I stopped by Petrova Chocolates in the North End recently and I’m so glad I did. The place just opened and it’s already one of my favorite new spots. They have a great selection of wines from Eastern Europe, some I had never even heard of before and the staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. The real star though is the chocolate. The bonbons are absolutely gorgeous and taste even better than they look. You can tell they put a lot of care into making them. I tried a few different flavors and honestly couldn’t pick a favorite. They were all amazing.

North End’s new gem! The handcrafted chocolate bonbons and bars are unreal, and the Eastern European natural wine selection? So good. The vibe is super chill, and the service is warm and friendly — such a great spot to treat yourself!

Wow, the chocolates were really delicious. Very very yummy. I loved the tonka bean and mango lassi. Expensive but great for a special occasion. They also have good interesting wines.

Such a cute storefront with a great selection of chocolates and natural wines and a very kind and knowledgeable staff. I got bonbons and a coconut milk chocolate bar and both were some of the best chocolate I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this chocolatier, a great location and new gem in the North End!

Gorgeous little wine and chocolate shop on Salem! We stopped in for a wine tasting and loved the orange wine from Greece. The chocolates are beautiful!

Such sweet owners and staff and the space is beautiful. The wine tasting was lovely and their truffles to die for! They have beautiful cards as well. Highly recommend for all things one-stop-shop gift giving!

This store is a gorgeous addition to the North End. They sell bonbons, wine, and chocolate bars and host tastings on the weekends. Their chocolate is ethically sourced and the flavors are creative and delicious— especially the togarashi 70% and the chestnut miso.

Yelp
Why I'll go back: Ultra high-end chocolates for my periodic cravings You HAVE to order: a few of the bonbons, which are visually stunning and ephemerally decadent Tony's Tip: a perfect way to top off lunch or an early dinner in the North End Admittedly, I was oblivious to Petrova - not only that there was a store in East Boston (I live in Downtown Crossing), but literally that there was a store in front of me last Saturday. The wife and I were waiting in line for Neptune Oyster (40 minutes, but as always, totally worth it). There was a break in the line to allow access to a storefront, and as we approached the gap, I peeked through the window to discover an exquisitely laid out boutique displaying a range of confections as well as an assortment of wines. With time to kill, I split from the wife and entered. Warmly greeted by the manager, I immediately came across a sampling station, where little nibs were being offered as well as tastes of two different wines. Yes, and yes. Following a brief chat in which I learned that this North End location had just opened a week prior, I did a quick loop, taking in a selection of natural wines, a wall of specialized chocolate bars, and the vibrant display of bonbons. I decided this would indeed be our stop on the way home after indulging in oysters and lobster rolls next door. Petrova is truly a bootstrapped operation, having started out of Betty Petrova's small North End apartment during the pandemic. This new spot is the sister location to her original (2023) store in East Boston, where they make all of the chocolate and many of the complimentary ingredients. The wines tend to hail from Eastern Europe. We bought a four-pack of bonbons and two chocolate bars (not funky ones, though we'll be more adventurous next time). Each bite is delectable, and one bite (maybe two) is enough to satisfy my momentary craving (your mileage may vary). Petrova looks to be another North End winner and stands out in a sea of restaurants, coffee/espresso counters and pastry shops. I'll be back soon to satisfy my next craving.
