Pete’s is the best fish market in New Jersey. We come here at least twice a month. The fish is always fresh, there is not one thing that we bought here that was not fantastic. Consistency is very important to us and this place is definitely consistent. The staff and the owner are so friendly and even know us by name. I recommend Pete’s to anyone who want to buy fresh fish. We did a seafood boil for the first time and it was amazing!

Great seafood store!!! Fresh crabs are full of meat, clams are sweet and crayfish ( when in season) awesome. I called ahead of time and my order is alway ready. I sometimes call a day or two ahead of time and reserve my order because everything is so good and fresh, it may sell out especially on holiday weekends. I have been going there for YEARS.

Visited for the first time reading good reviews, and I was happy to do good shopping here. I’ve got a pound of mussels, shrimps, and 4 oz of Tuna (Maguro), good for eating raw. I’ve sliced it up as Sashimi, using my Japanese steel blade. Yummy.

Highly recommend Pete's Fish Market. I'd been looking for a great, old school fish market and found it at last. I met the owner, Pete, and he couldn't have been nicer. The store was clean and not fishy smelling. I purchased flounder and it was fresh and delicious. Pete suggested his homemade Clam Soup and it was superb! Reasonable pricing also. If you are seafood lovers, definitely give Pete's Fish Market a try. You won't be disappointed.

So Im currently at Lyons VA Hospital (Disabled veteran). My friend Warren said to Aaron let's go get a fish sandwich from Pete's Fish Market. Never been there before. So I said great let's go. OMG, the best fish 🐟 sandwich in long time. Im definitely going back to get a fish sandwich and more 😋. The customer service was second to none. You guys keep up the excellent hard work. Myself and my buddy Warren will definitely be back. We keep on Serving Even Out Of Uniform.

Pete's Fish Market offers a huge variety of fresh seafood at reasonable prices. They will also order what you want if they do not have it in stock. Pete and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and will take the time to answer questions. I highly recommend this seafood market.

Cut & Paste, that's essentially what I could do when writing about Pete's Fish Market in Plainfield. It seems in the past ten years I have written four previous times about this Plainfield treasure and it's still the best in Central Jersey. The fish are fresh and the varieties seem limitless, as each season brings specialties. For every day fare for folks with little time, the cooked fish dinners are a great option. We often buy the steamed crab legs, and have NEVER been disappointed with their seasoning and texture. There's nearby ample parking for a short walk vs the long trek in supermarket lots. As an extra bonus, right around the corner is the Plainfield Donut Shop, which makes best daily pasties in NJ.

The prices were reasonable which was good but the fish fried was a rip off compared to the fresh fish that I seen on ice for sale! If you know fish then you know porgies are meaty! While I brought mi husband a porgies dinner they were over fired and not meaty at all! I guess I would have to buy the fish on ice and asked to fry that because they were plump and meaty to the touch! The shrimp was over breaded! Just moved to NJ and thought I found a great fish market that fry's/cook within place! I guess I'm still on the search for a good one!!!!!

First may i say Thank God we found a good fish market that knows good fish! we recently relocated here from New Orleans so we're used to and spoiled by the best gulf seafood ever. We've had the pleasure of meeting the owner Pete the past several times we've purchased Red Snapper and Colossal Shrimp and we're definitely impressed by the beauty of these Snappers and the shrimp thAnk you Pete for fresh gulf seafood... We will continue to spread the word of your fabulous fresh fish thanks!!

First time trying Pete's today. Great experience. Nice selection of wild caught fish. Owner couldn't have been more helpful. No fishy smell in the store. Fish is so fresh. Prices seemed reasonable. Parking lot. My new go to fish market.

Just tried this place for the first time yesterday. Picked up 5 dozen blue crabs. Everyone was so nice! They even walked them to my car! The crabs were so meaty. They have big selection of fresh fish. Will be coming back here for fresh seafood for sure!! If you haven't been here yet, and you live in the area...you're making a mistake!

Delicious seafood! Fresh! We are in Cranford and we now skip Westfield Seafood and also Marino's (limited selection) and have stepped up to a longer ride to Plainfield. Wish we found this sooner! Last weekend we chose sea scallops - can't wait to next weekend!

Pete's seafood is high quality, and incredibly fresh. We purchased clams and octopus, and both items were delicious. Pete's is now our go-to place for seafood.

Hometown staple. The "Billies" are by far the best, whenever I come home, I always get one to go.

I purchased 1/2 bushel of crabs for the 4th, picked them up the day before. I was told the prior day the price would be $90-100. When I picked up the crabs I had to pay $110 (I decided to pay the extra because we were expecting company). When we finally opened the container there were more than 2 dozen of the smallest crabs I've ever seen for sale. The bottom of the container was filled with very small claws. Please save your money, this is no way to do business

Artie S. I ordered several lobsters, King Crab legs and X-tra large shrimp. The food was incredible! They cooked everything for me and the seasoning was perfect! I would definetly recommend Pete's for fresh sea food.

You need to give this place a try if you like fresh fried seafood. Forget the menu hanging over the fishmongers head and just order what you want with a side of fries and Cole slaw. Pictured in my photo was a piece of whiting, 2 softshell crabs battered, fries and slow... Under $15. Enough said and delish to boot! The fresh fish is also excellent and reasonable, ample parking too!

Great market, if you love seafood. They'll clean, season and fry your fish for a tiny fee. My new favorite spot in Plainfield. Pete, the owner, is very nice.

This is a good fish sandwich. I'd been told they had good fish sandwiches here and just now getting around to trying it for myself. I like it, I like it a lot. Seasoned well enough that I don't want to add any hotsauce, tartar or ketchup.

Great place and friendly atmosphere! These guys been here for a long time so I know that they know what they're doing. You should try their sandwich, it's called "The Billy!"

I really enjoy fish and shellfish. I sometimes get it delivered but when I want a local shop, Pete's has done a great job. They offer high quality fish as well as my wife's current favorite, a soft shell crab sandwich. I see they have a number of cooked options that are intriguing. I like to cook it myself and have recently enjoyed salmon, crab, shrimp etc. I need to check out the fish fry mix they offer in the future. Parking can be a bit more difficult but it is well worth it and the owner has been very friendly and helpful.

My first time at this market, and let me tell you they have the freshest scallops ever. So tender and sweet. Bought some white shrimps and fresh flounder for Peruvian ceviche. I'm definitely coming back!

The best fish market in the area! Great baccala and shrimp. The fried fish dinners are also very good and the owner is always nice!

Came here for sushi grade tuna to make poke bowls and it was excellent and decently priced!

fantastic as always. the absolute freshest catch deliciously cooked by george. and, myron the front of the house a pleasure to deal with. our 5th Christmas eve bonanza --fried shrimp, billy sandwiches, sauteed lobster tails, snow crabs, luxurious lobster bisque, cleaned perfect shrimp cocktail, and all the side fixins lemons tartar and ctail sauces--homemade marinara sauce w/ calamari--thank you sis for cooking the pasta, lol-- pete's is 5 stars , and the price is always right too-- happy new year

Pete's has been our go-to fresh seafood market for almost 25 years. Myron has never let us down. We have never gotten so much as a bad clam or mussel. Their chowders are so delicious that we freeze them so we have them on hand. We recommend Pete's to all of our friends and family.

The customer service was great and their product fresh and tasty too. The owners seems to know their products and the store did not smell like rotten fish. Will definitely be my go to place for my seafood.

Pete's Fish Market is truly a rare gem of a small sigh market these days. We drove there recently from Palisades Park, NJ (Just over 1 hour away) just to find out for ourselves how great this store really is. We left pleasantly surprised! The prices were reasonable, the fish were very fresh and cleaned to perfection for us. We were even thoughtfully given some ice to keep our purchase cold for the long ride back home. The selection of fish was quite plentiful, especially for the middle of a Friday afternoon. Definitely a worthwhile store to purchase fresh fish from and keep going back for more. It's no wonder that they have been in business for over 80 year! KUDOS!

Let's start by saying this place is very clean the owner Pete is very friendly and will make you feel at home the fish taste very fresh like it's out of the ocean it's not seasoned however you can add your own seasonings a very pleasant experienceI gave four stars only because I like my food seasoned

Pete's Fish Market was recommended to me so I called him. I needed to purchase a large amount of fish and shrimp to cook and sale as a fundraiser. I was not disappointed! Pete was very nice and his service was excellent! The price he gave me was the best and more importantly his seafood was fresh which made our fundraiser a success!!! Excellent market. I've always gotten fresh, high quality seafood when shopping here. Myron and the guys are helpful with suggestions and always polite. I make the trip for special occasions as I know that I won't be disappointed. My only regret is that I'm usually running around and haven't had time to get a sandwich; they look great.

This review is not based on the food, which in the past has always been satisfactory. I am really disappointed with the service. Usually I deal with the gentleman ( I believe he is the owner, Pete), however, today (08/06/18) there was a woman there who neglected to include any of the sauces I requested THREE times- once when I place the order on the phone, once when I arrive and recited the order to her, and then a third time when she brought the bag over to me. I didn't check it because she assured me that the condiments were in the bag. Now we have to eat the seafood dry because after travelling 15 minutes there and then back home there was no where close to buy some. Thanks for spoiling our meal!!

My husband and I had a wonderful valentines dinner. Clams and oysters on the half shell were amazing. The seared scallops were so sweet and delicious. Can't wait to see what we'll get next time. Kevin and Chris frrom Chatham NJ

Myron and George did it again, another amazing Christmas Eve doing the Feast of the Seven Fishes!! These photos are only the first course, the cold fish ( with the exception of the hot crab dip in the fondue pot to the far left), followed by a second course of stuffed calamari, etc... and third course of scallops. The photo includes the most amazing seafood salad and octopus salad along with shrimp and crab claws, etc.. all prepared and provided by Pete's as were all the subsequent courses. This is the second Christmas Eve that Myron and George have done for us and now will become our tradition to depend on the best fish market in New Jersey that offers the kind of service that can only be provided by people that care. In fact, Myron called the day after Christmas to check on us and make sure everything went as planned. WHO DOES THAT?!?! My family from California and New Jersey were really blown away and we could only have done this with the help of Myron and George. Thank you so much guys, you are truly the best!

Great lobster tail, clams and more. They will also help you with recipes. Very fairly priced. Excellent quality.

I love this place hello Plainfield the food is seasoned to profection yum! I usually get the fried whitening and steam crab legs which I must admit is larger than the grocery store the customer service is personable keep up the good work

This is my go to spot for blue crabs. They have some of the best prices in the area and they get true #1's as opposed to the tiny crabs many others try to pass off as #1's. I've tried their soups and bisques and they were excellent, as well as their fried lunch and sandwich combos. They give a generous portion in their prepared food options.

Freshest seafood ever! Call ahead and get 2 lb lobsters brought in same day from waters in Maine
