⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tried Pete’s Hot Chicken for lunch today for the first time and I’m honestly wondering how I haven’t been here sooner! If you’ve heard of other hot chicken spots, forget them — Pete’s wins hands down. It’s such a cool little place with a great vibe. Every single person we interacted with was kind, professional, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the tender meal with no spice (I can’t handle the heat 😅), and my son got the 2-tender meal with medium — which he confirmed is definitely spicy! 😆 We shared fries, and wow. The chicken was insanely juicy on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and had such a clean flavor. And the fries? Next level. Super crispy and perfectly seasoned. They cook in tallow, which totally explains that clean, rich taste (if you know, you know!). If you haven’t been yet, go show them some love — you won’t be disappointed. I’m already planning to go back and try their brunch. Those chicken and waffles are calling my name! 🤤

Found this place on Facebook and we just happened to be close. We ordered the Roscoe (chicken and waffle sandwich) 😋 Amazing!! The hot sauce/syrup has to be the best thing since sliced bread. The waffles were light and super fluffy yet crispy. The honey butter was off the charts and the best part was the chicken! 2 huge tenders spiced perfectly. My son got the hot and I chickened out (pun intended) and ordered them medium level spice. Overall, great food and the price didn’t put me out of a home. I recommend. 😎

This place must be saved at all cost, please support them. Now I love some hot chicken, but this is not just some other hot chicken place. They take all the flavors to another level. I ordered the dirty bird medium heat so I can taste all the flavors with fries, and Mac and cheese. Everything was beyond delicious. Generous portions. None of us finished our food. Best sweet tea to wash it down too. Looking forward to returning soon and highly recommend.

Thankful they still served us at such a close to closing time. Even then the chicken was juicy, flavorful, spicy, and plenty to eat. The size of the strips are more than enough for two people. The coleslaw was definitely different which I loved the different flavors. I look forward to trying other food times, and coming in at a better time. I greatly appreciate the staff, and their kindness. This food truck is located on the corner of the street. There is seating inside and outside. Also alcoholic, and non alcoholic beverage options. I would definitely try it the next time you’re in the mood for some scrumptious chicken.

I love that they have a dining room now. It was my first time back in a long time. The food still tastes great. The chicken was A+ just remember their spice scale is a different grading. I always get the mild and it's still very hot. ( but like in a good way) Also, the fries are separate order ( that's a bummer) but they're worth it. I think it's time to get a soda fountain in the dining room. I never like places that serve spicy food but don't have unlimited refills. We need that mandatory in restaurants with spicy food hahaha definitely check this place out if you're south of southtown

My coworkers raved about this spot, and they finally took me for lunch. I had the wings and fries, and yooooooooooooooooooooooo when I tell you them joints was bussin 😋. WingStop, Dave's Hot Chicken, who are they !? Everything tasted fresh and was well seasoned, even down to the carrot and celery sticks. The pictures don't do it justice. The customer service is AMAZING and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, you can tell the food was made with love and the environment is a vibe. Will definitely be back soon 😁.

It's definitely the best fried chicken I've ever had, and that's not an exaggeration. It's crispy, hot, and juicy. WOW! My first (but definitely not my last) visit to Pete's Hot Chicken was one for the books! My sister and I shared the Dirty Bird Loaded Fries, which were beyond incredible. All components of the dish were seasoned to perfection and had a good variety of textures going on: crispy fries, juicy fried chicken, and creamy mac 'n' cheese. Pete's Hot Chicken has dining outside and inside. We opted for cooler pastures, and sat inside the air-conditioned restaurant. The vibes were elite: dark, cool, and inviting. Plenty of indoor seating for small and bigger parties! Eye-catching decor from wood-slatted walls and neon signage to fun games and some choice reading (an Anthony Bourdain book on the shelf? Yes, please!). Service was incredible! We had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Cesar, the owner, who was so friendly and authentic! We talked about the food and the journey he's taken to realize his chicken-slinging dreams. Everyone we interacted with was super pleasant and on their A game! This place gets high scores all around! Best hot chicken I've ever had, I loved it. I've been trying all hot chicken locations in San Antonio and this one hasn't been beat.

The inside of the restaurant is what sets this place apart for me. The food was also excellent. Don't let the price sticker shock you it was worth every penny. If you have a craving for hot chicken I would even say this place is better than Dave's chicken.

I love hot food! Hot everything and this place was definitely super hot! The chicken was sooo flavorful and crunchy, fries were fresh, Mac and cheese was creamy and the auga Fresca tasted sooooo fresh! Everything was so yummy down to the condiments! The guy taking our order was very kind and informative on the menu! Definitely have to come back for there loaded chips! The food was brought to us quickly and every staff member was so kind. ALSO the INSIDE OF THE BUILDING was absolutely SOOOOO COZY AND INVITING. This is such a welcoming ambiance and I absolutely adored that they had such a pretty dining room. On top of that they have two TVs which made for great time. I'd definitely recommend this place!

Recommend: Yes! Food: I got the Dirty Bird w/mild spice and a Pineapple Agua Fresca. The Agua Fresca was cold, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet. It looks like it's hand made in the shop and you get a good amount. The Dirty Bird was loaded with fries, chopped chicken tenders (mild), creamy Mac n Cheese, sprinkled with bacon bits, and green onion. The spice had a kick but also a bit of sweetness to it. There was the right ratio of fries, to Mac n cheese, to chicken. As a matter of fact, I feel they didn't skimp out the chicken tenders like maybe another place would. The tenders were crispy. So you got crunch, savory, cheesy goodness in every bite. Service: Service was great. You order inside with the cashier, and you get a text message when food is ready. You have to go outside to get it. The food came quick and hot. People came in to check on you while you ate even thought it's self serve. Ambiance: Loved the music playing in the background. It also has low lighting, which felt cozy as I brought a book to read as well. There is plenty of seating and photo ops available.

Absolutely. Must try! I was in town visiting from Phoenix, and I was told this place was really bomb, and it did not disappoint. I tried out the dirty bird fries! Ok so I ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken tenders the medium did not have a good spice to mild for me and the hot felt like a medium spice but over all the waffle was under cook but had a good taste I have to give the credit to the syrup the building is nice inside and I like that we forgot to get are bottled water and the lady at the register remembered we forgot it and she brought it to use and yes I would go back to try there other options

First of all I'd give 5 stars for the service alone. I met Caesar, one of the owners and another worker... great people. It's a business you want to support. And the food... I've had it a few times now and it's amazing and CONSISTENT. I find hot chicken in every city I go and this is my go to in San Antonio.

The food here is AMAZING. Literally the best fried chicken, macaroni, fries, pickles. All of it. The service is great, everyone is so kind and helpful! And then the place is super cute. There's the food truck outside where they cook, and seating inside where you order. Love it here, can't wait to go back!

Bottom Line Up Front: This place is the real deal, huge portions, fair price, great setting. I had high hopes for this place after seeing a few of the videos on various social media platforms of the "bring your own bag" meals where they cut a bag of chips of your choice open and load it with chicken, mac and cheese, and their Comeback Sauce. We didn't bring our own chips, but luckily they recently started selling their own. We opted for a bag of the "Cheetos Flamin' Hot Dill Pickle" and it was delicious! Each of the components could easily stand on its own, the chicken, the mac and cheese, and the sauce were all phenomenal. We opted for the medium heat level and it had plenty of heat without being too overwhelming. One order was more than enough to share between two people, and I can't wait to go back and try different combinations with the various levels of spice and a different bag of chips. Another unexpected treat was how delicious their sweet tea was. They also offered Agua Fresca which I'm excited to try next time. The server was very friendly and helpful in providing recommendations, and their venue was really neat. You order inside, and then pick up your food from a food truck window when it's ready. Plenty of indoor seating, and some card games you can play while you wait.

Thanks to SA Texas Foodies YouTube shorts, made the drive there last night. The food blew my mind!!! Without a doubt, the BEST Nashville Hot chicken I have ever had. Even the fries were amazing!! Cesar, who is one of the owners and chefs, is amazing as well. Everyone needs to experience this place. I am committed to having brunch there soon. The service was very thoughtful and welcoming too. Even though food is "made-to-order", the wait time was surprising short. Sometimes, Five Stars is not enough and this place definitely deserves more... I will return!!!!

Cool sort of divey spot that operates with an indoor seating area and the kitchen is a food truck parked outside! Can do dine in or take out. Lots of street parking in the area. You can choose your spice level which is nice. I got the dirty bird with extra chicken tenders and a medium heat level and the chicken was fried to perfection. Crispy but juicy! Absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back for take out!

Hands down thee best hot chicken in San Antonio!!!! Awesome environment friendly service and the aguas frescas taste very fresh. I tried their dirty bird fries and their rasco sandwich both tastes very fresh and crispy. The flavor is unbelievable never tried something so good definitely going back with my family my new favorite food have to go back to try everything else.

Went to Pete's Hot Chicken for the first time June 29. Cute little place with a food truck outside and a cozy space inside. I asked some questions about the menu and settled on a Southtown (sandwich). We discussed with the employee whether they could cut it in half, and he explained it was better if we did that ourselves, so I know he knew we wanted a sandwich. He told me the total and it seemed high, but we were busy asking questions, so I just tapped my card. After a short wait the sandwich came out. It was flavorful and huge. We really enjoyed it. I left fully intending to return. When I checked my email later that evening, I noticed I was charged for the $6 more expensive Dirty Bird which is a fry-based dish, not a sandwich. It is weird that I ordered a sandwich, was given a sandwich, but was charged for more expensive loaded fries. I reached out via email and never got a response. I'll never go back, and although the food was unique and enjoyable, I would encourage all of you to check your receipts!!!!!!

Tenders are huge, fries are crisp delicious. I love that they sell agua frescas to wash it down (watermelon and horchata on the day I went). I don't tolerate very spicy so well anymore so I had the Lemon Pepper wings since I prefer chicken on the bone. Service was friendly and the wait was moderate considering they were busy on a Friday. The modern building and minimalist decor brightens this up and coming neighborhood. Indoor seating now available. I hope they eventually bring back their fried apple pies and chicken fried steak!

We stopped by this food truck spot during a road trip in Texas. We had fried chicken and waffles--both were pretty good. The chicken was spicy and crispy, and the waffles were freshly made. The staff were awesome, and the food came out quickly. The spot also has a nice outdoor atmosphere with plenty of tables and other food trucks to explore.

Hands down the BEST Nashville Hot in San Antonio. I try Nashville Hot at every place that offers it, but none even come close to what Pete's provides!!! I highly recommend you check out their new location at 2418 S. Presa. You won't be disappointed. My favorite is the Dirty Bird with Medium seasoning. It has a delicious kick of heat and sweet. Paired with bacon Mac and cheese, French fries and special sauce. Your taste buds will thank you. The chicken tenders are huge!! Just check out the photos.

Get it to go! That's literally the only downside. The food is amazingggg. The wings, the elote, the agua fresca and the service allll on point. We were having to fight off tons of flies so get this deliciousness to go.

I've been to Pete's twice. First time I dined at the picnic table where the truck is posted up. I was impressed with the hot chicken sandwich and the seasoned fries. They also serve agua frescas . I ordered the watermelon and it was really good. I ordered the mild flavor and the sandwich is served with 2 huge hot chicken tenders and is much better than the kind served at Dave's Hot Chicken. The 2nd and last time I got food from here was when I ordered it to go cuz it was freaking cold outside and I didn't see anybody here. I ordered the same thing I got last time but ordered my chicken medium since I was looking for a challenge. I wanted a pineapple agua fresca but it wasn't on the menu so I settled for a Mexican Coke instead. I got my order and took it home. While the food was good, my fries got limp and the sandwich was good but it wasn't as hot as I had expected. Maybe the spiciness had worn off or perhaps the spicy level seemed a bit off. But I'll come back and give Pete's another chance at redemption.

We got the Original chicken sandwich without sauce and the Southern chicken sandwich with the medium hot sauce. I liked that you could choose how hot sauce. For sides we tried both the Mac and cheese and fries. The Mac and cheese is made with a white cheese and had pieces of bacon in it. The fries are seasoned well and crispy. The food truck is at el Camino which is a nice place to wait and eat outside with a lot of seating.

This place has grown on me. Originally when I tried their food, I got the Wolf Pack combo. After visiting Pete's Chicken Shack two times after my first visit, I have to say it has become one of my favorite chicken places in San Antonio. I highly recommend the Dirty Bird. A side note here is that their mild/medium heat is like the regular "spicy" heat level at any other restaurant. I would say their strips won't stand by themselves, but with the Macaroni and wet sauce they add as well as seasoned fries and bacon bits, it just can't be beat. The only thing stopping me from going each week is the price of their items. Dirty bird is a great meal and it will definitely fill you up. God bless the chefs in the back. Dirty bird always hits.

Had the dirty bird and a chicken sandwich. Both huge servings! The food was good, Mac and cheese was a bit bland but everything else had good flavor. Only downside is that it is only outdoor seating so it does get really hot.

Service was horrible.....Came for dinner tonight and the girl taking our order was rude and very unhelpful. Definitely did not want to be there and almost seemed annoyed that we walked in, no smile and completely uninviting.now I can see why the place was empty.....I've been wanting to try this place as it's local and I love to support but due to the lack of customer service I will NOT be back....very disappointed

Great chicken! I'm obsessed with this place! My husband & I go here when we crave spicy fried chicken & it never falls short. We always get the dirty bird which is a big portion of Mac & cheese, bacon bits, fried chicken & their comeback sauce. I always grab some ranch cause the chicken is HOT. You can pick how hot you want it they have different levels, but we love the heat. You can definitely share a dirty bird, in my opinion it feeds 2 people comfortably. The service is good standard. They are at a new location so the parking is on the street. I don't think they have bathrooms. There is plenty of seating & it is outside.

FOOD IS BUSSIN YOOOOO!!!!! Let me start with the drink it was fresh sweet and big! It's a perfect refresher when munching down on the sweet spicy chicken! THE DIRTY BIRD!!!! A must get if you like a mixture of fries, chicken and mac and cheese! The chicken seasoning was a mild but it still had some very good flavor! The mac & cheese was cheesy and creamy with a large portions! The chicken tenders are FREAKING HUGE!! We got the medium level the tenders were moist and perfectly seasoned it comes with 2 slices of bread and pickles. The service was quick and easy you need to order at the truck and wait your turn for the meal. They have a nice lil spot well shaded and good amount of seating. I very much enjoy my time there and I will be coming back i definitely recommend this chicken joint!!!

I got many of my coworkers to try this place. Recently, they moved locations and undergoing a lot of new changes. I am not a fan of the new chicken. It's dry, the batter doesn't stick well and the size is smaller. The fries also changed and they have a weird coating in them. Maybe too much egg or cornstarch in the mixture. I won't be returning as often but this place is a much try and you might get hooked if you hit an OG customer.

I believe these are award winning loaded fries. If not, they ought to be. Original buffalo sauce was ordered on the tenders. It's the original and it's the best.

The best hot chicken I have ever had! My friends and I met up here to pre-game before an event at the arena and had some really good food. I ordered the medium tenders but my friend messed up and ordered the hot. My chicken was fresh, tender, juicy, and friggin delicious! I liked the sauces they served as well and the fried were outstanding. They are not playing with the heat though, i tried some of the hot and it will melt your face! 10/10 would recommend.

I loved this chicken sandwich I just wish there was some coleslaw. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and fat, and I loved it. I got the hot and it was hot. The hot was significantly hot too. The fries were seasoned and crispy and fresh. Honestly everything was good, I just really wanted some slaw to balance out the heat of my sandwich. Also, they charge $1 per 2oz of house sauce and that's the relatively small dipping cups, which is kind of crazy but the sauce is a must as well. Service was good and fast for a Saturday night. I'll definitely be coming back here for Nashville hot chicken.
