"I learned that Sharing Excess has set aside avocados for local food banks, with Philabundance named as one recipient of part of the 150,000 avocados reserved for food banks." - Dayna Evans

The City Is Giving Out Free Boxes of Food to Anyone Who Needs | Eater Philly

"I saw the city is working with Philabundance to provide free boxes of food for pickup (each designed to last five days) at 20 sites on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon, with plans to add more locations; it's one box per household, anyone can get a box with no ID or proof of income required, and people can donate to Philabundance to support the program." - Rachel Vigoda

I've witnessed firsthand how essential Philabundance's work is to supporting our neighbors dealing with food insecurity. I worked at a community center that distributed weekly Philabundance groceries and takeaway meals to hundreds of those in need. You can volunteer on their website to do a 3-hour food packing shift at their distribution center. I've participated in these shifts and donor nights. It's a great workout for an important cause, and you make new friends working together.

I first encountered Philabundance in 1996, when they convinced a large fast food chain to donate their leftover chicken and sides nightly. No small feat because they had to remove any mention of the chain. They have grown to such heights, renewing my faith in humanity, all the while representing the generosity of the Delaware Valley. Keep up the great work and God bless 🙏

They're a food bank that supplies the 9 county metro Philadelphia area with fresh food and non-perishables. Their web site offers info on the areas hungry, how to help, and how to get help. Excellent volunteer opportunities and also consider starting your own at work or other personal food drive.

Wonderful non-profit organization that distributes food all over the Delaware Valley. You can volunteer at the warehouse and help sort canned goods or at one of their events in city or surrounding counties. Great organization and if you can donate to them it is greatly appreciated. Just a $1 donation can be used to make 2 meals.

My brokerage firm Johnson, Kendall & Johnson had a wonderful time volunteering today. This truly is one of the best nonprofits making a huge difference in the city of Philadelphia. Can’t wait to volunteer again

We go here every once in a while to volunteer on family night. Their introduction to what they do is great and typically, an evening of volunteering takes 2-3hrs, but it's a great way to introduce children to helping others. It's not too hard, wish they would have family volunteering more often. Great cause and great people.
