The food was below average. There is no sense of customer service orientation. The lady who took orders was extremely confused. Any question we dun have. Portion is big on some dishes. Coffee is really bad. They have only normal milk. The expectation of tips is crazy in USA as, they do not have customer service in a proper way but, still expect a tip. Do ur job properly then ask for tips. The owner was friendly though.

Peter’s Cafe in Millbrae, CA, is a must-visit! The food is top-notch with generous portions and great prices. The staff are super attentive and friendly, giving it that classic diner feel. It’s like getting a home-cooked breakfast every time. If you're in town, this place is a no-brainer. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in San Francisco. Highly recommend checking it out!

Google
Breakfast is excellent. If you like spam, try the spam omelet w/ gravy. Loved the atmosphere, it has the old school diner feel.

Google
Lovely diner near the airport. Was an easy walk from my hotel and wasn’t busy in the morning hours. Food was great and service was even better! Would recommend just for a good diner feel and fresh hot breakfast.

Google
Classic American breakfast diner type. Ambience was great, food was delicious!! Especially liked the classic pancakes which had really great mouthfeel and the generous serving of hash browns. We also ordered a German baby pancake, very much worth the wait!! Also enjoyed the Loco Moco, sauce was very flavorful. The couple who owned the place was very hands-on and answered all our questions about the menu items happily. Service excellent!

Google
Love this place! Humungous 10oz NY strip and eggs, served with pancakes and potatoes. Classic American diner, friendly staff. I’ll be back 😊

Came here for coffee with my dad. Love the decoration it has a very cool vintage vibe with model airplanes and mini models of classic car. If you’re looking for an old style American diner experience, don’t miss out on Peter’s!

Yelp
My mother has passed by this place for forty years and decided it was finally time to try it out, considering it's been standing all these years. We were greeted and given the choice to sit wherever with our 7 people party. We ordered the farmhouse omelette (10/10), eggs Benedict (9/10), loco moco (7/10), biscuits and gravy (8.5/10), apple German baby (7/10), vegetarian omelette with ham (10/10). We highly recommend the omelettes as they made my Chinese grandmother say "wow, it's so delicious," for someone who has never said that about anything other than Chinese food. I also don't like eggs but the omelette was delicious. The portions are huge and many items come with multiple sides such as toast, potatoes and eggs, so it's definitely worth the price. The service was great as well, very attentive and quick on a Sunday lunch at 1 pm. Definitely a place to visit for breakfast!

Yelp
You ever wonder WHY? As in "WHY" you didn't come here sooner? For the love of all that is holy, I've lived 500 feet from this joint for a year and a half now and never been in. GAH! Well, it didn't disappoint! Old school diner with a very "locals" appeal serving up typical Americana fair. Breakfast for me, and that means comfort food. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns and toast - straight up! It was superb. Friendly staff and acceptable prices. GO HERE!

Yelp
It's a family owned business and they are good to regulars. We tested them a little as he wanted a large table for the four of us. They didn't like it and said so but since they weren't busy they didn't move us. Then my friends arrived and they've been coming here for years so instant forgiveness. The food is diner fare. Nothing special and the place is slightly worn. But the people are nice once they get to know you. So while not a special experience, I do like them for recognizing regulars and being nice to them. Parking in shared lot. Fish and chips on the daily specials. Small portion of fish with a lot of fries. Club sandwich good serving size as was the Peter's special cheesesteak and the sandwich she ate. While I wouldn't come here for the food, for a neighborhood feel it is special.

Yelp
The German baby Dutch pancake WAS the best here! Both my husband and I loved it. It was worth the 30 min wait and price.

Yelp
Old school diner located on the corner of El Camino Real, has its own parking lot which is a plus. Service was good, our waitress was attentive. Unfortunately the food was just ok. Loco Moco was bland, patty was also not seasoned well and dry. The portion was generous and comes with pancake or toast. Pancake was the best part of the meal, very fluffy and again generous portion for a side. Eggs Benedict and hashbrown was ok. The muffin was unfortunately soggy, wish it had been toasted more.

Yelp
Friendly attentive service Diner food was good. Loco moco was great. The pancakes were thoroughly consumed. & my little hot water pot never ran dry. Price for portions was great Plenty of parking Thank you for a great experience.

Yelp
Husband missed his flight so we had a few hours to kill until it was time for his other flight. We searched for a brunch place and this place came up. All the positive reviews are spot on! It is perfect for a brunch place near the airport. The servings are pretty generous. The menu is pretty overwhelming as there are a LOT of choices! I recommend the Chefs special. The kids platters are also pretty decent, my kids LOVED the pancakes! Ambiance is pretty neat, lots of trinkets and decor. Service was a little slow, hence the .5 star taken away but they did seem quite busy. Highly recommend if you are in need of a quick breakfast or lunch before your flight!!!

Yelp
Love a proper old school diner and was delighted that this spot was near my hotel so I walked over for a late lunch. Since I was dining alone, I sat at the counter. I ordered an iced tea and the vegetarian sandwich and added Swiss with fries on wheat toast. The tea was fine and the sandwich was delicious and big. I brought left overs back to my hotel to eat later. Staff was efficient and friendly. There's dedicated parking and an actual pay phone in the lobby!

David S.

Yelp
Good breakfasts at a good price. Friendly staff. The decor is showing its age, but that's part of the charm.

Yelp
Big time and long time staple for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Food and staff very good and friendly.

Yelp
Do you need new seats & tables, modern updating? No you don't because you're a neighborhood dinner that's been here a very long time' they had regulars coming and going saying hi to each other. The vibe was family owned new and old immigrants working here. The menu was varied with old favorites like liver and onions! I know you either love liver or hate it, l love it'. Today's special teriyaki pork chops and eggs or liver onions eggs, hard choice, Liver and onions for me just because I haven't had to in a long time! Cooked perfect, eggs fluffy, home fries lightly crispy not bad at all! Near the San Francisco airport, actually I'm waiting for my clients to land' if five stars is the best of the best? l gave this place a 4 stars for effort great breakfast, good service, Happy to Support,

Yelp
Great food but gps is misleading. Location is the next street corner. Great service n good family friendly

Yelp
It's been over 10 years since I last ate here with my family. Nothing has changed (and that is a good thing... well maybe the prices). It is a classic diner that brings you straight back to the 60's. I really love the classic diner ambiance. Today my husband and I share a mushroom and cheese omelette and a veggie omelette with sourdough toast and a half stack of banana walnut pancakes....it was great! Service was friendly and very welcoming. I hope this place will be here another 60 years!

Yelp
Pretty decent, but inconsistent. We like there's a dedicated parking lot, and it's a good location right at the corner of El Camino and Millbrae Ave. (old Lyon's restaurant ages ago). Service was average. Food, again, was inconsistent - eggs were cooked really great, but the pancakes were overcooked and the hash browns had no flavor. Throw at least a small cube of butter, or flatten it more for a better even crisp. Little touches would go a long way. Good menu. Decor definitely needs upgrades; basically a full remodel.

Yelp
OH MY GOD!!!! I forgot how good sausage gravy and biscuits could be!!! Soooo grateful the waitress encouraged me to order it as an appetizer while waiting for my Dutch Baby Apple Pancake. I haven't had biscuits and gravy this good in many years. The biscuit was soooo nice fluffy, soft, and moist just as a biscuit should be, pure perfection! Don't get me started on the gravy though!!!! It's made in house and the sausage is soooo perfectly seasoned and the meat to sauce ratio is on point. It was just the ideal comfort food nice hot dish. Definitely will be back to try their hot link sausage and gravy with biscuits!!! The restaurant itself is a very classic old time American diner vibe. However though thanks to the exceptional friendly kind staff it gives a very nice homey feel. I can definitely see why it has a lot of old timer local regulars here. Excited to come back and try more of the menu!

Yelp
It's been a while since my last visit and it was disappointing. The prices have increased, the quality of the food has gone down and the service needs improvement. Today's visit started off having to wait longer than usual to just place our order. After the drink server had to tell the waitress that we had been waiting, did she make her way to our table. The restaurant was only half full, so it wasn't super busy. Once our order was taken, it took about another 20 minutes. My wife and I ordered ground beef and eggs. It was a basic hamburger patty that was uncooked in the center, raw and bloody. Another waitress returned the dishes and returned about 15 minutes with a new patty on the plate but now the eggs were cold. Tempted to just leave we ate it and left with no tip. I try to help local small businesses but when things like this happen it makes it hard to return. This place is a roll of a dice.

Yelp
Peter's Cafe is a great spot for classic diner breakfast or lunch options. My personal favorite for breakfast are the blueberry pancakes. Excellent! Service has always been good when we visit.

Yelp
The food is so delicious here. I have been eating here for almost 20 yrs. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is amazing. Bring your friends and family for breakfast you will enjoy.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST pancakes on the Peninsula, e v e r y t i m e. IMO. Sorry IHOP, MPH, and Stacks and the rest of them. Plus the menu is great, extensive with daily specials as well. The staff is always friendly, a true dated diner. I love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Went here yesterday for breakfast! Portions are really great! Loved the crunch and sweetness flavors of the crepe! The pancakes were fluffy and soft! Service is really wonderful! When arriving to the restaurant the parking lot was packed. Walking into the restaurant and seeing everyone smiling as they laugh or eat their food! The servers are very welcoming. Love the interior as well and the design. Really cozy and clean!

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and just walking in makes me feel at home. The decor is a little dated, but that is part of the charm. I almost exclusively come here for breakfast or lunch and they do breakfast and lunch very well. I often go to other restaurants with my foodie friends, but I feel Peters has the right combination of attentive and friendly wait staff serving delicious traditional food. Also, many of their dishes have a yeah Hawaiian influence that I appreciate. As more and more of my favorite restaurants close for various reasons I hope Peter's hangs in there as one of the last of a dying breed.

Yelp
Great place classic diner look! Ordered the country fried steak and pancakes with hash brown and over easy eggs. The country fried steak was great the gravy on top was perfect. The eggs was runny. And the pancakes were fluffy! Martha was my waiter and she was amazing! Great service and checked in to make sure everything was good! They have a medium size parking lot so plenty of parking.

Yelp
I came here with my friends on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We wanted somewhere that didn't have a wait time and we got just that. We were seated promptly upon arrival. The server was eager and rushing us to order, which makes sense since I'm sure they wanted to keep the flow of customers moving. The customer service was pretty good and food came out quickly. The portions were bigger than expected and filling. The food was okay. Loco moco was very peppery with a lot of scallions and salty gravy, but the eggs were done well. The Peter's Special Cheese Steak sandwich is not what my friend expected. She was hoping for something like a Philly cheesesteak and it was just onions and cheese with meat. The blueberry pancake was overhyped. All the other reviews had me excited for it, but it was kind of a letdown. It was too doughy. There wasn't any fluffiness. I couldn't finish the order. The hash browns and scrambled eggs were the best parts. Perfectly seasoned hash browns that were golden brown. The scrambled eggs were cooked just right. Overall, we were grateful for the speed of the service and may come back again to try other things.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast with the family after landing at SFO. I am a sucker for mom and pop cafes. The interior was old school and had a charm to it. Staff were very welcoming upon entering. Food was simply mediocre. Potatoes were delicious. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the eggs Benedict. My husband's country fried steak had a good taste, but wasn't the best. Everyone has different opinions, so don't let this review deter you from trying it yourself!

Tami A.

Yelp
Love Peter's Cafe...always good comfort food. My favorite s are the burgers...always cooked the way you want and the fries are really good! Staff is friendly and helpful. The place could use a little sprucing up, but actually adds to the charm of the place...old school diner feel!!

Yelp
I've been going here for years. I would always go here for breakfast and dinner. I would pick up dinner here and I was too tired to cook after work. I loved the lasagna and prime rib. Now after covid they are only open for brunch which I'm kind of sad about but I totally understand. I came here for teriyaki steak and eggs with a side of corn beef hash and rice. I can't wait to come back and get my other favorites chicken fried steak and belgian waffle

William G.

Yelp
I've been having breakfast at Peter's Café for more than 10 years. Service is always good. Food is always good. Portions are substantial. They have an extensive menu and a mind case I can order a hamburger for breakfast highly recommend as a place to go for breakfast or lunch. They are not open for dinner.

Yelp
Peter's has survived about two decades of a proposed demolition, so eat here while you still can. There have been a few proposals to redevelop this block, and for whatever reason, nothing has happened. Fortunately, Peter's has stuck it out, providing traditional diner food at a reasonable price. Everything on the menu is good, and they try to keep the prices down. It's your typical old-school diner fare, but the service is friendly even though it can be reasonably busy here. There's free parking, but if you're a BART or Caltrain commuter, it's just outside the station's west entrance. The pancakes are delicious. One of my favs is the cold veggie sandwich. The chili is excellent too. They have beer and wine.

Yelp
Old school diner with a bit of a Hawaiian flair. We loved the retro interior and the fact that were saw loco moco on the menu! So the reason we came across this place was because we had 30 mins to kill while waiting for my car's smog test across the street. It was certainly a very cozy spot to hang out early friday morning. We were greeted and seated right away. The host was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and there were some tropical flowers on the wall. Besides the loco moco we got turkey benedicts. The hollandaise was tasty and the turkey was tender. Hate when turkey is dry but this was just right. The hollandaise was a little on the chunkier side which is not my fav, but the flavor was spot on. The loco moco was really good!!! And loved that it had fresh scallion. We were ask how we'd like the meat cook and we chose medium. Very good and would come back here for it again :)

Yelp
Oh yes!!! Staying in a hotel 1 kilometer from here. Offered a microwave sandwich starbucks style. So I walked to Peters. Real food, carafe of coffee. Waitress steering a couple of Muslims away from the bacon and working to accommodate their needs. Happy customers, did i say real food...and plenty of it. I have stepped back to time before customer service meant putting a sandwich in a bag. Come here...you won't regret it.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great breakfast spot! I haven't been to this restaurant in a LONG time but recently had a family get together there. I can't believe I don't eat breakfast here more often! Their bacon and eggs where amazing! The bacon was prepared just how I like it! Not greasy in the slightest. The hashbrowns where very well seasoned! My brother ordered the German Baby. That thing was MASSIVE! However it took like an hour to make, I appreciated that the server let us know this before it was placed. That wasn't my kind of dish but if you are into that sort of thing and have the time, definitely give it a try! I mean there isn't much more to say about Peter's! Great service, great food and great classic diner atmosphere! I'll be coming here more often!

Marla L.

Yelp
Great breakfast and lunch, excellent location, plenty of parking, wonderful owners and wait staff. Love their waffles, love that they leave the pot of coffee at my table, love looking out the windows, and love that they accommodate their customers. I wanted a fried egg sandwich which wasn't on the menu, but they made it for me anyway and it was marvelous. I was so happy. and you will be too when you finish your excellent meal for a super price.

Yelp
Wow! I was traveling tired of all the fast food. Found Peter's cafe and stopped by for breakfast. I got the "Loco Moco" and it was definitely different and tasty. Steak & eggs over rice topped with gravy. Also 2 pancakes that were above average too. I arrived at 7:00 just when they opened and sat at the counter- the waitress was so pleasant and the atmosphere felt very easy and homey. I live on the east coast but will definitely be back when I am anywhere near Peter's cafe!

Donald Kwong ..

Yelp
Great place for a quick meal. The staff is friendly and the food is good and came quickly. I prefer to support small businesses and the owner has been running this place for 30 years. Bring your family and kids.
google avatar

Yelp
Also recommended to come here by my close friend that lives in the bay so wee had our last breakfast here. Plus, they're really close to SFO so, if you're looking for a hardy filling breakfast, give them a try. We were seated immediately and we kinda both knew what we wanted. Hubby went with the veggie omelet and I went with the biscuits and gravy. We both loved our food and the gravy was delish, like my grandma used to make. Peters Cafe is straight to the point and if that is what you want, then give them a try. I also noticed a full bar so if you want a bloody mary, they got you.

Yelp
If staying near the airport, and you have an appetite, this is the place to go. Hamburgers are very hearty and delicious. The pancakes are thick and fluffy, and coffee is strong. Did not have time to try out other menu items, but I will be back if I'm in the area again! Also, this establishment has a retro diner vibe to it.

Norma K.

Yelp
Great home style atmosphere ! Their breakfast is very delicious especially the chicken fry steak and eggs with pancakes! One of last few mom and pop breakfast spots in this area!! Number 1 place for us !! Peter and his beautiful wife always there. Great customer following all of these years!

Darlene P.

Yelp
Stopped by for Pi Day to check their pie situation. They had baked fresh pies that morning. I got the apple and my friend got the blueberry. She licked her plate and I ate all of mine and I don't even like crust. We made an excellent choice with Peter's. The decor is quirky and fun. The service is fast and friendly. I wanted to go back the very next day.

Fabiola H.

Yelp
We stopped by the Milbrae train station and found out this place was full of local people - We gave it a try, and it was worth it. Starting with the customer service, all of them were gentle. The food was delicious - great coffee and and a yummy strawberry jelly is a must-have.

Yelp
Really good old school diner vibe. Huge hearty breakfasts. Big selection. Nice staff. It's like a time zone. Will come back to try more options.

Jeanette D.

Yelp
This place is awesome I've been coming here since I was a child. Food and service is great! The only thing that suck now is the hours they operate now.

rene r.

Yelp
We go there for breakfast, and they are quite good. Staff is always friendly. Expect for two people to spend about $50.
google avatar

Sandra V.

Yelp
I wish I could give a negative zero stars. My husband and I left before our order arrived. While sitting on the booth waiting for our food I saw a cockroach crawling behind my husband's head on the wall. I flagged down the staff but she was too stupid to look and was pretended not to know what I was saying. The booth behind me pointed to yet another cockroach on the same wall in the booth. By this time other staff arrived and proceeded to kill the cockroach with what they had in hand (someone's bill and cash). As the woman proceeded to kill the cockroach, two more cockroaches emerged from within the booth where my husband was sitting. Naturally both my husband and I jumped out the booth. NEVER once did the staff apologize. Instead they asked if we wanted to switch seats. SERIOUSLY?! We said BYE but not before we shook off our jackets. Health officials need to inspect this place.

Yelp
This is one of my go to spots since the early 2000s. I usually order the Loco Moco with a side order of spam. The quality has not changed and will continue to enjoy Peter's Cafe and have now introduced this place to my kids and they love it here as well.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years for breakfast. Always great food, service and ambiance.

Yelp
Very down to earth, customer friendly resturant. Wendy took care of us and she is kind, compassionate and awesome with her smiling service. Staff is super efficient and food was delectable. We loved all the orders and the portions were sufficient. Easy parking.
