Petey’s Burger

This place used to be good value but they changed things and lost on quality and taste. The patty melt was decent but they changed the bread to some thin, chewy thing and it came cold… on one of the hottest days. Fries were cold as well and soggy, milkshake was basically foamy milk and the burger was flavorless. Not worth it anymore, glad we didn’t do two combos.

DON’T. JUST DON’T. I hadn’t ordered from Petey’s in about a year and a half. And I won’t be ordering from them ever again. I bought a double cheeseburger and an order of fries. The fries are different now and far inferior to the ones that they used to have. My double cheeseburger looked like the patties were sitting on the grill all afternoon. I ate half of it because I was starving but the damage was done. I’ve had diarrhea now for over 24 hours. A total waste of my money and my day because of their horrible food. NEVER AGAIN.

I heard about this through one of the best burgers review. I ordered the Double Combo with Cajun Fries and a can of coke. My total with tax came to $18.56. $0.30 was added to the Cajun Fries. The sandwich was amazing. Easily makes it on my top 10 burgers list. I have had some great burgers. The Cajun Fries were good, I have had better. I was the only person in the place for a long while at 4:30 on a Sunday. Business is slow or they lost popularity. I will be back to eat here

I enjoyed my meal. The onion rings were nice and crispy and the cheeseburger was seasoned well. The teriyaki wings were saucy and crispy, too! The staff were friendly and helpful. I definitely will return!

Very Good Burger, nice fries and Wings. Prices are okay.

Burger and fries were perfect. Onion rings had 2 hairs inside, one blonde one black. Called and they said they would deliver free onion rings back but I refused and they told me it's a scam. Beware!

Got the double cheeseburger, total came out to slightly under $10. Burger was ok/good. Nothing to brag about. 7/10. Would like more beefy flavor.

Ate here today for lunch by myself during my lunch break while working full time and across the street as a teacher assistant at The 30th Avenue School (Q300). I had brought and ate the bacon cheese burger with fries and a can of soda. It was really good, tasty and delicious. The service there was also super fast, quick and attentive that I didn't feel rushed about what to choose a burger to try for the first time. I couldn't agree more. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

I decided to try two different veggie burgers from Petey's today and I was thrilled at how delicious both are! The Greek Veggie burger has a great flavor reminds me of a spanikopita. The Southwestern burger also has wonderful flavor, you can definately taste the black beans and corn. Sauces on both are a nice touch.

When Thrillist Magazine/Web site named Petey's Burger a top choice nation-wide, I said I must try it. Parked in front of the store in Astoria and kept an eye on my BMW since it wasn't a legal space. Ordered quickly and then Stood next to it. Burger took 10-15 minutes to prepare so I was positively encouraged by the individual burger food prep. Unfortunately- for Petey's more cons than pros: Cons: 1) Expensive $10.20 before tax for a single Petey's Burger with lettuce, tomato, special sauce and fresh onion + large fries (only come in large) enough fries for two people and a can of Diet Coke 2) No price break for combo which means the 12 Oz soda was $2.00 or more. 3) Saw the cook pour the frozen shoe string fries into the fryer. Large helping, but they were not hot and at $3.95 they should made from fresh cut Idaho potatoes on premises. Instead, they tasted no better than the Churchill fried chicken fries next door 4) The burger was cooked on a flat top and should be bigger and juicer for $5.25 5) Bun didn't hold up to one hand eating - burger and vegetables slide out Pros: 1) Great packaging of the burger and fries 2) Efficient but slow service 3) Lettuce and Tomatoes and onions were fresh Likely won't return. I can go to the Jackson Hole Diner up on Astoria Blvd for a much better and bigger burger experience + they serve beer at Happy Hour prices.?

If I could give less than one star I would !! They delivered the food completely Open for contamination during a worldwide pandemic !! They didn't even bother to bend the bag closed. The bag is brand now and you can tell it was never sealed. Leaving my food exposed to the delivery person and everything else !!! The cashier who answered the phone was as nice as he could be but there was no manager around ??? How?! This is so unacceptable. It's upsetting to spend $30 worth of food that has been exposed and contaminated. They didn't even bother to try to seal it !!

I love burgers and I'm always looking for a new burger place to try out. Petey's burgers are simple, tasty and juicy. I've been twice and gave gotten the same cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and pickles, both times my burger was delicious! On our last visit I tried out the Cajun fries, they were very flavorful and spicy. My nephew got the vanilla milkshake and he said it was really good. There's a nice selection of burgers with various toppings but I'm a purist and prefer to get a basic cheeseburger in order to really taste the true flavor that is not covered up by sauces and other toppings and I really liked this basic burger. The prices are very reasonable and they're open late if you're hungry past the 10pm Covid curfew.

Used to be great, gone downhill since pandemic. prices have gone up while quality has gone down, honestly surprised theyre still open

Food, is filling. Service is easygoing and great. A place to enjoy a good burger and chill out. Setting is welcoming. The double cheeseburger I just had , has me in heaven. Hard to go back to work . Yet, awesome!

Food would be great if it wasnt sitting outside my door for 45 minutes. I ordered on seamless and specified I want to be notified (usually knocking on door) when delivered. Called Peteys - they blamed grubhub. Called gribhub they said it was the restaurants delivery person as the order slip showed self delivery. For $40 for two cheeseburgers I dont need this BS. Restaurant lying about their delivery guy really set me off.

Pleasantly surprised by Petey's Burger in Astoria. Folks from the neighborhood are vocal with their reviews, they love Petey's Burger. It's a small place serving up some tasty burgers. We walk in at noon, one of the first customers. The place smells like burgers cooking. Your primal instincts kick in, meat.. mmm.. I quickly order a double cheese burger. What gets me is the price, this is the best deal in NY! A freshly made burger for under 10 bucks?! My burger comes to me. It's a hot, juicy, cheesy burger with an incredible taste. Petey's Burger you rocked it! It's not a fancy place for a burger, did you forget your in Queens? What they're cooking on their grill is some burger magic. All these comparisons to In & Out, who cares! It's a burger from Queens. No crazy blends or aged meats. Just a juicy burger topped with cheese. Archie Bunker or the King of Queens Doug Heffernan would be eating this burger.

Burger was great. I don't do their sauce on mine. I add mayo and ketchup. Can of coke, and I was good. I'll be back.

Yrrrrrrrrrrrr. Check one, two. Astoria we out here. Okay. Let's be honest. Petey's doesn't have its west coast unaffiliated counter part's prices (In-N-Out), but arguably they it do as close as NYC can with potentially fresher ingredients. I been smashing these burgers since 2015 and mans is STILL loving it; no Mickey ds. Is it nostalgia that keeps me coming bak? NO MF! It's gud! I'm looking at these reviews like, "Wow, Yelpers doing Petey's dirty." Please. Tell me your burger scale. Hm? Hmmm? Petey's isn't a gastropub. Nor is it Burger King. It's kinda on some Goldilocks ish in the middle. With that said, they are pumpin' out delicious burgers, fries, and (aiiiight) wings. If you afraid of salt, make a salad, family. Why you eating fried foods and red meat anyway? Err on the side of caution. All in all , if I was a person that mattered, I'd give this place a local crown. Live Laugh Petey's.

Good burger. Similar to in&out. Recommend the double burger with california style fries. Onion rings and petey style is a pass. If the burger was $1 or 2 cheaper that would be perfect

This is first time having Petey's Burgers. The burger was good but messy and the fries taste like old Mc Donald's fries, but I guess they were edible. The wings were okay, although, they were kinda greasy. My friend who is a huge fan of Petey's ordered a black & white milkshake and only got the white. She was not too happy about that, but she still drinking it. LOL. Overall I would give this place a 4- Star/ 5. Thank you Petey!!! ... for the slight disappointment. (:

Good old fashioned hamburgers from the grill. Very greasy but that's not a complaint. Pleasantly suprised by the large amount of fries. Solid burger but it is small in size. Don't think anyone can do bad with a burger. The place is a little more expensive than a burger chains combo meal. And I didn't see any burger chains on 30th Avenue. PETEYS BURGER also has another location in Long Island City.

Prices too high for what it is... some places need to make way for better options In-and-out is a way better value proposition, if they didn't compare themselves I'd be more lenient

Came here on National Burger Day because why the heck not? I ordered the cheeseburger combo, which comes with burger, fries and a drink. ($10.70). Note: the fry portion is big! The burger was very good. The only condiment they had to provide was ketchup. Personally, I sometimes like to dip my fries in mayo. Coming back for sure to try the milkshakes and probably the sweet potato fries.

Ordered Petey's with the expectation it would be fast food quality but it is a step up from that. The delivery was quick and the food was good! Thoroughly enjoyed my burger and fries!! Would recommend getting this if you are in the mood for a yummy and affordable burger!

I Oder Petersburg burger for dinner through Uber eats and all they did was put it in a paper bage and that's it you need to wrap it up in aluminum foil so that it will stay warm all I got was cold burger and cold fries Petersb

Probably the best traditional burger I've had. Better than Shake Shack and close to In-n-Out. Decently priced. Couple suggestions to make this 5 star: 1. Ask for less salt. They add too much, especially on the impossible burger 2. Fries needs to improve. Otherwise, good joint and nice people

I had to try this place out because rumor was they wanted to be like "In-out" in California. Because I lived in California 58 years and I've eaten at In and out at least 150 times if not more I had to compare: Customer service- In and out= 10. Petey's =5 Quality- In and out= 9 Petey's =5. This is based on lettuce and tomato being fresh and the fries being hot When served. In and out's lettuce is abundant and crispy with a large tomato slice and grilled Chopped onions with flavor. Petey's lettuce was one small piece wilted tomato was so so and the grilled onions weren't cooked all the way and they had no flavor. Petey's in my opinion Is a basic Burger shop nothing special. I actually think the burger club is way better just down the street. But opinions are like assholes everybody's got one.

Ok let me clear something up for you. It's not in and out. Nothing is. It's more like an In and out copycat. They use "spread" or thousand Island dressing. They package it same way. You can get California fries, a double double, or animal style. If you have never been to California this is meaningless to you. If you want a decent burger and fries for a good price that's way better than McDonald's and not insanely priced like bare burger, this is it. The staff is nice Burgers are higher quality than fast food Portions are generous And things are made to order They even make the fries It's quick Delivery fee I don't recommend delivery though. Doesn't travel well. It takes a while. It's not hot enough. And stuff gets soggy Cajun fries are a little spicy - recommend getting some plain fries and these and toss together Onion rings are good - not from frozen Buns don't have seeds Sodas are not fountain - cans I don't eat red meat often but when I do have these I don't get sick. Vegetarian options They have 3 kinds of veggies burgers THey have combos. But 1 order of fries is enough for 2 people.

No frills burger shop. Great burger. Fries are eh. Kind of crunchy like they've been over cooked or dried out. Prices have gone up since the menu on their website has been posted, so not as good of a deal as they once were. Still though, a tasty double cheeseburger fully loaded with toppings, fries and a can of soda for $15 is still a pretty good deal for the neighborhood.

Moved away but still come back sometimes for Petey's! Nothing beats the Petey melt! Not sure why they only got 3 stars. They are delicious, always fresh and on time!

Loved these burgers. Got delivery today through seamless. Fast as usual. Unfortunately, it came with someone's long brown, or blond or dyed hair attached to the top of my burger. Thank God it wasn't on the underside or in between the patties because it would have ended up in my mouth. Called the store up, and was told they didn't have anyone there with hair like that. Guess they didn't know I was in the store yesterday picking up and saw a young girl with long hair bagging the orders. Pretty sure it came from her as the cooks all have short hair. Offered a new burger or a credit. Chose the burger so I could physically give the old hairy burger back to the delivery guy. Gave the new burger to the dogs. Better training for employees handling food, better customer service for handling issues like this.

Quick and painless meal right off the N train is ALL I needed. Haven't been to Petey's since moving to Astoria and last night was time for me to pop my you know what. Not comparable to In And Out on the west coast, BUT the burger and fries are better than ANY fast food joint around. The staff was quick and had my order ready in less than 10 min. Although it was tasty, my stomach felt otherwise. But that's what you get from better than average fast food. Will be back for a double with Cajun fries!

Mediocre. Good enough that I'll eat here again if I were desperate. This is not NYC's version of In N Out! Ordered the double burger (with everything on it) and California fries. I was excited about the fries particularly because it has thousand island dressing, cheese and grilled onions. Just like In N Out's. NOPE. The onions were not grilled still raw, and the dressing nope. Didn't have enough to cover the fries. Boo. For the burger it was good but the ingredients didn't taste as fresh as I would like to. Especially the tomatoes and lettuce. So bottom line, try it for yourself but don't have big expectations.

Yessss! If you're on a low carb diet, the bacon cheeseburger on a lettuce wrap is so good! I get the special sauce on the side (also keto!) and it's delicious. I get this delivered and they are always SUPER fast and very reasonably priced. One of my favorite burger spots in the neighborhood!

They call it the in n out of new york city. I don't fully agree. Well we should start with the meat. You can have single, double, triple or with cheese. With about 5 to 7 topping, you can make the burger to your liking of course. Price will range from $5 to $10 as well as combo deal. It a decent deal for NYC however it can't compare with in n out price. I don't particularly like the burger much. The bun is perfect thou. Not saggy or dry like some places. My burger comes with lettuce, tomatoes and a few pickles. Lacking sauce, I found it tasteless. Cheeseburger comes with American cheese which is sad. It is 2018; you should learn to use some real cheese. Sweet potatoes fries is really good. One order can be shared with 2 people. Beside being well made, I love it's not oily and healthy. A bit pricey for such a small amount thou. This place is not busy around 2pm which surprised me. There are table for about 20 people and most people seems to order delivery. They are pretty quick turn burger around.

Again they got my order wrong I can't eat the bread so I ask for my burger wrapped in lettuce and it comes on a roll with all the sauce soaked in the bread so I had to eat a dry burger no sauce. At least this tim they gave me the pickles last 2 orders they forgot them....my last order here....plenty of $11.95 burger spots in Astoria

It's fine. It's akin to a Kennedy fried Chicken or something. Is it a bad burger? No, not at all. Really good proportions, run of the mill burger. That's not a bad thing. These are my favorite types of burgers. Heard a lot about this place but nothing super speck. Certainly not the best burger you'll ever have but a really solid option if you're in the area

Stopped by for lunch around 2pm because I was feeling something a little more filling. I decided to get the Combo #2 which is a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. They have different kinds of fries so I went with the cajun fries for $0.25 extra. You also get a canned drink with the meal! The burger was tender and tasty. The lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, and Russian dressing all were great additions to the meal. The Russian dressing gave it that "Cali burger" feel and was quite refreshing with every bite. The bun, I must say, was mediocre. I wish they had heated it up or toasted it a bit. That would have elevated the flavor and quality of the whole burger, in my opinion. The cajun fries were good. They're simply regular fries showered with cajun seasoning. I loved the fact that every fry was crispy, crunchy, and great. They were really addicting and the serving of fries can easily be shared among two people. I'm definitely a fan of this place and would recommend if you're in the mood for a burger!

i was told to try peteys burger in astoria and overall it was just ok as burger was a bit dry and fries were soggy. place has a simple cheerful decor with plenty of seats to sit and wait for your order. besides burgers, you can get wings, shakes, etc. i might give the petey another try as a few friends rave about this place and i will update my review soon.

Let's be clear, I am from California and this is by no means the "in-n-out of New York". The patties are small, you'll most certainly need the double option. The meat had little to no flavor,and the burger was sloppy. If it weren't for the paper wrapping it would be falling apart. I am giving them 3 stars for the black and white milkshake, the crunchy fries, and the service which was attentive. I'll stick to shake shack in the future even if it's a few extra miles away.

I have eaten at Petey's multiple times and think their food is delicious BUT sometimes the food does come soggy when delivered through Seamless. It truly is hit or miss when it comes to deliveries. Well today I was on Seamless looking for a place to eat. Petey's came up and I instantly clicked on their profile. Prior to ordering I had a look at their reviews out of pure curiosity. My thought process was that if the last few reviews didn't complain about late and soggy food, I'd place my order. WELL. Not only were there multiple reviews about late and soggy food - I was really put off by a ton of their responses to customers. Most of all the response I've attached here. Who says this to a customer? You're a burger joint criticizing a customer's diet and yet you make a living off selling said unhealthy food to people. So you admit that the food made her sick? WTF. Maybe put a pin on your snarky comments and learn that your customers pay your bills. Will be finding a new burger place to order from...that doesn't send me soggy food via Seamless and doesn't disrespect their customers.

Burger was great. Fries should have been thrown out! At 7 PM on Sunday the fries should not have been fried twice - it was like the days leftovers. Little pieces were dark brown and oily and bigger pieces were just greasy. Not fies anymore. Made like the cook did not care. Last order after four years.

I have been here several times over the years and I think it's a solid burger joint. The place is essentially a fast food place, the seating is very cafeteria like. The place is good for a quick meal, not really a place to wine and dine. They do a TON of deliveries. It's also a tad pricey, the cheeseburger combo was close to $10 bucks. Also, they opened up a sister store in LIC a few years back but I have yet to try. The food: #2 Cheeseburger combo- the burger is cooked through, I do wish there was other options. There is a whole slice of onion but it's not too strong but gives a great crunch and also adds a nice onion flavor to the burger. The burger is lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and a sauce that is like thousand island or a mayo ketchup combo. The burger isn't that big, but they give a shit ton of fresh cut fries. When you don't have a national burger chain in New York (this excludes fast food chains like BK and McD's), you have the solely standing Petey's...in Astoria! Of course it's not a hassle for me to take a big step to Astoria, especially when I have plenty of other food options out there. Getting a burger is one. The burgers here are definitely tasty. I've been to a lot of burger places lately and although I can't differentiate much (don't all real beef burgers taste the same?), Petey's is definitely not on the "nay" list. Nicely prepared meal with some of the best fries I've ever had from a fast food joint...they do give A LOT of fries, fairly enough for 2-3 people to share with. If you've just moved all the way from the west and feeling a little homesick from In-N-Out, Petey's is just the alternative you need.

This place is a fast food place that's VERY west coast. I've ordered delivery from here maybe like twice but upon stumbling upon them on Yelp I immediately thought to myself "OH CRAP!!! I'VE GOTTA REVIEW THIS PLACE!!!" - I also have to get food from here again when I'm in comfort food mode and in Astoria/LIC. Petey's gets 5 stars from me NOT for being a serious burger place, but for being SO MUCH BETTER than anything I've ever had at McDonald's, Burger Kind, Wendy's or any of the fast food giants who's burgers and fries are pathetic (although I DO like Mickey D's fries and their grilled chicken ranch snack wraps & premium wraps are pretty damn satisfying...). The fries here are fantastic and seasoned with more than just salt. CAJUN SEASONED FRIES are pretty much what's up. They probably have regular fries here, but why get regular when you can GO CAJUN?! Yeah, that's what I thought. Aside from their cajun fries they also sell "California Fries". These beautiful fries are thin cut, crunchy fries drowned in melted cheese and thousand islands dressing...with onions, but I hate onions so I asked for none and they delivered. Look at Petey's Burger being all "have it your way" - suck it Burger King, lol. Both times that I've eaten from here I've gone for their burger melt. OH BURGER MELT. It's like they took a hamburger, put a few slices of American cheese singles (not Kraft...more like that better melting deli type of American cheese) on top, a touch of mayo, their "special sauce" which I'm sure is their way of trying to be "In-N-Out Burger" - It's just Russian dressing, but still DELISH - and then put that shizz in a PANINI PRESSER. Oh gosh I wish I had a delicious panini pressed, juicy, saucy, cheesy burger melt in my mouth right now. I'm practically drooling here. If you're on a diet then you should definitely stay away from here. 5 stars for being a deliciously guilty, inexpensive, fast food pleasure. It's no Minetta Tavern, but they make a damn good fast food burger. Damn good.

I had been wanting to try this burger spot for awhile. I ordered the Cajun burger and sweet potato fries. The Cajun burger was just okay but I really enjoyed the fries. I liked that they had a variety of burgers you could try. The prices were average for a burger joint. I am overdue to check this spot again for some other burger items.

A great RETRO style burger! Read about this spot on Yelp and...........Loved watching the burger boys make the burgers- throw on some secret spices and "viola". $8 bucks buys you a cheeseburger, fries and a drink. "The burger"- thin patty(full of flavor), lettuce,a nice tomato, slice of onion, nicely melted American cheese and thousand Island dressing on a fresh bun. Killer "retro burger" Fries were fried to order- some traces of skin- super tasty. Water was Poland Spring. Hear the chocolate/strawberry shake combo is good for next time.

"Better than In N Out" it says on the front window. I fell for this lie and I write this review in the hopes that you won't. Burger and fries were 2x the price of In N Out and on top of that the meal was so bland that I actually felt bad about myself afterwards. There's no place to sit down inside so I had to carry my meal a mile home in this 40 degree weather. The presentation of the burger was unappetizing and the service is about as low quality as the meal. As with all bad experiences in life, I'm just grateful I now know the road that led me here so I can avoid it at all cost in the future.

So I heard most people call this the "In-N-Out" of the East Coast. I'm not necessarily sure after my first visit, but it's not a bad option if you don't want to spend a lot of money or time going to Bareburger. For one, there are a lot of different veggie patties you can choose from. I chose the Southwestern patty because I'm a fan of black bean patties. However, I'm really curious about the Greek patty. I had the regular fries with the burger. They were okay, nothing overly special. However, I must say that the portion of fries was huge, so that's a plus. I have to see what the "california" fries are about, since everyone's been trying to compare them to the animal fries at In-N-Out. Only minus was that they forgot to add cheese to my burger, but I can live with that blemish.
