Before ‘Ratatouille,’ We Had the Rat Kitchen of ‘Muppets Take Manhattan’ | Eater

"Presented in the third Muppets movie, this modest diner is run by a harried older man and his kind daughter and staffed by a crew of short-order rats led by Rizzo. Customers complain about rats as waiters, so they are reassigned as cooks, producing comic yet surprisingly efficient scenes—rats serving fried eggs, forming an assembly line for pancakes, and even buttering griddles by skating on pats of butter. The sequence plays the gag about being barred by the Health Department while also underlining that kitchen work is labor: the rats work for tips and survival rather than artistic recognition, serving as a humorous reminder to respect everyone who brings food to a table." - Jaya Saxena

The staff was very nice, polite and helpful. Food was good though be prepared to spend quite a bit. This is a spot where family celebrations can happen and a good place to go. Food was good the steak was great though could have use some seasoning, salt pepper garlic etc. nothing more than that. I asked for medium and medium is what I got. Definitely would get steak again. Gravy, was bland, not sure if it is made in-house from the steak or packet. Bread is freshly baked. The saganaki was good. I recommend to stop by and grab a meal. The old fashioned was good not sure what whiskey was used. I would go again, it is icon and been there since 1969.

Hadn't been here in a long time. S I REMEMBER the food was fantastic, cooked to perfection, waitress was awesome, and best of all well worth the money. We'll definitely be going back soon.

Excellent service, good food, nice menu. This restaurant has been around for years and if you try it, you will understand why! Easily handicapped accessible too. Back again! Excellent service and food!

We were greeted with this sign when we went in for our Christmas Eve meal. I’m aware it’s impossible to have a risk-free dinner out during a pandemic, but to just announce that you won’t be complying with a statewide COVID mitigation mandate doesn’t exactly set a great tone. We ended up ordering our overpriced food to go. Steaks were dry and unimpressive.

First time there. Excellent experience. The steak was delicious. The prime rib was out of this world. I would highly suggest anyone who is on a moderate budget check this place out.

The Waitress' service was attentive and outstanding. The Pan Fried Lake Perch lightly breaded with Flour was delicious. The Salad and Relish tray was plentiful and tasty. My Girlfriend Stefanie liked her Dinner choice as well. This franchise location has more Seating Capacity than Petey's Bungalow in Evergreen Park. However, this location closes early at 8pm on Friday & Saturday Nights so make plans to eat here before 8pm and call for a Reservation to make sure you can get in. We will definitely be back.

We were looking for a local restaurant that was quiet enough to hold table conversation. For this, Petey's was great! Our server was Debbie. She was attentive, but not overly (in a good way!). Sadly, we were shocked that a price on our yes, "MP" sandwich was $35! I'm sorry, but it was a Beef Philly, nothing special or spectacular by any means. Based on this, I'm pretty certain that we will not return.

Don't be in a hurry here! The food was ok but the lack of a waitress killed the experience. As you can see it was packed! Moving on!
