The 38 Best Restaurants in Baltimore | Eater DC

"The quaint and quirky Peter’s Inn has had many lives. More than 30 years ago, it was a rowdy biker bar, but Bud and Karin Tiffany have turned it into one of the city’s go-to dining destinations. People flock to the row home restaurant for martini service, incredible garlic bread, an irresistible one-bite scallop dish, signature steak entrees, and a famed chocolate pot du creme. In 2017, a fire closed the restaurant for a little while, but in typical Peter’s fashion, it didn’t keep them down for long. The restaurant is back with a new shiny tin ceiling and the same stellar dishes coming out of the kitchen." - Jess Mayhugh

Went to Peter’s Inn for Date Night and it did not disappoint! The Martini service was excellent, as was everything we ordered. Be sure to try (if available, the menu changes frequently & is handwritten, a charming departure from QR codes) the Burrata with Beet Gnocchi, any item that includes their Braised short rib & the vanilla gelato with olive oil and fennel!

Google
shrimp tagliatelle & burrata were sooo good, first time here and will def be back!! service was also great.

The execution is flawless. Every. Dish. Equally excellent service. Every. Staff member. Local chef owners work there. Every. Night. No pretense. Just mastery. House salad + Garlic bread+ Steak + Chocolate Pot de crème = Dinner Nirvana

We were in town for a wedding and booked dinner here. We only had appetizers but everything we had was phenomenal! The espresso martinis were great, and our waiter was wonderful! He answered all our questions, and when he didn’t know the answer he asked the chef/owner himself. Would recommend to anyone visiting Baltimore!

I went to Peter's Inn with my coworkers and it's a night I truly won't forget. From the outside, the restaurant might look like a dive bar. You wouldn't know this restaurant offers a fine dining experience. The ambiance made me feel like I was in one of those quaint, personal, intimate NYC restaurants. Soft lighting, few tables, very moody. I loved every second of the vibe. We ordered tons of food. Every appetizer (oysters, shrimp cocktail, pâté, caviar), salad (super simple and delish) and garlic bread (cheesy, herby, no clue what was on it but it was absolutely incredible and I would eat an entire loaf), espresso martinis, Palomas, Negronis, etc. The entrees change week to week, so don't get to attached to any one thing (follow the Facebook page to get the menu!). It's obvious that they use the freshest ingredients and make every selection with careful consideration. The steak is one of the few items that's always available, and it was simply incredible, seared to perfection, juicy, just delicious. I had the beef short rib in croutes which was unbelievable. Overall, it's a spot that you must experience. It's perfect for date night, a gathering with friends or a solo night eating at the bar. I can't wait to go back! I would have taken more pics but we dove into everything too quickly!

Looks like any other Baltimore restaurant row house until you’re invited in. There’s a magical fairy-like vibe happening with soft lighting and funky furnishings. We were seated at the bar in the company of pristine bowls and jars filled with freshly picked herbs and fruit. Made me feel like we were in for a deliciously different dining experience and we were. Enjoyed the refreshing gazpacho and seared foie gras. And do save room for their ice cream topped with fresh fruit and gourmet treats. Will be my first order next time! This was more like a dining event than just a meal so get your senses ready. Oh, and be pocket ready too.

Google
The food was delicious, but the portions were small. As a first-time customer, I found the waitstaff's lack of communication and patience quite disappointing. They seemed to impose their recommendations on us. Additionally, the atmosphere felt a bit cramped. However, I must give credit where it's due: their Belgian chocolate pots for dessert are a must-try. Overall, I don’t think I would return to this restaurant.

I had dinner here yesterday and it was a wonderful experience. The NY Strip was supper yummy, tender & juicy. I loved the quaint neighborhood feel. Although I dined alone I really enjoyed myself. It’s now on my list of cool spots to take family, friends & out of town guests.

Yelp
The most accurate word to describe our experience here is slow. We were slow to be seated for our reservation and slow to pretty much have anything else completed for us this evening. The bar program had the potential to be good, had we'd been checked on more and been asked if we'd like more drinks. There were a total of 3 cocktails delivered to our table...the potential could have been about double that. A very solid beef carpaccio was delivered. Nice crostini and I loved the arugula salad as an accoutrement. Then for ages...nothing. One short rib en croute was then delivered and the person had enough time to eat 3/4ths of it before the last two entrees were then delivered. The mussels in green coconut curry broth with fresh baguette was actually good...but worth them going foraging in the harbor for them good? Questionable...Bouchon's moule frites in Napa and Vegas are far superior. The surf & turf...scallops and short rib were so small, it was served on a salad plate. Now if it had been phenomenal, it would have been excused but it really wasn't. The team was kind and apologetic, however it was not the experience we were hoping for. I grabbed a chocolate pôt de crème to go and once you get past the curdled bit, it was a rich and silky dark chocolate pudding.

Yelp
Went here for the first time with my husband for Valentine's Day which fell on a Wednesday this year. They are normally not open on Wednesdays so I was pleasantly surprised that they were open for the holiday, as I'd been wanting to try them out. Reservations are only through email- no restaurant land line so you can't even call if you wanted to. This is fine as long as you make reservations ahead of time. I had trouble with the email link on the website and had to text a friend that frequents this establishment for the email address. The place was full so it's clear they have a loyal local following and have no problems with this method. Kind of gave a secret speakeasy vibe. Food was a 4/5. We ordered the house salad and garlic bread for appetizer. Both were delicious and came quickly. We had to wait a substantial amount of time for our steak entrees to come out and they were both, unfortunately, overcooked. The mashed potatoes and veggies that came with it were just okay, nothing special. I was excited about the steak because the reviews hyped it up, but for $50 I was hoping for better. For dessert, we got the chocolate pot du cream which was the best part of the whole meal! It was decadent and decorated with special Valentine's Day themed macarons and candy hearts. Service was 5/5. Waiter was visible and prompt with our orders and very kind. Everyone that works here seems to have worked here for a long time, which speaks volumes for the ownership. Atmosphere 5/5. Even though this is more of a fine dining menu, the ambiance was very laid back. Almost felt like I was dining at a friend's house. It was cozy and our tables were really close to one another but it wasn't a problem. Overall, we had a good experience and will be back to try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
What an unforgettable meal! Drinks were amazing and served in fun glasses. Garlic bread is a must, one order easily serves 3 people. The menu is small and changes often but everything is great! Order a bunch of things and share. Our waiter was funny and attentive and added to the experience! You can request a reservation via email or walk in.

Yelp
After seeing all the reviews and the Reddit recs I really hyped Peter's Inn up in my head. We tried to come here once but weren't able to because we didn't have a reservation, and that's when the obsession really took off. Every time anyone mentioned going out to eat I had the name Peter's Inn at the tip of my tongue. We finally made a reservation... and it was just kind of disappointing. To start, the space feels tiny - I bumped into the guy sitting at the table next to ours at least 5 times while trying to sit down, and I'm not a big person (if I say so myself). We couldn't really talk about anything because we had 4 other people literally within caressing distance and the music was loud. The table was almost too small to hold all the dishes and drinks we ordered too. And while I will say the food was generally well made and tasty, it wasn't really that special or worth the price in my opinion? Although I didn't like the tuna tartare or the pot du crème, which sucks because I really love that type of stuff. Obviously, a lot of people disagree with me, but it just wasn't for me!

Yelp
I've been in Baltimore 5 years and somehow I have never eaten here until recently. It is small and kind of dark, and very intimate. Our waiter got us water and our drinks right away. If you are thinking about the martini service, just do it. It's so good! My husband isn't a big martini drinker but even he liked it. Dollar for dollar, your best bet! We ordered the oysters with caviar (perfect with the martini!), the house salad, a salmon pasta, a short rib pastry, and their signature dessert. Everything was delicious! The staff was attentive, the drinks were great, and I can see why this is a Baltimore staple. If you've never been, this is your sign to make a reservation!

Yelp
Overall: Really wanted to enjoy this spot and looked forward to it but it isn't for us. Pros: Welcoming hostess. Martini service - one martini in a glass and one refill in small carafe on ice with garnishes, was good. Clams were delicious as was the foie gras. Wagyu tartare was decent but tasted like there was too much seasoning. It was also topped with an egg (fine) and a sauce on the side that pooled underneath a little (not a fan). We expected a "cleaner" tartare for a farm to table-like spot and less seasoning to let the wagyu shine. Cons: Service/Waiter. Several times he walked away mid sentence or when we had questions about what he suggested. Maybe he thought I was finished with the convo because I had to turn to see my dining partner because with such tight tables, he was always talking to the back of my head. We gave it a pass, hoping it was just a miss and were still hopeful. However, after a few more misses, we hit another issue with just wanting what we ordered. We ordered a last round of martinis to be followed by the pot de crème and French press coffees for dessert. However, the pot de crème showed up *with* martinis. Who doesn't love a salty briny martini with a decadent rich chocolate dessert?! Fine, figured coffees would show when someone picks up the empty martini glasses. Nope. Martinis were done, minutes waiting were passed, and coffee never came, nor did the waiter, for some time. When he showed up to ask if we were finished, we really were done with it all, so got the bill and asked to have the coffee removed from the bill. My friends were right. There's a feel to this place. For us, the feel is that it's not for us, especially for the prices and with so many awesome restaurants in the city.

Yelp
A speakeasy for food. That's the best way to describe it. Food- everything 5/5 I ordered trout pate and tuna tartare for an appraiser, and they were absolutely scrumptious and perfectly plated. For my main entree, I got the short rib Wellington, and that was also truly scrumptious. The sauce that went on it was perfect. And to touch it off, i had a delicious chocolate mousse birthday dessert. Service - 5/5 My waiter was extremely friendly, funny, and overall charismatic. He provided a lot of great dialogue throughout the dinner. All the other staff who came by were very generous too. My only complaint was the lack of water glass automatic refilling. Ambiance - 5/5 A speakeasy for food. It's a narrow building that used to be a biker bar, turned into a lowkey establishment for food and drink. The paintings are very classy on the walls. Great hidden gem. I WILL be coming back very soon!!

Yelp
In town for a conference and stumbled upon Peter's Inn thanks to some recommendations on Reddit. We loved every single thing we had, but the absolute best part was the pot du crème for dessert with a French press cup of coffee. Our host was very friendly and seated us quickly even though we didn't have a reservation (we got there around 8). Our waiter was very cool. Not overly chatty, but in a good way. He gave us some recommendations on the menu when we asked for them and he would check on us in passing with just the right amount of involvement. Vibes were good. It's in an old dive bar and still feels pretty organic/authentic. It could easily be pretentious about the farm-to-table food, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. Lots of nice little touches (cantaloupe piece in the water, sugar stick and a biscotti piece with the coffee, etc). We'll try to come back here anytime we're in Baltimore.

Yelp
I had dinner at Peter's Inn with my husband and a friend for her birthday recently. It's one of her favorite restaurants in the city, and she chose it for her birthday dinner! The menu at Peter's Inn changes all the time. When you arrive, you receive a handwritten menu with their offerings that day. So most of what we tried might not be on the menu anymore, but here's what we ate: an endive salad; tuna tartare; a NY strip with mashed potatoes, a few green beans, a carrot, and a pickle spear; their creamed spinach; a lobster pot pie; a mango sorbet; a lemon sorbet; and a chocolate pot de creme. I wouldn't say that any of the food was very memorable except for that creamed spinach (they add Pernod, which gives it a great flavor); I was skeptical when our waiter recommended we ordered the creamed spinach (it's not usually very good, is it?!), but it was the standout for me of the whole meal. I do like the menu and would be willing to go back to try more of their food - mostly because the rest of the experience was a standout for me. The ambiance and the service were exceptional! We sat at a table outside, which was perfect. The seating is in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk, so it couldn't feel more like a neighborhood bistro! And our waiter was just wonderful; he was personal, funny, chatty, helpful,...he was just great. And it was clear he loves Peter's Inn. On my first visit, the food didn't blow me away. But the experience did. I'll be back. A wonderful neighborhood spot in the heart of Fells Point!

Yelp
Went to Peter's inn this past weekend with my boyfriend with high expectations considering the hostess was giving us the impression that the restaurant was top tier due to her slight arrogant attitude she was giving the guest that were walking in without reservations. We sat at the bar and seen the hostess turn away many guest for seats that sat empty for over and hour! It was very strange, the food was decent, not wowing but edible. We got the halibut with risotto, steak, lobster roll and this wagyu app.

Yelp
I will always go to Peter's Inn for a celebration and/or I have visitors. I on the occasion pop in for their amazing cocktails, martini service and pot de crème dessert. It's an old town home that's been turned into a restaurant that sits people in the bar and the back and outside, weather permitting. The first time I went, I went for the martini service and steak. The second time for their Last Word cocktail and pot the crème. Since then I get whatever special they have. The waiters are staples of the restaurant industry and have been working at Peter's Inn for decades. Their menu rotates frequently, and it's ALWAYS hand written, but some of the classics and the most simple things like the house salad and the garlic bread are SO CRAVEABLE. The restaurant is a bit tight, it's a row home but it's so quaint and the food and drink quality is phenomenal. From the metal ceilings to the neon cocktail light at the bar, it's a special place. If you see foie gras on the menu, GET IT.

Yelp
Parked down the block from Peter's Inn and was greeted by a rat on the sidewalk. When we walked in they did not honor our reservation for a table for 4 and wanted us to sit either outside or at the bar. We opted for the bar. The restaurant was extremely noisy with the crowd and music was blaring behind my head which the bartender did turn down on request. Drinks were decent. The smoked trout pate appetizer was mostly just cream cheese. The calamari app lacked flavor. Both the duck (overcooked) and short rib mains were just mediocre in flavor with no effort put into the presentation. One of the saving graces was that service was very friendly, but I find all the hype about Peter's to be much ado about nothing and I've got no reason to go back there.

Yelp
Peter's Inn continues to be our date night spot. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great people.

Yelp
Five stars by virtue of the food alone. We had espresso martinis, wagyu tartar, tuna paté, and pot du créme. Everything was incredible, full stop. Some of the best tartar I've ever had. A lot of very novel flairs - smoked oyster aioli on the tartar, pickled caper berry on the paté. Service was good. As far as ambience, it felt like a neighborhood joint. Overall, an experience you should not miss if you're in Baltimore, and frankly five stars is not enough.

Yelp
Everything was spot on. We were fortunate to get a table toward the back where it was a little less busy in terms of traffic going by. The place is very small and very popular. The food was excellent as was the service. Anxious to go back.

Yelp
I freaking love this place. Oysters. Steak. Martini service (just order it). Champagne. They hand write their menus. They ONLY take reservations by email (no phone) but rest assured they will get back to you. Service is elite. There's like 12 total tables in this place and a bar top. Low ceiling. Dim lighting, but not too dark. Candles. Fun pictures in the bathroom. 10/10 would eat there another 100 times

Yelp
Great martini. Wonderful and creative menu. Wait staff and service was excellent. Happy to have tablecloths on the table. The serving plates were beautiful. Suggestion. We sat by the window with a grate over it and on the outside was some sad plants and empty flower pots. Funky charm? Why not have an old time Baltimore screen painting instead. Thanks for a fun evening.

Yelp
Peter's Inn is a hidden gem of Baltimore. I absolutely loved this little row home restaurant. The whole menu sounded amazing. I wish I could've tired it all. Plus the service was great! They also had great cocktails and had very heavy pours of wine after a long week. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. Not pictured is the garlic bread. It's an absolute must have!

Yelp
Still stellar. Perfectly cooked halibut. The pot du creme dessert is so heavenly...a must-have!

Yelp
Our experience at Peter's Inn was disappointing, primarily due to the owner's apparent lack of understanding of good customer service. It was our first time here. According to their website, outdoor seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while indoor dining can be reserved. Given this information, we did not specify our seating preference when making our reservation, assuming indoor seating would be allocated as appropriate. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find ourselves seated outside. When my husband questioned the waitress about this discrepancy, she simply informed us that indoor seating was not an option. There was no attempt to apologize for the oversight. On a hot and humid night, we would have preferred to dine indoors with air conditioning or at least a fan. Additionally, with an approaching storm, we requested to at least move to the only outdoor table with an umbrella, but our request was denied by the wait staff. When we ask what if it started raining while we were dining, the waitress reiterated that they did not have indoor seating and called the owner. His response was unexpectedly confrontational; upon his arrival, he accused us of being rude to his staff, although he was not present during our conversation with the waitress. His exact words were: I am very close to asking you to leave because you have been rude to my staff. Feeling frustrated by his unwarranted accusation, we decided to leave. With several other dining options nearby, we saw no reason to support an establishment managed by such an arrogant person, that apparently has a history of reservation issues as noted in multiple reviews. Throughout the entire interaction, neither the waitress nor the owner offered an apology for the confusion or inconvenience caused.

Yelp
My meal at Peter's Inn was one of my best this year, including two of my favorite bites this year. I'd had my eye on Peter's Inn for awhile, but am only sporadically in Baltimore. As I happened to be in Fells on a Saturday evening, I knew I had to check Peter's Inn out. I walked in, and immediately felt the tremendous ambiance. You enter through what feels like a side door, like you stumbled into this crowded, old-time bar/inn that feels like it's been there forever. As a walk-in l Party of 1 at 6:15pm, I got a seat at the bar immediately - if I'd been any more, I likely would've need to wait - but what a worthwhile wait that would've been. A friendly bartender immediately tended to me, and I received the menu of the week, which told me that while Peter's Inn hadn't been there forever, a menu # well over 1,000 confirms what I was getting at. I ordered a seasonal cocktail (a play on a cape codder), the short rib en croute, a side of garlic bread, and the vanilla espresso pot de creme. The cocktail and the garlic bread were each very good - the cocktail nice and refreshing , the bread hearty as can be - but the short rib and pot de creme were otherworldly. The short rib was cooked in puff pastry, arriving with a small pitcher of au jus. Every bite was scrumptious beyond belief, only making me want more. While on the small side for an entree, I would order it ten times over. And ugh the vanilla espresso pot de creme was out of this world. Each bite brought a delicious baked smell, a strong yet balanced espresso flavor, and the perfect texture (like a thick mousse). It was a dessert that made me involuntarily "mmm" and somehow each bite continued to be better than I remembered the last being. While a little pricy ($15), it definitely could be shared for two, and is worth every single penny. I felt at home here. Service was attentive, helpful, and conversational. Regulars were to my left. A first date was to my right. Scrumptious food was all around. I would be back to Peter's Inn in a heartbeat, and I'd encourage anyone else to do the same. While on the pricier end ($20-35 for an entree, with limited expectation for leftovers), I had one of my best meals here, and you could too.

Yelp
My wife and I dined at Peter's Inn on 2/11. This was our experience: SERVICE: We were seated at the bar. The staff was very attentive and engaging, hence the lone star. AMBIANCE: The lighting was extremely dim so I couldn't get decent photos for this review. It was as loud you could imagine in a bar atmosphere. The waiting area is nonexistent, so if you're seated at the bar, you'll pretty much have waiting guests hovering over your experience. FOOD: We ordered the 13oz NY strip with potatoes and vegetable blend. Lamb Ragu Tagliatelle, garlic bread, and 4 cocktails. The NY strip smelled and tastes awful. Our steak was over cooked while needing salt and pepper to be palatable. The potatoes tastes as if they are instant, boxed, and mixed with a few real potatoes. The Lamb Ragu Tagliatelle was severely underwhelming in portion and resembled something you would expect to receive in a chain style pasta shop. The garlic bread and cocktails were actually delicious, hence the lone star. NICHE/VALUE: Anyone that's been fine dining knows that Peter's Inn is attempting to structure it's menu similarly in price and description. However, the quality falls well below the mark and absolutely does not justify the price. We could've spent the same amount of money at Oregon Grille, Cinghiale, or Tagliata, and got extremely high quality food. The value isn't there. OVERALL: We really wanted to like Peters Inn as it was highly touted by food bloggers in Baltimore. We love to support smaller operations and want to see Peters Inn succeed, but work needs to be done on the quality. I did not mince words here but to say we we're disappointed is an understatement. We do understand that sometimes establishments get it wrong so we decided to leave a full tip. Hopefully if you choose to dine with Peters Inn your experience will be different.

Yelp
I am struggling here. I came in on a Thursday and snagged a seat at the bar. I received initial "what do you want drinks" , but then it was a struggle to get service . They were 1/2 empty. The braised beef encroute was goodish. It tasted good, but far more pastry then beef shortrib. I was hopeful for an awesome experience, but epic fail

Yelp
Peters Inn 4.5 rating, what a great little place. Being a regular patron here would be awesome. Excellent food and people, worth a visit if you are in the area. Plan in advance it is a smaller place to dine. Next time I am in town, I will go solo and sit at the bar, it felt like a road warrior kind of bar, so we will see. Take care and be safe.

Yelp
Ended up here by accident during a torrential downpour and happy I found this place. It's a little hole in the wall and now one of my favorite places in Baltimore. Quirky atmosphere. Great service. Delicious drinks. And AMAZING food.

Yelp
One of the best hidden gems in Baltimore! Peter's Inn is a small but, busy restaurant that is definitely popular amongst the locals. I highly recommend making a reservation via email through their website because, again it is so busy! The menu rotates weekly. All of the items are very unique and super fresh. The steak tartare came with a quail egg on top and was incredible with the perfect notes of mustard. The scallop was out of this world. Probably the best scallop I've ever had. Although it's one scallop it's very large and the presentation is very pretty! We got the salmon with pumpkin ravioli and clam linguine as our entrees and they were also incredible - the seafood is cooked perfectly and the pasta is made in house! The staff are all very friendly and accommodating as well! They know the menu very well and can definitely give advice if you're having trouble deciding. Overall, a MUST try when you're in Baltimore!

Yelp
Everything I had at Peter's Inn was well executed. There were no blatant flaws in the execution. That said, I found the dishes I tried to be only somewhat interesting and unique. I started with the trout pâté. The spread was very smooth. However, the flavor didn't greatly differ from Philadelphia cream cheese Salmon spread. The dish was not a true pâté but more of a blend of cream and fish. The smoked fish notes were drowned out by the dairy in this one. While it was tasty, I didn't think it spotlighted the trout well enough. I did like the use of the sweet/acidic toppings to contrast with the dairy. The deconstructed french onion soup (beef broth, short rib, onions) held a great intense beefy flavor. The broth was very well executed and tasted of complex broiled beef bones, fats, and mirepoix. The short rib was buttery tender. This dish was excellent. Next I had the 4oz petit filet. The filet was perfectly cooked to my order of medium rare. The steak was of high quality. The veggies on the plate were a nice balance of crunch and tenderness. The mashed potatoes were of smooth texture and brought a lot of buttery flavor. As a side, I ordered the garlic bread. The server said it was a favorite. I found the texture to be very tough. And the garlic on top was underexecuted and had acidic/biting notes on the palate. As a note, both of us found the menu to be too ambiguous. It was very difficult to tell what menu items would actually be. Even after asking our server to clarify things, we didn't have a good idea of what the portion sizes would be for various dishes. I did get a couple cocktails, the Boulevardier and an Old Fashioned. Both were well crafted. I thought the bill total was reasonable. But the menu was definitely difficult to follow. Nothing I ordered blew me away. But most of my food was well-executed and tasty.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my experience here. The restaurant is only open Thursday-Sunday and I would definitely recommend making a reservation (via email on their website) or you will be waiting for a while because it's a small place. The menu changes every week except for a few specials, you can check online before going. We had the smoked trout pate, the garlic bread and the halibut with ravioli and we really enjoyed everything we ate. I love that the menu changes every week to get a new experience. The restaurant is pretty tight, so I recommend eating outside if you want more space. Definitely recommend for a special meal!

Yelp
Peter's Inn is a hole in the wall, former dive bar turned fine dining, blink and you'll miss it kind of restaurant! It's nestled into the corner of Eastern and S Ann and is the perfect spot for an intimate dinner with friends/family/date night. The first thing you'll notice reading reviews is their famous garlic bread, and it did not disappoint!! We also ordered the burrata salad, diver's scallop, and short ribs. Overall the flavors were OUTSTANDING--people's choice award goes to the scallop which sat on a bed of the most mouthwatering mashed sweet potatoes cooked with leeks and bacon. For their prices, we thought the portions were a little petite. But ordering 3-4 plates for 2 people left us pretty satisfied.

Yelp
*sigh* My husband and I doubled back here because the experience we had 3 years ago was great and we wanted to try it again. When we got there we were seated at the bar. I asked if we could sit at one of the many empty tables (it was our anniversary and we wanted a more intimate experience) mainly so that we could have space for the tomahawk steak we intended on ordering. They were reluctant to and after a few waters, they told us we could sit at a table. Well, at this point they made us feel bad for wanting a table (their eyes and sighs didn't lie) and after sitting I noticed that my glass of water had some sort of black gunk on it. I never asked for another one because they already made me feel like a bother. Just didn't drink it. We ordered a Tomahawk steak and they told us that we should order it medium rare. We don't eat our steaks that way for many personal reasons. They told us that if we wanted it medium well like we asked it would be a while because they don't cook them that way often. Gee, thanks. We also asked for a steak topper of melted cheese and onion that did not come out on the steak. We mentioned it to a passing by waiter because our waiter never came to our table for us to tell him. 10 min and a lukewarm half eaten steak later and it came out. We were surrounded by couples who were celebrating their anniversary and were getting complimentary glasses of champagne and desserts with candles. It was also our anniversary and my husband put that on our reservation but we were not afforded the same experience. It was an all around bad experience for it to be so cramped and expensive. Not even bitter but to be honest, the food isn't worth the price, the inconsistent service nor the extremely tight space in there. The couple next to us had a few to drink and the husband was able to tilt slightly and put his head on my shoulder. I didn't mind that part but just gives you an idea of how tight it is. Happy to say that we won't be back to spend our hard earned money and very sporadic time together alone when there are sooo many amazing places in town (and out) that really know good service and good food.

Yelp
This was the worst dining experience I have ever encountered taking into consideration worldwide travel. We made reservations for dinner and it was clear on the website that reservations were for indoor seating and folks without reservations could sit outdoors. We were surprised upon arrival that we were seated outdoors. We asked about indoor seating and were told none was available. We were concerned about the weather forecast which showed impeding rain on the radar (it indeed did rain). We asked what would happen if it rained and were told the owner would come speak to us. The owner approached our table and we were told to leave because we were being "rude" to the staff. I can't figure out how asking polite questions could be construed as rude. The owner became quite abusive and we quietly left. We enjoyed a lovely meal elsewhere. Considering the entrees on the menu were in the $40-$50 range I was thankful to avoid more abuse and then getting rained on. Looking at other reviews, it's clear that the establishment has a serious problem honoring reservations. Thankfully, there are countless dining options in Baltimore where paying guests are treated with civility and respect.

Yelp
Apparently reservations do not matter. Arrived on time. Was told I could not be seated. Waited an hour around the corner. Arrived back and was told once again that I could not be seated. What's the point of reservations. Horrid service. Horrid accommodation. And horrid experience

Yelp
Great farm to table. I enjoyed the homey atmosphere, and the fresh food. This has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. I'm glad that they opened up again after the pandemic.

Yelp
First time eating at Peter's Inn. We made a reservation for 9pm but ended up needing to revise it for earlier. The restaurant was very accommodating. We started out having two drinks from the bar. Drink menu provided some great choices of craft cocktails. I ordered a cucumber mojito and friend a grapefruit Campari spritzer. Very refreshing. Food menu offered a wide selection of appetizers, salads, and entries. We started out with oysters in half shell which were very fresh and delicious. House salad was simple but the house dressing was amazing paired with their garlic bread. Our entrees included halibut and little neck clams. Both dishes were very good. Ingredients tasted so fresh. Service was excellent. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Found this place through my IG algorithm searches and I was really looking forward to a delicious dinner based on a very unique menu and excellent reviews. I made a reservation and was promptly contacted via email with the perfect time. The day came and I showed with my husband to find an extremely loud, poorly located, cramped reserved table and honestly overrated environment. Food was also disappointing and overpriced unfortunately. We ordered their famous garlic bread, white cheddar grits, short rib on a deconstructed French onion soup and the lobster pot pie with a sauce that was too rich, over empowering with hardly any veggies and a random lobster tail... got a coffee press served with old rancid ground coffee beans, barely got any iced water refills and my waiter appeared to be more amused serving the table right next to us with a birthday sugar baby/sugar daddy situation than making sure we were ok and that food came out on time and to the restaurant reputation standards. After more than 75 dollars later I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth and with no desire to come back or recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
So many people love this place that I almost feel bad writing this. But...took my 22 year old son here for his birthday and it was a disappointment. They sat 3 of us at a very small table for 2, and thought I appreciate that they accommodated us, they probably should have turned down the reservation, which is only available by email (weird and slow). My filet mignon was pricey but dry, and the espresso martini was lackluster. Too much coffee not enough flavor. The charcuterie board we got for an appetizer had so many things that were pretty to see but not great to eat. The atmosphere is fun and festive but they have a lot of competition in the neighborhood now.

Yelp
Small. Date night. Best food ever. A treat to go to- since we can't walk it's a special treat to go here. Not super kid friendly, best for adults

Yelp
I joined a group for dinner here with a reservation two weeks ago. Peter's Inn takes reservations via email only. I'd only been a couple of times before, and that was pre-pandemic. I only recalled having sat outside before. We arrived and were seated inside, at a table pretty much right by the front door. The inside of this place was stifling on a mid-August evening, even though it looked like their ductless air conditioning unit was on. The inside is lively (loud) and dimly lit. The bar looked like a good time, at the expense of the tables shoved up against the other side wall of the space. This ambiance should have been our first clue to cut our losses and take our chances for this birthday dinner elsewhere. Our server seemed quite pleasant at first and took our drink order promptly. The host made sure our water glasses remained full. But that's where what one would expect from a restaurant sequence of service came to a grinding halt. When we asked to order appetizers, we were curtly informed that we needed to order all of our dishes at once. When we said that, in that case, we would need more time, the server seemed annoyed. And indeed, we needed more time to interpret the handwritten menu. It was admittedly hard to read in the dim light, and easy to miss items that were written down in no particular order. For starters, we ordered oysters, garlic bread (each order is a single piece, so for our group of five that meant five orders of garlic bread at a few dollars a pop), and a peach and goat cheese crostini. Thankfully, they spaced out the apps and the entrees. The apps arrived, with the garlic bread and crostini being pretty average tasting. The oysters were presented on a platter that just looked very suspect - imagine if you scraped a bunch of stuff off of the floor of King Triton's bathroom. Just...a mess. Suffice to say, there was little enthusiasm at the table for that dish. For entrees, half ordered a pasta dish and the other half the short rib. Short rib - traditionally a hearty, satisfying dish - was served with a sliver of bread, with the bit of short rib portion shredded in the bottom of a bowl with onions and a large ramekin of jus. Look, I get that inflation is a thing, but if you can't afford to serve a decent portion for $28, serve something else. At the end of the service, we were presented with a handwritten check and (finally) asked by our server how everything was. I informed her the the meal was okay, but that we found some of the portion sizes to be very small for the price, in particular the short rib. Her response was to direct any complaints to the reservation email address. When I informed her that we were not complaining, only responding to her question about how everything was, she became curt and said she was sorry we had a bad time. Having waited tables for seven years not so long ago, I just never would have had the audacity to speak to any guest like that - much less a table that just dropped $300. With all the choices available for dining out, there is no reason to give Peter's Inn a shot, unless you are local to the neighborhood, alone or with a single companion, can dine outdoors, aren't hungry, and enjoy rude servers.

Yelp
Seems like it's repetitive but this is the best restaurant in Baltimore. Menu is amazing with so many unique and exciting choices. Our picks tonight were Braised Short Ribs(perhaps the best I've ever had), Seared Tuna (always a winner) Oh I forgot appetizers Malpeque Oysters, perfectly shucked and with all the extras. Even had slivers of Horseradish Root. Belgian Chocolate for dessert. Oh did I mention the classic wines by the glass or the Martini Service. Oh so good!!'

Yelp
A recommendation from a local, I headed to Peter's Inn. It looks just like a house that's been converted to a restaurant and so I had a table in the back room. On a quiet weeknight, my friend and I had this small room to ourselves, which was very nice. I had a simple salad to start with, which arrived with a massive slab of garlic bread. Tasty stuff. With it, a local Heavy Seas beer. I always like having a local beer when I can, so that's a bonus point for them. The menu appears to constantly change - they photocopy it weekly and I overheard them mention to another customer that they were out of one item. So it's all fresh and that's a good thing. For main course, I opted for the tagliatelle. Thick and rich tomato sauce, loaded with fresh oregano and basil, plus pistachios. Very, very, very good. Not a huge portion, which was nice. As for dessert, there was a nice list of things and something with blueberries caught my eye. As opposed to the dinner, this was a big portion of something sort of souffle-like topped with real whipped cream. Not that canned crap. This was actual whipped cream. And real, live blueberries. Not fake compote stuff. It was uh-may-zing! Terrific service from at least three different servers. Really good experience here. A great date-night experience if that's what you might be looking for.

Yelp
Well, apparently Karen has left the house. And with her the exclusive experience. I spent $200 for 2 andi was disappointed with EVERYTHING except the salad. Wow, $89 for a well done WAY over salted steak with sorry cold veggies, uninspired soup. And decent mashed potatoes(whop whop, not). The $40 halibut was cold and tasteless. Wow, they really screwed up. I guess Karen is gone. Going to eat my Lame $100 leftovers. By Bud!

Yelp
I am on a seriously great streak of good luck with the new restaurants that I have been to lately. Peter's Inn has been on my radar for years (seriously, YEARS) but I just hadn't gotten around to going there. Our team at the office decided to get together for dinner last night, and on a whim I suggested this place. Everyone thought it was a great idea, so off we went! Peter's opens their doors for cocktails at 5 but doesn't start serving for dinner until 6. No problem, this gives you plenty of time to get in and get settled, grab a seat at the bar and enjoy one of their libations and peruse the menu, all while putting your name on the list for dinner seating. Peter's is first come first serve, no reservations, so if you don't want to wait while the place is packed with people, come early. Note also that they are only open W-Sat; check their website or better yet, sign up for their weekly emailed menu subscription and stay abreast of their schedule and current menu selections. Our group had some cocktails at the bar while we waited, and the bartender and our future server kept us talking and laughing. That friendly and informative service continued all the way through the meal. We received great recommendations on what to try and we could not have been happier with our selections. At our server's suggestion we started off with two orders of the garlic bread and salad to split between the five of us. This was more than enough to share and it was fantastic. The garlic topping was amazing, I think there was gorgonzola in it, and the salad was fresh and tart with a seasoned balsamic dressing. I'm still thinking about this salad! For our entrees, most ordered the lamb chop, while I ordered the petite filet and there was also an order of burrata. My filet was covered with melted Dutch blue cheese and cooked perfectly med-rare; it was so tender it practically melted in your mouth. We finished up with a selection of macarons (raspberry, lemon, pistachio, chocolate and vanilla), light and not too sweet, and their amazing pot de crème with chocolate hazelnut gelato. That pot de crème was like eating a slightly more solidified brownie batter, it was out of this world. It is also worth mentioning that the pace of the meal was perfect, we did not have long waiting periods nor were we rushed. Everyone agreed that this was a great experience. The service could not have been friendlier or more welcoming for us first-timers, and the food was outstanding. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Peter's Inn has a soul--easily my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. The lamb ragu is my favorite dish on their recent menu, but everything I've tried exceeds expectations. For the vibe, I'm going with intimate eclectic. Reservations are a must--bar or table.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to re-visit Peter's Inn on a rainy Friday night and it was as good as I remember! The place is always busy, but the friendly staff seem to strive to seat everyone who arrives if at all possible. We grabbed two seats at the bar and enjoyed our friendly bartenders, who also provided excellent food recommendations. We had a very unique dish called the smoked trout pate - oh my goodness it was amazing. We each had a bowl of short rib french onion soup as well which was the perfect meal for this rainy winter night. What a great place - very friendly, casual atmosphere and excellent food! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Let me break it down for you, so I can be fair and objective across multiple dimensions. 1. Food = 0 stars I ordered three things on the menu and each more underwhelming than the other. The salad was just a plate of overdressed romaine lettuce. Nothing else. Something I would get free as a side at a takeout place. The rib soup was saltier than the Dead Sea but the flavor unfortunately struggle to stay afloat. Finally, the piès de résistance: the fillet mignon. Without exaggeration, it was the toughest and the blandest fillet I have ever had. It was so bad that I stopped eating after two bites. 2. Service = 0 stars You know those restaurants where the servers are inviting friends over and chatting with them right behind your table? You don't cause restaurant aren't suppose to do that. But not at Peter's Inn. Everyone service member has a friend and some of the friends even have friends. 3. Value = 0 stars (if I could, I would give it a negative value) I will let the prices speak for themselves. Lettuce = $8, Soup = $20 and Fillet = $34. If the food was edible, it would have been reasonable but for someone who had to get chipotle after spending $66, it wasn't great value. 4. Sanitary standards = 0 stars Let's just say, I am writing this review from my throne. 5. Professionalism = 0 stars See comments on service. Also, how many people does it take to turn on the heat? Apparently more than 3. Also, would you consider it good service if you asked for the heat to be turned on and then someone turns it off after it was turned on? I know heating units can be complicated but if you are running a restaurant, you should really figure it out. 6. Honesty = 0 stars The cocktail menu lists five or six cocktails and one price: $6.50. When I saw the bill list it as $12.50, I thought it was time for me to go to the eye doctor. When I called attention to the menu, I was told that the listed price applied to only to the first drink. So when I asked, short of being a mind reader, how could I have known about the apparently classic "price only applies to first drink" canon, I was told "you can always ask". After I protested, the manager was nice enough to take it off the bill. How about we replace the "price applies to first drink only" rule with "prices displayed next to the drinks" preferably typed and not handwritten in cursive (as was all of the menu) Overall, definitely memorable.

Yelp
What an amazing hidden gem!! We were only passing through town and wanted to stop for a good dinner. After reading all the reviews on many places, we picked Peter's Inn because of the reviews on its steak. And it did not disappoint! But that was only the beginning!! The crab cake was absolutely the best! The trout pate was our family's favorite and my kids ordered the braised short ribs and they were mouth watering good!!!! Everything exceeded our expectation and the crew were so friendly to us!!! We will highly recommend this yummy dinner spot to our friends in DC and near by!!

Yelp
This is an amazing place. The food is some of the best I've ever eaten. The steak was done to perfection. The beets were fascinating and tasty. Portions are just the right size with side dishes that ample for two. The service was outstanding. The menu changes weekly with farm to table options, which are delightful. The prices are very reasonable for such high quality fare. We are visiting from out of town and I'm so happy that we found them. I highly recommend eating here. I can't say enough good things about them. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Phenomenal... Peter's Inn is now my favorite place to get a steak in Baltimore . Definitely smart to get there just as they open at 5pm. We sat down just as they were opening but if we had waiters an hour we definitely would have had to wait. Amazing apps to share with the table . Friendly atmosphere. Definitely puts the charm in charm city.

Yelp
Wow! What a gem in a neighborhood full of gems! This place is unmarked but worth uncovering. We live in the neighborhood but kept forgetting about it until recently and we've now been twice within about a month. First time we sat in the cosy front room, and the second time we were able to dine outside. Service is very warm and attentive. Everything we ordered, from the cocktails to the dessert was really, very good. The menu changes often, but at both meals we loved the garlic bread and the trout pate. Can't wait to return!
