PH Coffee has been one of the best things to happen to Northeast KC. I am not exaggerating. They have been a prominent feature in the community in regard to providing needed services (like a free clothing exchange), supporting inclusivity, hosting neighborhood meetings, organizing fairs for the arts, fronting anti-crime campaigns, cheerleading for other coffee shops and businesses, and so much more.
Yes, they make drinks, breakfast food, sandwiches, and treats, but it’s also worth mentioning that they do so much more than just provide a food service. They’ve been good for the mind and soul as well. They’ve given us a sense of community again.
As for my drink, the house-made chai is simply DIVINE. It is so very delicious, full of spice flavor, and they make it themselves. Mine was iced. I haven’t been back in a few months, and I still dream about this drink. I will be getting it hot in autumn, that’s for sure.
They’ve brought back the snow cones. So far, I’ve only seen them offered on the weekends. How CUTE is their little snow cones trailer and patio?! I love the fresh herbs and plants growing around the lot.
TIP: to support and encourage sustainability, they use glass jars instead of disposable cups. If you’re drinking in the building, there’s no extra charge for that. Enjoy your drink and place the glass in a designated spot near the counter before you leave.
But if you take your cup to-go, they charge a small fee much like Shatto Milk does for their bottles, or like how Aldi uses a quarter system for their carts so customers are motivated to return them. You will get that glass fee back if you bring back their cup(s).
