in Richmond about 100 times as it was our fav yrs ago. The dry fried eggplant and bamboo dish (both very similar seasonings) were Fanta and signature dish as well other locations. It's suppose to be spicy but dialed down for the general public so it's a tad bit spicier than Tobasco sauce which is fairly mild in my book. Service was great too. A super tray was that they had xlb, aka soup dumplings. Fantastic and ran a bit larger than normal. And served with black vinegar and slivers of ginger as they do at the Michelin star Ding Tai Fung--skin is fairly thin and seems to be handmade and tasted great! We also ordered the full duck (they have an option for a half duck if only a few dining) as there were 4 of us--very crispy and tasty. Clearly rendered for some time as it had that puff from the meat to skin. Pancakes were homemade as at Peking Gourmet Inn. Another fav. The scallop and shrimp w asparagus was yummy and mild to balance the other flavors. I took that from several other helpers and they were spot on. But then the other classic dishes all were fair to middling--the highly recommended wagyu with kung pao. Tiny morsels of wagyu swimming in an amateur sweet sauce w soggy overcooked veggies. Strange that a chef that made the other dishes allowed for this disaster. And to add insult to injury, it was nearly double the price of the other dishes. So all in all, I think sticking to the classic Szechuan dishes may be the way to go next time and also w the duck. Side note: Ambience was weirdly like Mama Changs in Fairfax, which is a different Chang enterprise. Overall serene and nice. Totally not crowded on the Sun brunch time we were here.

Yelp
Bustling new Chinese restaurant that just came to McLean. I came with a group of four and I enjoyed everything that we tried. My favorite had to be the half peking duck, which was served with green onions, cucumbers, wraps, and a hoisin sauce. The fried rice here was lovely as well. The plate of snow pea tips was heaping and so delicious. We ordered quite a bit of food and I left feeling full and satisfied. The day I came, it was very busy and we were warned that the food might take longer, but it still came out very quickly! Felt like I hardly had to wait.

Yelp
Round up to four stars! Sizzling Shrimp Dumpling, Cucumber Salad, Kung Pao Chicken are all decent & good, but a tad sweeter, will repeat & two Thumbs up!

Yelp
Delicious original menu, consistently good quality every time. We've eaten here on location several times and takeout regularly

Yelp
Thank you Peter Chang and co for bringing good ethnic food to McLean. This town really needed you and your food is great and delicious and you have a nice restaurant too.

Yelp
Top-class American Chinese. Nearly all other places in the category had been either disappointing or cheap-tasting with no surprise. Not necessarily extremely authentic but it was obvious a priori. They had enough cooks and staff; the cooking was speedy as Chinese cooking should be, and service around the table was pleasant unlike most very authentic Chinese.

Yelp
A spectacular addition to McLean. Nice open space, great vibe and very spicy but flavorful food. Different menu than Arlington. Recommend the dry fried eggplant, sizzling chicken with mixed peppers, dry fried flounder.

Yelp
Food was very expensive but tasty. It's pretty crowded. I think the Arlington Peter Chang is better with more choices.

Yelp
Food was excellent & very flavorful. Service was good and food came out fast. The parking lot definitely isn't big enough & it took forever to find a spot.

Yelp
Great service, high quality food, very reasonable prices for the quality. Unique dishes you can't make yourself. Neighborhood gem.

Yelp
My family went here for my birthday dinner and here's how it went. The waiter was incredibly receptive and was very helpful with our food choices but the food came out at a breakneck speed so we didn't get a chance to eat everything in the right order. That being said mostly everything here was delicious. Panfried Noodles or their equivalent thereof was fantastic, a good mix of noodles and seafood. The mapo tofu was the perfect amount of spicy and paired well with the rice. The tingling sensation lasted long afterwards and was clearly made with the bean paste instead of food coloring because there were fun little fermented beans in the dish as well. The sweet and sour fried branzino was the stuff of gods. The knife work was incredible and the fish was fried perfectly. The bubble pancake was the first to dissapoint. The curry sauce was uninteresting and the pancake was more oil than scallions. The pork belly on olive greens was another interesting and slightly dissapointing item. The olive greens was a strong flavor and I wasn't particularly interested in it and the pork belly was cooked well but could have used some texture and color other than just "soft." The wagyu kung pao was fantastic but a bit small. It dissapeared instantly. All the dumplings were quite good but the duck ones in my opinion were the best. We were informed that the soup dumplings were not in fact soup dumplings and the menu was a mistranslation or just wrong. The duck was well made but I wish the skin was a bit crispier. All in all a good experience and if you know what to get I would highly reccomend coming back. The prices are absurd but some things I would pay that money for (ie the fish and the duck dumplings).

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, try others. This is for American customers only restaurants

Yelp
Good Chinese is hard to come by these days. Some dishes are a miss, but overall it's great to have a decent Chinese restaurant in the area.

Yelp
An attractive restaurant with an interesting menu of traditional and non traditional Chineses dishes. Have dined here several times ; appreciated the attentive and timely service and thoroughly enjoyed everything we have ordered.

Yelp
DO NOT order takeout from this restaurant. I have had two or three good meals in the restaurant, but it seems that they pre-package takeout meals and microwave them as needed. I picked up the meal as soon as it was ready and drove it 3 minutes to my house. But our Sesame Beef, which should be crispy, was limp and soggy. In contrast, I picked up Sesame beef from an Arlington restaurant and drove it 20 minutes to my house and it was still very crispy. The Beef Chow Fun was thick and gluey, like it had been sitting for a long time. The vegetables had completely lost their individual taste and character. The Crispy Sweet Corn Pancake was a soggy mess and incredibly sweet, even for a dessert.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. The iron pot rice with chicken sausage was excellent. The rice was cooked perfectly and not overpowered by soy sauce. What's nice is the menu offers more hard core Chinese dishes in a way that many in the US could appreciate. The flounder in numbing sauce is an example. This is not a dish you'll see on most Chinese menus in suburbia US. It is a good choice and had interesting flavors without being too odd. The steamed bronzino is another example of a good balance of flavors and not masking the taste of the fish. The restaurant is nicely decorated and provided a good environment for a meal with friends.
