The Best Family-Friendly Hotels in Spain

"Best for: Multi-generation groups Legend has it Es Vedra, the most magnetic point on earth, is why people return to Ibiza. Petunia’s hilltop perch offers one of the island’s best views of the rock. Perhaps that’s what makes this hotel feel magic. Or is it the combination of family-friendly elements, beautiful interiors, a raw fusion rooftop restaurant, and divine poolside cocktails? Looking around, every guest seems happy, regardless of their age. After a buffet breakfast featuring all the Spanish delicacies as well as trusty classics, set up poolside on plush, double-sized sun loungers that don’t just look good, but make finding space a breeze. The pool itself is a simple rectangular design with steps and a shallow end, but every inch of it can be seen from the water’s edge—something you don’t realize is a plus point until you need full view. What’s more, the unpretentious vibe at Petunia means kids can enjoy themselves without parents feeling like they’re making too much noise. If you’ve got active youngsters, pack outside games and head to the garden’s shaded lawn to take a break from the sun before refueling at the poolside restaurant with sandwiches, burgers and salads. For adults and teens, the outdoor gym and indoor boutique-slash-lounge space are like secrets to be found. If that is, you can tear yourself away from the far-reaching views. Families should book a ground-floor suite with a pool view, so darting back to the room feels as effortless as possible. Added benefits include a separate living and bedroom area, as well as a free-standing bath, and a mini kitchenette with a sink and empty cupboards for supermarket hauls. Anyone with a pram will notice the smoothness of the pathways that wind between Petunia’s buildings—another often overlooked bonus but one that makes a difference when it comes to getting from A to B. Hire a car and venture to nearby Calla Vadella for the day to experience one of the quieter Ibizan beaches. Prices: From around $670 a night" - Sarah Leigh Bannerman

Petunia Ibiza, A Beaumier Hotel (Ibiza, Balearic Islands) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"For a view you could do a lot worse than Es Vedrà, the offshore rock formation that’s a dramatic Ibizan icon. It’s visible from the rooftop terrace at Petunia Ibiza, a boutique hotel in a hillside village on the island’s west coast. It’s also visible from many of its 42 rooms and suites — all of which are stylish in an eminently palatable way, bohemian-rustic in inspiration and extremely photogenic in execution. This is the tranquil, restorative side of Ibizan hospitality: not an all-night party, but a sundown cocktail with a view and dinner at La Mesa d’Es Vedrà." - Tablet Hotels

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of spending a magical getaway with a small group of dear girlfriends at Hotel Petunia. This hidden gem on the south coast of Ibiza is a true slice of paradise, offering breathtaking views of the iconic Es Vedrà rock. From the moment we arrived, the serene atmosphere and impeccable service made us feel completely at ease. Whether we were lounging by the stunning pool, enjoying delicious meals, or simply soaking in the beauty of the surroundings, every moment felt like an escape to nirvana. The entire staff were exceptionally customer-focused. I must especially call out Elaina in the restaurant—when she was on duty, the breakfast service somehow ran with the precision of a Swiss watch. Thank you Team Hotel Petunia - wishing you all the very best for the future.

I wouldn't have wished to stay anywhere else in Ibiza, it's a magical little haven with impeccable views and lovely people, great food and near amazing beaches. I was initially put off by the simplicity of the rooms, but it's exactly that simple but warm, homey feel that was a pleasure to return to. It's tranquil, picturesque, laid back and umpretencious with luxury that is not in your face, you feel by the warm service and lovely help we got from everyone there. Their front desk and porters gave us incredible recommendations, the dinner at Mesa was one of the best we ever had, and La Mirada for sundown is a must even if you're not staying in the hotel.

As a first time traveler to Ibiza in my early 30’s, I wanted a hotel that could capture the natural beauty and energy of the island. My husband and I were blown away. The view of Es Vedrà was stunning but beyond that I could tell that they put a lot of thought into conserving the natural flora and fauna of Ibiza. The room was spectacular and we had a private rooftop to see the sunset as well as an outdoor shower. The pool was fabulous and the food was amazing at all of the restaurants, as was the service. Yes, it’s a bit further out than some hotels but taxis made it very easy to still go out at night and coming back to quiet was essential to getting our rest. We will 10000% be back. This was the second Beaumier property we’ve stayed at and it won’t be the last.

I recently visited this hotel to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday. On arrival the hotel staff were very welcoming and accommodating and showed us around the grounds of the hotel. Our room was amazing and very clean and our beautiful roof terrace had exceptional views of Es Vedra. On the morning of my daughter’s birthday I had asked if our breakfast table could be decorated with balloons and confetti that I had taken with me. This was carried out to perfection and everything was perfect. A big shout out to Alexandra who really helped with this and also was very informative and helped us to plan activities for our weeks stay. The hotel is located about 30 minutes by taxi to Ibiza old town but taxis are difficult to book at certain times of the day. Perhaps the hotel would consider a shuttle to take guests to and from Ibiza old town at certain times of the day? We both loved our stay at this exceptional hotel and will be coming back.

What a stunning place! The views of Es Vedrà are absolutely breathtaking. The food was delicious, with beautifully crafted presentation. Vanessa and Andrea, you two were amazing! Your warm hospitality and thoughtful recommendations made my dinner truly unforgettable. 10/10 for them! This is such a romantic spot, perfect for couples.

Nice hotel but the staff were not particularly welcoming. The service at breakfast was poor and staff were often rude, we expected much better from a 5 star hotel. Poor communication from the reception desk and issues booking taxis. Disappointed and unlikely to return due to the poor service.

I’m really sorry to leave such a bad review for such an amazing location and hotel. But reality is that in 20 years travelling around the world I never experienced such a bad level of service and ways to screw you up price and charges wise, especially in a 5 stars hotel! Don’t get me wrong, there’s some lovely people in the staff: a very kind waiter from Mallorca, Noelia in the reception, the guys carrying the luggage, Alessandro in the rooftop, some other waiters… But: 1. The level of service is absolutely far away from a 5* hotel 2. As I read in other reviews, if you speak Spanish some of the stuff (not all of them) treat you worse coz they go after the foreigners - the richer you look the more they praise you 3. The dining areas are a mess - takes hours to get an order, often gets messed up, some waitresses stay there doing nothing and talking about their problems with their boss instead of serving you - just terrible and unacceptable 4. Some of the personnel gave me attitude, was super rude - again unacceptable 5. At check out, we were told there was a 30€ charge per hour to keep the room (insane). They offered a courtesy room for 30’. At the 30th minutes they came and kicked us out badly. In all this, the room we were in was empty and our luggage had been left there. None of this makes sense 6. The restaurants are incredibly expensive, prices make no sense. One slice of bread is 5€… Positives: views, hotel, free upgrade to a beautiful room; and again some of the workers are really lovely. And, to be fair, the hotel manager called me after the facts and apologized showing willingness to fix the issues. So hopefully by when you read this everything will be fixed

This hotel is truly unique, located right next to the sea in a peaceful and quiet part of the island—perfect for a relaxing getaway. We stayed in a Junior Suite that came with a huge rooftop terrace offering a breathtaking view of the sea. It was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the scenery. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, especially at breakfast and reception. Highly recommended—we'll definitely be coming back!
