Had a great time tonight, went for a birthday party to surprise the birthday girl, we weren't 100% sure they were there, walked in, the bouncer said it was a $15 dollar cover, we were like we may be in and out, we don't know, so he waved us in, we were like, oh ok, thanks. We found the party, great to see everyone, had a drink bought, then bought some rounds, fun time listening to the band, you know what to expect at a dueling piano bar, fun nonetheless. Server was great. Most of the party then left, had another drink with my remaining friend, taking and catching up, until...the same bouncer comes up to us, bar is pretty empty at this point, and in a demeaning and demoralizing manner, says to us "do you remember what you told me?' you were only supposed to be in and out and you're still here! You didn't pay the cover, you should pay it, it's the right thing to do, like I was trying to steal something from them.
I was dumbfounded because I never thought twice about it, and was more like we may have misunderstood his wave in. I said I will pay it right now, fine. After paying my tab I walked to the front so he could ring me up, for 12 dollars and not 15. I told him he should have came up to me 2 hours ago so I didn't spend over 100 dollars on drinks, he kept saying but it's the right thing to do like I was an immortal person. I said you should do your job! I said I never want to be accused of not paying my bill, he said the other person who left didn't pay either, I said ring it up, I'll pay that too! That's when I called for the manager. She was wonderful, very nice, understood the situation, tried to make it right, I said it's not about the money, I said I have never had this happen to me before, ever. She apologized and wanted to offer a discount or something, I said no thank you.
I was absolutely incensed and needless to say I won't be going back. Customer service still goes a long way, too bad a lot of people don't have that skill any longer. #hirebetter
