Five Bywater Bars and Restaurants Have Been Burglarized in the Last Two Weeks | Eater New Orleans

"I saw that Petite Clouet Cafe, a Bywater coffee shop about ten blocks away, commented it had also been hit a few weeks ago." - Clair Lorell

Google
This is an amazing coffee shop that knows how to make the best white mocha I have ever had! Also the temp was perfect and didnt burn my tongue off!! Huge win! The ham and cheese pastry was delicious!!!

Elisa Cool M.

Google
This place is great for the nervous system. Good vibes always. Fantastic coffee, delicious snacks including vegan and gluten free options. It's the closest thing to Central Perk (Friends reference) I ever witnessed. Laptop friendly. Dog friendly. Come as you are friendly. Love the staff. And I've made loads of personal and professional connections with neighbors here. Great place to relax, work, or get inspired.

Arkady B.

Google
Very nice people behind the counter. Mixed berries tart was excellent. The coffee is good, but does not excel (high standards) They put pretty good music, and not overly loud. Feels like a local place from another world.

Google
I love this little neighborhood gem in the sleepy Bywater. The staff are always so friendly & warm, they have the BEST dirty chai I’ve had in town (perfect amount of spice with a hint of sweetness), and their ham & swiss croissant is delicious! Great place to write, work, or catch up with a friend. AND it’s dog friendly! I have fun saying hello to all the furry friends. One of my favorite coffee shops in NOLA.

Mark W.

Google
Delicious and dog friendly. Warm people. Hot coffee. Community vibes. What more could you want from your friendly neighborhood cafe.

Kirrali S.

Google
Extremelyyy friendly staff, so joyful, adorable, welcoming, genuine, put a smile on your face when you’re having a bad day. Oat flat white was good, and loved having a vegan banana bread option! Super affordable too (compared to where I currently live in Miami haha)

Chishimba S.

Google
I stumbled into this cute little cafe while looking for a place that would be open early for a coffee. It has such a warm, open, bright atmosphere. The baristas were so lovely. I can't stand visiting cafes with pretentious baristas who can't be bothered to welcome their guests. I ordered a single shot latte and my husband ordered a triple shot latte and I must say this place knows how to pull an excellent espresso shot. Will happily come back here again when we're in town.

Google
I’d like to start off with saying that sometimes accidents happen but intention is important. Around 1 pm today—an old song with blatant racist lyrics regarding the romanization about picking cotton came on their speakers. Well, the two female workers did make casual conversation about these lyrics being harmful—it wasn’t after several dirty looks and someone reporting it did they change then remove the song. Do I believe they personally chose this song ? No. Do I believe white supremacy must be eradicated ? Yes. So therefore—all I ask is next time I get coffee there are only uplifting music because when I get coffee : I do not want to experience the disrespect of Black Americans because after all it is a blessing to get coffee without the fear of racism. I know it was whoever curated the playlist who probably found it humorous yet racism is only humorous to those who have the privilege of never experiencing it.

Yelp
What a delightful find! As I was finishing my morning walk, I stumbled upon this quaint corner bakery and neighborhood gem! I was greeted immediately as it was bustling yet calm! The selections were amazing from pastries to coffee and teas! I ordered the blueberry scones and croissants! Amazing! A very special place!
google avatar

Danielle K.

Yelp
Amazing little place tucked away in the bywater. They have so many delicious food options like quiche and tacos as well as specialty teas and coffees. I went for the coconut oolong. There's plenty of space to spread out and work and the staff is super friendly. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Sue B.

Yelp
This is such a cute place! We stopped her on a break from our bike tour. The people are very nice, the coffee is good and the pastries are delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so glad to have found this little spot that was within walking distance to where we were staying for the weekend. The barista was so friendly and there's a good amount of seating, both indoors and outdoors. I loved my latte which was decently priced, as well as the Chantilly cake slice in the display case. Refreshing and light without being too sweet, and filled with blueberries! I can imagine coming here and reading for a while and enjoying the natural light coming through. Such a great find!
google avatar

Jorge R.

Yelp
Cute little spot tucked away in the Bywater. Offers a variety of drink options and pastries. I got the gluten free chocolate torte (it was amazing) and they had a gluten free blueberry muffin. The staff was very nice and definitely would return here.
google avatar

Al I.

Yelp
A lovely coffee and pastry spot in the Bywater. Got a croissant with an egg baked into it to go with my latte, and it was delicious!
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
If you're in Bywater and need caffeine or a nice place to work or read, go to Petite Clouet Cafe, a spacious corner cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Stopping in for caffeine, my wife enjoyed the iced peach tea and I loved the iced chai latte. Service was excellent and quick!
google avatar

Tina S.

Yelp
What a gem of a coffee shop. Incredible service by the lovely baristas, so personable and kind. Great food options- croissants, quiches, pastries, yummm. Great ambiance and you can bring dogs! Will be back what a lovely way to start our day.

Brian S.

Yelp
Came here for the first time with a friend (and bumped into 3 other friends while there). Needed caffeine and the nice lady behind the counter guided me in the right direction. Even better, wanted a bite to eat and got the vegan pumpkin bread--I'm usually not much of a vegan person but this was absolutely delicious, moist & tasty, and a very ample-sized portion as well. In all, a lovely neighborhood cafe
google avatar

Mira B.

Yelp
Super cute little place. Had a small iced breve latte. Added a sprinkle of cinnamon. Yes please! All 3 of us loved our drinks.

Theresa G.

Yelp
My dry, decaf, soy milk, cappuccino was perfect!! Both times! At other cafes 99% of the time they are a waste of money, but not at this lovely little cafe. Nice people, good pastries, too.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Suchhh a great cafe in the area. So cute inside and everything we got was so good -- two iced teas (loved my 1/2 coconut oolong 1/2 white peach) and a splendid key lime pie. Also loved the vegan turmeric blueberry cookie

Ragazza P.

Yelp
I came here every morning during a recent stay in NOLA to get coffee and do some work. The cafe au lait and their version of Vietnamese coffee are great, the croissants are delicious, and the staff is super friendly. Plus there's excellent people-watching. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Yasssss!!! I randomly found this place while on a walkabout! A few things I love: - great espresso - they even gave complimentary soda water. That's how you know they're the real deal, baby! - friendly staff - and, get ready for this one, the typeface warms my heart! It is some sort of classic Belleville/upper east side typeface that empties French vibes. Really adds to the vibe. - speaking of vibes, the atmosphere is great too. Super welcoming. Oh so cozy!

Yelp
Cozy, breezy cafe that blends indoors with outdoors. Cute dogs strolling in throughout the day. So many tempting pastries and savory little dishes to try. We came in the early afternoon, only a few items left. Tried the ube brownie, which was different. Kind of sweet and not too ube, but that was ok. Really liked the tomato spinach croissant, luckily we got the last one. Also recommend the hibiscus lemonade, was light and refreshing. Despite being run by 1 person on the weekend we were there, they were efficient and welcoming
google avatar

Johnny V.

Yelp
The most magical little cafe in New Orleans. Great coffee and if you're lucky you'll get to hear some local musicians play while you enjoy your afternoon here.
google avatar

Nademah Z.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, food, and customer service. My absolute favorite spot to visit in the mornings.
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
One of the best spots for coffee in town. Staff are friendly and attentive and the snacks are wonderful, Mollie is a peach and Kyle is a true talent in the coffee department.

ReNee V.

Yelp
I've already made a review before regarding their cafe su da which is incredible and can wake someone up from a coma, but I'm here to talk about the king cake iced latte. I've been a little hesitant to try their iced lattes because I couldn't imagine liking it as much as their Vietnamese iced coffee, but I stand corrected. Great balanced flavor and delicious syrup!
google avatar

Shadia A.

Yelp
This hidden gem was is the most exciting stop I made after my morning runs. I stayed in the area for couple of days and I had the pleasure to find this amazing place. Everything looked amazing and I couldn't make up my mind so I tried few of their items and everything was delicious and freshly made. Very friendly atmosphere and the coffee was delicious. We tried savory and sweet, pastries/food and we enjoyed all of it. I highly recommend it and will certainly return every time I'm in the area.

Jodi C.

Yelp
Had an iced dirty chai and chocolate torte. Both were delicious! Wonderful atmosphere and great service.
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
This coffee shop is absolutely adorable and the service was excellent. They have different milk alternatives which is great for those who don't have dairy. The coffee was probably one of the better cups of coffee I had in the area. You can also buy pastries and for those trying to save a few pennies you can buy day old pastries which are equally as good. I had the day old ham and cheese croissant which was perfect and the almond croissant Fresh which was delicious.
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
Great spot. Great coffee! Love the sofa inside. Its so comfortable. They also has super fast wifi also. Speed test doesn't lie:) I also like that it's dog friendly. I don't have a dog but I enjoy watching them play. Shout out to my favorite barista Kyle there!

Yelp
This place was a godsend at the onset of the epidemic but he stayed open - with masks which is silly considering you are there to eat and drink with your mouth - and now the joint is pippin. It appeals to a particular age .. the everlasting all day long coffee with computer age. Lots of those boys and girls sitting in the most comfortable seats. But I don't think they're on their minds. Lol. The pastries are good but they look better than they are. I've heard some complaints about the pastries, but I think that Keylime pie is terrific. They also provide free baked bones for the dogs And Ive seen people come in and just take a bone without even buying anything the owner doesn't mind about that either. Satsuma was always the only game in town and it's still got great food and coffee but this place is nice for people down at this end near the railroad tracks. Just a little bit of almost elegance for the folks almost in Marigny.

Thor B.

Yelp
I like this place a lot, but lately I've felt like the espresso pours have been inconsistent. Sometimes the espresso tastes terrific and sometimes it just tastes okay. I used to work in coffee, so I know they could solve this easily with a quick reminder of how to pour the best espresso shot. Overall a great place, though

Yelp
I loved this place! What a fun, young, positive vibes kind of place! We were at a nearby thrift store and wanted an afternoon coffee. Yelp pointed us in this direction and I am glad that it did. I had a cold brew that tasted like real coffee! Yay! My hubs had the white peach tea that was the perfect amount of sweetness. Did I mention the cookies? Lawd have mercy! The ginger molasses cookie was the best cookie ever!! We were disappointed when they sold the last one while we were deciding to go back for seconds. Oh well- I snooze, I lose! Next time I will get more. Can we talk about the dogs? Cute dogs of all shapes and sizes came in with their friendly humans on a leash. Hunter told us hi and came to greet us at our table. I love dogs so I was content just to sit there and wait for the next canine to walk in. The owners were friendly and checked on us to make sure all was well. Forget the chain coffee shops that don't know what good coffee is or tastes like. Come here. It is worth it!

Yelp
Best little cafe in the area, great coffee, food and atmosphere. We always make PC a priority when visiting New Orleans.
google avatar

Antoine S.

Yelp
AWESOME. Super hipster in a very cute neighborhood, AND I got a free banana. What more to ask?

Kelsey Z.

Yelp
The best coffee and shop in the city. Even on days when I can't afford coffee I go because it brightens my morning. So relaxing 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Doing work in the Bywater and stopped in for a bite and a place to get a little computer work done. This place is everything you want in a neighborhood corner cafe. Hot and cold drinks made well, limited but well-chosen food options from local bakeries, a self serve cooler with very nice selections that will appeal to most palates and just a nice, chill comfortable atmosphere. Had the Berry pound cake, a Cappucino and a Quiche Lorraine that was CRAZY good. I wanted a second piece but restrained myself. Just. Service was provided by Emily who was EXCELLENT. Will definitely have to find my way back here again......
google avatar

Grace R.

Yelp
Excellent pastries and wonderful staff. Very cute and a great location. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
solid study spot! so when i started to venture back out, this is one of a few spots where i felt I could tuck away at a corner table outside to do some work and feel ok. they also had doors and windows flung open to optimize all possible fresh air flow. of times i've been, 100% mask compliance by staff and guests for all inside interactions. the drinks are good, and they run a daily "happy hour" (well, hours) on caffeinated bevs in afternoon. i've also enjoyed the the pastry and food offerings (not sure if produced in house or via a vendor). you can get ham and butter sandwiches, tortes, really yummy pies, and even whole baguettes to take home.

Yelp
We're excited to have this new coffee shop/cafe in the Bywater. It's beautiful inside with a couch and seating, they also have outdoor seating. Today they had live music outside which was awesome. Also happy hour half off coffee and espresso drinks. The iced coffee was great, they have grab and go burritos and salads (breakfast tacos and burritos from Rosalita's) We met the owner who was very nice. Also our puppy loved the dog treats and water bowl. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
What an absolute new treasure...in the Bywater/Marigny on Royal Street. Cozy, comfortable ...warm and inviting. Opening the door, the aroma of freshly ground, brewing coffee caught my attention. Crawford Malone the owner, greeted me and made me feel welcomed. He answered all my questions regarding "each" enticing item. I wanted one of each! LOL I ordered the turkey, bacon, cheese, arugula lettuce with spicy Chipotle chutney on crunchy fresh ciabatta bread. The flavors were pefectly balanced... very filling and satifying....so delicious....really soooo delcious! The Croissant was Ooo La La ....closed my eyes and I was back in Paris. Perfection! My Cold Brew was smooth, rich with coffee flavor. Many selections to choose from....they grind and blend Petite Clouet Coffee. The coffee condiment bar had Agave syrup, simple syrup, several choices of milk products and other types of sugar/sugar substitutes. Everything in the cafe was absolutely top quality with affordable prices. Outside seating, lots of seat choices inside, a very nice knowledable Barista, dog friendly and a fantastic location.....this Petite Clouet Cafe is not to be missed. P.S. Where is the picture of my sandwich? Opened the wrapping...took one bite....could not stop eating to take the photo......sorry...next time.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it was delicious and all the ingredients tasted super fresh! The Barista was super friendly and super sweet!
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
your typical coffee shop, if i'm being completely honest. there was nothing bad, nothing particularly mind blowing, but i enjoyed it! the viet iced coffee was a little watery but the flavor was still pretty good. i got a slice of quiche, expecting them to warm it up in the oven. instead i was directed to a microwave. the quiche was good though, would probably be better if it hadn't been microwaved but alas... the interior was cute, and they have some cute tables outside. would visit again!
google avatar

Blake B.

Yelp
Could not recommend enough. Emily and Belinda are blessings to this coffee loving country we call America. They deserve a RAISE. If they aren't in there the next time I'm here, I will turn around and bring my business elsewhere.
google avatar

Thomas M.

Yelp
Great find in the Bywater. Thanks for opening during the pandemic. Wonderful inside atmosphere plus charming sidewalk bistro table seating. Coffee is great as are the fresh pastries. Coffee happy hour from 2 to 6 pm offers great prices on coffee drinks.
google avatar

Jeido J.

Yelp
Tried this spot for the first time today (I live on the other side of the city so I don't always get over this way), and was kinda disappointed. I'm leaving 4 stars so that their algorithm doesn't get totally ruined because the spot was cute and people where nice but our food this morning was terrible. I ordered a quiche and a pre-made sausage egg and cheese bagel, both were served cold without anyone offering to heat them and warm them up. Cold clammy egg and tough cold bagel/sausage is not a pleasant experience. If I stop by again some time for drinks I won't be getting any food to go along with it. Again I don't wanna come down on this place since I'm in the service industry and know how hard it is for everyone right now so that's why I'm not leaving 2 starts etc. just want them to think about heating/prepping to order their food if they are doing any kind of dine-in/outdoor dining.
google avatar

Kiersten L.

Yelp
Just got the spinach, tomato and feta croissant and it was sooooooooo good. I sent my boyfriend in so of course he didn't ask for it warmed but it was still amazing room temperature. I also got the vanilla iced oatmilk latte which was perfect. I definitely will be back!

Kim D.

Yelp
I was literally here the entire day (felt like it). I came by for a virtual meeting & ordered an iced coffee. The WiFi wasn't working too good so I left for a while had lunch and returned to try the hibiscus mango tea, which was very tart, but still good & refreshing. I spent most of my time reading. It's such a bright, cozy, welcoming space. Dog friendly too!
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
Great coffee, but appeared to have absolutely no concern for COVID-19 when I visited. I felt like I had stepped into 2019, especially compared with other cafes I go to in the city. Every seat was full in the small space with barely any room to maneuver around unmasked people to get to the counter. Serve yourself food items. No designated or spaced out areas to line up or wait. Nope. Not returning.
google avatar

Roc R.

Yelp
cool spot. seating available outdoors and indoors. social distancing in full effect. got a tasty hot chocolate because I drink hot beverages all year round. would definitely pop back in this cafe for a to-go drink.
google avatar

Marcus V.

Yelp
Friendly barista and really good vibes! Got the hibiscus mango tea and worked on laptop for a few hours
google avatar

Lindsey M.

Yelp
Great spot in the Bywater. Cute ambience, friendly staff, and nice outdoor seating. Try the quiche & iced coffee.

Nancy T.

Yelp
The pastry is stale, they don't take cash - and don't plan to. No covid/mask wearing for those in the space. Its a great location, just not a great place.

Graham D.

Yelp
Great coffee shop overall. The employees wear masks for social distancing, and there are places to sit outside with a beautiful view of New Orleans' Bywater neighborhood. Wonderful ambiance, delicious coffee, and pastries that are out of this world. Also be sure to try the tacos and burritos. Where else can you go to get all of the above? No where!

Alison L.

Yelp
the coffee, the staff, the setting and the ease of getting there some of the freshest pastries anywhere

Michael C.

Yelp
I had a 2 week trip to NOLA and stayed in the Bywater. I tried every cafe in the neighborhood. Many were good or even great but Petite Clouet stood above them all. First of all, the espresso was the best. The Vietnamese coffee was outstanding and a welcome variation. Lots of tasty baked goods, especially the croissant selection. And a few choice items to go- artisinal meats and cheeses, baguettes and batards from a local bakery. And the service was fantastic!!!
