For everyone else, Peterson’s old school doughnuts are worth the day trip. Hopefully they will continue to be, even after the new owner takes over. No one visits for the atmosphere/ambiance. The only reason to visit is to enjoy a wonderful donut or muffin or one of their other selections. The choices for donuts alone is huge. Enjoy and do not report this visit to your cardiologist!!

Google
The donuts are amazing. I was born in Escondido and I remember always having my father bring these donuts home. They have become more expensive. The thing that just didn’t make sense is that they took out the option to pay with cash. The service is awesome but taking out cash is a downgrade.

Google
So many donuts, so many pastries. Peterson’s has something for nearly everyone. Upon arriving at their surprisingly large parking lot, you walk up to a covered seating area that has large boards with the names and photos of their many varieties of donuts and pastries. If you need more proof that the actual product looks as good as the photo, walk around to the other side of the shop and you can peer inside of their many windows to see the actual donuts sitting on racks. I ordered three donuts: plain old-fashioned, chocolate-glazed old-fashioned, glazed old-fashioned. Just as I hoped, the donuts had a slight crunch on the outside and were soft and fluffy on the inside. Customer service was great and the employee we interacted with was patient and answered many, many questions for one of my companions.

Google
One if their donuts is equal to three donuts anywhere else! If you can think of a combination - they have it. There’s a maple donut with bacon bites in it. Yeah. Like who came up with that? They have a variety of jelly donuts that represent balls used in sports: football, soccer, baseball. The simple glazed donut is to die for.

Google
If you're craving donuts that are not only massive but absolutely delicious, Peterson's is the place to go! From the moment you get to the parking lot, you're greeted by the sweet aroma of freshly baked pastries and a display case that looks like it belongs in a dessert lover's dream. The donuts are gigantic, easily double the size of your average donut, but the quality isn't sacrificed one bit. The dough is perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of chewiness, and the toppings are abundant without being overwhelming. They have everything from classic glazed to creative options like maple bacon cronuts and Oreo crumble. 15/10 👌🏻

Google
Had them last night, me and my friend each one has a bite on each flavor, honestly speaking it was tasty. However, we then both had diarrhea for several time last night, I highly doubt their foods are clean or not. I wish to bring everyone’s attention

Google
The hype is real. The staff here is super friendly and encouraging, when you purchased their donuts. The donut size are extremely generous and are priced inexpensive in comparison to commercial counterparts the. now to the real star of the show the taste. The taste is amazing hands-down one of the best donuts I’ve had in my life, their pillow donuts, also known as a croissant donut... that right there should fill you up eating one of those for the whole day! I honestly cannot say you can go wrong picking one of their donuts. every bite is packed with flavor and it has the right texture per bite... if you get a jelly filled donut here that thing is filled to the max. Like the amount of jelly in that donut, could probably fill a small mason jar. I am warning you you probably could do one donut, maybe two max. if you get one of their bars, donuts. You’ll probably eat enough calories for two days. again, highly recommended. You should go here no doubt about it.

Google
Awesome donut shop. Amazing selection and BIG SIZED ONES that are worth the drive. Be prepared to wait in line, but it can move quickly. Open early and late, multiple windows to order from. They are also on every delivery service. A must visit for north county.

Yelp
It's not too many places these days that serve French crullers. This place goes over and beyond with the amazing different flavors and such fresh cake taste. I travel 30 miles from San Diego to get a dozen.

Yelp
Try this amazing donut shop located in Escondido. They have lots of varieties of donuts and it's super yummy. Specially their apple fritters are the best. I tried pistachio one as well, it was not too sweet and perfect. You just don't wanna stop and keep eating these donuts. They are open from 4am, but try to go early other wise it will be crowded, it is busy place and there is some place to sit and enjoy yummiest donuts. Also god thing is so far they were only accepting cash, now they are taking cards as well.

Yelp
Peterson's has been the go to for late night and early donuts as well as the go to for everyday donuts They've been around for decades and are now expanding into the building next door!! Note they aren't healthy, but they are delicious! Not unusual to see lines here at all times of the day. It's popular and they are pretty fast...
google avatar

Jonathan B.

Yelp
The service is good. The location is good. The parking is wonderful. I personally do not like the taste of the greasy donuts. They have a lard taste and lard smell from the oil in which they cook the donuts in
google avatar

Yelp
LOVEEE peterson's donut corner. A must stop whenever I'm around the area or driving by. My favorites are the bacon maple & glazed pillows, but those aren't always available, so I opt for either the bacon maple donut or get a different pillow available. Used to be cash only, but now they take credit card! Has some outdoor seating to chill and eat donuts at :)

Yelp
Peterson's Donut Corner is a small, super cute spot! It's literally at the corner that is all outside. You check out the menu in their small sitting area, order at one of the windows and get your order! On the side of Peterson's has a nice display of their yummy and delicious donuts. The cashier took our order, knew exactly what my bf wanted and got them packaged pretty quickly. I'd love to come back to try their specialty donuts next time

Erica T.

Yelp
First off the service sucks. The girl was extremely rude, very short, and rushing us. And second, I'm honestly incredibly shocked how many people recommend this place to my husband and I. The donuts were old, hard, and very dry. As soon as I bit into the first donut I immediately said it tasted like a 2 day old donut. The flavor of the actual donut reminds me of I guess Dunkin Donuts but worse? And the frostings taste like sugar. The glaze doesn't taste like glaze, the maple doesn't taste like maple. It's just sugar frosting. We did try the donut pillows since we over heard people raving about it. The dough was good, soft, and fresh but the frosting wasn't good. We ended up tossing ALL the donuts away and it sucks cuz they are pricey for a donut shop. It was not worth the drive. Save your $ or go elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
There's not much to say but this old school donut heaven is just the kind of place where you complete ignore the health related effects of sugar for that 6 minute mouth watering total enjoyment in the vitamin D producing sun of Escondido! Took lots of pics! Place is simply the bomb . Family owned - go!- indulge and repeat! I will

Yelp
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES HERE!!!! I needed that in caps because honestly their cookies are my go to when I'm having a cookie craving. One of my favorite things about living in Escondido is how close I am to Petersons. They always have amazing people to help you when you're ordering, they're always efficient. It's never a bad idea to come here and try their pastries. From their turnovers, to the Boston creme, to their glazed. So many phenomenal options to choose from.
google avatar

Briana V.

Yelp
The donuts were just okay. They were out of a lot of donuts so didn't get to try the cheesecake one or the soccer ball. I gave 3 stars because it's really hard to mess up on a glaze donut. The donut did not seem Fresh and was on the harder side. The maple bacon cronut was good but was really disappointed about the glaze donut. Hopefully their other donuts are a lot Better than the glaze . Eat at your own risk
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
The donuts are still yummy and large. However, in our opinion, the gigantic price increase has discouraged us from visiting Peterson's as often as we used to. 5:25 for an apple fritter it's just too much. So once a month will now become once a year. Sorry to see the change.
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
I understand why this place has so many reviews! We were very fortunate and had the choice of a lifetime, but truth to be told by my friends that are locals said it's not always the case. The Escondido thing to do....French Cruellers are my go to donut. I will always be on the hunt for the best kind. I would have to say this would be my top two. My top contender will always be the one back at home that they unfortunately don't make anymore so I guess by default it's number one. Cake donuts is where they thrive. It is definitely a solid donut spot with a range of options if you just go at the right time. They do have some tables outside for you to sit at, but it's not many. Service is quick and efficient with their walk up window.

Yelp
Nice big size donuts ! My boyfriend from Escondido recommended this place to me and my mom wanted me to bring her some. She lives in a care home in Granada Hills so on my way home to Santa Clarita, I thought it would be nice to bring all the residents donuts. Of course I got some to bring home to my son. I definitely will return to try the other speciality donuts they have.

Yelp
Peterson's Donut Corner is a haven for donut lovers, offering a vast variety of donuts and baked goods. The donuts here are massive, yet the prices are surprisingly affordable. On our visit, we indulged in a chocolate croissant, a raspberry-filled donut, an apple fritter, and a banana blueberry muffin. Each item was delicious and flaky, truly a treat for the taste buds. I highly recommend getting there early because these goodies sell out quickly!
google avatar

Judith N.

Yelp
They have a variety of ....you need to walk up to the window to pla e your order....there is some outside seating.....but most people place their order and go...rarely see anyone seating at the tables..when my family is visiting...they love Petersons.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
The donuts are good and huuuge. The staff was nice and friendly. It feels kind of like an classic burger joint where you walk up to place an order. Everything I've tried (ham/cheeee croissant, old fashioned, cruller) were all very very good Only negative was parking lot where some jerk went down the wrong way and didn't even try to back up so we had to figure out how to get out of the parking lot. D!ck

Yelp
On our way home, we saw a line at this donut shop and decided to pick up some to try. We asked the guy working to give us their most popular ones. We enjoyed their pillow, which was like a croissant and donut combined. Their cake donuts were surprisingly not dry like most places and super good too! My toddlers loved the smores donut with the marshmallows on top. We found all the donuts very fresh, soft, and super yummy. It was pretty sweet, but all donut shops are usually very sweet for me. Great service and delicious donuts! We were so glad that we decided to stop when we saw the line.

Yelp
I wish I hadn't found Peterson's Donut Corner. It's all I dream about now... It's too good to not visit for a donut (or a dozen) when you're even remotely close to this area. There's so many choices available and their donuts and other treats are reasonably priced for the quality, taste, size, and value they deliver. Parking is tough and I'm sure they get busy in the mornings, but it's absolutely worth the slight inconveniences.

O S.

Yelp
Donuts are still great but one of my favorite things was to get a donut and coffee. I've given feedback to the new owner Mr. Arabo and left a comment but on Yelp regarding the coffee cups and lids. Now the issue is the sleeves fall off exposing you to the hot coffee. My suggestion - go back to the old cups and lids pls! DART coffee cups and lids. Promise you it's worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Just went here literally 30 minutes ago for my usual order..cake donut holes...and I've done this about 40 times since I've been coming here. Always pick them up for my guys at work. It's been two trips in a row that they have short changed me on the quantity and they have also given me regular donut holes I read of cake....but they have charged me for the cake. It's so disappointing...I am thinking that I will not go any more....today the lady who helped me even said back to me what I had said to her..."all cake" she said....Yes thank you...then I get to work to find all the glazed ate the more inexpensive type. No cool at all. They were nice each time but took advantage of me two visits in a row. It's sad...I'm was a regular until today. I'm done.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're wondering if this place is worth the stop the answer is yes. Pillows are awesome and are a must order and you CANT skip the buttermilk bar. It's SO rich like can only have a fee bites but they will be the tastiest bites you've had in a while. Will always stop on my way to SD. Service is so fast, spot is unassuming and casual.
google avatar

Bonnie Y.

Yelp
I used to come here every weekend when i lived close by. This is my first visit after the change of management. The price has increased but the donuts are still on point. Apple fritter is my absolute favorite! You have to try it. It's also nice to have other payment options other than cash.
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
These donuts are huge! We loved the pillows the most. The twists were massive and the dough was soft and baked perfectly. I wasn't a fan of their cake donuts. That's just me. I'd stick with a yeast/raised donut here.
google avatar

Chrissie O.

Yelp
Been coming here for years but I stopped going close to the time they changed management. Just never had the chance to go again. Been craving donuts recently and I decided to go back. From what I noticed, I don't see the big crowds it used to bring. The prices went up! I got 2 dozen donut holes and like 5 donuts and it was $32. I thought I didn't pick that many and the donut holes were $8 for a dozen which is ridiculous. The girl helping was nice and explained what some of the donuts were that I haven't tried. I honestly didn't like the ones I decided to try. One had cream cheese in the donut and I felt the cream cheese was on there too long where it tasted like a jelly and old on the donut. The other she said was some cheesecake filling. Sounded good but had no taste. I was satisfied with the usual glazed donut and donut holes. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

Yelp
I have been coming to Peterson's for over a decade. I know there are some that go crazy for some of their donuts, but I just don't think that they are that amazing. Good, yes, but come from the far corners of the earth? Nah... When I do come to Petersons (those late hours are nice when you have the sweet tooth itch), I do like the Butterlogs and Bear Claws. Staff is always patient and helpful. Hopefully you come with then line is not too long... I know they went through a recent ownership change, but I feel as if they are still fairly unchanged. What has changed is that they have gotten fairly pricey over the past years. And while I know that is largely a product of our inflationary times, $28 for a box of 8 mixed donuts was a bit much. I prefer various other donut shops in North County where I can get a dozen for $15-18. Even if they are a bit smaller, I'll take the standard type donut
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
Quality donuts, friendly service, easy parking, fair pricing. They accept credit card. We went around 10am and the donuts were not hot. However you can request to get them warmed up. Mama sue: pistachio bits on white cream donut. It's not as sweet compared to the other donuts. It was more like pistachio on soft baguette texture. Glazed donuts: soft and sweet but not fluffy light. Pink sprinkle: classic pink donut. Pretty good.
google avatar

Kim C.

Yelp
This place used to be our favorite sinful delight! After last night not going back. I ordered a apple fritter and they gave me this dry ass donut that I threw away. My husband's pillow tasted like old grease! Super disappointed. Now we know why there hasn't been long lines. Actually never any lines. With the old owners that building always had long lines and DELICIOUS FRESH DONUTS! NOT ANYMORE Where's everyone else getting their donuts nowadays?
google avatar

Samuel A.

Yelp
BEST DONUTS in the Escondido area! If you are in the area it's a must stop place. They have a ton of options and the donuts are big! On vacation with wife and In-Laws and we all loved it!

Jason W.

Yelp
These are the best donuts I've found in SD County. Whenever my old boss brought them to the office, they were always a hit with the team.
google avatar

Eddie L.

Yelp
went around 5pm and there was no line! girl was super friendly. donuts were probs made that morning so they werent perfectly fresh but still 5 stars. its a cool outside spot and its well known in north county or all of sd!

Yelp
We were in town visiting a friend and stayed at his place after the baseball game at Petco Park. Couldn't help but do a double take and Yelp search when we saw a line at a donut shop during the evening. One look at Yelp and we knew we'd have to make a stop in the morning. Long line but worth the wait. Some of these donuts are huge. Double or triple the size of normal donuts. I would never be able to finish one on my own but they are great for sharing. We picked half a dozen of what looked most appealing, took them back to the house, and sliced them up for sharing. In addition to their ginormous donuts they have great iced coffee. We ordered French vanilla and caramel. Not too sweet and had great flavor. Friendly service. Everyone in line seemed happy to wait and that says something about an establishment. *Credit cards are not accepted. $0.95 charge to pay with a debit or atm card. They do accept Venmo though.
google avatar

Arielle C.

Yelp
This was THEE best donut I've ever had. I tried the maple pillow, cinnamon sugar pillow, and maple bacon pillow. The texture was like a soft and sweet croissant with a crunchy outer layer. My friends stopped by on a Thursday evening around 8pm and there was a long line. The bakers were still making donuts fresh on a week night. I would definitely come back to try other pillows and donut flavors.
google avatar

Eva G.

Yelp
What lured us in to drop by was the long line while passing by. We were curious and wondering how special these donuts were here in Escondido. Omgggg they were HUGE! I still have some after several days and still good. Lol I loved the classic apple fritter but my favorite was the "Pillow" donuts! They have different kinds, but I enjoyed trying the maple bacon pillow donut! So much yumminess when you bite into it!!! Great find in the area.
google avatar

Glen G.

Yelp
I always pass this place and decided it's time to try it after many years. Don't make this same mistake and just try them out. I've tried Randy's and I think Peterson's Donut Corner is so much better by selection and freshness. I've been missing out. I came by around 1pm thinking I'd get stale donuts like other places ,but that wasn't the case. They were adding fresh donuts on the racks. The cruellers and old fasioned were light, fluffy with a little crisp. Just perfect! On a sweet level the donuts were very sweet. Will be back for sure!
google avatar

Steve Y.

Yelp
I love it when we travel to Escondido. We get to enjoy the tasty treats from this local, family favorite long time landmark. How can you even just de use on one?
google avatar

Lily G.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this spot out upon hearing from it on tik tok. Driving about 3 hours to try this place in order to be faced with rude customer service. I couldn't ask a question withought having a rude and rushed response. She was inpatient with us and honestly didn't let me have memorable experience. We came at night where it wasn't that busy and when asking questions about what they had and what was popular we were talked to in a loud annoyed tone. The donuts were alright, I didn't get to keep going with my order due to the lack of interest in customer engagement. Not worth the drive unless you want to be treated with disrespect.
google avatar

Kayiona G.

Yelp
The glazed pillow is the absolute best donut that I have ever tried. It is huge and I like all the layers of the crispy croissant donut.
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Seems like Southern California is the place to get some of the best donuts around. So I figured I would try out Peterson's to see what all the hype was about. There are over 100 different varieties of donuts and flavors here. It's almost overwhelming. They only make so many donuts per day so you may not get your donut if you arrive too late. We ending up getting an apple fritter, blueberry cheesecake, maple glazed, chocolate glazed, cinnamon crumble, and plain old fashioned. The donuts are above average but honestly not the best I've ever had. My favorite were the cinnamon crumble and chocolate glaze. The cashier was pretty annoyed because I didn't know exactly what I wanted and she seemed like she was having a bad morning. Kind of weird because usually great food places have great customer service.

Niki A.

Yelp
My all time donuts and cronut place. A family must to kick start birthday celebrations....
google avatar

Angela E.

Yelp
We moved to Escondido from the College Area down south and heard good things about this shop. I am convinced that the people raving have either: not had an actual good donut shop donut, somehow think high $$ equals good donuts, are hypnotized by the overly huge donut sizes or are just operating on nostalgia. My husband and I were not impressed. The quality, price, service and soul is just not there. I'm gathering from the recent & numerous one star reviews that there has been a change in ownership. Maybe at one point in time, Peterson's was good but I'll drive all the way back down south to KD's or Donuts Plus.

Chelsea H.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE!!! While my family and I were shopping at Harbor freight two of Petersons employees decided to make a scene at the store and cut everyone in line for a refund because he had to wait 5 minutes for someone to help load out the generator they bought and was screaming profanities at the manager (mind you the only two people available was a young cashier and the manager who is obviously pregnant). So freaking embarrassing! If you're going to cause trouble at least make sure you're not wearing your work shirt! Absolutely disgusting behavior ! Will never buy donuts from here again and l'll make sure to pass the word along! Yelp keeps deleting this review or the owners are flagging it ! I will continue to post it until they make it right and apologize to that poor manager !
google avatar

Noriko C.

Yelp
If you haven't tried this place then now is the time! Thanks to my husbands coworker for introducing us to this donut establishment. Open 24 hours and pretty much every time we have gone there was a line. Bring cash or take a small fee on your debit card...those are the only excepted payments here. So many great choices of donuts to choose from. They are displayed all around the shop but if you are by yourself then kinda hard to go look since you will lose your place out of line. Peterson pillows are the most popular. They come in all sorts of flavor's. Then you have the glazed log! Yummy! Yummy! U can't go wrong with any of the donuts. Parking can be nuts when it is busy
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with Peterson's. Morning time is when everything is premium, and their choices are so vast and delicious! If you're in Escondido, get yourself over here for some donut amazingness!
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Horrible service. I didn't catch the name of the girl who helped me but she was so rude. I ordered a donut and she walked away really fast before I could order anything else. I asked for a second donut, she's visibly annoyed with me at that point but walked away before I could order more. And for the third and she responded with, "anything else?" With an attitude. When I came to the car I saw that she smushed the donuts so I don't even know how I'm supposed to even eat it. People are traveling pretty far to get Petersons, celebrating something with donuts from Petersons, or getting a donut to cheer them up from Petersons. It doesn't take much to show a little kindness.
google avatar

Jonne J.

Yelp
My friend order a variety of donuts, can't say what each one was but the donuts were delicious. I heard there was a lot of hype behind this donut shop and it did not disappoint.
google avatar

Joe J.

Yelp
Always a line but moves pretty fast. It's not the best doughnut shop I have ever visited though I have to admit that the portions are HUGE as it relates to doughnuts. Which leads to the price. They are not the cheapest around. Still, I would/will return more for a treat than a go to spot.
google avatar

Jennifer E.

Yelp
Still the best donuts in town! So many options to choose from and they're open late. The peach walnut muffins are our favorite and I can't resist the maple bacon bar. Donuts are always fresh and they always have friendly service. Had to bring our out of town guests here for a treat and they absolutely loved it!
google avatar

Aryan Y.

Yelp
Customer service unfortunately is lowest to the low here. Be careful when ordering, they will give you donuts which you didn't order here and WONT refund you once received. Please check box before leaving window. Came in on June 2 and ordered a box of donuts with glazed donut holes. Walked away to realized once opening the box they gave me sprinkled donut holes a dozen to be exact, which I didn't order (receipt says other wise). They only had one window open and a line outside, so I called them only to be treated rudely and told "there's nothing they can do and it's my fault for walking away with donuts I did NOT order, too bad. As a customer for years!! I'm appalled and very disappointed with Petersons donuts.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
This used to be our favorite place for a treat. My wife grew up in Esco and loved this place. But it's gone way downhill. The donuts aren't as good - kinda dry now and some of the topping were stale. But worst of all is they are trying to make themselves into a gourmet donut shop now. So they add some cereal to the topping and charge $4 for a donut. It's unbelievably expensive for an average donut. It's time to find someplace new for me.
