The Best Fun Date-Night Spots in Houston | Eater Houston

"Head to Pete’s and get ready to sing your heart out. Stop at the lively bar for one of around a dozen flavored shots, a beer, or a cocktail, and then head toward the main stage where talented musicians belt out hit songs while splitting their time between two baby grand pianos and a host of other instruments. By the end of the night, it’ll be hard not to sing along, especially if you make a special request." - Brittany Britto Garley

High-Energy Fun and Fantastic Entertainment! Pete's Dueling Piano Bar is an absolute blast! The $15 entry fee is totally worth it for the night of non-stop live entertainment you get. The performers are incredibly talented, hilarious, and super engaging—they really know how to work the crowd and keep the energy high all night long. Whether you're into classics, pop, rock, or just want to sing along and laugh, there's something for everyone. The food and drink options were solid too—plenty of variety and everything we ordered came out quickly and tasted great. The staff was friendly, upbeat, and added to the fun vibe of the place. Perfect for a night out with friends, birthdays, or just when you want something different from the usual bar scene. If you're in downtown Houston and looking for a lively, unforgettable evening, Pete’s is the place to be! 🎶 Great music 🍹 Good food and drinks 😂 Lots of laughs 🔥 Energetic atmosphere Highly recommended for anyone who loves live music and a good time!

This is the place to be entertained! But come here knowing that you are part of the entertaining. Our group had rented Pete's for the night and it was absolutely awesome. The staff was so very kind and attentive. The food was delicious and so were the drinks. A big thanks to all the staff that helped make our experience as great as it was.

Google
Took the wifey for her birthday and she had a blast. Ellie, our waitress, was awesome! The staff is fun. The performers are super talented. Highly recommend this spot. Fair warning, if you're thirsty you will "pay" for it.

Google
So much fun!! We went on a Thursday night and it was a blast. They were great about playing requests and really interacted with the audience...bringing people up on stage to dance... The bartenders and waitstaff were friendly and fast. Fyi...they don't have food, but plenty of places in the area to eat before you stop.

Google
Incredible night singing and dancing at Pete's! We had a blast celebrating my birthday. So many other celebrations that night and a fun atmosphere to enjoy with others around you as well. The entertainment was spectacular; talented, hilarious, and friendly. Definitely will be returning.

This was our first visit to the Houston location, but it will not be our last. Bring your friends out for a fantastic evening. The show is great, but I started to realize how old I'm getting because I did not know several songs they played. Still, the guys on piano are a ton of fun. Parking is convenient with a garage across the street. The drink prices are a bit high, but the tickets are not bad at all, and they don't mind bringing you water either. They do not serve food, but will let you have food delivered from outside sources.

Google
Definitely a vibe. Can't go wrong with a good ol piano bar experience.. or can you ? Well my experience was a mixed bag. Starting with the over priced drinks which seemed to be more sugar than alcohol. They do offer free water towards the end of the night should you have managed enough alcohol to form a buzz. Some of the managers are quite pushy and have expectations for certain designated areas to stand or sit. However due to the place being crowded and limited with standing spaces good luck with having a comfortable amount of breathing room to sit down or even hold your drinks without being bumped into and potentially spilling your sugar water (alcohol). Recommend to get there earlier if you want a place to sit if you haven't purchased or reserved a table. Ending on a positive..Musicians were great!

This place was a blast! We sang, we had some good drinks, we had so much fun. If you want to listen to some great performers while spending quality time with your friends, come here! Most people were in their 30+ but me and my friends are all in their 20s and had an awesome time too☺️

Yelp
We had a blast at Pete's last night after the concert! Easily one of the most fun bars i've been to. Our server was fantastic & attentive. The drinks were so cute & the jell-o shots were TASTY! We will come again!

Yelp
3.5 stars A super fun venue Service was excellent My only negative was, more songs and less silliness Been to dueling pianos before, they were great, lots of music and none of having people come on stage a wiggle boobs and butts More songs please Drinks were good, no food, but you can order and have it delivered

Yelp
After you buy tickets, you can walk in to the stage bar area. There is around 40-70 people worth of seating around the stage with the two pianos in the middle. I can see it getting pretty packed and hard to see if you are located in the back. I would recommend trying to book a table in advance. I'd you aren't centered you miss out on one side versus the other. I would recommend this spot if you like music and just casually want to get drinks. And regardless of where you are sitting you will be able to hear the music. Very cute date night spot! It can get kinda loud inside, and I would recommend you brush up on your American classics from the 90's etc. Although I could recognize some of the songs, I didn't know them well enough to sing the lyrics - which is half the fun. It is a lot of fun. Otherwise, a waitress / waiter comes around to take your drink orders. It was kinda sporadic so try to get them when you can. The drink menu had all the typical cocktails, beers, etc.

Yelp
We had a great night at Pete's. I have been to Pete's a few times throughout the years and not much has changed. Grab a group (and some cash) and start making requests! Drinks were alright. Some better than others. But the fun ones are always, well, fun! You can have a drink in a cup, in a cooler cup, even a bathtub. If you're lucky, you will find a little rubber duck joining in. I would love to see them bringing the song choice closer to the modern late 30s-40s crowd as my group was a little left out sometimes. We will always be back!
google avatar

Yelp
So. Much. Fun! Plan ahead and reserve your table. There's a fee now to do that. You must arrive by your stated time or they may give your table(s) away, FYI. Bring ID to get in at the door and they'll seat you. Waitress comes to you for drink order. Sit back and enjoy singing to the music OR put in a request with some money and they might play your song.

Yelp
I went to Pete's in downtown for a friend's birthday - it was the perfect place to celebrate! The bar was packed - so be sure to come early or make arrangements table reservation far in advance! We spent hours singing along with the crowd to the songs. The drinks are creative and there are 2 large bars on either side of the room. The piano players were very engaging and entertaining - there were many opportunities throughout the night for crowd involvement. I'd definitely recommend going for any birthday, bachelorette, or other special celebration.

Yelp
This place gave me a night of wonderful entertainment and lively vibes. I Stopped in after a concert in the Toyota Center. From the moment you step through the doors, you're greeted with the infectious energy of this iconic establishment, where music, laughter, and camaraderie converge to create an electrifying atmosphere unlike any other. The concept is simple yet brilliant: two pianos, two incredibly talented musicians, and a playlist that spans generations and genres. Whether you're into classic rock, pop hits, or sing-along anthems, the pianists at Pete's are masters at reading the crowd and delivering a show-stopping performance that will have you tapping your feet and belting out your favorite tunes all night long. The ambiance at Pete's is vibrant and inviting, with its lively decor, comfortable seating, and spacious dance floor beckoning you to let loose and make memories. Whether you're seated up close to the action at the piano or enjoying the view from afar, every seat in the house offers a front-row experience to the excitement unfolding before your eyes. But the magic of Pete's goes beyond the music; it's the sense of just hanging with old friends and the camaraderie that sets this place apart. Here, strangers become friends as they gather around the pianos, sharing laughs, toasts, and even the occasional dance. It's the kind of place where inhibitions melt away, and inhibitions are left at the door, making it the perfect destination for a memorable night out with friends or a lively celebration with colleagues. And let's not forget about the drinks! Pete's offers an extensive selection of cocktails, beers, and spirits to keep the party going all night long. Whether you're sipping on a classic martini or indulging in one of their signature drinks, each is expertly crafted and served with a smile by the friendly bartenders who keep the spirits flowing and the good times rolling. Pete's Dueling Piano Bar is more than just a nightlife destination; it's an experience. With its unbeatable entertainment, lively atmosphere, and welcoming vibe, it's the kind of place where every night feels like a celebration. So grab your friends, request your favorite song, and get ready for a night of music, laughter. Get your party on.

Yelp
First time visiting this location and it was a blast just like their other locations! Chuy's catered the foot which was perfect and considering they had a full venue that night the servers were quick to bring drinks. Excellent service and fun times!

Yelp
This place was super fun and the musicians are so talented. They play a constant medley of songs and do some fun activities with patrons throughout the night. The drinks here are so yummy and the shots are delicious as well. Drinks come out fast and the waiters/waitresses that go around the tables are so quick. Overall, a great experience, highly recommend.

Yelp
Went here for the first time by myself & I enjoyed myself. Came in on a Friday night as they opened at 7. As I walked in, I was greeted and I had my choice to sit on a stool at the perimeter of the stage area. All seats were great, Friday night admission fee was $13. The person who sat me as well as the waitress asked if I've ever been there and knew what to expect. Basically you can write down a song for them to sing, include a tip (the higher the better chance of them doing it). It's a perfect spot for a group, bdays, anniversaries or any kind of special occasion. They don't serve food here, but I did see people being in pizza. Waitresses always made sure to check on you and the drinks were strong and tasty. Show was awesome, I had a really good time, if you never been, do go. I just walked here from my hotel, being in downtown there's nearby parking garages to go to.

Yelp
Visited to celebrate a night out with siblings. I wish I would have known that you have to reserve a table ahead of time if you want a seat. There is also a cover charge. The music itself is wonderful. Quite entertaining. Drinks were good. Service was quick.
google avatar

Shannon L.

Yelp
Fun place to go with a group that wants to cut up and sing. Very interactive. Drinks were cold but weak.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
Great entertainment, especially for special occasions like a birthday, an anniversary, etc. The musicians are multitalented, going from singing and piano playing, drums, and guitar playing. Drinks only and they are a bit pricey. However it is reasonable for a special occasion.
google avatar

Patricia A.

Yelp
No food is served at this location that I know of, so make sure you eat before you come. Waitress staff was great and very helpful. They always came around and asked if we needed anything. Ambiance was fun and inviting! Great time with friends.

Bailey B.

Yelp
Warning- this place scams people! I held my birthday party here in December. After tipping to get a song onstage to commemorate my 10 years since my last birthday there, they ignored my request. 3 manager visits later and after being told "it'll come soon you're just about next" I left in tears after all my party left. We spent well over $300 in drinks all together and over $100 tipping for sings only to be denied the one thing I came there for. I spoke to the owner/manager the next few days after and he promised me a complementary song to make up for it in January. Here we are in March! Poor management. Scammers. And liars. Beware!
google avatar

Terri S.

Yelp
Great time for all! Regardless of age this place is a really good time! Drinks are cold and strong although the service isn't as frequent as I'd like! Music was epic--amazing musicians!!
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
This was a really fun place especially with a group. The performers were very interactive with the crowd and kept the sprits high. The drinks were and bar service was also great. Cover was $16 per person. I recommend bringing your family for friend group for a night out.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the perfect example of "everything's bigger in Texas". The venue and crowd were enormous, with two bars (one on each side), some tables and seating at the center in front of the stage (probably reserved for bigger parties, or you have to come super early), and standing room only otherwise. But bigger isn't always better. During the performance, there was more talking by the pianists than what was needed to put on a good show. Though some of it was entertaining, it put a pause on the music that sort of seemed carried away at times. And I'm all about the music, so this was kind of a turn off. But we still had a great time. The musicians were crazy energetic, dancing on the pianos, lots of commentary and teasing people to entertain the audience, and calling people onto stage (ie. a couple celebrating their anniversary, and even what looked like a bachelorette party made up of senior citizens!?!). But they kept the crowd engaged the entire time, laughing and singing along to the music throughout the night. The music was diverse, including songs like Hey Ya! by OutKast and a mashup of Livin on a Prayer/Summer of 69, which was pretty cool. Also the pianists played multiple instruments while on stage including drums and guitar, so the show here definitely includes a lot more than I've seen at other similar venues in Cali or Vegas. Pete's is a bit hard to find. Our uber driver dropped us off at the Palm restaurant, and we were lost and confused for a good minute. There's an elevator hidden between the buildings (around the corner from the Palm restaurant), and the venue entrance is on the third floor. There's a $12.99 cover on Saturday nights (they accept both cash and credit card). They also offer a wide range of specialty cocktails on their menu at the bar (fruity drinks like Mexican Candy and Strawberry Gush, coffee alcoholic beverages, and shots!), but the drinks are pretty weak overall. Service was standard. This place isn't perfect, but we had a fun time in this lively atmosphere regardless. It's hard not to, with dueling pianos (unless you hate music!?!).

Yelp
What an amazing find in Downtown Houston. I came here with coworkers on a Wednesday evening and there was surprisingly a lot of people. Four performers were rotating instruments and sometimes they even played as a band, like for Bohemian Rhapsody, where somebody tipped a $20 with the song request. I was really impressed by the performers. They were funny, engaging, and very talented. I would definitely go again! We didn't have any food there but the drinks were reasonably priced.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh Pete, whoever you are.. AMAZING job at creating this place. We were having a ball before we ever made it inside. They open around 7(ish) and the employees are some jokesters. . Drinks were amazing. Employees were amazing. The bar itself was amazing. It was within walking distance from putt shack which was awesome also. We had such a great experience here as first timers. We will definitely be back. Total package at this place. Drinks, friendly faces, comedy, music, you name it, it's here.
google avatar

Hillary E.

Yelp
Had a great time for my first visit to Pete's! I had been to similar concepts before but never this particular location. Great entertainment and great crowd! There is a cover charge that's around ~$10 pp (for a Friday night).
google avatar

Morgan L.

Yelp
Pete's lively Houston dueling piano bar packs 'em in nightly for brilliant entertainment plus creative cocktails like no other bar in town. Talented pianists put on a rocking show of song battles and witty stage banter that have crowds singing at the top of their lungs. Drinks come crowned with tiny rubber ducks bobbing playfully on top of each colorful concoction. With Pete's vivacious flair plus fast, friendly service, it's a can't-miss spot for kicking evenings into high gear with bouncy live music and whimsical drinks to remember.
google avatar

Jenny M.

Yelp
This place sucks! Don't ever pay to request a song, they will never play it . We got here early and requested a song but they never played it. This is the third time it happened . I will never request a song again, I will go back, but no tips from me!
google avatar

Michon K.

Yelp
Super fun great entertainment the service was amazing considering how packed it was. They served us buffet style Tex Mex because we were a group of 46. Entertainment was so good! They took requests and we danced a lot! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sarah Y.

Yelp
The guys that were playing the pianos were so talented! Definitely a great place for a date night. They take song requests and the drinks are great also
google avatar

Raya H.

Yelp
AMAZING PLACE!! Such a fun time for birthdays, celebrations, or bachelor/bachelorette parties. The musicians are so good and the place gets lit. Make sure you book you reservation in advance! You don't necessarily need table service for a large party but seating wouldn't be guaranteed so keep that in mind
google avatar

Kim W.

Yelp
If you are in Houston you have to make time to check this place out. SO MUCH FUN!!!! $10 cover on a Friday and if you want to assure a table make a reservation. No food but well stocked bar. The signature drink the Lucky Duck is $$$ but SO GOOD and save room for a Jell-O shot in a syringe. The players are fabulous and the crowd has the best vibe. Absolutely must see for any trip to Houston.
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
I like these type of places the vibe and atmosphere is always good. Food selection is standard bar food and the service can be hit or miss especially with the amount of people. It will be packed on the weekends! Enjoy
google avatar

Aram K.

Yelp
We were staying in Houston for a month and absolutely loved Pete's dueling piano bar. Unlike many other piano bars we've been to this one was very interactive with the audience. They played great music, took requests and always made things fun
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
I came here with some work friends to celebrate a birthday. here's my honest review. The piano players were awesome the performance was bomb! My waitress was great! i ordered four shots of tequila I signed for a tab which said $16.17 and ended up with a $73 Dollar bill. I hit my crew up first to see if someone didn't pay, they all said they did but somehow I ended up with the large bill. I tried calling they never answered the phone so that was a bit of a disappointment. I enjoyed my time with my people, and the performance over all. I tagged a few videos/pictures and I noticed they have a very "consistent" type of people in the photos they post. I guess I'm not the type they post. As far as the huge bill? Just makes Me wonder how many times this happens to unsuspecting people in their bar, and how many times they've gotten away with it. Like i said I had fun. The bill situation sucks but I did enjoy my time. If I go again, Im taking cash and I'm definitely not tagging or reposting them.

Yelp
This place was awesome. Definitely enjoyable night and all of the staff was super nice, especially the guy who sat us, he was very funny while being very professional, an impressive skill. I didn't know what to expect when my friends dragged me here, but I am very glad they did! We ordered pizza that was delivered, it was alright. We ordered the large which was comically huge.

Janette C.

Yelp
Great place overall. Great drinks, fast service and great music and vibe. Definitely a place if you like to sing out loud to all your favorite music. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because I paid 40 bucks for a song that never got played after 3 hours! I also feel that there is a specific type of music they play so anything outside of that won't be considered, which is fine but RETURN MY MONEY! Other than that I had fun.
google avatar

Jordan J.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday with a group of 18! The reservation was right and we were sat right up front. Everything was great from the service to the music. The MUSIC especially was phenomenal. The talent of the band was a pleasure to watch and they included the crowd on every song. I was never not entertained. The service was also great. Despite a FULL house we never waited long for a drink and the waitress was attentive and prompt. Not only will I be back but we highly recommend this place for anyone celebrating anything!

E K.

Yelp
Went for a date night. It was so much fun and so entertaining. Cocktail service was great. Food not served but can order a pizza to be delivered.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Fun spot for a celebration. If you want to drink, sing, and even dance a little this is the place for you. Musicians are all incredible, with an endless repertoire and equally endless talent. Fun times!

Grace R.

Yelp
Great vibe for any occasion. Drink menu was great, lots of options for those who really feel like celebrating and those who are the designated driver. Staff was attentive and very friendly.
google avatar

Gabrielle M.

Yelp
This bar is walking distance from a lot of downtown hotels. Super cool environment and music. The musicians are very talented at impromptu tunes and goes with flow from the audience's requests. The drinks and shots were sweet (that's how I like them). This was my first dueling piano experience and I definitely enjoyed it!
google avatar

Komal K.

Yelp
I don't know why this place gets bad reviews. It's so much fun!! The first time I visited Pete's piano bar was over 3 years ago in Addison. Fast forward 3 years, we're in Houston for work and find Pete's on yelp. Now I've reminisced about Pete for the last 3 years and I wasn't going to let this chance to revisit it get away. We got here at 10 pm on Friday and the place was full!! The musicians here know how to make you have a good time. If you're a fake feminist who cannot take humor against women, then this place is not for you. If you're a Puritan who thinks some things should not be said in public, this place is definitely not for you. Come here if you're mature enough to take some good humored songs and banter. It's worth it.
google avatar

Nini G.

Yelp
This was my favorite place I've been to in a long time! Had the best time for my birthday celebration. The entertainment was the best! Definitely coming back here again!
google avatar

Arlene M.

Yelp
Service was good, drinks were good and a very fun and festive atmosphere. I was there with a group of 30 for a birthday party and everyone had a great time.

Letha I.

Yelp
It's hard to describe how much fun we had!!! We laughed, we sang and we made friends along the way! Such a wonderful place to celebrate our birthdays! The ambiance was electrifying! The staff was friendly, professional and prompt with our drink orders! The manager was wonderful and made sure we had a great time! He's pictured with us in the photo! We'll certainly be back!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Paid $20 asking to play a song and call my wife up, wrote it on the paper and told both piano players , man and red head female , never called her up and when asked about it just claimed ignorance.
google avatar

RoseMarie J.

Yelp
We were celebrating a birthday & Pete's was the perfect place. The two dueling musicians were outstanding & interacted with the audience almost exactly the same as always. Patrons were limited & could not approach the musicians which was fine with us as we enjoyed being at a larger table off to the side where we were able to participate & enjoy the show while keeping our distance from the larger floor. We purchased our own drinks at the bar & felt very comfortable all evening. I'd have no reservations recommending Pete's for small celebrations. I really appreciated the reduced number of patrons which allowed us to have tons of fun while maintaining our distance from others that were not in our party of 6. Employees wore masks, hand sanitizer was available everywhere. Management did a great job mitigating COVID-19 risk & concerns.
google avatar

Chayan W.

Yelp
This is the first Piano Bar I have ever been to, and ALL the musicians are great, place is VERY clean, servers are great and Bartenders are AMAZING. The drinks are a little pricey, but it's because they are perfectly made! (About 11$ for a mule, about 6.50 for a beer) I would give this place 5 stars, but the music they play is for a slightly older generation. I am 24 and I know all the songs they play, but I requested a Barns Courtney song (fire) that they didn't know. I also requested an Outkast song (the way you move), and they played the wrong one, and this was after they already played a just as popular outkast song. I didn't know what songs to request because I don't know if they would play what I want.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Okay, so for the maybe not so good first. This place fills up, so please make a reservation first. Also there is a cover charge of $10 per person. Was the very first person to give the pianist a request. Only tipped them $5 to start.... Never played the song. Then gave two more requests with a $10 each tip and never acknowledged or played those songs either. Unless you tip $20 or more..... Forget any requests. It is upstairs and so if you are not familiar with this city, can be confusing. Now for the good. This place is really a lot of fun. You will laugh, and see other get up and dance and yes, SING. Went in May and even with some people still afraid of Covid...... You could sing. Staff was super friendly and you don't feel pressure to constantly buy food and drink while you are at your table.
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
WOW this place is pretty awesome. If you are looking for fun then this is the place to go. So came here with a group of coworkers. Admission/coverage fee to get in is $10. Inside drinks are sold separately depending on what you want. I had lots of fun. There are two duel piano player/singer. They are pretty good. Really know how to get the crowd going. The music they were playing are very entertaining and yes its popular music too. The place is quite big so you can also dance to music. But in the center there are lot of table and chairs. Most people in the center are sitting down. Its just a place to have fun and enjoy the night. Also they open late till 2am on a Saturday night.
google avatar

Kelli C.

Yelp
I've been to this specific Pete's Dueling Piano bar twice in the last year. I've also been to similar dueling piano bars in San Antonio, Austin and Las Vegas in the last year (it's our go-to). We always have fun but there were definite pros and cons. The cover is $10, and there was available seating beyond the reserved seating. The drinks were good and the place was clean. The whole room being a giant chalkboard is fun. The waitstaff was fast, smart and friendly. The skill of the singers varied greatly. The woman knew her songs, played a variety of instruments with skill and sings like a rockstar. The fiddle playing guy is great with his fiddle but when he sings he messes with the tempo so much it's really hard to follow. The male singers did not know the words to several of the songs they tried to sing and completely ruined a couple common songs. The raunchy songs were creative but took way too much time away from the requests and sing along songs. We paid $20 for a request (Common Brittany Spears song) but it was never played.

Kimberly J.

Yelp
I went here with my coworkers and it was a super fun atmosphere. Everyone participated and had great energy.
google avatar

Madelyn D.

Yelp
This place was so fun and cool! The drinks weren't too pricey, and there's a lot of seating. The only downside is that it is insanely cold in there.
