The food was great! My kids don’t finish everything and they did here! The outside vibe is awesome, it’s benches which is my type of place to eat since my 1 year old does not do good at restaurants! The service was great, very kind and welcoming. There’s a fireplace, a game and TVs! The wait for food wasn’t long at all.

Google
Good food and service. Had a big papas burrito with asada and had to take half of it home. It’s mostly an outdoor eating place and setup nicely. I’m sue the evening crowds would have an excellent experience. Check it out!

Google
Sad to say I’ve given up on this place. Been here a handful of times since it’s a good location, nice patio and decent food. However the service is not just terribly slow, but also lacking in general courtesy and common sense. Waited in the rain for almost an hour for our food last year while our kids went out of their minds and there was literally no one else on the patio. The “side tortilla” that we requested for our kids taco to help split it up came out 30 minutes after the taco itself. Okay so they had a bad day…short staffed for sure. Came back this morning for a breakfast burrito. Over $16 after tip. Lots of people working, a few on the patio and no line. Waited over 20 minutes for the burrito with no “thanks for waiting” or update on the order or anything like that. Once it came out, we asked if we could have a few chips since we decided to stay and eat. The server hesitated long enough that we understood the answer was no. Salsa bar was practically empty anyways. Eaten at many Mexican restaurants and it’s really rare to not get complimentary chips, even if it’s just a small handful on your plate. Considering their long wait times, a few chips would go a long way in keeping customers happy. Just disappointed in the lack of customer service. Not worth the wait or the price.

Google
Always a family favorite with nice shaded outdoor seating and delicious food/salsas. In the pic I ordered Potato Taco, Soyrizo Taco, and Fried Shrimp Taco. My personal fav is the Soyrizo taco.

Jaime G.

Google
It was a small hidden place on our way to an event down the street. Everything is walking distance, you can park anywhere around the location, it has two entry points. You sit outside so not recommended for rainy season, but the food was great and priced right.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Petiscos Clairmont, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a charming blend of modern and rustic decor that makes you feel right at home. The menu offers a delightful array of Portuguese-inspired tapas, each dish bursting with flavor and creativity. I particularly enjoyed the Bacalhau à Brás, a traditional salt cod dish that was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Piri-Piri Chicken was another standout, with just the right amount of spice to tantalize the taste buds. The service was impeccable, with the staff being both attentive and knowledgeable. They were more than happy to provide recommendations and ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Overall, Petiscos Clairmont is a gem that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Portuguese cuisine or simply looking to try something new, this restaurant is sure to impress.

Nestled in the heart of Claremont, Petiscos offers a delightful blend of Mexican and Portuguese flavors in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. The restaurant’s charming outdoor seating area, reminiscent of a cozy backyard, provides a perfect setting for a laid-back hangout with friends or family. The ambiance is further enhanced by rustic decor and ambient lighting, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The menu boasts a variety of delectable dishes that cater to diverse palates. During my visit, I savored the fish tacos, which were a harmonious blend of fresh ingredients and zesty flavors. The street corn, seasoned to perfection, complemented the meal beautifully. For those seeking plant-based options, Petiscos offers dishes featuring Impossible meat, ensuring that vegetarians and vegans have satisfying choices. The beverage selection, including refreshing Mexican beers and well-crafted wines, pairs seamlessly with the flavorful fare. The staff at Petiscos are attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate special requests reflect a commitment to customer satisfaction. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual meal or a leisurely evening under the stars, Petiscos provides an exceptional culinary experience in Claremont.

Google
Instant favorite! Fish tacos are killer, and worth trying. Before getting the goods, I was immediately taken by the atmosphere, and vibe of the place. The backyard style outdoor seating is so neat. I arrived during the evening, so really enjoyed the patio lights and bench tables. I tried Kobe Taco, Pork taco, and Fish taco. Immediately blown away by the fish taco. I had to get seconds. The Kobe and Pork tacos were tasty as well, but were in the shadow of the fish taco. Paired with the street corn, it's a lovely pair. Highly recommend!! Definitely coming back for the burrito.

Yelp
Good times with friends and cold beer. The Lady addition to the crew was a welcome sight. Chips and guacamole to start and a carnitas burrito with no rice this time but that didn't seem to improve it much as there is no salsa or Pico de Gallo inside. The salsa bar is clean and has several items to choose from but only the salsa Roja has any real spice to it. Glad I brought my Tapatio bottle. We enjoyed the outdoor dining and had a good time.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while I think I'll have to come more often This breakfast hit the spot sausage egg bacon potato cheese and their green salsa Make sure to come The steak they were grilling over and open flame Can't wait to comeback Service was great and the ambiance

Yelp
If you want some good homemade authentic Mexican food then you need to come here. The homemade tortillas and the fresh tortilla chips are amazing. I have been dreaming of those nachos since I left! Love all of the outdoor seating and intimate vibe it gives off and the staff are super friendly! Highly recommend

Yelp
We decided to have some tacos and Petiscos happen to be open on Easter day. We were surprised to see some of the upgrades, but the most shocking surprise was the two loud TVs playing baseball that no one was watching. To say that we were disappointed, was an understatement and reflected most people who sat around us. I am not sure what they were thinking when they decided to do this, perhaps they're trying to court a new sports crowd and if that's the case, I hope that they find it. Meanwhile, those of us who found it annoying enough to have a discussion over baseball that no one was watching will not come back. I know of a few of the restaurants who have TVs that are muted, but with close caption for those who are interested, I wish that this would have been a consideration here. Another oversight that I found a bit shocking, is that only a few tables have shade. So everybody wanted to sit at our table as most of the tables did not have any umbrellas. The calculus is a bit puzzling - - spend money on TVs, but not on shade... This is all unfortunate because I believe the shrimp tacos actually got way better! One thing for people who aren't familiar, is that you order your food at the little window and you pick it up when it's ready. This means that you also clean out your trash before you leave. So to recap, good food, nice layout (where you can find shade), and if you like loud TV with your lunch, this is for you.

Yelp
This is such a cute fun place to hang out and eat. They have buckets of beer on ice for 19.99. Their food was amazing. Salsa bar was very clean and everything was so fresh and very tasty. They had just made a fresh batch of pozole, on a Wednesday which is my daughter's favorite. She loved it. They have heaters outside which is nice and 2 TVs . The guy working there even asked us if we would like the volume up or down or no volume at all. Very nice of him. Well since the baseball playoffs r going on of course we wanted volume lol who wouldn't . Great place and we would highly recommend.

Yelp
5 stars! Been coming here with my family for quite some time and they've revamped the whole place. It's very enjoyable, hole in the wall vibes. Come here for a very filling meal any day. Might have to wait, but that's how you know it's good

TC C.

Yelp
The best Mexican food you can find in Claremont, La Verne, and Upland. They serve handmade blue corn tortillas, fresh carnitas, and really tasty micheladas, and honestly, it's some of the best I've had in a long time. It's super authentic and gives you that real Mexican flavor without having to go all the way to Mexico.

Yelp
My family chooses veggie and pescetarian options, we are never disappointed. The outdoor space makes this place feel like your own hidden gem. Great salsas, try the guac salsa, cold beers, Mexican soda, and delicious grub. My favorite is the soyrizo breakfast burrito, the elote, fish or shrimp tacos, and the Chile relleno burrito.

Yelp
The village needs more casual places to hang selling reasonably priced food like Petiscos. Too many uppity brunch spots where you feel like you have to be wearing a feathered hat and some heels or something, lol. Petiscos is perfect for a comfortable sit down, beer, food that's not going to break the bank. Was happy with the quality of food and prices, especially with how expensive things are these days. I've been to Petiscos sporadically multiple times over the years, but this last time I went this weekend I was impressed by how good the food and salsa was. I feel like it improved?? Before I never thought it was bad, it just didn't stick out to me. This time it did. Shout out to whoever is improving the recipes back there lol. I got an asada quesadilla and the asada was on point. I also love how they revamped the patio--it was a pretty hot day but they had misters going which was much appreciated, and tables with umbrellas, under trees. They also have a couple TVS now and they do beer pitchers. It seems like a chill spot to come back hang out with friends in the evening. My group all loved the our dishes. We got the papas bravas to share which was delicious, I recommend.

Yelp
I'll begin by saying that this place is really cute and belongs next to the beach in Newport , like shake shack. At $5 a taco, it should be by the beach. The customer service at the order window was great. The young man was very nice and attentive. I ordered a carne asada tacos. I got 2 and they came with cilantro and onion. I saw that they have pickled veggies so asked for a side of those. My taco doesn't come with them, they made sure I knew this when I asked for it, but it should! The salsa was good on them but the tacos are nothing special. I can't say I'll return to this place because I think it's a bit overpriced for a taco, the most simple thing you can make.
google avatar

A R.

Yelp
I've had tacos here before and they were *amazing* but unfortunately today @5:30 pm (5/20) the asada came out dry like shredded beef jerky, overly salty, and need a ton of salsa to be able to moisten and eat.
google avatar

Yesenia S.

Yelp
Love the outdoor space. Food is always good, their tamales are the best. Wish they were a little quicker with getting food out but overall a good place to eat.

Gregorio D.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito is filling and is a good portion for two people. The service was great. The seating is outdoors, but there's plenty of shade. Definitely a cool spot to hangout and enjoy food.

Yelp
We loooove Petiscos! Have been coming here for years and they consistently come through with some of the tastiest burritos, horchata, fish tacos (with the purple tortilla, classic), strawberry Fresca and so much more! Highly recommend to try, a literal hole in the wall and NEVER disappoints! The service is excellent, even when it's crowded they still move the food through quickly and efficiently! The ambience is so fun, and great for kids to walk around without feeling like they'll wander off. A place that continues to be fun, tasty and chill; all in one!

David M.

Yelp
The tortillas/fish tacos were tasty, but the burrito was very disappointing. Very greasy (and I love greasy street food), very heavy on rice, and found a large and odd cartilage/tendon in burrito.
google avatar

Lanita P.

Yelp
Yum! I like this spot! The carne asada tacos were meaty and loaded with flavor. I also enjoyed the ceviche and chips...so good. My husband ordered a carne asada burrito and he loved it. The service here is good and the wait wasn't long. This spot is close to the train depot in walking distance. Nice outdoor camp like seating.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
My friend and I had lunch there and it was good! I ordered the carne asada sope and the meat was so tender! I also ordered a potato taco and it was crispy and seasoned well! My friend on the other hand ordered the pozole Yum! She was happy and she let me taste it! So tasty and flavorful! It was a green chicken pozole! Definitely coming back! The patio was peaceful and relaxing!

Yelp
It has changed so much in a few short months and it's unfortunate because it was an absolute gem before. They say it's the same owners but there is no way they change the menu, the setup, the prices and food this much. Everything Petiscos was prior to this "upgrade" was amazing. The tacos were packed with flavor and meat. Not it's cold and half of what you got. The handmade tortillas aren't good, they are hard and fall apart. The hard shell is okay but I expected more. This is not the same Petiscos. Bring back the old grumpy guy who was rude as hell. At least the food was good. And $13 for pozole there goes my $6 bowl I enjoyed every week
google avatar

Yelp
I would have rated this restaurant a cool nice small chill vibe mexican restaurant. But The problem was that the cook and people in the kitchen preparing food are doing it without gloves on. They are basically touching your food with bare hands. I thought this was gross, unhealthy unsafe and should be flagged. Occasionally they wipe their hands on a rug or towel that didn't look vlean to me. I dont know where they would come from before touching my food but i will never visit again till this is changed.
google avatar

Jharvis L.

Yelp
Recent reviews indicate this place is going downhill with how customers have been treated. I didn't have a problem the few times I've gone before, but today it was closed even though posted hours show open at 8AM. Hard pass on this place from now on even if they update business hours.
google avatar

Denise L.

Yelp
Love the tucked away patio area, lovely place to escape. Love the cactus tacos and the Nachos are the best!! The food is always consistent and service is good as well!

Catherine M.

Yelp
Tucked into a tiny house with a backyard filled with picnic tables, this place serves up tasty tacos. It often takes over 30 minutes, but the wait is worth it.
google avatar

Dee R.

Yelp
Petisco's has pretty good food. I have tried a few things, and they are all pretty awesome. The papas bravas is killer. However, I will say that despite living a half-mile from it, I frequently forget it's there. It really doesn't stand out from the nearby shops and restaurants. The seating could definitely be upgraded, but I sorta like the casual vibe. The service is direct and to the point; they are, at times, pleasant but are mostly interested in getting the food out (which I can't really fault). I honestly think it's a pretty solid choice, but an option to order online would make me a more frequent customer.
google avatar

Julian I.

Yelp
Food was really good. Only deducted 1 star because the beer wasn't cold. Fix that and they get 5 stars.

Ana A.

Yelp
As a Southern California native we know our salsa!! Petisco's is a 20/10.. we spoke to Jesse to see why the salsa is so great and he told us that each morning they make it fresh.. they roast their peppers and chop everything each day! It shows!! This place is super special. The food is fresh and authentic and the menu is diverse. Not to mention their tortillas are excellent! It feels like you're transported to Mexico at a taco stand. The space is eclectic and really casual with picnic benches on dirt. You can watch football, have a beer and let the kids play. There are umbrellas and even heaters. We love stopping by this place for lunch but it would be a fun meeting place for a casual evening with friends and family too!
google avatar

Tracey R.

Yelp
1st time here. Ordered a fish taco that was filling & delicious. Served on a blue corn tortilla w/ good creme. GM- Alicia was so nice. Then met Laura, an owner, I was honored to tell her how I will be coming back here. The food here is so good!
google avatar

William M.

Yelp
What a great find on our visit to Claremont. Everything freshly made and reasonably priced. The pork tamale and carne quesadilla were very excellent, and the pollo taco was amazing...never had a better chicken taco. Looking forward to returning very soon!!

Darien R.

Yelp
Great food hands down! We ordered the carne asada fries and nachos. Jesse cooked and seasoned the meat absolutley perfect. We ate our food there because the vibes were super chill definately recommend.
google avatar

Bry M.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday celebration & had excellent service! The employees were so nice and generous, they helped our party out immensely. Definitely recommend coming here, the food was delicious and served warm and fresh. The vibes were chill and everyone seems to be focused on their own tables.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious like always, I love the atmosphere here, great place and service, everyone is very friendly

Yelp
I came here during lunch one day with some co-workers and was pleasantly surprised at how fantastic the location was. I decided to get some tacos and chips and dips. You park and order at a small window, the same spot where the food is being prepared. The food did take a while to get, but that is probably due to the lunch crowd. The food was amazing and tasted great and it was large quantities of meat in the tacos. There was only outdoor seating from what I can see, I might be wrong about that.
google avatar

Charley N.

Yelp
Just right! Very good food great service. Chill spot to eat and relax. Chili Relleno Burrito is bomb.
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Tacos- $5 each 3 tacos was $16.xx and change Worst tacos I ever had. Tortilla was ok ( supposedly hand made) Service- eh Hole in the wall. Green salsa was awful! Worst I ever had! So not worth it! Waste of $$$

Martha B.

Yelp
Slow service, removed vegetarian options from the past Multiple customers were also affected by the long wait time and some left without their food. 30 minutes of waiting for 1 burrito, 2 tacos, and was told it would take a while longer so I cancelled order. Was not told that the wait time would be that long or would not have ordered. Never coming here again and advising friends who enjoyed this place before the new owners to never come here again.

Yuri H.

Yelp
We had the fish, shrimp, and steak tacos. Along with a asada sope. Food was great. My wife brought me for a lunch date. I am a very picky eater. Tacos first bite. Bomb! We were not in rush so we had added a Sope for the second order. Definitely the thing I will be ordering next time. We will be coming back.

Yelp
Pickles are yummy but customer service sucks and the food is alright but nothing special. I came on sunday with my mom after walking around Claremont and we got a burrito, a tamale and a fish taco. The tamale was really cold and I probably could've made the same burrito at home but the pickles were pretty good. The waiter took our order at the window and then went to go sit down a couple tables in front of us with his partner where they started making out. If this was on a break that would've been cool however it was during his shift and when my food was ready I had to go into the kitchen and pick it up myself. Also since it's outside and they're probably understaffed it's dirty and there will be tables sitting out with old food and flies. Overall I'd probably come back for pickles but that's all tbh

John G.

Yelp
Petiscos is everything I love in a neighborhood spot: fresh food, warm vibes, and service that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. The menu is small but intentional, packed with flavor and creativity. I tried the pork belly tacos and they were absolutely fantastic. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, happy to walk us through the menu and offer great recommendations. The outdoor patio adds to the experience, perfect for people-watching or enjoying a relaxed evening with friends. Whether you're looking for a casual bite or a low-key date night, Petiscos hits the mark. I'll definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Found this little gem because I was craving tacos and it was totally worth it. Definitely a hole in the wall location. Food 4.5/5 - I ordered a cactus taco, a birria taco, pozole and a horchata. Everything was so flavorful!! Exactly what you expect it to be. Price $ - the price point was pretty good for all the food we got. It doesn't break your wallet. Service 5/5 - they were so quick and kind. Ambience 4/5 - there's patio seating which is really nice and intimate or lively depending on the crowd. Location 4/5 - it's a little shop in the Village area so there's plenty of parking on the street and you can walk in.

Yelp
Wonderful spot for breakfast burritos before farmers market or now for Taco Tuesday in the evenings. Highly recommended. Super service and atmosphere.

Patricia r.

Yelp
Oh no! It looks like there are new owners at Petiscos! Gone is the funky metal sign, replaced with a sign that lights up at night. More changes are the addition of 2 TVs and a faux axe throwing thingy. (I think that's what it is.) Nice additions to entice guests to stay longer. I don't know why--maybe they have a bar sometimes. I personally don't go there for the "stuff" but more for the outdoor vibe and good food. The stuff doesn't bother me. I only mention it because they're changes worth noticing. What made me revise my 5 star rating to j u s t a b o u t 3 is one change too many: the menu. Gone are the dishes I enjoyed most. Gone is the yummy fish selections, gone is enough Impossible meat tacos--no more Sorry We're Sold Outs, please! I'm pescatarian so Impossible is important if I'm not happy with the rest of the menu, which seems to be halibut all the time. What I liked were the variety of fish tacos not so-covered in batter that I couldn't find the fish or the shrimp. A play on Wendy's "Where's the beef," I wanna say, "WHERE'S THE FISH?" Nice staff and certainly more of them, but I would even bring back the CRANKY GUY who yelled at me for taking a cup for water if I could get the old menu back.

Melanie J.

Yelp
Waited an hour for a DoorDash pickup. When it was ready, they told me "your order was ready five minutes ago we don't know why you didn't pick it up". I literally asked them for updates twice within the hour I spent waiting for my pickup order.

Joshua R.

Yelp
Restaurants like this are the reason why I never try Mexican Cuisine in the suburbs. Horrible service.. waited 40 minutes for some cold ,flavorless al pastor fries. The clerk had attitude when we inquired about the ingredients. I've never wanted my money back so bad.
google avatar

Carol T.

Yelp
Petiscos outdoor patio got a summer glow up and it looks so good! We love coming here for a quick breakfast burrito but all their food hits!

Adriana C.

Yelp
Food is always great here, been coming with my husband for a couple months and we really love their chorizo, asada, pastor, and carnitas. Service is very quick even during their rush. Employees are incredibly friendly and accommodating to requests. The outdoor heaters are a plus!
google avatar

Vanessa Q.

Yelp
These burritos were SO GOOD. I love Laura's Poetry Garden, very nice and cozy, unfortunately it began to rain so we didn't sit and dine. To Laura, The breeze picks up Thundering skies loom above But in your poetry garden I find comfort, warmth, and love
google avatar

Paige P.

Yelp
They updated their menu and seating area and it's amazing!! Not to mention the food is always great. I recommend trying if your craving savory Mexican food
google avatar

Steph H.

Yelp
Went there for the first time yesterday and loved the food. The staff was so nice and they have a great salsa bar. You can sit outside. I love the vibe.

David H.

Yelp
My wife and I had seen this establishment and had always wanted to go, but we would run errands and forget to go. Are we glad we stopped by and tried it today. We ordered the breakfast burrito; El Gringo. So flavorful, evenly amounts of eggs, bacon, potatoes, cheese and guacamole. Only downside, we ordered one to share, next time, I'll get my own. Also, the eating area is outside and feels like a cozy backyard. The service was great; friendly, inviting and quick.

Chef W. W.

Yelp
Horrible, disappointing service. Rude. Didn't get a simple taco order for 30 mins, they ignored us then got a huge attitude when we asked for money back. What a waste of time. I'll mever be back.
