Chubby Noodle Is Shuffling Its Marina and North Beach Locations | Eater SF

"A nearby bar described by investors as an unsuccessful venture that Mrabe effectively bailed out by relocating and licensing the Chubby Noodle concept there; Mrabe says he faced a choice between closing Pete’s on Green or the North Beach Chubby Noodle and chose to move the noodle concept into the bar’s space." - Caleb Pershan

If you feel like dining at the Beach without all the riff raff. Come one over to the Hyatt and you will find the cute little bungalow! Super quick and efficent. I was a single top so I joined the amazing bartenders. Shane toured me through the food and drink menús. I setter with the surf city roll and fried green beans! Yum! I had the “dead man” cocktail it was an infused liquor that knocked my socks off. They will be doing some holiday them es food for october so I am definelty coming back! Amazing 10/10.

Good food. Service was acceptable but not great. Prices were high. Advertised as a seafood restaurant, but only had one seafood plate plus fish 🌮 tacos.

Google
Food was pretty good overall! Service was absolutely amazing and drinks were on point!

We stayed at the resort and this was the first place we decided to eat. They have outdoor seating that is straight across from the beach. They also have a couple igloo that you can eat in outside if it’s too chili. Plenty of seating inside as well. The chips, salsa and guacamole were so delicious. The chips came out hot and were so good. I also enjoyed the mushroom Swiss cheeseburger. It’s 1/2 pound and it’s a big sandwich! Our server was Trever and he was wonderful. He was so busy because it really filled up while we were there and he didn’t miss a beat!

My bff was in town and we both love Christmas, so it was only fitting that I take her to Pete’s Christmas Vacation! The decor is super cute, food was great, and we loved the xmas cocktail mugs. Service was a little slow considering there were only 3 tables of customers and lots of staff. Josiah deserves a shout out for taking care of us when he saw we were at our table for almost 10 mins with no one coming over to us. The kitchen also did a great job of putting the charcuterie meat on another plate since I am a vegetarian. Will go back next year!

Google
Great location and relaxed vibe. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The food was good but I would have to say pretty average especially for the price point. I had the fish tacos which had good flavor but it doesn’t come with any sides so you’re just getting two tacos and a few tortilla chips. My husband had the cheeseburger which he said was mediocre. The French fries were tasty and cooked well. The staff was very friendly but service was pretty slow and a bit inattentive. I only ordered a water and drank it all half way through our lunch and no one ever came by to refill it.

Google
Edit: we ended up eating here twice, ordered the same tempura roll and although looking the same wasn’t inconsistent on the flavor. Still good! Buffalo wings were good nothing special, the green beans were a delight!! And we had the Mallory Torte which was actually really good not to sweet! Orders to go and took it to the beach! 5/5 Shrimp Tempura, easily the best I’ve ever had, my Palette was in Heaven. The sauce is incredible, the actual roll it self texture wise was phenomenal! I honestly will order this every time I am in Huntington Beach. As for the Swiss burger it was also to really good! 3/5 and that’s due to the excessive meat.. 1/2lb is ginormous and well plenty for two (1/4-1/3 options would be a lot better. The first 3 or so bites were really good, great tasting meat however the seasoning is inconsistent throughout, and then after awhile you’re just eating unseasoned beef. If you’re in the area or stay at the Hyatt Regency I highly recommend Pete’s Sunset Grille

Google
We were seated right away and given water, but after that we were completely ignored. We waited over 20 minutes and no one came to check on us or take our order. Meanwhile, the table next to us was checked on twice, and a couple seated after us had their appetizer order taken almost immediately. At that point, we decided to walk out. This level of service is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that’s part of the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach. Very disappointing experience.

Yelp
I ordered the mac and cheese to go. It had broccoli, tomato, breadcrumbs, and grilled chicken in it. The waitress suggested requesting extra sauce, so I also did that. I enjoyed it, it wasn't overloaded with veggies which I appreciated. The chicken was cooked well and the sauce had a nice flavor.

Yelp
I'm a Huntington Beach local and have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years -- which makes today's experience especially disappointing. When I arrived with my two service dogs, I politely explained to the host that I have epilepsy. She asked, "What tasks do the dogs perform for your epilepsy?" I replied that they alert someone nearby if I have an episode. She then followed up with, "Alert who?" -- to which I said, "Alert anybody nearby." At that point, she gave me an attitude and told me we couldn't be seated inside. That line of questioning is not appropriate or necessary under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). My son and I were left feeling embarrassed and singled out in front of other guests -- simply for following the law and bringing trained service animals into a public restaurant. As locals who live across the street and have brought consistent business here, it's incredibly disheartening to be treated this way -- especially when this could have been easily avoided with proper ADA training and a little compassion. Disability awareness matters. Huntington Beach is a small community, and how a business treats its regulars says everything. We'll be spending our money elsewhere from now on. -- A disappointed (and shocked) HB local Go anywhere else ..... my only advice Cheers

Yelp
The cutest Halloween pop up bar! (They also do Christmas) located to the right of the lobby in the Hyatt Regency. The drinks were strong, yummy, and so festive! The food was delicious, but my pasta could've been warmer. Still very satisfied with the food though. The service was great, server was kind and attentive. We sat on the bar side so he took our order and made our drinks :) they also have a restaurant side as well if you have children/ need a bigger seating area. The restaurant is pretty big. The bathrooms are a walk away (the only con). Overall I had a great experience here and would recommend going if you live locally and are looking for a festive place!
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
This place was pretty fun as a Christmas popup. Really well decorated and had a great atmosphere. The waitress was really nice, but service was really, really slow. We got the pretzel charcuterie, the ceviche and the fried green beans. They were all good. The drinks were in fun Xmas cups and were decent tasting. Definitely a fun place to go over the holidays.

Yelp
Ok, I came back again! This time for my 55th birthday! The ambience was spectacular!! The food was delicious my whole family love their entrees will post pics! Drinks were amazing! Service was superb! Had a great day here & thanks to everyone here at Pete's! Until next time.
google avatar

Tami D.

Yelp
A cute restaurant, especially on Halloween! I can't say the service was the best or the food was that good on this latest visit, but Pete's was decorated so well for Halloween. I still liked the burger, but the servers were not friendly or helpful during our meal. Better luck next time!

Steven L.

Yelp
If you're thinking about coming here for their holiday pop-up stay clear had one drink in 40 minutes server didn't even look our way I had to go chase her down. Ordered appetizers waited 40 minutes. Nothing came out Even after hunting down the server took her an additional 30 minutes to visit our table still no food and have been sitting here for about an hour with an empty cup
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
I will admit social media brought me here but I am not mad about it! The hype is very real. Pete's Sunset Grill is located at the Hyatt in HB. There is no free parking so you must valet which is $10 with validation from the restaurant. I recommend reservations but we went during lunch this past Sunday and there was hardly any one there! I thought it would be packed as holiday bars can get a little crazy this time of the year but this was not the case. The decorations are AWESOME and will get you in that holiday spirit. The drinks also play on the holiday pop up theme which was a cute touch. I ordered "It snows in Surf City" for $16 and came in a little snowman glass. Food is pretty delicious here. Everyone at my table enjoyed their entrée. I ordered the turkey dinner sliders ($18) and they were very filling and flavorful! Otherwise, service was attentive and on point. I would be back year round as the food and drinks were really good!

Yelp
We r staying in Hayatt for a conference It is a chills place, cute decor and has nice indoor and outdoor seating Had coffee and pistachio dessert which was good Trever our waiter was friendly and very attentive Me and my friend loved it and we will be back
google avatar

Wen D.

Yelp
This place gave you a good portion of food. Tasty at that! Love, stopping by whenever we're in the area. And, don't forget to stop by the soft serve ice cream across the street.
google avatar

Caitlin B.

Yelp
I've been here several times and everything is always amazing. Typically hotel restaurants and bars always fall short but not this one. The food, the ambiance, everything. The service is great, I have no complaints but I will say one server named Trevor always stands out. Very attentive and makes the best recommendations. He's always very sweet to my kids as well. The live music is also amazing! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place in HB that has a great view and great service.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
My sister recommended this place so we went to check it out. Staff were super welcoming. It was decorated really nice for Christmas. It was a really cool spot. Our server Trevor was awesome. Super nice. Joked around with us. Helpful all around. Give this dude a raise because he is awesome. I got the ahi tuna sandwich and the wife got a burger. Tuna was cooked well but bland. The sandwich didn't stand out. Wife said the same thing for her burger. Overall, our sandwiches missed the seasoning mark. It was disappointing. The cocktails were great. The green bean fries were awesome. If the seasoning was nailed on the main dishes, this place would be 5 star.
google avatar

Rose H.

Yelp
We had booked a reservation and were 10 minutes late so we had to wait 30 minutes for a spot. We ended up in the prefect spot so no complaints! The food was yummy and filling and the drinks were strongggg. Our server was so kind and even comped our drinks because it took too long. Had an absolute blast, lots of photo opportunities, would def go again. Valet parking available for $10 if u get it validated at the bar!
google avatar

Sam P.

Yelp
At a meeting at this hotel we headed here for pre dinner drinks and snacks - liked it so much it became our actual dinner! The drinks are delicious - had Crimes of Passion which was a mixture of gin, passion fruit and basil syrup and was so, so good! We ordered various appetizers - loved the very hummus but the absolute stand out was the fried green beans which were the best I have had! The batter was light and crisp and the green beans were perfect! Service was great, music phenomenal and loved the surf theme decor!
google avatar

Jiliza N.

Yelp
So this place was located next to/inside the hotel, not that hard to find. Valet parking. You get validated but not fully, I believe just $10?? We came to check out the holiday drinks which were pretty tasty & HITTT!! Cups were so so cute. Service was great because we asked to switch out our bread for the bacon jam because it was rock hard. They gladly obliged! Great holiday bar, but probably wouldn't visit again on a regular day!
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
We didn't eat here but had a nightcap and some dessert. The staff working the bar were awesome- super friendly and gave great recommendations. We went with the carrot cake, the passion fruit drink, old fashion, rose, and another cocktail. Each drinks was fantastic and you could taste the alcohol in each. The carrot cake was super unique and flavorful- probably my favorite carrot cake take I've had in years. We left them a mini duck with a party hat for the bar :) Definitely stop in for a drink and perhaps next time we will try some food!
google avatar

Yelp
Do not come here if you're a foodie. Food was subpar, nothing spectacular. We are staying at the hotel and wanted a quick bite. Food came out fast and the Mac n Cheese tasted like it was microwaveable from the grocery store. My mom ordered the Strawberry salad, $19 and got a plate of arugula with 1 strawberry cut 4 ways. The steak and fries were just okay, the sushi I'll take the blame for ordering that at an American place. Additionally, our server seemed to be having a bad day. He told me the seafood chowder was not the move when I asked if it was similar to a clam chowder, so I'm thankful for that. However, we needed to ask for water refills 3 times. Finally, a young guy came to our table, slammed two glass water bottles on the table, and said "here's your water spice girls, and don't worry it's on the house". We were a group of five women and are always very thankful everywhere we go. We weren't sure where this unwarranted attitude was coming from, but I spoke to the manager.
google avatar

Becca R.

Yelp
We made reservations for a group of 8. Our table was ready when we arrived. There was a variety of different foods and we were served quickly. Staff was very friendly and helpful!
google avatar

Lori R.

Yelp
Went there for dinner to see the holiday decorations and had a great time. We sat on the patio & our server was Jimmy. He was the best! The food and drinks were good and the atmosphere was so festive. Jimmy made our night with the outstanding service he provided to us!
google avatar

Ruthy V.

Yelp
They have the place decorated for Xmas this year ! Super cute decors and hilarious drink/food names on their menu. The bartenders are so sweet too. They also allow dogs here too. You will have to valet & get it validated . It cost $10 for 3 hours for validation. Def will still come back. It does get packed on the weekends, so I decided to check out the place on a weekday instead

Amy C.

Yelp
Took over 30 minutes to have a server come to our table, food wasn't good, didn't"t seem fresh, drinks were ok, order was missing items, the Halloween theme is fun, wasn't that busy but seemed poorly managed
google avatar

Kevin T.

Yelp
Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We made a last minute reservation change. Mushroom burger did not disappoint. And the flight we ordered wasn't bad either. Christmas decor was very cool.
google avatar

Sarah O.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night. They were only taking reservations inside at that point but luckily we found two seats at the bar. Bartenders took a bit to attend us as it did seem like it might have been picking up! Then Nathan came out and was so attentive and kind! We got our food and drinks which were delicious! We are definitely coming back and bringing friends!
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
Add this to your Christmas/festive holiday list!!! This place is covered head to toe in Christmas decorations with a pretty extensive themed drink menu. So fun, plus you're right next to the beach so hard to beat it! Although I loved the atmosphere, the food definitely was nothing special. We got mac and cheese and chicken pot pie and weren't really impressed by either- just not enough flavor for us. I would come back again for sure, but would likely just get drinks next time :)

Yelp
I arrived to Pete's super hungry and very eager to eat everything. It was a matter of convenience that brought me to Pete's since I was staying at the Hyatt, but I am glad I stopped by! Pete's has this beach vibe feel and radiates a cool casualness. The dimensional depth of the restaurant caught my attention as there was so much to soak in. I felt like I was on the beach. Well, based on proximity I was! I was instantly greeted and seated upon entering. It was a very warm welcome and I ordered the burger. It was very good - giant, tasty, filling. The fries were solid. The margarita excellent. The service was very collaborative as different servers popped by to take my orders from drinks to food. I never really was left waiting. It was a good experience!
google avatar

Jerry B.

Yelp
Great food, really nice ambiance. Fantastic waitress, providing stellar service. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
The food was delicious and honestly a bit less expensive than I thought it would be. My server Nathan was awesome. He was kind and attentive while easily noticing that I just wanted to have some food and read my book. The portion of ahi in the sandwich was impressive - I love a nice thick piece with a rare center and that was just what I got. The Caesar was really good and done just right. The restaurant is not too loud and has a good amount of space. When I came around 6pm it wasn't busy at all. It has a great view of the water. As the name implies it's a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset. I'm looking forward to coming back!
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
Excellent dining and libation options when visiting the Grand Hyatt resort. Right upfront service is friendly and professional. We frequented the bar area several times during our conference week; each was a great experience. There is a full bar with interesting cocktail specials including a Tiki bowl option. There are a few local draft options and as usual, their West Coast IPA was my favorite. On one visit I ordered chips, salsa, and Guac. The portion was huge and three people could have shared this appetizer. On another visit, my cheeseburger was perfectly cooked with a generous side of waffle fries. We did have one MEH experience when we ordered their chicken wings. They were tiny, dry, and tasteless. There is an outside patio and when the weather is perfect (most of the time) this is a great spot.

Mahdi E.

Yelp
This place is amazing from food to drinks to generosity. They have awesome food like the fish and chips and like the sushi rolls and our waiter Trevor was very kind he showed generosity, respect and attending.
google avatar

Connor I.

Yelp
Really excellent food & friendly, prompt service! Ate here for lunch two days in a row as I'm in town for a work conference, And both meals were quite satisfying. Seared salmon roll & Fancy burger. Can't go wrong with either!! Full of flavor, and surprisingly fair portions for the price-- given the fact that this restaurant is inside a hotel.
google avatar

Alder L.

Yelp
Met some friends here who were already seated, so I didn't interact with the hosts. That is always my 1st impression & a big deal to me. Trevor was an excellent server, very friendly & knew the menu inside & out. A smaller menu, but enough for everyone. We shared the crab cakes & a sunset roll. The yellow tail was very good. The crab cake was tasty, but nothing special. A killer sauce might have elevated this. I had the shrimp fried rice, and oh was this good! It was something different, and I really liked it. My only disappointment was there was not any veggie sides that I could have had with it. I split a classic Caesar with my friend, which was very good. Other entrees was the scallop pasta, which was cooked perfectly as sometimes scallops can come out tough. My other friend loved her mushroom swiss burger, the brioche bun was a great compliment to the patty. Our cocktails were spectacular as well, lots of specialty drinks. The restaurant was beachy casual and not too loud even when crowded. Valet validated parking for $10, a deal in HB.
google avatar

Shaiana C.

Yelp
Came here for the Christmas experience and loved the interior! It was just the kind of vibe we wanted for the holidays. Quite pricey but it's right on the beach, you're paying for the real estate. Drinks and food were fine, nothing special, but a fun place to visit for a holiday hangout.
google avatar

Robbin P.

Yelp
We have stayed at the Hyatt for years and we love Pete's! The bartenders are awesome. We tried their egg nog and it was phenomenal!
google avatar

Terry K.

Yelp
Great bar great fish tacos burgers and more. Great welcome from servers and great service. Enjoy a day a night a weekend or a week, this hotel spa resort is a check in and stay fir the fun kind of place

Wendi M.

Yelp
When in December, the decorations was amazing! It look like the scene from Elf movie where decorations the store all out. I love it! The food (burger & turnkey burger) and drink (very berry Christmas) was delicious! The workers were very kind, even when we were 10-15 minute to our reservation. They accommodated us with any hesitation.
google avatar

Debra B.

Yelp
First time here. Came for all the Xmas decorations. Great drinks. Great food. Will definitely come back.

DeLayne B.

Yelp
We hadn't been here in probably five years and not a whole lot had changed. It is definitely a vacation destination filled with tourists and also conventioners alike. We Sat on the patio because we had our dogs and there was a very nice breeze coming off of the ocean, Our server, Nathan was immediately available to us. I ordered a Mezcal You Later margarita And my friend had a Heineken. There is not actually a view of the ocean, but the beach vibe is definitely going on. There is a bridge that crosses over PCH directly opposite the restaurant. We both ordered in tacos! Mine were grilled with a pineapple, mango salsa, mashed guacamole, and cabbage. Very delicious. My friend tried the blackened and loved them as well. Nathan is friendly and his service was fine. We did not ever receive the last Heineken ordered. The bar must have forgotten. If you're looking for a better view of the ocean, this wouldn't be your spot. The tacos were plenty for my small appetite but my friend found that they were not enough. We will be back because there are many other items on the menu worth checking out. No pictures of the tacos this time but I will be sure and get them in the next.

Anastasia K.

Yelp
Terrible food. Awful service. Don't go there. The hostess was nice. The server was rude.

Jamie M.

Yelp
I've been throwing up for the past hour after eating a sushi roll from here. Something was bad, the fish or the spicy topping. Probably the fish. Not good. I feel awful right now .
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
Hit it out of the Park with Pete's Christmas Vacation. Great Vibe. Awesome food. Amazing Service. Kudos to all!

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant here at the h.b. hyatt. Staff is super friendly. Jimmy Jen and the rest of staff are the best! Super friendly and proffesional. A+ always a great experience thank you! Our lil family loves this place.!
google avatar

Victoria J.

Yelp
Calm and Beachy atmosphere, not too loud. We were seated right away and had Trevor as our server. Trevor was super friendly and helpful walking us through the menu to find the best items. The drinks were very good and the food was well plated with good balance in the dishes. Highly recommend and will come back on our next vacation- thanks Trevor!

Pranjali S.

Yelp
Good place. I was staying at the resort and came here twice for dinner and lunch. Menu remains the same but it's good. The dinner the first night, we ordered the Mai Tai, the Offshore Breeze for drinks and the fish tacos and the mushroom swiss burger for entrees. The drinks were good. I liked the Offshore Breeze a lot as I've had a similar drink before and that was not good. This one really hit all the marks. The fish tacos were very good and filling. I liked the fried fish better than the grilled fish. The burger was also decent. For lunch the second day, we got the tomatoes and pepper bisque with fried green beans, grilled cheese and the blackberry margarita and a mimosa. The bisque was good but the fried green beans were AMAZING!! The drinks were definitely strong as we just needed the one each to feel buzzed. Despite not liking flavored margaritas, I really liked the blackberry margarita. Liked this place both times, but you definitely run out of menu options.
google avatar

Craig B.

Yelp
Looking at this place, it looks like a typical California beach/surf restaurant like you'd see in Santa Cruz or Half Moon Bay. You can eat outside within earshot of the ocean waves, which is a big plus. Salmon poke bowl was excellent with perfect salmon and fresh ingredients. I actually couldn't find the salmon when I got it, thinking the salmon was nice ripe tomatoes -- it was just that great quality. Salmon was very tasty, macadamia's were a nice addition. Miso glazed salmon looked like it would be typical overcooked and dry, but it was better than any grilled salmon I've ever tasted. The buffalo wings were not spicy, but the taste of the wings themselves was surprisingly better than any buffalo wings I've ever had -- extremely tasty, so I just forgot they weren't spicy enough. The deep fried philly sushi was good, but not my thing. They had what was needed to enjoy any of the sushi on the menu. All in all, it was good enough to take the leftovers to go, which is better than most restaurants. And, the drinks were obviously mean to be the highlight. 8 craft beers on tap, great cocktails including the "Painkiller" (yeah, it killed it), the "Singapore Sling" (excellent ingredients), and lime margaritas. The people who had the margaritas commented that they were too strong -- but they gave it to them to go! That's service! And obviously, you get what you pay for, no watered down drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Good outdoor seating, decent food and drinks Came here with my $40 food voucher from pacific waters spa (see my review - also on Hyatt regency grounds) Poke bowl 4/5 H chunks of ahi tuna dressed in a little bit too much soy sauce, white rice, avocado, pickled onions, spring mix, seaweed salad, and macadamia nuts. Loved the crunch the macadamia nuts gave the entire poke bowl. It tasted fresh and was filling - only off putting part is tasted like the ahi was seasoned with only soy sauce which made it a little too salty Coconut rum drink 2/5 The floating coconut shavings around my drink were not pleasant at all and simply not what I expected. It was strong but not sweet and was one of those drinks you had to try hard to finish. The bamboo straw and tiki glass were cute. I loved sitting outside with a gorgeous view of the entire property on a sunny socal day. The servers were attentive and all my food was covered by my voucher.
google avatar

Valerie C.

Yelp
Meh. This is one of the hotel restaurants on site. We ate on the patio. Ordered fish tacos and a side salad, but I expect more from fish tacos in a beach town in southern CA. They just didn't have any wow factor for being called "famous."

Steve D.

Yelp
What an unexpectedly delightful surprise! We looked for just a casual birthday dinner at the last minute. We got delicious food (all the entrees were a hit, and even the chips were excellent!) and our server Trevor was attentive and funny and generous. The ambiance was mellow and not noisy at all. The food arrived speedily for our hungry appetites. 5 stars, and we would definitely eat here again!
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
I gave this place five stars all because of Casy. He was an excellent server and really helped me get what I needed. I wish all servers had the heart that he does.

Yelp
Go to lunch spot inside Hyatt HB. Love this hotel. Been coming here since it opened. If you're not staying at the hotel you can eat at Pete's and they will validate the valet parking down to $7. Must have for lunch are the green bean fries and Ahi tuna sandwich!
