Petty's BBQ in Killeen, Texas!

This place looks nice and has great potential. But we left very disappointed today. The employees behind the counter were working really slow and seemed very unorganized. There were no customers there when we walked into the place. It still took 30 mins to get our food. That in and of itself was not the issue. But the food wasn’t being freshly cooked so it should have gotten plated alittle faster. The sides were phenomenal. But the meat could use some love. On my combo plate the brisket was all fat, and I couldn’t eat it. It turned my stomach. The one kid behind the counter didn’t speak up so you could barely understand him. He kept telling us to hold on for a minute for our beers and dessert. The beer and dessert never came and after being there for an hour we ended up leaving without ever receiving the 2 beers 2 cobblers and banana pudding we ordered and paid for. Also to note the frozen drinks were not frozen and the card reader was not working. We fly out tomorrow so we won’t be back, but wish I could say we had a better experience here.

My mother ,grandpa and I decided we wanted to try somewhere new so we headed to Petty's BBQ in killeen from copperas cove. I have to say we absolutely loved everything ,they were super busy with not a lot of workers so yes it did take awhile for our food but I rather good food take awhile than eat nasty food sent out quickly. The mustard BBQ sauce was so freaking good on my loaded fries & the regular sauce on the ribs. Sitting in there eating you could see they are a busy business and that every loves the food.

I ordered ribs brisket mac and cheese and green beans. The only thing I enjoyed was the Mac and cheese. The brisket tasted like pot roast without seasoning. The ribs also were overcooked and under seasoned. Tge green beans were soggy and not edible. I hope that this was just a bad day for the cook and not an everyday representation of how they handle business. Oh and the corn bread had the consistency of a sponge. Hopefully yall change things up we need good bbq in downtown killeen.

First-time customer, and WOW 👌. Everything from service to even cleanliness and amazing food is on point. Since it was my first time, I got there 2 minutes before closing, and they treated me amazingly. I did apologize since I already ordered my food, and I wasn't aware they closed at 9 on Sundays. But even tho they were about to close, they treated me amazingly. And the FOOD OMG 🤯 let's not even get there because there's no words to explain how amazing it tastes. 1000% recommended 👌. Definitely will be coming back.

Came yesterday with my wife and the BBq was really good! My wife specifically loved their baked Mac N' Cheese and their Sweet Tea!

The food is really good! I had the mixed brisket plate with baked and creamy mac & cheese it’s well seasoned and flavorful. The customer service is really good too,they are friendly

Went here with my spouse after church and they had a special for $1 cobblers and they were delicious! Me and my spouse got the baked potato, it was good but wish it had more meat

The four legged sampler is way over priced your telling me I paid 23 dollars for this . Thats ridiculous. Not worth it in my opinion. Extremely disappointed.

Food was pretty good really liked the corn bread and brisket, would most likely go again

Coming from CA, we were looking for some good bbq and luckily we found this place. We really liked the baby-back ribs and the brisket. Paired with mac n cheese and green beans, topped with spicy bbq sauce. I literally want to back to tx just for this food. Also don't forget the banana pudding, literally the best I've had. Service was fine, two people behind the counter and prepping the food so it was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush. The ambiance was a bit weird because some guy came in and started playing his mix tape on his little speaker which not a bad singer but I would have enjoyed waiting for my food in peace. Either way, will definitely be going back when we are in killeen again.

Came later in the afternoon to grab some food from here because I'd like to hit new barbecue spots and it must be good cause they were sold out of chicken and ribs and brisket. I believe so I just got a couple other things. It was good solid barbecue. The sides were pretty good to cornbread was a little dry, but overall a good meal.

1st timer. Ribs, Sausage, beans, coleslaw bread....its bread. fr, food was good y'all. Beans and ribs were Dayum good. Will be coming back FO SHO'! Service was excellent. Staff was friendly and fast. They had my order ready within 5 minutes. Reastaurant was clean and had lots of tables for dine in. Definitely recommend this place!

20 August 2025 at 9 pm. I was just at Pettys BBQ. My order was taken at 8 pm and i sat in the drive thru for 45 minutes until i got my food. I could tell that the staff were working really hard to fulfill the orders. One of the staff said that the reason they were running behind is that they were let a worker go. I saw the owner who is an older man wearing an orange T-Shirt walking around behind the cash register area. It appeared he went to get a cold drink. I saw him walk past his struggling staff without blinking an eye at them. I know that he had to have realized how backed up on orders they were. He never stopped to check on his two employees that were running the place and obviously struggling. Ive worked in a food establishment where the managemement has gone off and left myself and a cook to run the whole business and we struggled when it became un believably busy like it was tonite at Petty's. During the 45 minutes i sat in the drive thru i observed the owner casually sweeping his driveway while he very casually chatted with another guy thst was sweeping as well. The owners lack of concern for his employees and customers reflect extremely bad on himself and his business. I would think that short of an emergency he would have been helping his employees take care of his customers. Food was good but he lost my business.

Staff is very helpful and efficient. Love the free drink to veterans . Got the pulled pork plate with coleslaw and pinto beans and corn bread

The food was old and it was cold. The ribs seem as if they were cooked days prior and rewarmed.

Driving through Killeen and wanted to stick to my New Year's resolutions i decided smoke chicken was the best lunch option. Petty's didn't disappoint. Friendly staff served me and quickly took care of regulars who wanted refills on their drinks. I got a 1/2 chicken. The skin was crispy while the meat was juicy with a nice level of smoke. They were pulling off the chickens right as i showed up.

Flavor, smoke, spices, tenderness...all amazing! Great trimming on the no fat brisket. The smokiness was done just right to allow the meat flavor was there, but you get the smoked meat Flavor with every bite! I also had the dark meat chicken. The flavor was balanced as well, juicy and tender. I had coleslaw smd potato salad for my sides. The potato salad really stood out for me. The recipe they use is amazing. When I tasted it, it knocked my socks off it was so good. The cornbread was also good. It's was moist and slightly sweet, and bot dry and crumbly. Recommendations would be to add a couple once to the portion size on the sides. Other than that, I was very satisfied.

Good food and friendly staff. Went here will a friend of mine several weeks back. Despite it being relatively near closing, the staff was delightful.

***Long sigh*** I really hoped that this BBQ spot would be good but it simply missed the mark. The Brisket was dry, the mac and cheese( questionable on the cheese) was dry af and not edible and the cabbage was oily and disgusting!!! The pulled pork was good and ribs were good just needed sauce that they did not include. The best thing I had was the banana flavored pudding.... When I think Texas, I think BBQ and it just wasn't it for me. I probably won't return

Gf and family like this place for some reason and I'm always Dien to support Veteran-owned business. However, the ribs had a taste like dishwasher soap. Employees weren't really customer service oriented. One was decent, don't recall who it was. Will not be back if I can help it.

Great food and wonderful service! The gal taking the order was amazing very kind and friendly.

Everything tasted yummy!! And the banana pudding was awesome! Took a little more time to get the order, but all good things take time! The staff was friendly as well and the restaurant was clean. I would definitely recommend!

Got the 4 sampler plate the brisket was hard and dry very inedible the pulled pork was very dry even with the sauce which was overly vinegary the creamy macaroni tasted very watery and lacked flavor the only decent things were the sausage and the ribs all in all a very poor first experience would not go here again unless for the ribs and sausage.

We eat here every time I come see my kids in Killeen. Great tasting high end bbq. Don't skip it.

$8 for a sausage sandwich and this is what you get. Never again! This is my first and last visit to the new "Pettys". I've patronized Pettys since they originally opened in the old location. I'm not sure who the new owners are but this is foolishness to think this is worth $8! Edited to add*** The sausage was cold and texture as if it was cooked some time ago! Beyond disappointed!!!

Not good, Straight up no taste to the pulled pork i got and this corn bread taste like hay mixed with styrofoam. the meat tasted like it was boiled in water and then someone whispered "bbq" in its general direction hoping for some sort of seasoning. I also order extra meat and either they forgot to add it or their portions or it aint that big to start with. I would not recommend this place. its too pricey for the complete lack of taste. I thought there was a standard to texas bbq but I was wrong

Food was great but they need to wear gloves when preparing your food. Who knows if they washed their hands and touching the credit card machine as well

Everything was amazing. We arw from corpus christi and plan to return and make sure to stop here before going back home because of how delicious it is. Veteran owned too. !

The food was really good. The marble brisket was delicious and the spicy bbq sauce was to die for! A little slow on the service but we didn't mind it because they were so friendly. It's a small spot but very clean. We're from Houston so finding a good bbq place here was our goal. I recommend it!

Parking is convenient and covered! The prices are good and counter service is friendly. There is plenty of seating in the dining area if you don't want carry out! The space is clean and efficient: not upscale: good for a family.

Super friendly, super tasty, and doesn't blow the bank for bbq, which is rare these days for quality product. Great experience!

This is the very first time I have eaten at Petty's barbecue. We actually found it by accident trying to find a barbecue place but maps kept taking us to food trucks and places inside of H-E-B and we wanted barbecue in a restaurant. My friend and I got the brisket barbecue combo and it was amazing. Best barbecue I've had since I moved to Texas 2 1/2 years ago.Petty's barbecue was very clean. The owners came by to see how we were doing and if we needed anything, the staff was very friendly. I especially enjoyed the family style tables where strangers can come up and sit with you. We sat with a group of people that were incredibly friendly and they told us that they've been coming here for the last 2 years and it's the only BBQ place they will eat! This restaurant was very busy( on a Tuesday at 1:00) and loaded with military from Fort Hood, and they give special rates to our military, which is wonderful! Thank you, Petty's barbecue for a wonderful barbecue experience in Texas .

Great ribs. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Even gave us equal portion because we split a plate.

I've been here twice and the food was so good each time. The baked Mac & cheese is better than the creamy Mac & cheese but both are very good. The potato salad reminded me of my mom's (and hers was amazing). The ribs fell off the bones. I couldn't eat all my food there was so much food on the plate. I had chicken the second time I went. The chicken is good - tender & juicy and well seasoned. The barbecue sauce is so good. The staff is friendly and efficient. For the amount of food they served the price made sense. My husband and I were able to share a plate and had plenty to eat. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

Amazing!! The food was good, the service was stellar! The three young people working there were friendly very courteous and helpful and fine examples of great service. Definitely recommend.

Awesome food awesome service with a clean newly renovated building. I would definitely recommend the brisket. And the hot barbecue sauce is actually hot.

There are better options in town, but this was adequate. Unfortunately we hit Band of brothers BBQ before trying Pettys. The prices here were way more reasonable, but BOB is serving brisket on a whole different level.

Voted the best BBQ around. You can't go wrong with the place. Great service! I love their new location that has more seating.

I tried the 4-legged plate. Asked for moist and got 1/2 fat, 1/2 meat slices. Beans lacking any flavor. Potato salad and bread was good though. Pulled pork looked chopped and not pulled. We rarely eat in downtown Killeen due to documented violence. Sure enough, while eating, a homeless dirty guy came in begging. That ruined the meal, so we left. It also seemed to take too long for our 2 meals to be prepared. Suggestion: Try the beans and BBQ at HEB. Might help.

I got the sampler plate with Mac and cheese and tater salad. Mild sasuage was great. The tater salad was sweet, not a fan of sweet tater salad. Pork was moist and smokey, woulda like to be able to taste some seasonings. Brisket o asked for no fat and that's all i got and the little brisket I did get was dry and had no seasonings. All and all it was basic bbq. Nothing to write home about.

Dont go on a Sunday evening...showed up and the order wasn't even started... staff was all lost trying to find my order. First and last time I go here

First time trying this BBQ place. I highly recommend this place. The ribs are even better than Rudy's BBQ. The meat falls off the bone, their most brisket is great, the sausage is great, the coleslaw and potato salad is the best I ever had. I can only find two things that need to be addressed. The BBQ sauce has a little bit too much vinegar flavor for my taste and a little bit to watery of a sauce. Other than that, every was great.

I haven't had Petty's BBQ since I moved to Utah three years ago but am reminded WHY I love eating BBQ here in TX. I'm REALLY picky when it comes to BBQ as I come from California and BBQ is ALTOGETHER different back west. There are only a couple of TX BBQ places I like but when they do it right they do it RIGHT. And Petty's is def one for the records. My office is right around the corner and I know I'd be - massive 300 pound mama if I indulged more often but I Do treat myself once in a while. Perry's knows how to do brisket CORRECTLY, as well as fall off the bone ribs. I had a little mixup the first time I ordered Thru Door dash with a receipt mix up and I think the guy on the phone thought I was attacking him (I was NOT!) I was just tryna make sure neither of us was being scammed, but no matter -the food was FANTASMIC!!! I will def be back!

Food is good,a little more fries would be better Service is great,the lady with the black hair and ponytail needs to be a little nicer,she always seems mad and treats the other workers kinda like a bully to them. Otherwise I love this place To the young man with glasses and curly hair,you are a fantastic worker don't let that lady distract you.Thank you for that great customer service on 4/13 in the evening when I went in.

I love Petty's. The food is decent BBQ, but the service is excellent and the lunch deals are unbeatable.

Petty's has great food cooked fresh and quickly, excellent service and shows respect for military personnel. This is a frequent favorite for our family now!

OH MY GOODNESS!! This was some of the best food in life.....EVER!!! If you haven't gon, GO. Of you don't rank it like 10 stars then you have personal issues that they are not responsible for like maybe you just can't be pleased. Lol in all seriousness this place is one in a million and the people are great as well. Nect time I'll get a pic of the food lol

Wow. I'm not a brisket fan but, this was phenomenal. Pulled pork was delicious but a touch dry. Only three sauces, "spicy" was spicy but still sweet and not overpowering, the standard "sweet" is just that. A basic, to the point sweet barbecue sauce that hits all the right marks. Mustard sauce was again, a basic mustard sauce sweetened just enough to knock down the tart a bit. The rest, baked Mac n cheese was a tad dry but also very chewy and cheesy, the slaw was fresh and delicious. Worth a drive if you're in the area.

I didn't like it. The food was plain nasty. I don't know what that was they called peach cobbler, it looked like oat meal was sprinkled on top of it. The beans were nasty, and the mac n cheese was hard. I will never go there again

Meat has no real flavor. you can't taste any seasoning. The only side worth purchasing was the Mac & Cheese. We'll wait quite a bit of time before we eat there again. BBQ Hub would be my recommendation for good BBQ and sides in that area of Killeen. Service was friendly and was good. The facility was clean but, plain with no frills. Not a keeper for BBQ Meals

Very expensive not worth it the bananas pudding cheesecake what very good! The pork just didn't have too much flavor! Just wasn't impressed with the 25 dollar plate I bought

Overall the food was good. I got the combo 2 meats came with: Small scoop of pinto beans Small scoop of potato salad 3 ribs (2 medium size and 1 small) = 1lb 11 pieces of thin/medium sliced sausage I don't think it was worth $22 The service was good. The area was clean and well kept.

Friendly staff, and the food is phenomenal! Best chicken I have had in a while. The baked Mac and cheese was like home cooked! Price wasn't bad either.

First time going , went around 1 o clock . I ordered a half a pound of chicken and moist brisket. Along with backed Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Chicken was kind of dry but fell straight of the bone. The brisket was good along side with there bbq sauce. The backed mac and cheese was really good and the Coleslaw was still crunchy and nice and sweet. Honestly the bbg was the best part. Would I go back? Probably so

Excellent food!!! From the beans to the meat it's all good. Just try the banana cheesecake!!!! Taste wonderful!!! The place is clean every time I go and the staff is always a delight.

Service was terrible. Employees couldn't have cared less about customers. They were out of almost everything, including sides, desserts and meats. Owner tried to explain it off but were just excuses.
