Peter’s Sushi & Thai - Review - Brentwood - Nashville - The Infatuation

"When you first pull up to Peter’s - a small, casual spot in a suburban shopping center - you might assume your GPS screwed up and took you to a very different sushi place than the one your friends have been raving about. But trust us: go inside, and you’ll quickly understand. Peter’s has a following that includes a few celebrities and also we normal people who’ve been spotted there multiple times a week eating the perfect rainbow roll and shrimp pineapple curry." - Kristen Shoates

Google
5 word summary: sorry the legacy is dead I'm sure at some point in the past this sonewhat historic establishment with famous visitors offered a unique experience and something worth recommending... Sadly that time is clearly come and gone. To level set I typically rate most sushi places with a baseline on their nigiri platters. I opted for the large since the small only offered a companion California roll (my first red flag). I was surprised that the set of nigiri included some less desirable options: egg and imitation crab. I expected shrimp though man was I not expecting how dry it was. Most of the other fish was dry and flavorless which is normally an indication that it isn't fresh or great quality. The tako was also very chewy and not at all tasting like a good octopus should. All in all I was pretty disappointed with my meal. The service gets a hit because my waitress was hurried and a bit rude, never once did anyone ask me how the food was, and only a single person smiled at me or greeted me. Overall I would avoid this spot if you want good sushi... Maybe the Thai food is better ?

Google
My daughter and I shared a nigiri and sashimi assortment of fresh sushi at Peter's Sushi. The sushi was so fresh and inviting. Everything was beautifully prepared and served with great joy! Highly recommend!

Google
Enjoyed beef red curry, vegetable rolls, and a beer. Had a fly antagonizing us throughout our meal. Would have liked goyoza but it was pork. I just don’t eat pork. Very nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Google
My wife loves this place and we go frequently. The prices have slowly crept up to the point where I definitely wouldn’t call this a great deal, but their curry makes it absolutely worth it. They have great variety and it’s a generous portion. I’m not especially impressed by the sushi, but they have a lot of options to scratch whatever itch you might have.

Google
The service here is outstanding! They are super attentive and anticipate anything you might need-- water, utensils, the check, etc. We never had to flag a server down. There were 3 people attending to us (and there were only 3 of us!). The menu has something for everyone too. I don't care for spicy food but there were still plenty of options. I had the red curry with chicken. It was terrific. My daughter had the fried rice and her fiance had the pad thai. We also had different sushi rolls. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is also super clean and everyone is friendly. No complaints. Highly recommend!

Google
We got the Green Dragon and the Curry and rice which came with an egg roll. The worker bee was prompt, fast and the food came out quick. My sushi was delicious. Just perfect for lunch and catch up with an old friend!

Lydia P.

Google
The sushi and Pad Thai were so delicious here! Also, love the teamwork the staff have going on. They all seem to help each other really well. I will be back!

Google
Best place for Thai hands down at the price point. Definitely a must try place if you are near Brentwood. 5/5 all the way round. Make sure to get extra peanut sauce for Pad Thai! It's THE best..

Yelp
Quick & friendly service. Warmly greeted as soon as we walked in the door. The wait staff works as a team. This chilly night got a Miso soup & a Peter's Thai Entree - the Broccoli with shrimp & chicken. The entree had plenty of tasty veggies & chicken & shrimp. Very filling

Yelp
Have never been to dinner at Peter's...and it did not disappoint! The food was great - and we ordered too much, as per usual, but we have some yummy leftovers for tomorrow. Tried to the crab salad roll and it was so light and flavorful - loved the sauce. The tempura shrimp+veggie appetizer was plenty for a meal and the batter was so light and crunchy! Tried their beef salad - with a side of rice and the dressing was perfect with plenty of beef. I cannot even begin to explain how amazing the service was - so attentive and would bring us items before we even asked! Much appreciated! All the thumbs up!

Yelp
Today I was really craving Thai food, so I ordered ahead and got shrimp & vegetable tempura along with red curry. I actually wanted yellow curry (my favorite!) but I've noticed most Thai spots only offer red or green. The meal came to $26, which felt a little pricey, but it did come in a cute reusable bag and even included some egg rolls. I meant to ask for extra tempura dipping sauce, but the cup they gave me looked like a good size--unfortunately, by the time I got back to my hotel (just 5-6 minutes away) the lid had popped off and the sauce leaked everywhere in the bag. Apparently, it was so hot it basically exploded the lid. That was disappointing, because I don't eat tempura without the sauce. That said, the red curry was absolutely delicious and worth it. I'd definitely give this place another try, maybe dining in next time to avoid the sauce mishap. I just wish I could've gotten a refund on the tempura.

Yelp
Great place! Food was delicious(Boat Noodles, broccoli beef). Great service, fast , friendly, and Open Christmas Day! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Ok, before you jump at me for the 3 stars, my reviews take in consideration all factors such as price for value, service, cleanliness, etc. This is the overall feedback. Service? Great, the personnel was friendly, fast and attentive to the mood of the table. That is a 5 star. Ambiance? Great, the decor is cool Ana makes you feel welcome. Not very noisy but it not quiet either. They have the sushi bar and you can see the chef making the sushi. The bathroom was smelling good but an upgrade wouldn't hurt the cleanliness appearance. Food? Very good. The taste was very good and I felt the good quality, but then the price... it doesn't really justify it. If they had the full package then the prices would be justified but those are prices for places that have the look unfortunately. I can find the same quality on another spot I go to with $5-7 less and bigger portions too. I know Brentwood can be pricey but still and they also charge for the yum yum sauce or any sauce extra $1... for real? Overall definitely come check it out because the food IS good, definitely good quality and the service is good but just be prepared to pay higher prices for less food. Come check it out and share your thoughts. Ps: no fancy attire required except shoes and shirts.

Yelp
A staple in Brentwood, we stopped in while shopping one evening. Peter's is an inviting place where the staff will immediately greet you upon arrival. If there is a wait, they'll write your name on a list and let you know how long the wait is. Luckily for us, there wasn't, however when we left there was. A testament to their delicious food. We ordered the agedashi tofu, curry, and garlic chicken. Everything came out so quickly, hot, and delicious. The portions are healthy and the service is great. We had enough to take some leftovers home and can't wait to return.

Yelp
I love the whole experience here every time I go! Thank you to the Peters team! I come every week and this spot is a staple for great food!

Yelp
Best sushi in town... great service! Always at the sushi bar!!! Lettuce wraps and dragon rolls are the best ever!

Yelp
YUMM! this is one of my favorite places for a delicious authentic meal! the sushi here is so delicious, ad well as every other dish! the fried rice was so good. the service of the restaurant was amazing also! i would definitely recommend this place to everyone in the area!

Yelp
I've always heard great things about this place but have never been even though I'm in the area regularly. So glad that I finally stopped in. We ordered Golden Crab, Yellow Curry with Chicken and Shrimp, Thai Basil, and shared a sushi roll. Everything was delicious!! Every single thing. Great service, fresh ingredients, flavorful, served piping hot all priced reasonably. All top things in my book.
google avatar

Yelp
This is an every time I visit must go place for sure. Amazing combination of great food, perfect service, and excellent location. WIN/WIN/WIN!
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
As always the sushi rolls and curry are the best in town. We had the Husband Wife roll and the Sunshine roll. A couple extra orders of steamed rice go great with the curry as the portion is large. We call ahead and it's very quick to pick up. Peters has been around for quite some time and continues to be the best.
google avatar

Tonya G.

Yelp
Nice restaurant, clean, and good food and service. Yummy Unagi bowl but something like a seaweed salad or a vegetable with it would help add more diversity to the plate. Also need to offer more kids' meal options.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Food Pad Thai was quite flavorful, but the shrimp was overcooked. I did like how they gave free egg rolls, and those were crunchy, fresh, and fried well. Service This removed 1 star because our table was pretty much forgotten about. Then, when we finally ordered the food, it took a very long time to come to the table. Ambiance If you're going for lunch, be sure you have plenty of time because it was packed. You might even need a reservation because I didn't see any empty tables besides the one we were lucky to get. I would go back but probably for dinner takeout and not get the shrimp.
google avatar

Joel B.

Yelp
Food was decent for the most part -- that was until we found a large black hair in the sushi after we had eaten a good portion of the food. Promptly lost all remaining appetite. The service is not the best here in spite of having several 'floaters' around. Once our server came back to the table and I pointed out the hair all she said was "sorry about that." No offer to comp. the dish with the hair on it, no offer to replace it with a fresh portion. Won't be going back.

Yelp
Took my grandson to celebrate his 13th birthday. The portions were huge. The food was fantastic. They were super busy but our food came pretty quickly. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
Amazing food. Sushi is probably the best in Nashville area. Very homey setting. The service is really good as they talk to you like your at home
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious! Great and attentive service- drink refills come fast. Loud in here in a good way because so many of us are here to enjoy the fabulous food! Love the fried rice here. We will always return!

Yelp
Peter's is my ride or die. Period. Best food and service in Nashville. Was there (again) this week and have no complaints.

Yelp
The circle of life has taken place at Peter's for me; from first dates, to mother-daughter lunches, to meals with friends... Peter's is the right environment for every occasion. Cozy into a booth for affordable sushi, great pad Thai & the best service in the greater Nashville area. Even the after dinner chocolate mints add to it's charm :)
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
We love Peter's! We dined in several nights ago and had a great experience. The staff is beyond friendly and attentive and you really can't beat the sushi. It's so worth it to drive down the road from Nashville to get their food when you're craving some really great Asian. We got the tuna salad roll, the Dragon roll, miso soup, the salmon avocado roll, and egg rolls. It was all fantastic. The sushi tasted very fresh. I love the vibe of the restaurant as well. It was absolutely packed on a week night (a testament to how good their food is)! We sat at the bar and loved watching the sushi chefs while we ate. Overall, we'll be coming back the next time we want great sushi and service. Thank you!

Yelp
I've only had the sushi so my review may not be as helpful for Thai but the sushi is awesome. The husband and wife roll is one of my all time favorites. I've been here a few times and never had anything that I didn't love. I think it's a mom and pop restersunt and the service is phenomenal. I drink a lot of water with my meals and they never let my water get empty. It's a little thing but it really sets them apart for me. Ying is a great waitress who deserves a raise. She appeared whenever I needed something and was invisible the rest of the time. I'm racing a bit in this review but I really like this. It has such a nice vibe too it. The staff smile and nod when they see a repeat customer. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Yelp
I've never eaten sushi in the Midwest until tonight. I was recommended to try out this place in Brentwood and wow!!! I was so surprised of how good it was being that it's in the midwest away from the water. I'm from San Francisco and when comparing the temperature and flavor, I could hardly tell the difference. Also, Paul was an excellent host.

Yelp
Just moved to the area, and can actually walk here from my new place. It's a hopping spot! Went last night (a Friday) around 5:30pm and while a huge line, they moved it quick and my friend and I were able to sit at the sushi bar not too long after we arrived. We shared the gyoza appetizer and then I ordered the Volcano roll, she ordered the Dragon roll and we shared the veggie roll. Gyoza: good but not enough crunch for me. A proper gyoza should be super seared and crunchy before finished by steaming, and it just didn't deliver that crunch factor for me. Flavored well and sauce was delicious. Volcano roll: will definitely be back for! It was great. Crab/shrimp/avocado.... And deep fried. Does it get any better? Slightly spiced sauce on top have it that extra kick it needed, although maybe a little heavy handed on the sauce. Didn't try the Dragon roll as it has raw fish inside and I don't do raw fish. Veggie roll was ok, 3 out of 5. There was a very soggy element inside that I tried to remove, but aside from that it was fresh and the perfect switch from my deep fried Volcano roll. Prices were fair and location can't be beat. Service was kind. See you soon guys!

Yelp
so I had the pot Thai and it was really good. Enjoyed it.. also I tend to like peanut sauce with my Thai food and that's one of those items that can be good or bad in this place in my opinion had a great peanut sauce and very reasonable. I've paid a lot of money for peanut sauce in the past this place was very reasonable. The weight staff rushed you a little bit that's cause they were busy and like any good business trying to turn tables. I'm sure but still friendly at that. Got the food out. It was hot and good. Would definitely go back again.

Yelp
A group of us came here for dinner during a business trip (we're from all over the country) after having many people tell us it was wonderful. They were right! We got a variety of plates to try including shrimp pad thai, chicken pad thai, sushi and drinks. The value was great, it was a lively atmosphere for a Tuesday night and I can see why it's such a popular joint. If you're looking for a fun casual spot for great food and fresh fish, come here!

Yelp
Love Peter's for a workday lunch stop. Service here is impressively fast and always friendly. The sushi always comes out extremely fresh and the quality of fish is too notch. Highly recommend checking out the Michael Jackson roll if you like a little spice with your roll.

Sammy M.

Yelp
Everytime I visit the area I make sure to stop by! Fresh sushi and an incredible pho bowl! Service is always fast and friendly! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Service was fantastic and food came out very quickly - even though the restaurant was full. Large lunch portions. Miso soup was delicious!

Yelp
Peter's Sushi & Thai is tucked in a shopping Center in Brentwood, so plenty of parking even it's crowded. We came on Friday evening and were seated right away but they stay full so plan accordingly. Full menu that takes a few minutes to review. We ordered a Dragon Roll off the Sushi menu to start the evening. Great Choice! Tuna, Salmon, Avocado, Cream Cheese, all deep fried. Yes to all of that! And our server got it to us quickly so we dialed back from 'hangry' status before the main dishes arrived. I ordered the Red Curry with Shrimp. Outstanding! The temperature was very hot. The Shrimp really retained the heat so I had to take my time eating it but that just made the pleasure last longer. Vegetables were perfect and the curry was so good, everyone else at the table was tasting and making plans to have the red curry on their return trips! The Spice temperature was just right. Enough so you noticed the first taste but you acclimate to it quickly. I'm not a fan of so much spice it overwhelms the other flavors and this was spot on. There was plenty of it, so I brought much of it home and I'm looking forward to the leftovers!~ Husband had the Pork Boat, which he described as different and not what he was expecting. It is good, but unusual. He was one of the ones planning for the Curry next time....

Joyce S.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Service was excellent and prices are reasonable. The only small con was that you're seated quite close to others. We had a dad and two kids beside us and I dubbed the kid "Typhoid Timmy" because he had a nonstop gnarly cough and made zero attempt to cover. The dad ignored his kids and looked at his phone the whole time. But I'll take my chances and go back because the food was that good!
google avatar

Azucena R.

Yelp
The pho was delicious and such a big portion , I shared it with my daughter. The sushi was tasty and right portions too. My daughter actually enjoyed both rolls as well. I enjoyed gyozas as appetizers the times I've came. This is the best spot for Thai food in Brentwood I recommend.
google avatar

Heath Y.

Yelp
I've been going here for years now. I've never had a bad experience or a bad dish. Peter's never fails to impress. Some of the best Thai food around. Despite the smaller dining area. The wait times are usually short and the service is fantastic. Deserves no less than 5 stars.
google avatar

Mallory B.

Yelp
A brentwood local's go-to. I've lived here my whole life and have always gone to Peters. Everything on the menu is amazing, the workers are as sweet as can be and it's always packed. Constantly recommending Peters.
google avatar

Safia S.

Yelp
Stopped by here with friends for lunch. We got an assortment of sushi and Thai dishes, all were really good!
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
I had the cashew chicken. While it tasted great, there was almost no chicken. One McDonald's chicken nugget has more chicken than my plate of cashew chicken had. The other person with me ordered their dish Thai spicy. It was not spicy at all. I, the spice wimp that cries at anything over 1, tried it and it didn't bother me. So while the food tastes good, it's not worth it.
google avatar

Natalie S.

Yelp
Y'all.... It was meh. I got the seaweed salad and green chicken curry. Nothing to write home about, but the service was good. I would go back if in the area and have a hankering for Thai food.
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
Went to Peter's Sushi & Thai with a friend and had a great meal. She was raving about how great Peter's was and that I'd love it because I am a Thai food nut. I'd have to say that everything we had was good, but it reminded me more of an Asian fusion restaurant than a Thai/Lao restaurant! If I was in the mood for sushi, Chinese, and whatever, this would be a great place to come. But if I'm looking for Mee Ka Tee or something of that sort, you wouldn't find it here
google avatar

Yeganeh P.

Yelp
I love the family atmosphere and the food is amazing! We usually do take outs as the place can get packed.

Chantel M.

Yelp
Not authentic Thai at all. Pad Thai was very sweet. Sushi rolls came out way to fast and tasted like they had been made days is advance. Will not return. Waitress was very kind and removed several items off our bill as they were not editable.

Katie W.

Yelp
Food was good and service was excellent. Decent quality for the price. Will go back!!

Ashley R.

Yelp
I tried the sushi and it was ok. The quality of the sushi was better than I expected but I felt like the rice was lacking and the rolls were small. I'd be interested to go back and try the Thai food.
google avatar

Arthur B.

Yelp
A nice Thai/Japanese (an odd mix) resturaunt. Sushi is made in house and my curry was pretty good. They can make it pretty spicy if you want. It was lively on Sunday and the waitresses were attentive. I liked how they had seating at their sushi bar area making it a nice place to go alone to eat.
google avatar

Payton P.

Yelp
The immediate ambiance of this place was warm and wasn't overwhelmingly loud. My fiancée and I went here for a casual date night and they immediately sat us at a table as we walked through the door. We were able to be greeted and put in our drink and food order within our first 5 minutes sitting down. My fiancée ordered the chicken pad Thai, cucumber rolls, and California rolls. I ate the chicken red curry. When I say this is the best Thai food I had in the area I mean it! The food after ordered came to our table hot and fresh within 5-10 minutes. It was fresh vegetables, still had a bit of a crunch to them. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the spice wasn't overwhelming. The cucumber and California rolls were delicious and came out very timely as well. The pricing was great for the amount of food you get. They were packed but I can see why!
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
I travel 25 minutes to get to Peter's. The green curry is my go to but I've never had a fish that is less than great. The service is great even when they are bursting at the seams.
google avatar

Van K.

Yelp
We decided to take a walk from our AC Marriott to a restaurant nearby and saw Peter's. The walk from the hotel is about 20min. The food was nice and the staff asked us the spice level before they make the food. The restaurant is clean and friendly staff. The dishes are not on the expensive side but the portions are decent size. I do recommend this restaurant if you are shopping nearby.
google avatar

Paulina O.

Yelp
I have been here for lunch on a weekday and Sunday lunch. Different prices but same menu. Check the hours since they close after 2pm and open back around 5pm during the week except on Sundays they are open all day. Food: We tried a little bit of everything. Overall the food has great flavors. Gyoza as appetizers was delicious. Pad thai, Pad se ew is great ( i was not a fan of the mushrooms in it but you can order with or without. Sushi is top noch. Highly recommend it. We had the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. Panang curry comes with side of white rice. Great flavors overall. Highly recommend this place for thai and sushi. Sundays are slow and plenty of seating. Lunch time gets crowded during the week.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Well after all the hype I wasn't impressed with the food. The service was fantastic. But everything else fell a bit flat. We ordered two rolls spicy tuna and a dragon roll. The sassy shrimp was super greasy. And the dish didn't flow there was no thing that interconnected the sauce was soupy down in the bottom was very much an afterthought. The salad and soup that was a starter was good.
google avatar

LiLian B.

Yelp
This was recommended to us by our agent and it definitely missed the mark. Now, we're from California so we are spoiled with the best quality sushi there is. We ordered 6 different kinds of sushi and they were all ok, expensive though at $22 for some. I ordered the big sashimi for $35 and it was not good quality fish at all. Some had skin on it making it sooooo fishy. I would give that 1 star, 3 stars for the sushi and 4 stars for shrimp tempura. Service was not the best either.
