We ordered the blood orange mimosas, dinosaur toast, and their crispy chicken bento. Overall a great experience! Cute restaurant and food was really good! We LOVE mimosas and these blood orange ones was absolutely wonderful. If you need a new place to try I highly recommend this spot. Good portion sizes and the staff there is very kind.

😍 Absolutely love this place! (Found this gem a decade ago. Always gotta stop by when I'm in downtown Portland) Every dish tastes fresh & packed with flavor. The drink menu is HUGE & has an option for everyone. The house made sodas are lovely ✨ Super friendly & helpful staff, plus the music & vibes are always awesome! (Happy hour menu is ALL day on the weekends.... So that's a great way to try different things!)

Google
This place is a gem! It's unassuming from the outside, small on the inside. It had charm. We ordered the Hawaiian Bento. The pork was SO good! I'm craving it now, writing about it. The also had free self-serve water with metal cups. A bonus!

Google
Food was delicious 😋 an extra side of sauce did cost $1, but worth it for the crispy chicken bento. The mixed drink was well crafted and would recommend. Worth the visit for delicious food.

Google
We enjoyed the poke and the noodles were great. Would definitely recommend it for an easy and heathy meal in Portland.

Google
Overall, a good experience, and a place I would likely visit again if in the area. The food has great flavors, and there's a range of options which is nice. The portions could be a little bigger, however they feel mostly adequate for the price. The staff here are absolutely fantastic, and they help create a great atmosphere. It's a good little place here, and restaurant worth considering when you're in the area.

Just left after having to ask for a refund before even tasting our food. Tried to sit at a table with my husband and one year old, as per habit, we wiped the table with a wet wipe as a precaution and it was disgusting. It took three wipes and a napkin to clean half of the table including bits of food. I can’t recommend anyone come here.

Google
I am so sad to be writing this review but this is ridiculous. My gf gets the crispy chicken bento every time we go, this is the 5th time that shes gotten the chicken where they are seriously over breading the chicken AND the breading is severely undercooked. The rice is legitimately the best part of the bento since the zucchini is barely cooked. I get the Korean beef bento with extra meat, this is the 3rd time that i’ve paid an extra 8$ on top of the base 15$ for extra meat and as shown that is all the meat i got. as seen in the pictures you can see my nail indent on the uncooked breading that came off the chicken. extremely disappointing and dissatisfied. We will not be coming back again. Pictures for proof since it seems the owner believes no one without pictures :) The dumplings were also burnt but tasted good.

Yelp
I absolutely love phat cart, it's always one of my top suggestion for people in the area. I eat here all the time but today I tried their breakfast (kimchi fire rice) and it's so delicious. The workers are always so sweet and the service is super fast. It's a little small so not the best place for big parties but they also have an outside area outside which is super nice. Vibes are always on par love this place. ALSO.. they have super cute cool drinks. And sweets.

Yelp
Came here for some late night food, portions were great for the price! I ordered the Larb Gai Tod, and thought it was okay. As it was under the salad category, I think it should be placed under bentos because of the big portion! The flavor was more salty than the usual salty-lime taste that I'm used to. The chicken was also deep fried which I didn't expect. I didn't finish my meal nor choose to take it home because the chicken seemed a little off. The breading was a little thick and soggy. I wouldn't recommend getting this dish but would give something else a try if I were to come back. Service was minimal, and the interior was cute for a "hole in the wall" spot vibe.

Yelp
Came in on a busy Thursday night to a very friendly atmosphere. The place has a rustic feel to it and you feel like you're in a cozy tavern as soon as you enter. People were friendly and there were plentiful options on the menu. Food came out quickly and tasted great. Lots of fusion options and reasonable prices. Would come back here just to enjoy the vibes.

Yelp
Definitely recommend the Miyagi Burger!!! Tempura fried chicken with good bun, lettuce and tomato. I subbed it with fried. The portion is decent for the price of around $12. Any other dish I've ordered was overpriced but I also consider it's right next to university so it's expected. Friendly service. Some seating inside and on their balcony above. Cozy college feeling

Yelp
It was one of the only places open in the snow. It was a former foot cart that has a brick and mortar restaurant. It is a small place with only a few seats so it is mainly a takeout location. Rush is around 6-7 pm, then the place goes dead after 7 pm. We had the following: Korean beef bento - 3/5 - there was a lot of fatty tissue on my meat. There wasn't a lot of meat in the first place. Flavor was good. Crispy chicken- 4/5 - my companion enjoyed his dish and said the chicken was moist. It was very affordable and the staff were nice. They say the owner never closes even during the storm of the century so you can guarantee that they'll be open.

Yelp
This place was a-ok. Cool vibe. F O O D Hubby liked the crispy chicken (there wasn't much). I liked the Tuna Larb Bento, and the gyudon was just ok. Small portions. The Thai Tea was watered down and they charge an extra $1 for no ice, but didn't fill my cup all the way anyway. P A R K I N G Difficult, so we just swung by and got everything to go.

Yelp
Super cute, great service, enjoyed the house made soda, but the food was disappointing. I had the crispy chicken bento, on yelp's recommendation, but there was too much breading and hardly any chicken in it. The zucchini that came with it needed more seasoning. I also had the veggie "spring rolls", which were actually fried egg rolls filled with mostly cabbage. I know cabbage is having a moment right now, it's affordable and good for you, yada yada, but oy I'm so tired of it already. But also I didn't want another fried thing. The ginger lychee soda and the rice were great, but I wouldn't go back for the food.

Yelp
Crispy chicken bento hit the spot! I would lick the bowl if I could. Great combo of fresh ingredients and mix of flavors- none overpowering the others. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and moist inside. I also enjoyed a blueberry fizz. Wonderful on a summer day. The restaurant itself is small but the space is utilized well. Super cute and welcoming.

Yelp
Located near PSU campus, this shop is a cute spot to grab a bite or lunch with friends. Inside, it's very cozy and there's seating for you to enjoy chatting over a meal or drinks. Service here is quick and kind. I came here with friends to just grab some drinks and we got a fizzy drink, matcha, and their coldbrew. They were all pretty good. I would love to come back to try some of their food!

Yelp
Portland is known for its food cart scene and Phat Cart is the closest I got to experience that. One of my best friends recommended we meet here for a laid-back environment, an appetizing meal, and enjoyable drinks. This is a popular spot amongst college students and I can see why for their affordability and variation. Phat Cart has turned into a brick-and-mortar with two locations in Portland. The vibes near their PSU location emulate a cute place to unwind with friends over a meal. R&B echoes with wooden furniture and plants sprawled throughout. The brick-and-mortar is two floors with communal tables and tables for two. Everything is self-service--order and retrieve your items at the counter and grab your utensils and seats on your own. Even though you seat yourself, the ladies working the register were super friendly, and bubbly, and provided awesome recommendations! The only thing is our food and drinks came out super slow and staggered. I can see why this is a hot spot for students. The restaurant dishes up breakfast, lunch, and dinner items plus a happy hour. Known for their bentos and salads, that's what my friend got. My companion and I took advantage of their happy hour and got Takoyaki. Plus a free Chicken Dumpling from their Yelp Check-in Offer! To be honest, the quality of the food wasn't superb for us. It tasted mediocre; like it was frozen and heated up. The dumplings were plain, fried, and crispy. While the takoyaki was heavy on the batter, creamy from the sauce, and had a little bit of octopus. The flavors didn't stand out to us, so I wouldn't order it again. Looking for a cost-effective and favorable spot for college students? Phat Cart is that place! No longer a food cart but a restaurant, it's located in the heart of downtown Portland on SW College Street, with limited parking and walking friendly. We enjoyed our company and ambiance more than the food but glad we came. Be sure to check in for their deal!

Yelp
I love coming to this place, but this is the third time I found hair in my food. The first time I just let it go cuz I already ate the majority of my food. I came back in the second time and got a curly hair on top of my rice and the black girl that was serving me tried removing the hair in front of me after I had asked her for a new dish. The third time: me and my friend were eating in and found a hair again in the fries.

Yelp
I love this place so much not since the food here has reasonable prices for students. I always make phone call before I go to pick up my meals. The avocado chicken salad is great and the Thai tea is also good too.

Yelp
Excellent Korean short rib bowl with decent portions of meat, kimchi, zucchini, and rice at a fair price. Pleasant staff. Cozy ambiance. Free, fast wifi: 335 Mbps up, 238 Mbps down.

Yelp
This place was SUPER CUTE. The food was nice. My daughters enjoyed what they ordered. I ordered the Jalapeño Gyudon and it was bland. I had to use sauce from my daughter's order to make it better. The staff was really nice although they did accidentally add an extra sandwich to my check that I paid for... they quickly corrected it though. Great service.

Yelp
What a fantastic spot to grub and grab a drink. Their food menu has plenty to offer if your in the mood for some delicious bowls. I've had almost all of their meat dishes. The pork belly bowl I had the last time I was there was really well cooked, little crispy and tasty. Their non alcoholic drinks are off the charts. Don't sleep on the desserts. Get their fried chicken appetizer. Went 5 times in 2 weeks and brought friends, they all loved it.

Yelp
Good and affordable lunch spot for college students. I got the larb tuna poke bento and it came with tuna cubes, avocado, salad, and avocado. The vinaigrette was salty, spicy and sour which was really good! I liked eating a little bit of everything in one bite. The fish could be fresher but I don't mind because this is a bento and sandwich place, not a sushi restaurant. Decent portion size for $12 but don't expect to get full full. The space is small so you might not be able to find a table to sit down during busy hours. P.S. make sure to check in on Yelp for free chicken dumplings! I didn't notice they had this offer until I went here to write my review.

Yelp
I've been here more times that I can count. While I'm rarely disappointed by the experience, there are two reoccurring themes: 1. The cocktail menu reads better than it is, i.e., I'm usually underwhelmed by the clever concoctions. And the price points are too high for what you get. 2. Portions are a touch too small as I'm always checking the menu after finishing my meal for something small to satisfy lingering my craving.

Yelp
I come to Phat cart often before or after work. They always prepare the food really quickly & the quality has always been amazing. I love to come here and sit down for a meal as well. It's a wonderful place to enjoy good Asian cushion food. I highly recommend Phat Cart to my friends and family whenever they are in town - never been disappointed / let down, food is always so good here

Yelp
This place is the freakin' best. Their proximity to PSU means they close late AND they're slinging excellent food and bevvies for decent prices. I'm obsessed with their larb tuna poke bento and that spicy Thai lime vinaigrette, as well as their Hawaiian bento with deliciously tender stewed pork in pineapple gravy. The carrot toffee cake was tasty, and although I couldn't really taste the toffee part, the cake itself was moist and had that wonderful ribbon of cream cheese frosting running through the middle. They also serve a great matcha milk tea. That being said, I'd suggest you avoid the orange chicken and Mr. Miyagi fried chicken sandwich. I'm not sure whether it's the batter or method of frying, or both, but there was some mushiness between the meat and outer crust that was really unappetizing. I wish I'd known in advance so I could've saved more room for their other options. Check in on Yelp for free chicken dumplings!

Yelp
We grabbed late night takeout here on the way from the airport to our hotel first night of our vacation. It seems to be very catered toward late night college students with Portland State University nearby. I did the online ordering through Yelp/Grubhub and the order was packed nicely and ready when I came by. Can't say anything for the place itself since we took our food to the hotel to eat. It's decent food. Other than the Okonomi fries though there was nothing particularly better than one might get at a Panda Express. The Orange Chicken was ok, but no longer crispy by the time we ate... which was probably 20 minutes after pickup time. The oven-roasted chicken I would not recommend. It was quick tough and dry and the teriyaki sauce it came with wasn't helping it much. Luckily I had some of the orange chicken sauce left to help it out. Fries were good though. This was around 9pm on New Year's Eve though. So there really weren't many options.

Yelp
The food is really delicious and extremely affordable. Fair portion sizes, highly recommended! Parking can be a little tough to find but that's the nature of the PSU area.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
10/10 delish roast chicken that's so tender and flavorful & the teriyaki sauce is pleasantly gingery and sweet!! plus the portions are perfect, not too big or small.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious! Came here twice on a recent trip and their oven roasted chicken bento can be made gluten free! (Life saver) Definitely recommend. They also have cocktails, beer & wine.

Yelp
The food is so good, the service is amazing, the ambiance is amazing as well. I come here often cause the food is so good and cheap. Only downside is the step out front. It blends in well and I trip over it often. I have pots and arthritis so I tend to be a bit clumsy... today I tripped over it and hit the door so hard I literally broke my finger and passed out. Maybe a little ramp or bright yellow tape or something could help with visibility.

Yelp
I felt like a college student again, running errands downtown in my sweatpants, and stopping into Phat Cafe for a to-go lunch. They specialize in Asian-inspired comfort foods. They also have an eclectic assortment of drinks (coffee, beer, wine, cider) and knicks knacks for sale (pottery, smudge sticks). Pretty cozy decor with a few bar stools, couple of tables, two lounge chairs, and some street patio seating. For such a small kitchen they do a great job keeping the noise down and food churning out quickly. Their main menu includes bentos and sandwiches. There is only one vegetarian/vegan main dish, but it's priced right at $8. Add a side of tofu for $4 and some extra steamed zucchini for $3 and now we are talking. The poké bowl at $11 is a good value too, if a little small. If I am being picky, the avocado was a little under ripe and the whole mint leaves mixed in were a little jarring. But otherwise the flavors were good and spicy. The only thing I am left wondering after the meal is whether their logo, a bright red piggy bank shaped food cart, exists in reality or just as a figurehead for the brand. I'd be delighted to see it come to life.

Yelp
I LOVE eating here. Everything I have tried has been fabulous, but I especially like the crispy chicken bento. I was tragically introduced to this place as my time at PSU was coming to an end - otherwise I would've eaten here way more!! It is a really cute, hole-in-the-wall place that could be easy to miss, but don't miss out! The food is excellent! Great flavors with quality ingredients and thoughtful presentation. Can't recommend it enough!

Yelp
We ordered Phat Cart yesterday for delivery. It was so good! We ordered the crispy chicken bento and the poke bento. We'll definitely be going back for more.

Yelp
Great cozy little spot. Interesting cocktail selections, and a variety of Asian flair foods. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Heard great things about their Mr. Miyagi Sandwich and Ahi Tuna Poke here so I was very excited to finally get to try them. Both dishes were very impressive at their price point but the Poke took the (fish) cake for me. The fish was super fresh and came in big chunks. The fresh arugula paired very well with the fresh fish. Their pickled cucumbers and gingers were also very flavorful. The sauce was super duper delicious, slightly sweet, and the topiko added a nice surprised crunches with every spoonful. The Poke I got was a Spicy Ahi Tuna Poke that is a special during the Winter but they also have their staple Larb Poke which I'm excited to try at some point. The Mr. Miyagi Sandwich was good too. I like the light lime sauce but I thought the chicken was on the bland side. The tomato, avocado, and lettuce kinda overpowered the chicken which is rather sad. It was also covered in a very thick batter layer which got very crispy on the edges but was mushy everywhere else. On the other hand, the buns were well-toasted and the portion was MASSIVE. Super glad to finally get to check this place out. The service was super fast and the price is great. Go check them out!

Yelp
A fun little Asian fusion spot with tasty food and drinks. It's located right downtown near the PSU campus and has a cute little upstairs patio to enjoy the food! It's super easy to order and eat upstairs or take it and go if you're in a rush. I loved that there were some vegan and vegetarian options on the menu! I for the Korean vegan bento box with egg and it was SO. GOOD. The perfect amount of good for a dinner! The tofu was so crispy and the egg perfectly cooked. The rice, greens, and avocado were really filling as well. The food felt super authentic and seriously tasted great. The drinks here were also super tasty -- they were surprisingly strong too. Overall, love all the food and drinks here and will definitely be back!

Yelp
In October of 2020, this place gave me severe shigellosis food poisoning from a poké bowl. I was debilitated for a week (ill spare the details), visited the hospital and had morphine for the pain, and was weak for a whole second week after. Idk.. don't eat the poké

Boon B.

Yelp
I had the gyudon. Flavor and portion size for the price are nonexistent. Go eat somewhere else at Portland State if you want 'Asian Food' :]

April Mae T.

Yelp
I live just a block away from here. This small hole-in-the-wall restaurants is such an amazing find for cheap eaters!! Located in the PSU neighborhood, you get the convenance of a food cart in restaurant form! When you walk into the restaurant you are greet by a wide variety of house plants adding to the homey atmosphere of this cozy place. There is just a select menu and a couple items on a special menu near the counter. Prices are very affordable, possibly catering to the college crowd.# The restaurant is tiny, but they deliver on BIG Flavor!! Me and my friend ordered the fish soup special, thire FAMOUS Mr Miyagi chicken sandwich (he got his lettuce wrapped), crispy chicken karaage, and the Korean bento box. Also got an iced chai tea which had a nice spice to it. The food was absolutely amazing!! Chicken was so crispy, you can hear the crunch!! The kalbi ribs in the Korean bento was full of flavor, I didn't want it to end. The fish soup was a little unexpected, flavorful with lots of fish but was a little thick for my taste. The sandwich was wooooow good. Again, chicken in there was so juicy and criapy!! No wonder it's everyone's favorite. Was great portion Wish they had more room in there restaurant though, it seems like a great place to hang out since they have a great selection of cocktails and beers. Still love this place! I'm getting hungry writing this review lol

Yelp
Fantastic place! Fast service, great tap list & atmosphere but most importantly, the food is delicious!

Yelp
Yum! Was staying for one night in Portland. Ordered delivery from Phat Cart. The food arrived quickly and was really good. Would definitely order again.

Megan Y.

Yelp
Phat Cart has become one of my go-to's for a quick meal. Their prices are reasonable and everything I've tried on the menu tastes great. My absolute favorites are the crispy chicken bento and the dessert roti. The lime aioli sauce is to die for and the chicken has the perfect amount of crisp to it. And I don't know what it is about the roti, but it's so addicting despite how simple it seems! They also include their sautéed zucchini in their bentos, which you can order as a side dish. Another seemingly simple addition, but something I look forward to eating every time. Other things I've tried on the menu are the chicken dumplings, korean beef bento and their breakfast options. Honestly everything I've tried here is good and I want to try everything on the menu but I keep going back to my favorites! With all the craziness going on in the world right now, they are still open for takeout and delivery. Support your small local businesses!

Yelp
We had amazing food here. The shop is so cute and it is so nicely decorated. The people working here were so nice and helpful in explaining their menu. The two times that we came, it wasn't too crowded. We got our food within 20 min to go. I recommend the chicken avocado salad, octopus something (on their happy hour menu), chicken dumplings, poke bento, and drinks. I wish I could try everything on their menu. One of the negatives is that there is limited parking so it's hard to find a spot to park. Another is that it gets kind of sketchy at night. I understand that's for most downtowns but I saw a lot of shattered car window glass on the ground in at least four places just within the 1 mile radius. We felt safe during the daytime though. We would love to eat here again!

Yelp
Food is very good, and the atmosphere is very relaxing and chill. The employees are equally friendly as well.

Yelp
We LOVE this place. Been coming here for almost 3 years and have yet to be disappointed. Our go to is Gyudon and orange chicken bento, but we've tried almost everything on the menu and it's ALL delicious. Little quaint and inviting. They have some outdoor seating and they also sell handmade ceramics bouquets and other random local items in there. Prices are low, food and service is great... what more could you want?! Also, toddler approved. Win WIN

Yelp
I came here late on a Saturday with some friends as it was close to an event we came for at PSU. We came around 9:30, and it was pretty full (granted, most of the people there also came from the same event that we did). After waiting in line about 10 minutes, we managed to place our orders at the counter and grab a table. I ordered the Korean beef bowl and Thai iced tea for myself, along with the chicken karaage poppers as an appetizer for my group. I also checked in on yelp and got a free chicken potstickers order. Around 10 minutes later, my name was called to pick up my order from the counter. My bowl looked delicious and well balanced, coming with my short ribs, picked cucumber, and kimchi. The short ribs were cooked nicely, and they had a lot of flavor as I expected. The cucumber was soft and added a nice palette cleanser to the dish. The kimchi brought the heat, as it was HOT. I definitely needed my Thai iced tea to cool myself off after eating the kimchi. The potstickers side is only a side of 3 potstickers, and they weren't large per se. But the were nicely crispy, and served their purpose as an appetizer. The real standout for me was the chicken karaage poppers. Admittedly, they weren't karaage, so a little false advertising there. But they were AMAZING. The batter is super light (imagine the sweet and sour chicken from chicken takeout), yet was fried to a crisp so that it provided a nice crunch. And the chicken was cooked well. The sauce it came with added a saltiness and umami that really accentuated the chicken. I'd get those again in a heartbeat. The restaurant is quite small, there's 2 decently size community tables and a small 6 person table inside. I wouldn't recommend coming in a large group. Parking also seems limited to just street parking around the area, so good luck with that! Pricing is slightly high given the quantity of food you get, though I think the quality make justify the price point they have. Plus, the staff are super nice, they even gave me a free refill on my iced tea when I wanted to take some to go. You wouldn't think much of this place from the outside, but it's definitely worth giving a try if you're in the area. It feels like it's hidden away, and I like that a lot.

Yelp
Great lunch spot! Decent prices and outdoor seating up top and in front. Friendly quick service too. I tried the crispy chicken bowl bc my friend said it was great - fried breaded chicken with grilled zucchini and rice. Portion was perfect for me - I could finish if without feeling like a nap lol. The chicken was nice and crispy and the sauce was tasty, too. They sell flowers and some veggies inside too. cute spot...will definitely be back.

Yelp
Venturing into the depths of hunger and boredom , I stumbled upon a hidden gem, exuding an irresistible charm that captured my heart. Each bite I savored left me uttering a heartfelt "mmmmmm" Opting for a take-out experience, the wait was made pleasant by the restaurant's endearing ambiance, complete with a cozy (small) bar. Ladies seeking a cute spot for a quick bite and drinks with friends, take note of this gem on your list! The egg rolls, a deep-fried delight, and the orange chicken bento box, boasting mouthwatering crispiness, stole the show. Paired with the most tantalizing plum sauce, they took my taste buds on a flavor adventure. I swiftly picked up the last Earl Grey cookie, adding an artistic touch to my to-go order. The desserts, both in-house creations and those from a local bakery, were divine. With its undeniable charm and delightful cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit for any food enthusiast. Bon appétit

Yelp
AWESOME!!! So glad we tried this place out! We only stopped in to try the popcorn chicken dishes and their drinks. Fortunately, they are doing To Go Drinks!!!! Ever since my first visit, I regularly stop by for a PineappleRita and the Gin and Tonic they make. Sooooooo good. Their chicken is crispy and DELICIOUS! It's consistent in quality. I've had it with the sauce and didn't like it as much. The amount of sauce was overkill for my taste but the sauce itself was tasty. So nothing wrong with the dish. Just my preference for sauce. We are now weekend regulars and if I had ONE complaint.... it's the wait time for JUST drinks. Anytime I come for a single drink... you best belive I'm waiting NO LESS than 15mins at any time. It's sooooo slowwww. I truly don't understand why a single drink would take that long or need to wait until food orders came out before being made. Either way. Worth it. 5 stars. :)

Yelp
Solid spot all the food I've had is premium presentation drinks are delicious and the staff is nice and enthusiastic definitely stop by if you close a good choice

Yelp
3.5-4 stars. I tried both the crispy chicken and orange chicken. IMO the crispy chicken is the better dish out of the two because the outer layer is crunchy and the flavor is great. I feel like I've had better orange chicken elsewhere, as the one here has just a tad too much dough compared to the chicken. Overall the portion is about right for me, but I suspect some many find it only 60-70% filling. Considering its price point, I'd say it's about right for the amount and quality of food that you get. Yelp check in gets you 3 small chicken dumplings for free. On the first glance, they look hard/overcooked on the outside and almost inedible, but surprisingly, they are not as hard as they look and taste good (esp when considering that they are free). Service is quick and friendly. My food was ready within 10-15 minutes of placing the order.

Yelp
Pricy asian fusion food, but I came here to try the Asian cocktails, which is a cool concept. Worth a try! My friend got the Zaleng (Thai tea cocktail), and I got the jasmine toddy (tea cocktail)! I could definitely taste the tea and the alcohol in both, and both were tasty. Thai tea cocktail was pretty sweet. The toddy was a hot drink and is nice to drink on a chilly evening. (After I ordered this, I noticed that most people in the restaurant ordered this as well!) Def a popular drink. I checked into Yelp and got some free chicken potstickers, which were alright. Decent and crispy, but nothing too special. Definitely overpriced if I had to pay for it. Portions are small here.
