I went with a small group of three people and we were one of the first tables seated right when they opened at 11:00 a.m. We were greeted promptly and were able to select a table of our choosing. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. So I give them five stars for service and ambiance.
Unfortunately, several things went wrong after that. We ordered appetizers, and our server wanted to also take our main course order while he was there, which made sense. However, our entrees were brought out very quickly, and it was sometime later that our appetizers were brought to the table after we had already begun eating our meal. At most restaurants I eat at this is the reverse order of how food should be served.
I couldn't eat right away because my silverware and Chopsticks were wrapped in a dinner napkin that smelled strongly of mildew. I asked for a replacement because I did not want to eat with that silverware and especially with the wooden Chopsticks in contact with the mildew. They brought several replacements, all of which smelled strongly of mildew, until I asked that they just bring me the silverware in the chopsticks and hold the dinner napkin.
My stir-fried eggplant was very tasty, but there were large chunks of burnt and charred pieces that threw off the pleasantness of the dish.
Overall, I have to give this review 2 stars because of delivering the appetizers when we were already well into our entrees, and especially because the charred pieces left such a strong burnt taste, and how off-putting smell of mildew was. It's a shame because it would have been a nice lunch experience otherwise.
