"Pezzella’s Villa Napoli, another family-owned Italian restaurant in Silicon Valley, closed June 22 after a long run, per SFGATE. “It’s been a wonderful 67-year journey, through three generations,” a statement on the restaurant’s website reads. “We have made many friends throughout the years and want to thank everyone for your love and support.”" - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
Delicious food, nice service, and good environment. It’s our first to visit this restaurant. Everything is great. We really enjoyed the food.

Google
Dog friendly patio, with good food for humans and doggies too. The human portions are large and tasty. And they brought treats and a water bowl for our dog and even have a special beef patty for dogs.

We had the bruschetta for appetizers and they were good. For main course we had manicotti and a vegetarian pizza both of them were nice but the pizza was outstanding, its base was fresh and the toppings were perfect (we enjoyed it the most). However the dessert was disappointing, we had cannoli but it had a weird smell in the cream as if it had been taken out of a can which was closed for a long time. It was just weird. So that kind of spoilt our taste buds towards the end. But the other dishes were good, maybe skip the cannoli and order something else if you plan to visit.

Google
Depending on what you get, portions can be a bit small. My pasta was quite small (20 pieces, no meat, 20$), and required quite a bit of extra salt pepper and cheese to get a taste. Cheese was also of the cheap variety, in a shaker bottle and not fresh. Service and parking was good however.

Google
Definitely delicious and the customer service was amazing Plus I'm interested in my second go-round also the chefs made sure my meal was gluten free

Google
Tasty food, but horrible delivery service. I had to wait an hour for the delivery service, "Slice" to arrive to find that they did not check any of the items and only delivered half the order. I then had to call the restaurant, re-order the missing items and go and pick them up myself. Finally ate my microwaved food an hour and a half after placing the order. An incomplete food delivery is worse than no delivery at all.

Went here for the first time the other week. Had a really enjoyable meal (chicken parmesan with a side of fettuccine Alfredo). The food and service were great - definitely coming back.

Google
Great italian bistro! I had steamed clams for appetizers and it was super delicious! Food was great and staff were friendly but i wish they had more wine menu.

Yelp
This place is better than great,It is fantastico. What a hard working loving family that runs this beloved business.People from all over visit here and keep coming back like us..Love the patrons here. We can rave about so many items they serve here..But just a few. Veal parmasean, was so deliscious and tender, Garlic knots are also delish,Clams linguine,Rigotoni olio, garlic,Wedge Salad with blue cheese,Pizza, An old time fav Linda's Parisian burger as good if not better than original and served with tator tots.Sole on the weekends with its delish sauce. And so much more. We love their deserts, we have had choc cheesecake that was so lite and made inhouse. The Cannoli that floats on air. And finally the best servers and employees which are like family. Of course you will be greeted by the loving hostess/manager,who really runs the place, yes I mean Valerie. She is sweet and amazing. They serve lunch and dinner and do on the go as well. But stay for the old school ambience!

Yelp
Pezzella's Villa Napoli has closed and will now become a new Indian restaurant to be called Mylapore.

Yelp
A friend and I dined recently here. We enjoyed our dinner, but the hostess wanted to leave early and made it very uncomfortable to finish our meal. This was definitely my favorite and go to Italian restaurant for over 15 years. I knew the family members who run the restaurant and waitstaff. All were very friendly and welcoming. I had been raving to my friend about this restaurant and was very embarrassed about the treatment. Don't quite understand what's going on here. Haven't been back since.

Yelp
In from out of town, found this place on Yelp and loved the menu Veal Pezzella was fantastic! As was the Veal Milanese my wife had. Service was great, and thought the bill was reasonable, actually we had to look twice as we thought something might be missing. Would eat here again if returning to the area. We miss restaurants link this

Yelp
Very bad service and food. Arrogant manager did not get any of our food right. Avoiding us

Yelp
My husband wanted to give this place a try after visiting with family nearby. We popped in while they were opening up. It was a sad, old place. It may have been a vibrant business at one time. I found it extremely overpriced for the amount of food they give you. No complementary bread?! It was a bummer all the way around. Skip it, there has got to be better places close by... Eggplant parmesan was served alone, for $20 a plate they could have served a small salad or soup. They did offer to sell me a roll... My husband said the burger was ok.

Yelp
10 year customer: A feeling of coming home, hidden gem of Sunnyvale Highlight: Espresso Affogato, It's such a beautiful end to any meal, lunch or dinner and it's a must have for me every time. From an intimate party of two to hosting a diner party of 20 - I have been experiencing excellence at Pezzella's for the last 10 years. The atmosphere is lovely, warm, a feeling of always being cared as if you were the only guest. When the weather is lovely make sure you experience the outdoor flower/beer garden.

Yelp
How often do you get to sit at the bar and feel like you're in an Italian Mafia scene?! Great food, quick service and overall vibe on a Friday night. We received generous pours of wine and Crown on the rocks (my partner ordered). Sat at the bar and enjoyed our small meal with Don, Vince and Tony. Don the conversationalist of a bartender he was, Vince the owner of 50+ years and then Tony the high school friend of Vince and former Sunnyvale mayor. Had a great conversation from the origin of the restaurant to the first Ford car Vince bought in Sunnyvale. Restaurant was filled that night, especially in the bar area. Been here in the past to order to go and was not disappointed. We came back on this night for the dining experience and we couldn't have spent a better Friday night than here. 5 stars and recommend to all and definitely try their authentic pizza, ravioli and garlic knots!

Roy S.

Yelp
This place was like an overpriced spaghetti factory. (Except spaghetti factory was better quality and more consistent.) The entrance spelled like a bathroom that has an overflowing urinal. I think only VERY VERY OLD PEOPLE liked this place as their sense of taste and smell was long gone.

Ralph S.

Yelp
This is Italian food the way it ahould be made. Good solid ingredients, made with Italian flare... The bar has good choice of wines and hard liquor, but no draft beer. They offer bottle beer, about 8 choices..

Michael L.

Yelp
traditional Italian food and atmosphere. Seems like a family owned spot. Italian is the only cuisine where you can be guaranteed they'll have full booths nowadays. Started with the garlic bread and it was incredible! It was on sourdough bread and cut in slices. I'm not even a sourdough fan. Ours came fresh out of the oven. The calamari was good. It was crispy and cooked well. We got a large pizza- half pepperoni and half chicken and pesto. It's traditional New York style-thin crust. I'll come back to try one of the other dishes.

Suman K.

Yelp
Horrible experience, came here for a team outing and the customer service sucked, they took forever to get our food, and the manager was rude. She did not even apologize for the lack of service. We had to remind them 3 times to get our food or appetizer or drinks. I would not recommend coming here at all. Their drinking water also didn't seem clean.

Michael G.

Yelp
Great food and excellent service. The menu offers a wonderful variety of classic Italian dishes. If you're looking for an excellent dining experience in a peaceful and friendly environment; you won't be disappointed.

Patty J.

Yelp
I love the people but I understand why they are closing . the food has not been good for a long time. no one is ever there at lunch. Fernando has always been great. I will miss them No matter what. I hope the people who still need a job will find one soon. I wish them well. The people who get to retire after working so hard and for so long.

Monica C.

Yelp
Went to lunch with a group. Everyone's food came, except for one person's. It took AN HOUR to cook a well-done 6-8oz steak. Service was not great and the Manager was rude and awful. She avoided us while we waited, didnt even make eye contact. We asked if we can have some type of compensation (free drink, the normal) for our wait and the service so we can continue our lunch while our friend ate. She copped the biggest attitude you vould imagine; didnt even say sorry for the inconvenience. THEN, She tried to force a 20% tip BY WRITING IT ON OUR CHECK AFTER WE SWIPED OUR CARD. Yeah you read that right.

Yelp
I was so craving a neapolitan style pizza. Based on the name I was expecting to a thin crust pizza. I was seriously disappointed. On a Tuesday night at 6:30 PM the place was completely empty. Two chefs in the open kitchen looked so bored. We were seated at a booth with white tablecloth that was covering a very dirty table underneath. Sad looking carpet. We were told the pizza would take at least 15 minutes. Usually this type of pizza takes 8 to 10 minutes so I was already dubious. What came out was a very thick crust pizza with undercooked dough underneath so you couldn't pick it up. Tuscan chicken pizza was $30 and had way too much ricotta cheese, very mushy, not nearly enough basil, and was bland. No salt. Please add seasoning! Pizza caprese was also bland and not worth $17 for a small pizza. Service was friendly and prompt hence two stars instead of one. Website says Thursday is hot dog night. No gracias. Please make fresh pasta instead!

Yelp
Best Italian food in Santa Clara Co. like mamas kitchen Excellent friendly service all the way around from the minute you step inside the door Very Mediterranean atmosphere and decor. I feel like I'm in Italy when dining at Pezellas .

Rohan B.

Yelp
GRAZIE! Pezzela's was absolutely amazing. Starting off with the ambiance and service it was just wow! It makes you feel like you are in the 80s part of the Mafia type of place and the servers are so kind and attentive! Now the food was also just fabulous I got the veal cannelloni shells which were sooo good! The veal was so tender and wasn't too gamey. Its fattened contrasted the sweet and sour tomato sauce very well. The pasta shells themselves were a little too soft for my liking , but it was still good. They also give you some sourdough break which I suggest you ask for because it's only $2 and it elevates the dish! The bruschetta also tasted so fresh! The amount of olive oil was just hearty and the tomatoes, basil, and bread were so fresh and tasty. The bread had the perfect crunch as well. Now the desserts were special as they were quite expensive for their size they were still incredibly tasty especially the espresso affogato! It was so creamy and the espresso bitter and battling with the ice cream's sweet just created the perfect neutral taste in your mouth. I would come again just for this dessert! Definitely give it a try. The chocolate tarfudo I think was also really good with nice chocolate chunks and a unique interior of two ice creams! OVERALL I would definitely reccomend to others, and I would come again! However it is more on the expensive side but it is worth it!

Yelp
Lady behind the bar.has no customer service whatsoever.i order their cioppino pretty bland no flavor all the seafood was very rubbery..garlic bread hard as a rock..flashing green light as you enter the bar..

Brian N.

Yelp
A lovely little Italian restaurant - I go here anytime I want a great tasting pizza and it never disappoints. Val and the team are very sweet and keep people coming back!

Roy T.

Yelp
Prepare for long wait if you want to eat here. 1 hour for an 8 oz steak to be cooked. 1 hour and 30 minutes for the vegetable sides (Chard), plus you have to ask the server three times for it. Also extra 20 minutes for the bill if you want to checkout. Also you will never get a drink menu even if you asked for it. I don't even know if they have one. They never said anything about not having one, the server just said he got it. But after asking for it 4 times, I gave up. Anyways prepare 2+ hours for a lunch here a this restaurant and enjoy!!

Barbara D.

Yelp
We have been here twice in the last month! Caesar is light and flavorful, sausage penne also delicious. Great family environment, also can enjoy time at the bar, lots of friendly service here!

John O.

Yelp
The food was good but the service was horrible. Had to wait 15 min after being seated before we were asked for anything or even any kind of greeting When we finally got our service the seemed disinterested and really had zero going for him. He forgot our order twice and we kept having to remind him as he would be walking by if we were going to get our drinks and our bread. The place was not busy at all and it just felt like the place was dying. Really disappointed with this place. The building was incredibly charming but the service and the people were severely lacking. Hopefully it was just an off night.

Nanci G.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped for dinner tonight as we were craving Italian. We called for reservations as was mentioned in their profile and we arrived 15 mins early. Ok fine I'm like the starvin Marvin over here. Due to CA very restrictive covid rules the staff wears masks and requires that customers wear one when interfacing with their staff. The food was SO SPECTACULAR that I want to come back tomorrow night to try something else. My husband proclaimed over and over how great his lasagne was and I loved loved loved my baked rigatoni. Best Italian hands down. Oh we also tried their lemon cheesecake. So come and enjoy the great food that Pezzella's has to offer and see if I'm correct on how good it is. #EatLocal,ShopLocal #SupportOurRestaurants

Yelp
havent been here since high school. One of the few restaurants left which haven't been converted into an office building. Extra 2 stars for surviving this long. next door to the car wash which is 50% off on tue/wed. Margherita pizza; asked for crispy crust; reminded me of a cheese pizza from a chain store. Very salty, tasted like someone drizzled in parmesan cheese into the sauce and baked it in. Or they added additional salt to the top. Have to try the other dishes. 30$/1 person including hot tea. I'm sure some dishes are good there. Just have to find them

denise j.

Yelp
Excellent east coast Italian. The food , the family , the atmosphere. Are total class . it's no wonder they have been in business since 1958. Gd bless many more successful years.

Bruce S.

Yelp
I am so happy that they have the Parisian burger and tots. Such a nice reminder of the old days. Have not tried their pasta but it sure did smell great. I did takeout.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
ordered to go thru slice app. Food was amazing as always. hot, fresh, tasty. Ordered baked rigatoni and ravioli with addred shrimp, garlic bread, and salad. A++ thanks

Kiran R.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful and full of character. The food was mediocre, not the best or worst that I've had. However, the service was terrible. For food we got the lasagna and a combo pizza. The lasagna was fine. The pizza, we asked for crispy but it was moist as if the doubt had soaked up all the water from the ingredients. We asked if they could toss it back in the oven for a bit but it still came out soggy. The service was near non-existing. The waiter came to take our order for food and drinks (almost 10 mins in( and then we didn't see him after that. Can't blame him because he seemed to be the only waiter.

Andrew Y.

Yelp
I recently went to this restaurant with a large party. The owner was a lovely lady, sweet and a wonderful host. The chefs did great. While my steak was overcooked, still retained good flavor. My main issue with the restaurant was Valerie. Surly, rude, impatient. I don't want to make assumptions about her but the attention I received from Valerie made me feel very unwelcome.

Yelp
We went here to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday. It was such a horrible experience from the time we set foot in this place. The reception area reeked of "old" odor, the SUPER expensive food were bland that we had to add so much salt just so we could eat them. They also charged for the birthday dessert that they gave my brother-in-law that would usually be complimentary in other restaurants PLUS they charged $30 for 5 sodas! No, these are not premium sodas. Their lemonade was just like their food, no taste whatsoever! As a final straw, they PRE-POPULATED our receipt with the tip they think we should give them! What in the world! We actually had to ask for a fresh receipt so we can write the tip we feel they actually deserved! This restaurant is a scam. So NOT worth the money. I do not recommend this even to my worst enemies.

Mike D.

Yelp
Was here for a memorial service. The staff were very good and the food was fantastic.

Smruti A.

Yelp
Great place for some authentic food! This spot has been on our list for a long time. Finally had dinner there and were pretty impressed! The moment you step in, you can feel the old school vibe. Great decor, family run restaurant that looks like a cozy home. We had a reservation so were seated in a few minutes. The restaurant was FULL and was pretty noisy. We got some lemonade and Bruschetta to start with. They served some delicious loaf of bread and butter on the table. The bread was great and made a great add on! For mains we got the Manicotti and Fettuccine Alfredo Alia Romana with vegetables. Both were delicious. The Manicotti came with red sauce and LOTS of cheese. The Fettuccine was served with vegetables and an addictive cream sauce. The service was quite slow and took forever to get the pastas out. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant and waited really long to get the food and a refill on water. Taking away a star for that. They have a LOT of vegetarian options and I would certainly like to go back and try some of the other ones.

Sal V.

Yelp
Always great food, as good as my mother and grandmothers. Never disappointed in the meals and service.

Annie N.

Yelp
This place has an odd smell the moment you walk in. I wanted to confirm if I was crazy or if the smell was real and by key-wording "smell" on the existing reviews list for this place, and at least 15 other reviews mentioned the non-pleasant smell. Since we arrived early prior to our reservation time, we headed to the bar in the front room. There, I did my best to down a cosmo hoping it would help me ignore the smell. Once seated at our table we ordered: The house's cab, Bruschetta, Alfredo pasta with chicken added, and a pepperoni pizza. Bruschetta was $8 for 3 pieces-- nothing special and the bread was pretty hard and over toasted. I've had better and for less $. My Alfredo pasta with chicken was tasteless in all aspects possible. The pasta tasted like plain boiled noodles and was absent of any flavor. I tried to add salt and pepper but there was no saving the dish. The chicken didn't seem to have any flavor either, just boring boiled chicken breast that was cut up. I gave up on it and had a slice of pizza instead, which was at least not terrible. I got to peek the wine selection while at the bar, and I recognized the bottles from the low shelf selection from Safeway. No special wine choices here. Our waiter was kind and noticed I hardly touched my food. I was honest with him about the pasta being extremely bland, but that I knew it wasn't his fault since he clearly isn't the cook. We politely asked for our check and headed out. The only positive was that the staff is quite friendly. I'll have to try elsewhere for Italian.

Ashton R.

Yelp
The atmosphere in this place was quite sad. It seemed like the place I feel my kids will send me to live when I can no longer wipe my own butt. The food was SO bland. It also came so fast. I know most people would he happy about this but damn I can press the microwave button as well. We ordered a bottle of wine and it came with a $15.00 corkage fee for no reason. Why? There was no one in the restaurant and it makes perfect sense. Only reason this place isn't getting one star from me is the waiter was nice and cared. The person who greeted us when we came in, she needs to do something else if she doesn't enjoy working there. Instead of just leading us to our table she just walked forward talked to a waiter then just looked at us and said "come on". I don't recommend this place in any way. If you want bad Italian food go to Olive Garden at least they don't charge you $5.00 for bread. Won't be back that's for sure.

Bob C.

Yelp
Authentic traditional Italian food. I'm 1st generation Italian from New York/New Jersey so I understand great quality Italian cooking. Don't expect to find a trendy menu. It's old school and attracts an older crowd. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Marcello L.

Yelp
My family has been going to Villa Napoli since they opened. It was always a treat when my parents' took us there. I haven't been in at least 30 years, maybe closer to 35. My siblings and I are all in town, so this is where we went to dinner last night. We were not disappointed. They shared a Big Vinnie's (and, of course, I had a slice). I had forgotten how good their crust is! I had the manicotti. It was not remarkable, but it was delicious, nonetheless. We each had a salad, and the blue cheese dressing tastes the same as it did when I was a kid. It's what got me to love salad. I'm sorry people have had less positive experiences.

Craig D.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Low key, family friendly with great Italian food. The menu is extensive and has options for the pickiest eater in our family. I will be back!

Juli F.

Yelp
I think the low ratings are stupid, the service was amazing and our server George was so nice and friendly, he made us feel very welcome. I think this restaurant is super cute and cozy inside. The food was good I just think they shouldn't fry the artichoke, I would love it not fried but other than that I think the food was good. I think the ravioli was 10/10 and it had my mouth drooling.

Keith A.

Yelp
This was my first time at this restaurant, and as I had heard it was a staple of Sunnyvale's Italian scene, I was quite disappointed by the food. And speechless for the exhortaban prices. We ordered the half and half (ravioli and spaghetti), with meat sauce which had no flavor. I'm no Italian chef but I have made this dish much tastier on my own. Also, the pasta was overdone. I could have made this at home for about $6, but they charged $23 for low quality ingredients. The other dish we got was the linguini mixto. Like the other dish, the meal was flavorless and the crab claw had no meat nor anyway to break it open. When we told the server about not being able to eat the claw, he laughed and said "Oops". This was almost $30 and not worth more than $15 for the quality. I will not return here and suggest you look elsewhere for Italian food in Sunnyvale.

Brenda Z.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted a celebratory dinner after a Niners playoff wins and chose this one because it was close to our hotel, but we were sooo glad we did. One of the specials was a grilled artichoke and u couldn't resist. It was delicious!!! My husband had a bowl of minestrone to start...very hearty and tasty. He had the spaghetti and ravioli with the meat sauce and managed to finish the whole bowl! He said it was delicious. I had the chicken parmigiana , served with penne pasta perfectly al dente and garlicky greens that matched perfectly. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert! I would have loved to try their tiramisu...next time!

Francesca S.

Yelp
Best Italian restaurant that I've been to in California. I've been here twice for New Year's Eve and it is my top choice for taking family and friends from out of town. The staff is friendly and the smell of the food and sauce reminds me of my grandmother's cooking.

Pradeep C.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 4 ppl which later became 5 ppl. From the time time we called for reservation to the time, we left, it was a very good experience. Our server was professional, humble and took care of our Vegetarian needs. Food, was good too, each dish was flavorful. Wish we can give more than 5 stars.

J B.

Yelp
Lackluster service and food. This place is for regulars and old timers. It feels stale and haunted. Nice people but uninspiring fare. Originally gave 2 Stars butTook one star off bc we waited FOREVER for our bill and the place was EMPTY. Ugh!

Einar R.

Yelp
Pezzella's is too classy for most rat-racing South Bay folks, but if you appreciate authentic Italian in a cozy setting without all the touchscreens or over-simplified menus, come here. Pasta, pizza, and a lot more at fair prices. Service that makes you feel like family. Like Italian joints used to be.

Li D.

Yelp
I really enjoyed our dinner here today! The host welcomed us and guided us to the back yard since we had a dog with us. The yard was clean and nice. They brought a bowl with water for my dog, which was really nice. The lady also gave us some dog treats and surprisingly, they have dog menu! Unfortunate our dog had dinner already, or I'd like to get her a dinner here. The food taste good. Portion is big and plates are warm. Sercice is quick and attentive. Price-wise, not a cheap place, but it is reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Kimberlee F.

Yelp
My husband and I have been coming here for years. The staff is so friendly and helpful! My husband always gets Linda's Parisian Burger, which is two patties, cheese, the special sauce on a sourdough bun...served with tater tots. My favorites are chicken Marsala, spaghetti with meat sauce and tortellini Alfredo. Finish with a slice of Marianne's mud pie...a must have! Delicious

Dale W.

Yelp
We've been to Pezzella's a number of times, but this is my first review. We always enjoy the ambiance, great service and food. My favorite decor is in the main dining room - a cartoony painting of several chefs with big noses sniffing some cheese. It never fails to bring a smile. This time when we entered just after 5:30 on a week night, we were told the main dining room was already booked with large groups, so we sat at a table for 4 in the bar area. The hostess served us, and the bartender also made sure our beverages (water and Coca Cola) were replenished when needed. My son loves their Caesar salad and the dressing (no anchovies), and he also ordered an appetizer portion of the fetuccine alfredo, as he often does. He also thought we would enjoy the garlic knots appetizer, which the hostess said was an alternate take on caprese, and it was delicious. I can never have too much garlic, and my son is less fond of it, so it was just enough for him. I ordered the spinach salad but didn't want the fruity vinaigrette dressing that is normally served, so I opted instead for 1000 Island dressing, which was very good. They dress the salads in the kitchen before they are served, so if you want to put on your own dressing, be sure to ask for it on the side. I also ordered the jumbo prawns scampi in wine sauce which was served with chard (I requested that they omit the pasta, which it otherwise would have had). The prawns were a bit chewy, not sure why, but they tasted good. I should have asked them to remove the tail cartilage - I hate doing that when there is a sauce, as it is very messy. My son kindly offered to remove them, and his hands were very messy from the sauce when he finished. I knew I couldn't eat much dessert but did order "one scoop only" of vanilla gelato. When they brought it out, as you can see by the photo it was an amount that would completely fill a Ben & Jerry's container. I objected but was told "that's the way it comes" so I said OK, I'll have to eat it. It was delicious, just an awful lot of ice cream. My son was too full to help me. This is not the place to come if you are on a budget, unless you order from the appetizer part of the menu; our meal was close to $100 before the tip and that's been the case whenever we have dined here. The reason for the 4 stars this visit was the chewy prawns, not sure why they were that way. Otherwise everything was great! The women's restroom is just fine, nothing fancy. They have several handicap parking spots in front of the restaurant, but they were filled when we arrived - their lot is pretty big, wrapping around three sides of the building, so if you park in back you may have to walk a bit.
