Where To Eat When You’re Visiting Madrid

"In the Great Tortilla de Patata Debate, Madrileños fall into different camps: onion or no onion, golden crust or runny egg—there’s even debate on how to chop the potatoes or flip the omelet itself (historically, many a señora has chucked her homemade tortilla in the trash after even just slightly overcooking it). Figure out which side you fall on with a trip to Pez Tortilla, a safe space for you to decide how you like it, pressure-free. The casual joint is often packed with groups who want to chat, drink craft beer, and snack, so you might be relegated to standing, especially during crowded lunch and dinner hours. Choose from different kinds of tortillas that feature ingredients like caramelized peppers, ham, truffle, or goat cheese. No matter which you go for, Pez’s versions have a drippy, runny center versus a well-done crust, so if raw(ish) egg isn’t your thing, opt for the crispy croquettes instead.  " - lori zaino

Google
Great little spot at the end of cava baja. Simple menu of Tortillas, croquettes and drinks. Best tortilla we’ve ever had - great atmosphere and simple idea, definitely recommend.

Google
Delicious tortillas and croquettes for great value. The service was excellent and friendly. It can be a challenge to find seating inside as there aren't many tables, however it's normal to eat whilst standing at the bar. Would definitely recommend this place.

Google
Some of the best tortillas in Madrid! The portion sizes and the prices are reasonable. There’s lots of variety and the service was friendly. This is a must eat place if you’re visiting Madrid!

Google
Had our first Spanish tortilla of the trip and wow did it set the bar high! It's a crowded place and may be hard to find seats but it's exactly the right vibe for a tapas bar. Also the staff was super kind and helpful, even though our Spanish is not so great.

Google
Nice place to dine in different varieties of egg dishes with very cheep price in Madrid. Near the city center. Always crowded need to wait for the space. Nice service friendly staff.

Google
a popular bar with various kinds of not only tortilla but also craft beers. we went around 9pm and it was super crowded, almost became a standing bar. tortilla was nice but could be less salty.

Yelp
This is one of multiple locations in Madrid, and this was the third we went to after the first two were too crowded. It was a weeknight but it was late night, so the spots on Pez were popping. We worried this one would be too crowded too since it was close to Plaza Mayor, but a table opened up quickly. You order at the bar. The bartender was super nice - he was French and I'm American but we were able to piece together each other's Spanish. I think this is a phenomenal value for money. For about 3-4 Euros each, you get a gigantic slice of the tortilla of your choice, served up instantly. There were plenty of vegetarian options. We went for the goat cheese, the parmesan, and the classic. I thought they were all great, the parmesan was probably my favorite. They are a little more liquidy and creamy than the standard spanish omelet you'll find in many more traditional tapas places, but I like my eggs that way anyway. We also tried the truffle croquettes, which were so savory and piping hot, with the absolute perfect temperature and consistency. We each had a beer as well. There was a mix of generations, though mostly late twentysomethings and thirtysomethings. Very hip place, lots of locals. I'd recommend a visit and would return if back in Madrid!

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised when my partner and I stumbled upon pez tortilla. We had just arrived after a long day of travel and looking for a bite to eat, when we found this place known for both their tortillas and for having a selection of craft beer. I got a local sour (my favorite!) Along with a Brie and jamon tortilla. The tortilla was perfectly runny. Croquettes were yummy too!

Yelp
Super busy spot for lunch and the line was out the door. My first time trying Spanish omelette here and these were amazing! Love the texture of the omelette and the gooey insides. The bite sized jamon and mushroom/truffles croquettes were really good too!

Yelp
Cheap, quick fast food that's flavorful and filling. No nonsense type of restaurant place. Order at bar and pick up at bar. The tortilla was the best we had in Madrid.

Yelp
My tortilla was not good. Ate maybe 1/3 of it. Too liquid for my taste, but worst of all - it had an aftertaste that was like wet dog. The young lady behind the counter was pleasant and helpful. Very crowded, noisy, not a place to hang too long.

Yelp
Pez has multiple locations in Madrid and at each you'll find two things in common: Tortillas and craft beer. That's it. That's the review. You have what you need, now go get tortilla and craft beer.

Yelp
I found Pez Tortilla from a list of "best tortilla in Madrid" and it lived up to the hype. Several tortillas to choose from and very fast service. Space is limited so be prepared to wait and stand for the food. I had the parmesano tortilla with a coke. It was very savory and hit the spot after a morning of walking. Overall, Pez Tortilla is worth the stop for a great quick and filling bite!

Yelp
The best classic tortilla I had in Madrid! Excellent service and ambience. I highly recommend this place. You can't miss it!

Yelp
GO HERE! I was skeptical of the traditional Spanish food when coming to Madrid, but one of my friends - a local in Madrid - took us here. This trendy spot has taken the traditional "tortilla" to another level. Awesome take with options like truffle tortilla or tomato and cheese - we tried 4 options and shared and eat every last bite. SO GOOD! They have craft beer too, one of the only places in Spain that does! If gets crowded so be pretty to stand and fight for a place to eat, but it's worth it! Just thinking about these tortillas makes me sad and missing it!

Yelp
Amazing Tortillas, i tried the brie and truffle, the classic with caramelized onions, and the morcilla tortilla. So delicious, and i also tried all there croquetas and they were all good! Blue cheese definitely has a very strong flavor, very good. You have to love blue cheese to eat the blue cheese croquetas. I loved the Ox Tail croqueta, it was definitely my favorite. They are all really good. If i went back to Madrid i would definitely eat breakfast here every morning because it's worth it! Love Love Love this place, very modern and just a hole in the wall spot. The beer is crisp, and they have an awesome variety including American beer

Yelp
Located on the end (or beginning) of the "Tapas strip" in Madrid, this hot spot serves up oozing tortillas in very imaginative flavors. Our favorite was the morcilla with caramelized peppers. The croquettas are also yummy, especially the jamon, jamon and boletus y trufa (mushroom and truffles). Nice wine selection to boot.

Yelp
YUMMM! Awesome tapas bar in La Latina. Like its counterpart in Malasaña, Pez Tortilla offers an assortment of delicious tortillas, including morcilla, cheese, ham, and traditional with onion. Pair it with a nice glass of wine or craft beer and you're set for the night!
