This is a really nice bakery. I stopped by to get a few sweets for a birthday celebration and I was very impressed with the slices of cake. I got the key lime tower which was my favorite! It had the gram cracker bottom and tasted amazing. We also tried the berry dessert special, as well as the strawberry passion. All 3 were delicious. The girl serving me was fast and friendly, the dining area was clean, and the coffee was on point. Definitely a nice spot to visit when passing through.

I stopped by for breakfast today and had such a lovely experience! Makenna (I hope I got the spelling right!) took my order, and she's just a delightful, friendly young lady. Mackie was super sweet, too—she brought my coffee and the All Day Bum to my table with a smile. I ordered the Greek Bowl, and let me tell you, it was filling and bursting with flavor! It's such a great way to start the day!

Google
I came for the pancake breakfast with bacon and eggs. Everything was good except the bacon. It tasted different. Perhaps it wasn't pork. I didn't get any pastries but will next time. They looked really good. You order and pay at the counter. Grab your napkins, silverware, and water at the self serve station then grab a table. They will bring your order. I would come back to give the pastries a try.

Google
Disgusting! Got the "must try pastry" to go. Bit into it and it immediately leaked EGG YOLK. Why? It was a traumatic experience. Ruined my breakfast. Called and complained. They offered a different pastry. But I won't be back. Not that it matters, they have plenty of customers that will eat anything.

Google
It’s such a cute and nice place to eat right off of coast highway in Oceanside. The food was delicious, staff were nice, and they had so much seating inside. The pastries they offered were so cute and delicious! I took my mom here for Mother’s Day breakfast….definitely recommend!

Google
I can highly recommend this diner. We ate here every day and everything tasted great. The value for money is excellent and the service is very good.

Google
I was looking for a place to have lunch and found this spot on google maps: definitely did not disappoint. Nice and chill atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly delicious food. I went for a salad but the selection of other options like sandwiches, toasts, etc is big. Go check it out when in Oceanside.

This is a great place to eat. The food was good, the service was warm and friendly.

Yelp
A surprise visit to this little bistro in Oceanside, California. Family Sunday brunch. I had a really nice mimosa with the Greek scramble, which was scrambled eggs with spinach, artichokes and tomatoes over hash browns topped with a lemon crema and feta cheese! The taste of the Mediterranean in my mouth! Mimosa wet really well with this. Also had the 12oz cappuccino and a Madeline cookie- obvs. The fam had the famous chicken and waffles eggs Benedict; The Florentine - an omelette with spinach served with hash browns and then the ham and cheese croissant. The food is filling The service is good, got to meet the lovely owner and the staff are friendly. Really chill atmosphere- perfect for Sunday brunch. People were relaxed and lingering and enjoying their food and company. A great place to refuel and recharge- any day of the week. The coffee is great!!!! Forget about St Arbucks - go here for the coffee! Thank me later. There are loads of cakes and pastries- got a sample plate of everyday bun. Madeline's, peppermint chocolate cookie and shortbread holiday cookie. Wish we took more pics!

Yelp
We've started going to Petite years ago when they offered table service. Now the experience is quite different. You grab a menu when you walk in, and line up to place your order. This place is small, so you'll see people scoping out a table almost immediately. Once you're seated you almost don't get service. There were times we got our food before getting our drinks (water and black coffee). There were times we had to ask for drinks, even after waiting for 10 minutes. Now water is self serve, which is good. Food. * Smoked Salmon Benedict. Nothing to write home about for this one. It was pretty basic, but they used to make the hash browns extra crispy! Mmmmmm those hash browns were cooked perfectly! Now they're way flat, and not crispy at all. Please bring back the crispy has browns, even people next to me would ask "do they always make them like that" because they use to be so good! Even my boys would eat them up. Pastries. This is where they hit home. Almost every pastry I've had has been top notch! The bear claw is the best I've had in a very long time. Even the savory ones such as the ham and cheese croissant are memorable. They make their croissants in house and specialize in a lot of their pastries, I can't even remember them all! So definitely try a pastry if you're in the area! Drink. The chai latte with oat milk is divine!!! It's creamy goodness in a cup so perfect, and a new fave! They make special pies around the holidays. We had the banana one last year and it was gone within minutes! Street parking can be tricky, even early mornings. Petite has my heart, but boy I wish they'd bring back those hash browns and some of the previous staff. Everyone used to be so friendly and personable. There are a lot of new faces now, which happens - but some of them don't even seem to be happy to be there.

Yelp
My family and I absolutely love coming to Petit Madeline!! Everyone is always so friendly and accommodating, making sure that my grandma and I have a seat even during the busiest of times. We have been coming here for years to enjoy their delicious lattes, mochas, and flavorful breakfast dishes. My grandma loves the eggs benedict in particular and orders it every time! As a vegan, I always go for the avocado toast and a side of home potatoes. We both enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant with tons of natural light, beautiful plants, and now, cozy Christmas decor!! So if you're in the mood for a tasty satisfying breakfast in a setting sure to uplift your spirits, give Petit Madeline a try!!!

Yelp
Cool place in downtown Oceanside with great latte and breakfast options. Some nice artwork on-site. Outdoor dining available.

Yelp
We stopped by after the Thursday market when looking for a bite for breakfast. It was pretty busy but we seen they had patio seating. At this spot, you order first then find a seat. After we ordered we were lucky to find a seat inside. Our food came out promptly. I just sat, everything we had was delicious. It was a great portion to start the day! The bread was soft and fresh. I enjoyed their service and would definitely comeback when in the area again.

Yelp
One of my favorite cafes in Oceanside. The service is wonderful, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food; specifically the danishes and Benedict's are AMAZING. It's the perfect setting to get work done or a read a book. Their hot lattes are always frothy and the highlight of my morning!
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem! Excellent pastry and laid back casual-- outdoor seating as well. Will definitely return in the future when in the area.

Yelp
It was ok... Every time I'm in town, I've try to stop by for some pastries, but this time a bit lacking. Pastries themselves were good, but the service was lacking. 1. We ordered for inside and were instead paper cups for coffee. 2. The order was incomplete. After noticing this, had to go back to get it corrected. 3. Cookies (dozen we ordered) was not placed in box as we expected but put in a bag. Overall, just felt like we were rushed out. One begins to question, is it the way we look or the color of my skin?

Yelp
Finally, I got to try Petite Madeline out this past weekend. Oh my! Their range of pastries was outstanding. I was able to try the key lime tower and spinach feta croissant. They were both delicious! Service was fast. It was pretty busy when we were there but fortunately found a table to enjoy our goodies. I can't wait to go back and try something off of their menu.

Yelp
Between March and August of 2024 I would stop by here in the morning and I typically received great service! However, I went today and the service I received was horrible!! All I ordered was a chocolate croissant and I had asked for it warmed up. When I arrived, there was no one in line. There were 2 people waiting for their orders, one with a suitcase and another lady. They both were waiting on drink orders. I placed my order at 8:26am, and the employee that took my order was friendly put my order in the oven right away. As I was waiting a group of 3 people came in and starting placing their order, as they were placing it 2 more people came in and the 2 individuals that were there before I got there received their orders. The employee that was making the drinks was occupied and another employee, I believe her name was Angie, came out, stood next to the employee that was taking a group's order then proceeding to turn around and start working on their order. At this time, my pastry had been in the oven the entire time with no one monitoring it. When I realized no one was going to check on my order, I went to the side of the counter and asked if someone could please get my pastry out as it had been there for 5 to 10 minutes. Angie at this time slowly made her way over there and took it out, I asked her if it was burned and she told me no. I then left. I got to my car and headed to work, took a bite of my pastry and it was burned/crispy, as it fell apart once I bit into it. I called the shop and asked if I could speak to a manager and Angie was the one that answered the phone. She stated that the manager (Rachel) was not in but she would be in later. I told her what my concern was and that my pastry was burned. She told me "no it was not burned," I asked her if she cut the pastry and looked on the inside cause it was to me. A chocolate croissant should not smell like burned chocolate. She took my name and number down and told me that she would give Rachel, the manager, my contact information to call me today. The shop closes at 2pm, and I had not received a call back so I called them again. I was told my Macky (I believe that is how you spell it), that Rachel was no longer in but that she was in earlier that morning. I asked what time she had left and she stated around 10am. But I was told that she was not there when I spoke to Angie.

Yelp
Cute Restaurant with a diner like atmosphere. I live in San Diego but wanted to explore Oceanside so took the train up (apprx 30 min from downtown San Diego). Even though it was after 12:00 pm on a Sunday, I still wanted breakfast. So I looked up breakfast spots and Petite Madeline Bakery came up. It did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly, but it did take a little while to get my food (even though it wasn't that busy. That's the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. I ordered the egg croissant sandwich with spinach, feta cheese, & tomatoes. It was reasonably priced at $11 for the area. I also ordered a side of their "lemon creama" which tasted and looked like lemon butter to put on my croissant sandwich. It was delicious and very filling for me. I will be returning to try their other dishes and to also try one of the lovely display of pastries.

Yelp
The eggs benedict lived up to the reviews! There were 3 different versions: traditional (with Canadian bacon), California (bacon, avocado and tomatoes) and salmon. We had the traditional and California. The English muffin was nicely toasted. The poached eggs were perfect, with lovely yokes, the hollandaise sauce was delicious. They came with a choice of potatoes. I requested "crunchy" hashbrowns and they were just as ordered. Treat yourself to a great eggs benedict. Delicious brunch. Cute little place. Right downtown. Friendly service. Street parking.

Yelp
I had always passed by this bakery, but never went inside until one day I decided to give it a try and I fell in love with it. New go-to chill spot for me for breakfast/lunch or getting work done. The staff is so friendly and kind plus the wait time is minimal. Food has a pretty display and the blueberry danish is a must try!
google avatar

Desiree P.

Yelp
The staff at the establishment were pleasant. I ordered a 16oz cappuccino but was disappointed to find it wasn't filled to the expected level for the larger size/price. Additionally, the drink was served too hot, resulting in a burnt tongue. Addressing these issues would improve the overall experience.

Yelp
Stopped here in the morning because I really wanted an almond croissant. It was a pretty good croissant. My kids devoured the muffin, and I enjoyed my latte. There were so many beautiful desserts that I would love to come back and try, and a great breakfast selection as well! Parking was easy, and it had a convenient location. There is a good amount of seating inside as well. Everything came out quickly. This is a solid morning option in Oceanside

Yelp
What a find this is! Like stepping into a French bistro! I came for lunch and ordered the Honey Chipotle Turkey sandwich, added avocado and cream cheese at the servers suggestion- it was fantastic! I got it with a side salad and took it to the beach for a quiet lunch break... perfection all the way! Also got the lemon oatmeal pecan cookie for a sweet treat - highly recommend...

Yelp
Well just wow here. We went into this place on a tip and it was insane, and I mean everything was insanely delicious. From the fresh baked pastries to the carrot cake, mouthwatering, jaw droppingly delicious. I don't know that I need to go on and on here, there is simply magic happening in here. The staff was epic and on point, the line moved very fast and efficiently, the fresh baked pastries, pies, etc. were all on full display to make to start to salivate before you were ever close enough to order. I had the carrot cake, haven't any that good since my mothers and she passed in 84, so I have been looking a very time. My wife, son, and daughter all enjoyed their food beyond what any had imagined. I recommend you get here soon if you want to see what truly well made pastries, cakes, pies, and food taste like.

Yelp
Went to Petite Madeline today (10/26 10:00 AM) for the first time in several years and I will definitely be visiting more often. The food: Chicken Salad Sandwich on a croissant and side of fruit- delicious and fresh! Seasonal Pumpkin cake was moist with the perfect hint of pumpkin spice and orange. The best part of the visit was really the service. The staff was so warm and friendly! I appreciated that an employee will put a reserved sign on a table for you while you are waiting in line to order. I heard her tell an elderly customer that they don't take reservations but they have a table just for her and I thought it was so sweet. It was nice to know I didn't have to stress about a table being open after I finished ordering and seemed to eliminate people being able to take over tables before ordering. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Solid breakfast and satisfying dessert! So much to choose from, so our waiter helped us with a couple of choices. Need to come more to try it all lol. Whether you're coming for sweet or savory, I don't think you'll leave disappointed. Interior is very pretty as well
google avatar

Yelp
The Petite Madeline bills itself as a Patisserie - but the pastry offerings are meager- and the pastries on offer are average; even once heated they were still cold inside- and the 'all day bun' was doughey - not flaky. The chicken and waffles eggs Benedict was good- but the chicken had the quality of something 'premade' - and the waffle is too sweet to my taste for a savory breakfast dish. Further - while the service was very pleasant, the cash register tip selection made a negative impression. It STARTS with 20%, then goes up to 25%. This is SO off putting, because this is a walk-up order counter where you also grab your own utensils and napkins. I've edited my review because i think i was reacting more to the on-screen tip request than to the actual food and experience.
google avatar

Laisa I.

Yelp
Girl, the California Eggs Benedict were so delicious. I felt welcomed and greeted with warm smiles. I enjoyed my food along side with some good music. I'm not from here but I'm definitely coming back. Thank you

Yelp
Best French-style bakery in the north bay! Every time we stop by (and if they haven't sold out already!), we just have to nab us a few chocolate croissants, which is our absolute favorite pastry here. We have also tried the eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwich, and cheese danish here - all completely delectable, 10/10, and so buttery and flaky! I just want to bathe in the folds of their buttery croissants - PM truly know what they are doing.
google avatar

Alexander E.

Yelp
This is a nice little French bakery. My kids absolutely devoured their muffin. My coffee was good, as was my wife's almond croissant. Nothing remarkable, but solid overall.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
It was just ok. Nothing was spectacular. Coffee ok. Croissant ok. Super nice service!!
google avatar

Trixie O.

Yelp
Love this spot! It's cute and quaint (think Luke's Diner in Stars Hallow iykyk) and the staff are all very attentive and friendly. My favorite thing on the menu is the Smoked Salmon Croissant Sandwich. Delish! Don't skip dessert. I had an amazing apricot danish and fruit tart here. I look forward to trying more.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Love going here for breakfast after the farmers market on Thursday. Omelettes are huge, Potatoes are delicious, and coffee is good!

Mary K.

Yelp
Stopped by on a whim on my way back to my hotel. Picked up several pastries once I saw the assortment of deliciousness on display. While each I've eaten so far has been excellent, please don't let the relatively high price of the 'plain' croissant steer you away. BY FAR the best croissant I have ever eaten. Clearly made with love and care. The superb service with a smile made this a guaranteed stop the next time I find myself in Oceanside to escape the 5 degree weather at home.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Took myself to brunch this morning and enjoyed the California Eggs Benedict at Petite Madeline Bakery. My dish was absolutely scrumptious melt in your mouth creamy goodness. The English muffin was toasted well and the egg poached to a light and airy perfection. With the Eggs Benedict, you can choose home fries or hash browns. I chose hash. It's order up front, pay and then sit down in their quaint dining room or outside. The service was friendly and my dish came out at a decent time. They also have a fabulous selection of pastries, breads, and cakes. Looking forward to trying their homemade croissants next time!

Jamal H.

Yelp
Learn how to make pancakes that aren't extra dry and crumbly. Also sausage should be real not pressed frozen links that you would get at Winco in the freezer. Also someone came and asked for 10 cents for a bag for my Togo order. I should have told them to take it out of $10 I tipped. Generous for a to go order.
google avatar

Christine E.

Yelp
I was wanting hot cross buns this Easter and they are hard to find. Heard they had some so I walked on over. Oh my goodness! Brioche bun, tender and delicious studded with fruit and the cross icing was delicious. I was so happy that they made them!
google avatar

Charlie B.

Yelp
A warm and homey brunch café offering delicious egg dishes as well as exquisite pastries. Friendly servers operate like a choreographed dance team, assisting patrons with finding tables, keeping them apprised of cook times, checking frequently to fill any needs or questions throughout the meal. The food classic, yet innovative, plentiful and very tasty. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
9-4-23: After deciding to explore Oceanside this morning and look for breakfast, I came upon Petite Madeline. Much to my surprise, they had Gluten Free French Toast with Rice Flour Bread (which for someone with both Tree Nut and Gluten Allergies is AWESOME). Friendly Staff, Great Selection of Baked Goods and Food in a nice corner of Oceanside. Will be back.
google avatar

Naz K.

Yelp
Wife and I enjoyed our breakfast at Petite Madeline, I ordered the avocado toast with smoked salmon , was not the best Avocado toast I ever had but it was good. Place was comfortable and clean , staff were polite extremely professional. Bakery items were delicious
google avatar

Hugh N.

Yelp
Been eating here for years. The service is always friendly and local. The food is fast, fresh, and affordable. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and my mom got the savory crepe. Both are pretty hardy. And of course the baked pastries here are fresh every day and are the quintessential french baked style (I think)
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
This place was great. We actually went here both mornings we were in town for breakfast. Good service and lots of options. Seems reasonably priced for the area and near the beach and downtown. They make all of their pastries in house. Very tasteful!
google avatar

Cory S.

Yelp
Love this little place. It's my go to for breakfast when I'm in Oceanside. Good quality, great tasting food that's reasonably priced. Friendly staff with good service. What's not to like?
google avatar

Lynette S.

Yelp
Stumbled in to this sweet cafe while staying in Escondido on vacation. The frittata in a bowl was the perfect combination of light, fluffy and moist. I had them replace the potatoes with sausage. Delish! The decaf Americana with steamed heavy cream was also very good.
google avatar

Michele G.

Yelp
Great place for takeaway pastry and coffee or sit down and order all the deliciousness. Good vibe, casual, comfortable. Good coffee, will be a regular spot

Marcus L.

Yelp
Petite is a must when you visit Oceanside. Their pastries are to die for and have such a helpful crew. I stopped by for breakfast and had an Egg Frittata bowl and I couldn't stop talking about the breakfast potatoes. If I could give them 10 stars I would!
google avatar

Jenny Y.

Yelp
The chocolate pyramid cake was VERY good but they seem to advertise their croissants more with their several day proofing. I wanted to get another cake but they seemed a bit dry, having their cut sides exposed. I might have been wrong since I did see quite a few people dining there on a weekday morning. The croissants did not impress as much as the cake. In fact, they felt a bit dry, especially compared to the croissants I found in the Farmer's Market that day.
google avatar

Kelsea F.

Yelp
Such a splendid location. We arrived with welcoming smiles and great conversations. Ended up starting with coffee and a key lime tower which blew us away. For myself I ordered their crispy chicken sando which was just so well executed. Cooked to perfect chicken with a crunchy and not overbearing crust, a little kick with chipotle cooled down by the honey aspect. Then my partner ordered his California Benedict. He is such a picky egg eater that he normally avoids orders like this but for some reason he just craved the dish and man did they deliver! He crushed his entire meal. We sat to enjoy the nice environment with sun shining all around through the glass windows and we will definitely be returning next time we stop by Oceanside. It's our favorite California getaway and we whit the jackpot with this brunch find. Thank you so much to all the staff that helped us enjoy our time.
google avatar

Ella M.

Yelp
We love coming here, I always order a dessert as they are just too good to pass up. My favorite is the chocolate pyramid, omg it is delicious. This is also one of my favorite spots for brunch, the food is so good and the vibe here is really mellow.

Yelp
The food was delicious!! Had the blueberry cheese danish and it was amazing!! My husband had the eggs benedict and LOVED it!!
google avatar

Yelp
Their custom cake are so beautiful and delicious! My daughter's mermaid themed cake was a huge hit at her party, and it was also incredibly tasty.

Yelp
Ok, on vacation in Oceanside for six weeks and have had breakfast here over a dozen times. Food is consistently good and served timely. The setting is pleasant and clean. When you add the wonderful service and attitude of the owners and their fantastic staff, always a hello, smiles and a good bye / thank you! Very nice overall experience indeed!
google avatar

Jerry S.

Yelp
We weren't even interested in having any bakery treats but we drove past and decided to pop in to check it out for the next time. We decided to stay because everyone looked so happy and everything looked so good. Fabulous! Service was kind, patient and engaging. Tables were clean and so was the restroom. We were completely pleased with each bite. Coconut macaroon (not macaron), almond tea cake, thumbprint cookie w/ raspberry, and a madeleine.| Owners were hard at work which is very telling of their standards...high! I can not stress enough how fresh and delicious everything was. The prices are ridiculously fair. Thank you! This was the best part of our day trip. Also, a review from John H. is snobbish and condescending.
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
We stumbled across this bakery on our road-trip to San Diego and it did not disappoint! Everything from the vegan peach doughnut to the butter croissant to the lavender latte was AMAZING! They have alternative milks for coffee and a wide variety of food. This is not a place to go if you are in a hurry because it took some time to get our coffee and treats - but it was worth it. I will be going back just for those croissants - they were some of the best (possibly the best) I have ever had!
google avatar

Yelp
Very friendly staff, great customer service, food was awesome and the pastries are fresh! Definitely recommend

Yelp
Went to Petite Madeline a couple of weeks ago to have some sweet treats. So many beautiful treats to choose from. Chocolate pyramid (wow!), carrot cake, key lime tower. All good. They also had a Christmas menu and I ordered the Christmas cake. It was so beautiful. This was the first time I had one. It was amazing. It had buttercream icing, chocolate and raspberry swirls, little pearls, and candy-type marbles. The colors were subdued and it reminded me of the ocean. So pretty. I was very impressed and very delighted.
