PH Coffee has been one of the best things to happen to Northeast KC. I am not exaggerating. They have been a prominent feature in the community in regard to providing needed services (like a free clothing exchange), supporting inclusivity, hosting neighborhood meetings, organizing fairs for the arts, fronting anti-crime campaigns, cheerleading for other coffee shops and businesses, and so much more. Yes, they make drinks, breakfast food, sandwiches, and treats, but it’s also worth mentioning that they do so much more than just provide a food service. They’ve been good for the mind and soul as well. They’ve given us a sense of community again. As for my drink, the house-made chai is simply DIVINE. It is so very delicious, full of spice flavor, and they make it themselves. Mine was iced. I haven’t been back in a few months, and I still dream about this drink. I will be getting it hot in autumn, that’s for sure. They’ve brought back the snow cones. So far, I’ve only seen them offered on the weekends. How CUTE is their little snow cones trailer and patio?! I love the fresh herbs and plants growing around the lot. TIP: to support and encourage sustainability, they use glass jars instead of disposable cups. If you’re drinking in the building, there’s no extra charge for that. Enjoy your drink and place the glass in a designated spot near the counter before you leave. But if you take your cup to-go, they charge a small fee much like Shatto Milk does for their bottles, or like how Aldi uses a quarter system for their carts so customers are motivated to return them. You will get that glass fee back if you bring back their cup(s).

Such a treat of a coffee shop. I really should’ve tried this place a while ago. First visit and the staff were super welcoming and all of them looked like they were having fun working together which makes you happy when you’ve also worked customer service. The drink was reasonably priced, a bit on the high side, but for the atmosphere/food/community it’s worth it. The old building is very cool and they’ve made it so homey but eclectic. I got some work done finishing some illustrations on the couch, excellent place to draw, and unwind after walking an hour to get here. Music was a bit loud since I was trying to listen to a podcast but sometimes you gotta remember it’s not about you and just let it go. I was really intrigued by all the global snacks they stocked. Vibes were impeccable on a Friday afternoon. Definitely going to come back and bring friends.

I stopped in here because I needed a restroom, but wow, I'm so glad I found this place. It's so comfortable and quiet. The baristas were friendly and helpful. The coffee was delicious, and I love that they make their own syrups. The decor was gorgeous, quirky, and understated, and it gave very cozy vibes. And even though I don't have any need for it, I loved that there was a play area for kids! Incredibly thoughtful. This is one of my new favorite coffee shops, and I can't wait to come back here!

I was pleased with the service, the sweet potato burrito, and my coffee. I attended a community meeting in the back space. We were treated great. The staff was patient and professional

We enjoyed the ambiance, classic late 90s tunes, and great coffee. The unique selection of candies and Canadian/ European chocolate bars was a delightful surprise. We played a great game of Dominion and the barista was so friendly and gracious.

Went in on a Saturday morning to specifically try their coffee speciality Tim Tam Slam. As an Aussie in KC this was music to my ears and taste buds. Thought it was wonderful they showcase different coffee and fun things to do with it! Great vibe, great people, great location. Will be back!

Google
Wow! I love this shop! Barista was super nice and friendly! The chocolate chip cookie is next level and the espresso is the best I’ve had! Not to mention they’re very cool to go cups and coozie!!

Google
Really enjoy having a drip coffee (little more than $3) and getting some good work done. Pleasant vibe. Good events. Owner is often there getting work done as well and helping staff. Glad to see a close community with good energy. Check their website on snowy days too- they sometimes host special events for kids when school is closed!

Yelp
PH is such an important place in the Northeast. the people there are passionate about the community, the coffee is made with care, and the new brunch menu punches way above its weight. lucky to have this as a neighborhood spot and can't recommend it enough. also, love the glass jar program!

Yelp
Oh my gosh this coffee shop! I drove pretty far out just to check out a coffee shop with a play room and it did not disappoint! I had a delicious pumpkin coffee and drank it in peace while my kids played in the play room. It makes me want to move to this neighborhood haha. They have events and is super family friendly. I'll be back for sure- even driving the half an hour each way.

Yelp
Overall I really like PH Coffee I've gotten coffee here a couple of times this one was my favorite I just wish it was a little sweeter. The environment is cozy inside and outside, and they have different local items for sell, like candles and wine. Just a heads up if you don't drink you coffee inside now in order to get coffee you have to pay for their glass, holder and lid (although the holder and lid is optional. If you return it you get your money back. So like the minimizing waste idea I just wasn't prepared for it so now I know to being my own cup.

Yelp
So I'm kind of obsessed with how cool this place is. PH has been on my radar for years, and it's a bit out of the way for me, but now I'm going to be coming here as often as I can when around this part of town. First of all, it's kind of off the beaten path, even for this neighborhood, but that's not a bad thing - it's kind of great because it lends itself to even more of a charming neighborhood hang. When you walk in, it's bigger than expected, and just exudes warmth and charm. The baristas are over the top kind, which is so wonderful in a coffee shop. I asked them a ton of questions about the seasonal drinks and ended up getting a chai-cider - a chaider. It was SO GOOD. Like, I don't often get non coffee drinks at coffee shops but I've been thinking about this one for a solid month now. Overall, I'll come back here sometime to work, or just grab an afternoon pick me up. I promise if you haven't been yet that it's worth the journey.
google avatar

Leah A.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to work remote. There's plenty of seating options, yummy burritos (steak is my go to!), and lots of natural sunlight! The seasonal drink menu is so fun and I love that they don't up charge for special milks.

Yelp
Came here the other day and again enjoyed a good coffee inside this very cozy coffee shop. There is a lot of road construction in the general area, so it is hard for those of us who live a bit aways to get here. It is totally worth it however. This is the best coffee shop in the Pendleton Heights area. Their baked goods are delicious. I had enjoyed a caramel oatmeal cookie that was freshly baked. The best thing I ordered was a gooey cheese melt with apple butter ---what a delicious concept!

Yelp
Calling all coffee moms If you want a place to get amazing coffee and a place for your child to play. this is it. I got to sip my coffee and work on some things while my baby played. It was fantastic. Light of Earendil Beans are my favorite.

Yelp
PH coffee has been on the list for a while and finally stopped by few weekends ago. Turns out they have a vegan breakfast burrito?! There were actually a few vegan options but I didn't take a picture of the menu, and I'm not finding anything definitive online. But it looks like at some point recently they had Vegan Cinnamon Rolls so I'll be keeping an eye out for the return of those...

Yelp
PH coffee is in my neighborhood and I pass by all the time, always rushing to get to my destination, rarely allowing enough time to pop in. That has to change. Today was my 4th visit since they opened years ago. I ordered my usual cold brew with heavy cream and it was so smooth it could con me out of my life savings. Just excellent. My only quibble is that it's 16 ounces, and I would prefer a 20-24 ounce option. I'm trying to accept that I can't always have what I want, so it's ok. The barista on duty was absolutely adorable with personality plus. Very kind and welcoming. The space has plenty of seating and would be perfect for meeting up with friends, getting some work done, or hiding from some of my responsibilities for a bit. I wish I'd had time to stay at the shop awhile and relax with my coffee but today was not the day. It's on my agenda though, for sure.

Yelp
Attended the Harry Poirer pop-up Thursday night and wow did it more than exceed expectations! You go in thru the back and the scene is set starting there! Attention to detail & the experience in decorations, themed drinks AND entertainment! This show had singing, trivia, interaction, used the entire room ( although small), dancing and a cute, modern story line! Yes you can tell I throughly enjoyed the evening! You have to reserve a table and all drink/food orders are via QR code! I believe they only do a theme for a month so check it out often!!!!

Francisco M.

Yelp
Very cozy coffee shop in Pendelton Heights. Great variety and options for a cup of joe or snack. Very friendly staff. I ordered the "Sponge Bob" Cold Brew Latte and it is delicious! Specially the pineapple whipped cream. Not to mention that it's vegan!
google avatar

Erica G.

Yelp
This is a wonderful coffee shop with the best ambiance imaginable. I stopped by with a couple of coworkers to hang out and ended up falling in love. The coffee was absolutely perfect (I'm normally a sipper but I chugged this latte) and the bagel was, of course, yummy. I want to try one of the breakfast burritos next time I go, with how good everything else was it has to be delicious. There is plenty of space in the shop and it has the nice buzz of a coffee shop without being too loud. There is plenty of space and more than enough tables for anyone who wants to come to work or hang out. There is a space with toys for children which is so great for anyone who wants to get out of the house with a child. The only downside is that you have to park on a street, but I went on a busy Saturday morning and I had no problem finding a spot so it is not a deterrent to going back.

Yelp
Coffee: ***** Customer service:**** Ambiance:** Diversity:**** Pastries: *** Overall: **** [out of *****] When you go here get the brisket breakfast burrito!!! It was good. The savory scone (bacon, chive, cheddar) was also very delicious! Ok, ok, this is a coffee review and the Cortado was one of the best I've had in Kansas City and seasonal hot goblin was full of spicy cinnamon frothy goodness. The ambiance is very family friendly hipster. There is a bar to watch children play in the play area, yes it has a young child play area. The seating is not the most comfortable and the food looks basic but tastes good.
google avatar

Rachel J.

Yelp
PH coffee is very spacious with plenty of seating. I tried the iced caramel latte and it was delicious. There was a small parking lot and street parking available. My only complaint was that the wifi was pretty slow and lagging so keep that in mind if you need to get work done.
google avatar

Azile Y.

Yelp
What a wonderful little coffee shop in a quiet, diverse, friendly feeling neighborhood! I loved my drink special- an iced green tea with passion fruit purée/syrup, and a peach ring garnish. Delightful! I also liked my grilled cheese. Nice little spot to get some work done- I enjoyed sitting at the window bar and working on my laptop for hours. The staff are so friendly. I can think of 2 areas for potential improvement: One would be to eliminate plastic straws and stick to compostable ones. Another would be to choose an all-natural scented plug-in for the bathroom- the one they had was chemical fragrance which I'm sensitive to, and I know others are too. This place feels like it would employ green practices and I'd love to see what it does in the future!

Yelp
I came here alone at about 2:40 PM on a Sunday afternoon. Parking: Plenty of street parking around. Atmosphere: Spacious with plenty of tables accommodating up to 4-6 people. A few couch areas that can hold a few more. A kids play area. They also have a 2nd back room area. Good number of electrical outlets as well. They also have a lot of board games for group use! Food: They have burritos that looked tempting. Also have a few pastries (including vegan friendly options!) Did not try these but will next time. Drink: Great! Had a good americano. Was very tempted to have tea - appears they have a wide selection. Service: Wonderful. I actually initially ordered one of their specials (a pomegranate drink) that was too sweet for me, and they were so chill and friendly about making me a standard americano instead - very much appreciate this! This is a gem of a spot. Perfect for studying, playing games provided by them, or just sipping on coffee. I will be back here!

Yelp
5 stars to the decent Latte! The latte is strong in aroma and the wake up power at the first sip, probably the barista saw me yawning and it's early in the morning. That taste also reminds me the latte I had in Italy, strong espresso and good milk. Simple yet pure and powerful. The second sip then taste more milk than espresso. The coffee shop seems to want to create a place for people to chat to social. The setting is more like a community activity area just a more casual side. And now they also have several seasonal coffee with different spices and flavor. I would definitely recommend recommend it, their coffee won't disappoint you!

Mary Ann G.

Yelp
Very noisy with kids roaming around with little supervision! Impossible to have a normal conversation.
google avatar

Hannah P.

Yelp
One of the best coffees I have ever had. I had a pumpkin latte and it tasted like it was made with real pumpkin purée. The coffee was also very fresh and tasted great. Love this spot!! Will definitely revisit.
google avatar

Chelsey V.

Yelp
Not only can you get amazing coffees and bites, but also delicious teas that are brewed at time of service! It's so hard to find good tea places and I've found both here. They also have a child section too with toys, books and it sections off so your little ones stay secured. This is an inclusive environment and menu as they have open space seating for you or your friends and vegan/vegetarian options as well. You can bring your service animal and seating outside makes it a great place for whatever companion you bring along! Bright open space with a historical aesthetic

Yelp
You know those "12 hour coffee shop vibe ambience jazz" videos on Youtube with the perfect atmosphere that you can never seem to find in real life? Well PH is it. Coming here when it's a little snowy even adds to the feel. Just a nice place that you feel like you can hang out in, either alone while reading or studying, or with a group. Lots of seating and a good layout to spend time in -- I've tried to kill some time in other spots in the city (Hitides, Thou Mayest, Black Dog, Messenger, etc.) and those all feel more rushed and crowded. Nothing against those great places too. Very friendly staff and the drip coffees + traditional macchiato I tried were just as good as any of the other places. I'd be pumped if PH were open later in the evening, even if just on a Thurs/Fri/Sat.

Yelp
This has become the go-to destination for me and my family. The service is wonderful. Coffee, teas, lemonades are always on point and creative. Really just feels good on the inside and surrounded by cool people. Love the neighborhood and everything about PH.

Yelp
This coffee shop is super cute and definitely a nice addition to the Pendleton heights area. The coffee shop had hammerhand coffee beans which I hadn't seen in a while and appreciated! Staff were friendly and easy to get my order correct while I was able to watch some cute dogs hang out outside! This is such a great addition for the med school right down the road as most students could use some caffeine for the late nights and a safe space to study!

Shawn C.

Yelp
Got the traditional macchiato it was a nice quick drink and was good. Staff was friendly, quiet and peaceful ambiance, lots of seating.
google avatar

Jaime W.

Yelp
Of course I immediately thought "PH" coffee was referring to the chemistry "pH" scale for acidity/basicity...It's actually "Pendleton Heights" coffee. Although, I did stumble upon an antique distilling chemistry set in the coffee shop...so maybe it was intentional to allure science nerds as well as local pendleton heights coffee buffs. I love the vibe here. It's peaceful, beautifully decorated and is simplistic in it's presentation. The space is airy with an attractive interior design; the shop combines a rustic brick with a breezy renovated glass/white theme. This is a WONDERFUL place to study. The noise level is tolerable for intensive study and the wifi is FAST! Also, a nice note about PH Coffee; there is an adorable play area for children. This would be a great place for parents with young ones to get some work done while letting the kiddos explore the children's area with a backlit starry sky :) Bottom line: Charming pendleton heights study spot.

Yelp
In a few years from now when the Historic Northeast neighborhood is known for being a destination for arts, coffee, food and fun; PH Coffee will be able to say that they were one of the first to invest and take a chance on the area. PH stands for Pendelton Heights, a specific area between The Paseo and Chestnut TFWY, Independence Ave and Cliff Drive. It is KC's 2nd oldest residential neighborhood and full of homes from the 19th century - some renovated and others dilapidated. PH Coffee is just the type of community space that is needed for the new generation of artists and entrepreneurs to meet and caffeinate while plotting the next improvement for this grand yet neglected area. The old tin ceilings have been preserved and a wide open glass front lets in natural light to showcase the brick walls and wooden floors. All the normal coffee concoctions, a kiddie play area, wifi, table, bar stool and couch seating make for a cozy respite from the hard knock life of the surrounding blocks. They also share space with a local greenhouse and garden - Pink Pony Farms that sells plants and produce. A great vibe and hopefully a catalyst for the entire neighborhood.

Yelp
I've been trying to find the perfect place to study at and I can say that this shop offers everything I could ask for. It is such a cute and clean environment and it doesn't get too loud during the week, although the weekend can get a little noisier. It's the perfect place to study and chill with friends. The baristas are also super nice and meticulous with their work.
google avatar

Ronee J.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop. Had the Chai. It was perfect. Also had the chocolate croissant. That was quite pleasant. Comfortable place for bringing your laptop and/or hanging out. We did not stay as we had to get going with our day. If I lived in this city, I would be very comfortable with asking this a regular stop.

Cassi J.

Yelp
We visited KC on vacation and relied solely on Yelp reviews to help us find our coffee. We won't have to search anymore because pH Coffee will always be our stop! The barista answered all of our questions kindly and was very helpful. We have a family of 5 with a teenager and two kids. All of us were enamored with our variety of drinks. We will be back and we recommend them to everyone!

Yelp
Absolutely love this gem in the Pendleton Heights neighborhood. Friendly staff, tons of seating, and delicious drinks and bakery treats. My favorite thing to do is start and end a long run at PH Coffee - grab some coffee before the run, celebrate with a beer (and more coffee) after the run. Cheers!

Bailey R.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this place and it starts with the staff. The staff is so kind and personable that you can't help but have a great day after chatting! The coffee is incredible, happy to share this place with others!

Ally M.

Yelp
This is now my favorite coffee place!! The coffee is insanely tasty & the service was so friendly & kind. Definitely recommending to others :)

Alexandria P.

Yelp
I've never seen a black employee there; despite the fact it's in a very black neighborhood. I despise when local shops claim to be "for the neighborhood" but won't even hire folks in the neighborhood. Food is good, service is friendly, Ambiance is warm, but all that is overshadowed by the fact I really don't see them supporting black people.

Abigail C.

Yelp
We enjoyed a delicious hot caramel macchiato, chai latte, and bacon scone here. The kids' play area in the back kept our little one entertained while we enjoyed our drinks and treat. The service here was very helpful and friendly, and the ambiance was relaxing. One of our new favorite coffee shops!
google avatar

Sonia K.

Yelp
Tucked away in Pendleton Heights is PH Coffee. This coffee shop is cute, cozy, and has serious coffee game. I love that they partner with local restaurants for food partnerships. Also, this is one of the few shops in KC I have seen doing contact tracing. Nevertheless, I have stopped in a couple of times and enjoyed a cortado and flat white. Both were immensely enjoyable. During my last visit I had a piece of quiche and a salad which was a nice treat for breakfast. PH you've got a return customer, exited to see what new things you have in store.
google avatar

Zoila C.

Yelp
I remember when this building and the block was African food and businesses. Gentrification is strong here but i can't be mad at the attempts to clean up northeast. I was shocked when I drove by one day to find this new set up. Over all the customer service is great and their chai tea latte is amazing! My go to drink! They have a section for kids to play and be entertained I brought my friend and her daughters here to check it out and it's a welcoming friendly environment.

Yelp
PH Coffee is a welcome and overdue addition to our neighborhood. After moving to Historic Northeast I was beginning to think I was destined to drink lackluster coffee for the rest of my life. Then I started setting aside time before starting my morning commute to Johnson Country to stop into PH Coffee. Aside from the Filling Station on Johnson Drive in Misson, this is one of the best lattes I've ever had- far superior to the chain drive through coffee experience most of us have become accustomed to. This shop makes its own decadent syrups (vanilla, mocha, caramel, pumpkin) and sources scrumptious pastries from local bakers, KC Baking Company, vegan specialties from Mud Pie, and gluten free treats from Taos Bakes. Free Wi-Fi is offered to patrons as well as a kids area for children to occupy themselves while dad or mom sips on a delicious pour-over or drip coffee. We have stopped in on a Sunday mid morning and at 715AM in a Monday and service was constantly friendly and efficient. If you haven't made the time to swing by, please do. You'll be happy that you did. PS, please have a pop tart!!!
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
It's a shame we weren't able to drink our coffee inside because PH Coffee has an awesome layout and seating options. The cold brew coffee was solid and they had all of the milk and creamer options you'd want. We enjoyed walking around the Pendleton Heights neighborhood while drinking our coffees and would definitely go back if we're in the area
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
My only complaint is that PH coffee is 30 minutes away from where I live. Otherwise this would be my Sunday coffee shop. Friendly service, amazing coffee and great breakfast pastries from wonderful local and small business owned shops such as KC Baking Company, Mudpie and Taos Bakes. The building is old and the ambiance is cozy. They managed to renovate it and left it very open yet it still feels quaint inside. The kids area is in a back corner so that there is good separation. There is a nice comfortable couch for the parents and a nice open play area for the kids. There are coloring books, a kitchen and play food as well as many other nice clean toys to occupy them. Coffee is smooth and AMEN my cafe au lait was spot on, an easy drink but very few make it amazing. There is a small parking lot beside the building and a lot of street parking. Two restrooms and all of your typical modern cafe options in regards to drink, syrups and milk alternatives. They do it right here and I hope the best for them. I should mention prices are spot on. In fact may be a tad lower than places closer in the city.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Such a nice and inviting coffee shop. The baristas are friendly. I love how they have a little play area for kids. And they just started doing story time at 10:30 am on Fridays! It's so nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood. They also have changing tables in their bathrooms which most coffee shops don't. As a mom who takes her child with her most places this is super nice. They have lots of natural lighting which is so nice. I'm not sure who they use for their beans but they have a great espresso blend.
google avatar

Scott G.

Yelp
Great local coffee spot with plenty of options and cool environment to relax read or study. Staff is always friendly and whips up your order quickly and accurately.
google avatar

Mandie B.

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly staff and adorable location. We loved that they served Hammerhand coffee! My husband got a pour over and I got just a drip. Both were delicious! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Branden S.

Yelp
This place is awesome. It's got a spot for kids in the back which was why we targeted coming here as I had to take a work call with family before heading out for Thanksgiving. I was thoroughly impressed by their drip which to me sometimes serves as a unilateral measure of quality - (sure, espresso can be different, but hey, I had to choose one up front). Anyways the space is bright, warm, has a few nooks and crannies, was playing decent music, and felt like a good neighborhood spot. Could use a couple more filling touches (books/bookshelves if they want to be that kind of place, maybe a few more available outlets but I didn't get a chance to really scope for them too much). I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Martina M.

Yelp
Really cute coffee shop hidden in the neighborhood. The ambiance is relaxing and the coffee is strong. The cactus plants laying everywhere and the big windows on the street make it the perfect spot to grab a coffee and chat or to get some work done :)

Jeremy W.

Yelp
We love this place. The atmosphere, staff, and coffee is second to none. Highly recommended if you're looking for a great coffee shop!
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Just what you expect in a neighborhood coffee house. Friendly atmosphere, good coffee and nice food selection. Kinda love how they do the food trucks on site for the weekends. Neat location that is easy to find and walkable for locals from several nearby neighborhoods.
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
Starbucks doesn't compare to PH COFFEE! I had the most amazing coffee here that makes Starbucks taste like Old man Maxwell Or Foldgers coffee! No jokes. This coffee is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I'm so excited to have a place like this to enjoy from time to time. I only wish they were closer to home. I must ESPECIALLY mention their Masterpiece Artwork with regards to "LATTE ART". The beautiful display really creates an environment that leaves me happy & Inspired .

Tamra W.

Yelp
What a great place! atmosphere super clean owner super nice and approachable will visit again

Doug W.

Yelp
The coffee here is fantastic, and the location is especially nice because it's a few blocks from the scenic Cliff Drive trail. Their online ordering works well, the baristas are friendly, and the espresso quality is consistent. I love this little gem of a coffee shop and look forward to their continued growth!
