Where to Get the Best Breakfast in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Originally the first location of local chain Patty’s Eggnest, this diner changed its name after being sold to Pete and Voula Sideris decades ago. There are Greek items on the menu but you can’t go wrong with the diner classics, like the elegantly light pancakes or the corned beef hash. On the weekends, parking is hard to find and the small dining room it fills up fast — everyone wants that Saturday morning diner feeling, and that’s exactly what Pete’s, nee Patty’s, delivers." - Harry Cheadle

I’m on a business trip in Seattle and stopped by Pete’s Eggnest for breakfast. The Swedish pancakes I ordered were delicious! The interior and atmosphere of the restaurant were great, and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended!

Emma Cunningham

Google
This place is awesome! Gives such a cozy family style restaurant feel. Prices are incredibly reasonable for how much food you get. Mexican breakfast was so good! Parking was very easy and the service was excellent.

Google
The ownership may have changed but the quality of food and friendliness has not. Fabulous breakfast... Best Chicken Fried Steak I've had in awhile with excellent potatoes. The coffee is top notch and overflowing. And I appreciate the kind staff who are quick to boot. The only tricky part is parking, but Pete's is with the trouble.

Google
Pete's Eggnest is a regular and usually great spot for us. However, my latest visit was a letdown due to the service. When ordering scrambled eggs with ham (no cheese) for my friend, the waitress's tone felt condescending. We also experienced slow service, even though it wasn't a busy day, and an uncomfortable stare when leaving a tip. This was a disappointing experience compared to our usual positive visits.

Google
Food was great. When we arrived, there were a few small parties ahead of us. They prepared for a large party that arrived after us, before we were seated (not great). We got the breakfast burrito, Swedish pancakes, and a special (Elvis pancakes)—all were delicious. We got coffee, strawberry lemonade, and chai latte (special). The chai was literally a glass of milk with a splash of chai—we asked for more chai and had to mix the drink ourselves.

Google
Pete’s Eggnest was amazing! Loved it so much everything was delightful and the banana bread was to die for. Can’t wait to go back! 🥞🍌💛

Google
There were MOLD on our food! Food taste ok, presented nicely. But the service, oh boi, only a half-hearted apology, no resolution, no making up or concern for customer’s health safety. I would avoid.

I am a breakfast lover and this place has wonderful options for breakfast. My friend and I tried Brisket Benedict and avocado toast and both were great. Definitely will be back again.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! Pretty small space, but came here on a Saturday around 1 pm and had no problem getting a seat up at the counter top. Service: food came out super quick, servers were friendly, and my coffee cup was always full. Food: pretty standard breakfast/diner food, but very good! Nothing crazy, but exactly what you would expect. Highly recommend the giant cinnamon roll - absolutely delicious.

Yelp
It's been a while, but we've always had good food when we went. Generally got breakfast food... Scrambles, pancakes, that type of thing. Food wasn't outstanding, but it was good. I remember the service was good too. And since so many breakfast joints have disappeared (including Patty's Eggsnest), I'm very glad that this one is still around!

Yelp
Small Town Breakfast in Greenwood One of the best breakfasts in Seattle Come here for a classic small town vibe in north Seattle. Sit at the counter and chat with the absolutely amazing and generous staff or enjoy the cozy dining room with fun and colorful chickens decorating throughout. Have a cup of coffee and enjoy your pick of delicious breakfast items. I recommend going early on weekends as the wait list can get long but the staff are fast and wait times are usually fairly short. Though you will probably have to wait outside as there isn't a lot of space inside the restaurant, so you might want to bring an umbrella or a jacket if it's a particularly drizzly day. The food is delicious and flavorful, everything you could want in a classic breakfast place. My wife loves their rotating French toast specials, she looks forward to the flavor of the day every time we go (her favorite is the raspberry). My go to order is the breakfast burrito and I personally think it's one of the best breakfast burritos in the city. The salsa is so delicious and garlicky. They also have excellent chicken fried steak with a rich and flavorful gravy and home made biscuits. I've only ever had one disappointing item here and it was a special breakfast croissant sandwich. It was just very plain and simple. I can't say enough about how excellent the staff are. They work so hard and do such a great job. They always make everyone feel welcome and taken care of. They make my family feel special every time we go and they remember us and our orders each visit. They truly are what makes this a restaurant I want to return to again and again. Also note it is street parking only, so parking can be limited, especially during weekends.

Yelp
I see why this place is popular. Way less grimy than your typically diners, big portions, reasonable price, and friendly staff. I tried the Nutella & strawberry French toast and the freshness was amazing. Wait time for 2 is about 25 min on a weekend morning. The place feels very homey and I'll definitely visit again in the near future.

Yelp
Food quality and value were quite good and the selection was huge. They had lots of options for vegetarians too. They were quite busy so there was a longer wait, but they were very attentive while we were waiting on food and eating with keeping water and coffee full. It's a busy little diner with very neighborly vibes!
google avatar

Nicolette R.

Yelp
Soooo good! Highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes. Quick to get the food and quick to get the bill. Perfect dive dinner energy too. 5 stars

Yelp
I had higher hopes based on other reviews/ amount of good reviews, and the 30 min wait with the line outside, clearly this place has a following. The best part was the service. Very lover servers/ hostess. The room is a little loud, but the place is PACKED. The food: to quote my son "it isn't bad, but it's just not that good." It was very average, and even the coffee was a little bitter. We won't be back, in town visiting friends.

Yelp
3.5 Stars Tucked away on Greenwood strip. Came for Sunday brunch. The food itself is just OKay taste and quality wise (great portion and presentation), but the warm staff and the homey diner like interior is on point. Biscuits and Gravy with Eggs ($13) - very salty, but decent biscuits and gravy. Seemed like it was made from scratch and eggs were perfectly cooked. BF got the waffles, bacon, and eggs combo ($15.50) and said it was fine.

Yelp
Visited for breakfast twice during our stay. It was pretty busy both times, so that days a lot about the business. As you'd expect from the name, eggs are the game here, however you like them, they'll do them. Great breakfast fare Coffee isn't too shabby either.

Yelp
This is a local cafe that I went for breakfast during a weekday, cozy ambiance. Had a "Bacon and Cheese Omelet". Service was very good and welcoming. My omelet was very tasty and filling. A good way to start out the day. For portion size I would say it was a good value for the money. No parking lot, only street parking. You can tell it's a local hit, they seem to get a lot of returning locals, the server seemed to know everyone. Traveling from out town and in the area decided to drop in, I was glad I did. You should too, you'll be glad you did. Oh ask about the special pancakes, I missed out. Guess I'll have to go back.

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfast spots in greenwood! Humble little cafe with fun Mexican inspired (and classic) breakfast items, cozy indoor seating, diner vibes. Big portions and reliably delicious food every time. They have fun mimosa flavors, albeit a bit pricy for drinks. But the food itself is average pricing, to-go containers are compostable. Note: largest table is a 4 top with a chair at the end which 5 fit comfortably, but 6 would be a stretch since the other end is against the wall for space purposes. Can't speak to whether they'd move tables, but they're pretty poppin on weekends so I wouldn't if I were them
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place!!! Amazing food, cozy setting, and very kind employees. There is usually a wait, especially on the weekends, but it went by quickly when we went. Their Swedish pancakes are definitely a must, and I was very pleased with their special egg scramble that had gyro meat, tzatziki, and a pita underneath! Perfect place to go for brunch.
google avatar

Yelp
OMG. Amazinggg brunch. This place is like a hidden gem. They always have delicious food with an amazing service. Totally recommend it for anyone who is looking for good food for brunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Such good food and service, have been coming here for years! Mexican Breakfast is a great alternative to the traditional American style breakfast.
google avatar

Seth L.

Yelp
Great breakfast options, but I found something I liked and stuck with it. If you like a little spicy I highly recommend getting the Migas, you won't regret it. The two times I went it on a Saturday and Monday morning it was pretty busy but the staff work fast and efficient so you won't be waiting for your food too long. We also got the lemon ricotta pancakes and the French toast on their special menu were both really flavorful and filling as well. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Ismael P.

Yelp
I was driving by the neighborhood and came across Pete's Egg Nest. It had good reviews, so decided to give it a try. Unfortunately food is average, blend flavors, and the quality of ingredients is so-so. I ordered the Swedish pancakes and veggies omelette and both were ordinary. Service was great and ambience was ok. A place that I would not get out of the way to try.
google avatar

Yelp
These people know how to cook food. Everything on the plate was made right and was very tasty and full of flavor; it's what you look for in a good restaurant. I used to work in the food industry and I'd recommend everyone in Seattle to try this place at least once. Well done, this is a jewel of the neighborhood.

Yelp
Awesomeness! The food was delicious and portion sizes were on point. There were seven of us and not one of us was disappointed with our meal. We ordered a few different scrambles, kids meals, and I ordered gluten-free French toast with some beautiful fresh fruit. Many of their dishes are naturally gluten-free, but I can't verify if they are celiac friendly. I have a moderate allergy and had no issues. We were met with friendly and accommodating staff, and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. This is an awesome place to bring your kids. I was so thankful to find this place that didn't feel uptight or cold; it was a breath of fresh air.

Irma P.

Yelp
I had the migas chilaquiles (spicy) and they were cooked perfectly and I had my eggs over medium instead of scrambled... delicious! The services was great as well very friendly and attentive. Love finding these hidden gems to eat at when I'm out of town!
google avatar

Vanessa R.

Yelp
A great classic breakfast joint, and the food was delicious. The staff was so sweet and accommodating, and it's a cute little place to sit and have breakfast. Small outdoor seating area as well! I didn't order alcohol but it looked like they had some breakfast booze options, and I would definitely return to come try some of their other options! I couldn't even pick which sounded best.

Kimberly G.

Yelp
Lovely little breakfast/brunch spot, we sat down and immediately were attended. Loved the fresh squeezed orange juice & our food was yummy. Our waitress constantly checked up on us making sure we were okay. We will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This is my second time coming here and I will have to say the price for the food you get is a SUPERB deal! We came during prime brunch time (which is when I went) you have to wait outside and the wait time wasn't bad, we only had to wait 15-20 min for a table. My boyfriend, our friends, and I sat and I ordered a coffee which btw someone walks around with a pot of fresh coffee and that's amazing cuz they always ask if you need refills haha We kept running out of water and kept asking the waitress to refill our cups. I ordered the breakfast burrito and when I got the breakfast burrito, it was filled, but not super full where everything is falling out and making a mess. The red sauce that come with the burrito gives it a very zesty taste (I also added some hot sauce). I thought it was very tasty ! My friend and boyfriend got the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs Breakfast and they are big boyz, they can eat a lot. Both where defeated by this dish and had to take it home so I guess all I can say is that it's a filling and delicious dish! The country fried steak is crispy, but the BEST was T H E G R A V Y The gravy makes it the chicken fried steak go from 10/10 to 100/10, for all you gravy lovers, def try this dish! My other friend got the bacon cheeseburger, great if you got pickey eaters because they put the pickles and tomatoes on the side. In addition this place also has a bus stop right outside, bus 5 so easy public transportation! I only have 1 complaint. The space is kind small and so is the space between tables and chairs, meaning you really gotta squish in there. Also I forgot to take a picture of their cinnamon roll, but you haaaave to get that if you come to Pete's Egg Nest. Not only is it ginormous at a good price, it tastes amazing and highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Such a nice and cozy place! Friendly staff, fast service. Highly recommend the chorizo eggs benedict - so yummy and never had anything like it. Prices are great too, will definitely be back!
google avatar

Celina S.

Yelp
A solid brunch, satisfying if you want a comforting and filling meal. The line was long, but we only had to wait 15 min. Ordered: - meat benedict, comes with three instead of the usual two. Plenty to share. - special smokey sausage scramble with a biscuit. Loved the jam that comes with. Wish the hasbrowns were a little more crispy but that's the only complaint!
google avatar

Michelle Z.

Yelp
My favorite brunch place! Their brunch specials are worth picking. Highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes (a generous amount of strawberries and blueberries with a dollop of lemon ricotta, and their pancakes are fluffy and buttery) and Aztec scramble (if available). Their eggs benedict is fantastic too; I was just more dazzled by their brunch specials. Came here on a Sat around ~2pm and it wasn't packed. No wait. Street parking was EZ PZ
google avatar

Yelp
Good spot for breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict, they were delicious. Service was really good. I recommend this place for sure.
google avatar

Karla B.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast spot because they're pretty much always open lol. Everything I've tried here food wise was pretty delicious except their steak and eggs - that was okay. What's fun is they have SPECIALS! They had a crab Benedict at one point which was delicious:) and they had a pumpkin pancake special at one point too which was a nice change in flavors. Overall nice experience and I keep on coming back:)
google avatar

Gulya M.

Yelp
Perfect brunch spot! Delicious food, yummy waffles and crepes. Excellent service, great ambiance. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Flew into Seattle from Texas, bright and early. Stopped at Pete's egg nest for some breakfast with the girlfriend. Diner style breakfast place, good taste! Crowded yet cozy. Everything was fresh and well seasoned.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
Great food with a super friendly staff. What is there not to like? There's even outdoor seating for those sunny days to bring your dogs.

Melissa L.

Yelp
This place is a little gem. Food was quite tasty and they got us in quickly even though it was super busy for brunch. Friendly staff. We got the crab Benedict, pumpkin pancakes, and mimosas. Everything was tasty but the 2 mimosas gave me a headache and my date an immediate nap. lol The place is plain but cozy. Will be back.

Yelp
Went to Pete's Egg Nest for an early Mother's Day breakfast. PEN is a cute little restaurant that sits along Greenwood Avenue. Parking can be difficult, but if you go early enough, you won't have a problem. We arrived around 8:30am and the restaurant was only about half full. It took a little bit of time to get our order submitted, which was a little puzzling because the restaurant was only half full, but we were willing to wait it out since the food was supposed to be fantastic. The restaurant filled up in the 20-30 minutes that we waited for our food, plus there were quite a few food pickups. I say all that to say that the key is getting to the restaurant early! The food was delicious. The portions are definitely worth the cost. The cost is comparable to most places in Seattle, but you get a lot more food. I got the bacon and egg scramble. It comes with hashbrowns and toast. Jam is provided as well if you'd like. My partner got the chicken fried steak scramble. He said, in between giant mouth fulls of food, that it was amazing. The restaurant is small, so the space is a little cramped, and it can get very loud, very quick, so if any of those things bother you, I suggest eating outside (they have a few tables) or getting a to-go order. All in all a good place for a hearty breakfast. We will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Joel U.

Yelp
Simple good food with friendly service. The meals are fresh and not too big that you are in food coma all day. Lots of choices for every diet and appetite.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Street parking was easy. It was packed on a Saturday around noon. Doesn't help that the inside is small to accommodate as many diners as possible. If you are concerned about COVID/physical distancing, I would recommend dining outside or taking your order to go. It took several minutes for anyone to greet us, then the waitress informed us to write our name down on the notebook in front. We waited 15- 20 minutes before we were seated at a 4 person table with an extra chair for our 5th member. Once we ordered, our food came out within 10 minutes. Portions were generous and fairly priced compared to other Seattle breakfast spots. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast, no complaints. Everything was good but nothing particularly spectacular. Pete's fits the bill if you are looking for a no fuss, hearty breakfast!
google avatar

Angie P.

Yelp
Family place with great food and excellent service. Everything we ordered fresh and tasty.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is like Denny's food. I've been here three times including today's visit. I went to restroom 7 times after I had breakfast here. Either their Chorizo or Artificial Strawberry Jam was bad. Chorizo was grey color, ground and their fruits were bad, especially strawberry. I always wondered why there's a line out the door every time l passed by. It's because there's not enough number of breakfast places near this place and this place is small! Quality wise, portage Bay is way better although each item is $3-4 higher. They have FRESH fruits and meat. ( strawberry Jam was not real and butter was margarine I think ...)
google avatar

Jess R.

Yelp
The service was amazing! I really loved the food, fresh and delicious breakfast. The environment is very welcoming and there are tables and a counter. We had omelettes and pancakes and everything was perfect!

Kirill S.

Yelp
Our favorite breakfast spot, the portions are good, the food is delicious and has good variety. I really liked the breakfast burrito and I ordered it after I already ate my main course because they walked by with it and it looked good. The waitresses are very nice, and always welcome you and will recognize you if you got there multiple times. They let you draw there, with the kids egg paper menu. :) I would continue to come here for the foreseeable future. The ambiance itself was good, very friendly warm wooden decorative interior, very homey, very breakfasty and clean

Leslie G.

Yelp
The menu is extensive- the food is well prepared-- service is attentive... delicious!!! Recommend highly
google avatar

Yelp
This small shop is in a nice neighborhood with not much signage out front. Very friendly and attentive staff. I stopped in early, just after opening and ordered the avocado toast. This comes with two poached eggs on top but I request scrambled. Everything was perfect! Fresh avocado, topped with scrambled eggs on whole grain toast. I will definitely be back for this during my trip!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
A classic, tight-spaced, breakfast-style restaurant. It's not quite worth going out of your way to visit, but it has everything you need and you can't go wrong. Nothing memorable, just basic, wholesome food.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Visited Pete's Egg Nest for an early breakfast on a Friday. We were seated quickly, and brought menus and water. The decor is homely and comfortable. It feels like you're eating in a kitchen at home. I ordered their breakfast burrito and my girlfriend got the egg and sausage platter. My hefty burrito was filled with scrambled eggs, cheese, avocado, and bacon. It came with salsa and sour cream, and it was filling and delicious. The hash browns it came with were delicious as well. Portions are generous, we were able to eat our leftovers after a long morning hike. Service was quick and friendly. Good spot for breakfast.
google avatar

Eddie J.

Yelp
Looking for a greasy spoon breakfast in the Greenwood area of Seattle? Then head over to Pete's Egg Nest! If you're craving old school hash browns, biscuits & gravy, or an omelette, this place is definitely worth the wait. Recommendations: 1) Breakfast on a Biscuit with scrambled eggs, topped with sausage gravy and cheddar cheese. 2) Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with biscuits and gravy. 3) Hobo Omelette with sausage links, mushrooms, onions, and cheddar.
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch and ordered "south of the border". Big disappointment it was, not the omelet, with folded eggs and filling that I expected, given that it was listed in the omelet section of the menu, instead it was scrambled eggs with ingredients mixed in. I call it the lazy cooks version of an omelet. Too many jalapeno peppers, overwhelming chorizo and a burnt eggs flavor, reduced the visit to a, hurry up and leave experience. The homemade cheese biscuits were dry without flavor and those boring hash browns turned out the best thing on the plate. The service was good, coffee just ok but the noise level had me shouting at my wife while she sat just 2 feet away. So much for experiencing new restaurants. Were headed back to Blue Star Cafe.
google avatar

Chimi Y.

Yelp
I love no frill greasy spoon breakfast spots and this one fits the bill! The only downside like most breakfast places is the wait. Arrived on a Saturday morning at 11:30 didn't leave the restaurant till 2pm. Ordered the Chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast. It was great! I like how big their chicken fried steak is and that it comes with 3 eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit (i opted for sourdough) for $13.95, that's cheaper than other places ive been to in the Seattle area. I always ask for my gravy on the side because I like to dip, however their gravy is very peppery and I am not a huge fan of it. The service was good and our waitress was nice. There were several times where we asked for things that were forgotten, however I think that's because we were at an outside spot. I would definitely return. I think the sweet time to go is around 1 pm since there was no line once we were seated around 12:30.
google avatar

Yelp
Pete's Egg Nest is one of my favorite places to get breakfast! My partner and I are regulars here, coming back almost every week. I love the Migas breakfast, and he usually gets the same (unless they have the Carnitas Benedict- which we also recommend!). Portion sizes are great for the price, and customer service is amazing. Staff are friendly, helpful, and enjoyable to be around. One of those places in town you can easily keep going back to, with reliable quality and a great overall environment.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
I'm at Pete's Egg Nest all the time. The service here is super friendly and the wait (even on a Sunday) is usually manageable and less than 30 minutes. They don't take reservations so plan accordingly. Love their hash browns, omelettes, and their lemon ricotta pancakes! Their portions are large so don't be surprised if you have breakfast for the next day as well

Bell H.

Yelp
having a bad day and thought some delicious crispy hashbrowns would help. Ill never know cause the hashbrowns were very bland and barely crispy :( also got pancakes delivered and the butter melted completely. Still having a bad day.

Yelp
Sad I miss the old owners. The vibe was quieter and the staff was friendlier. I had my waiter basically ignore me, and then go to the corner to talk all loud.
