Incredible gardens!!! We were beyond impressed. It was like stepping into a little piece of Italy in the middle of Tulsa. I highly suggest walking the entire gardens and seeing all the sculptures and outdoor structures. There was plenty of space to stroll, relax, and sit down. They have done such a lovely job of keeping up with the trees and flowers. The water features were so picturesque. Anyone living in or passing through Tulsa should stop by. It seems like a lovely place for a wedding or event.

This is an incredibly beautiful place! We didn't have as much time to see everything as we wanted and I don't think we saw it all, but what we did see was quite impressive.

The outdoors was nice. The inside where all the art is some of it was ok but, most of it was not worth it.

my father and i absolutely loved it! out of all the art museums i have been to, this easily ranks top two. the grounds around the building is gorgeous, and the surrounding homes are really nice as well. we will definitely try to be back in the future! ps- the photos do not even do it an ounce of justice

This is such a hidden gem in the Tulsa area. The entrance fee is entirely reasonable, and students attending local schools are allowed in free of charge! They have phenomenal sections of art and there's something for everyone here. I'm a fan of religious and Renaissance art, and this museum certainly scratched that itch. The grounds themselves are well-maintained and this is an amazing spot for pictures! No flash photography, as for many museums, but you can snap lots of great pictures anyway!

Art in Bloom is an amazing event and this year the bar was raised. The artistry in the various pieces was breathtaking. I can't wait to visit next year to see how this event continues to grow and see all of the talented designers and work created and set up in the beautiful Philbrook.

The Philbrook is a beautiful museum in a gorgeous Tulsa neighborhood. There are rotating exhibits throughout the year and plenty of events on the calendar but Art in Bloom is a must see. It happens one weekend in April when the weather is just perfect. You can vote for the flower display that you like the best. The grounds are always impeccable for a peaceful stroll. There's plenty of parking so head over to get your zen on!

What a gem! Was in Tulsa on business travel and had some downtime to explore. I'd been told that the Philbrook was a must-see and I would agree. The museum has a nice open layout with beautiful artwork across three levels. I went on a weekday and it was quiet and very open to spend time with the art. Logistically, there are elevators (or stairs!) and some areas for seating (i.e. benches) in case you need a quick break. Overall, it's a nice flow to the space. The gardens...now that is the moment! Such a gorgeous space. Definitely gave me Europe vibes and some of the gardens I've visited. Loved it! Highly recommend the Philbrook when you're in Tulsa!

Probably one of the most beautiful museums I've ever been to and I've been to museums all over the world. This one definitely has character, a very homey feel, and I loved the fact that this museum used to be a family's home. The gardens have beautiful landscaping, but not overly done. My friend and I came here for the first time on a Saturday mid-morning/afternoon and took our time flowing through each room and exploring the outdoor gardens as well. We went after Halloween time in early November, so there were pumpkins still out by the gazebo, and the weather was beautiful for a stroll outside. There is one room that tells the history of the museum, the founders, their children, and descendants of the namesake of the museum. Surrounding the story and pictures of the founders are post-it notes filled with comments from guests, sketches of the past owners, and more. This is what I mean when I say this place has character, and is truly unique. It's "touchable" and doesn't have too many barriers to the art. It's very interactive! They have outdoor art stations for children and adults to create their own artwork with colored pencils, charcoal, oil pastels and more. I would love to bring my almost 3yo son here and make some beautiful art memories here. I have seen many photos of this famous museum online, but pictures do not do it justice! Even after reading articles about and witnessing Sophia Bush's wedding here through social media, in-person is spectacular! I can't wait to return to Philbrook and bring my family :) Thank you for a memorable experience.

Stop by and have some lunch at the Elote pop-up. The corn soup is amazing and the puffy tacos are as good as ever! Friday Marg Nights are on my calendar!!

A Tulsa treasure! Great place to bring visiting friends and family, and Philbrook is especially magnificent on a nice day when you can enjoy the gardens. Highly recommend!

Fair share of European, African, American, modern and contemporary, Native American collections. I think my favorite was the watercolor section where on a bench they have a box of magnifying glasses. You can go over to the art on the wall and see the fine detail of the artists water color strokes and details. The garden was beautiful. The only problem was it was just too hot to stay out there for too long, so I'm looking forward to returning and spending the day out in the garden. The home itself is amazing lots of different things to see and explore. The gift shop was nice to have a little fridge and for a dollar you can buy a bottle of water and some snacks that was refreshing because it was really hot out. *Military ID gets your whole party in for free currently.

I highly recommend visiting this museum when you're in Tulsa. The collections varies from American Indian pottery, Egyptian artifacts, paintings, and modern art. My favorite part is the garden. Very beautiful with variety of flowers.

Cannot say enough good things. We drove in from Topeka to check out this museum. First of all, the surrounding area/neighborhood is beautiful. Take a mini drive around and check out the lovely homes. The building itself reminds me of an old hacienda. Inside, the furnishings are pretty. The museum and its artifacts did not disappoint. We spent about 2 hours here. Fantastic collections from various periods. Please come and support this great museum.

What a absolutely lovely space. The gardens and grounds were incredible. They are art themselves. I appreciated the diversity in art shown as well as took advantage of the exhibition Remnant to Monet.

As I was searching for things to do while in Tulsa this spot came up in every blog, post, article I read. Locals call it the Versailles of Oklahoma. It's a very beautiful building and they had some nice pieces of art. It seems that the exhibits are where it's at here. The staff is extremely nice and helpful to any questions and are knowledgeable about the history. I will say my favorite part of the museum is a room where they layout the timeline and history of the building and provide sticky notes and pens for visitors to asks questions. Then the staff goes in and answers those questions! How cool is that? Love that idea!!

The Philbrook is a Tulsa staple. Any time someone comes to town, I bring them here. When we are bored on a Saturday and don't want to go to the zoo, we regularly find ourselves here. The rotating exhibits always are top notch. I love that there's always activities going on, especially ones that are little child-friendly. Even if you go get and there's no special programming happening, children of all ages will have a great time exploring the gardens as well as the play area. There are lots of community classes and events from yoga to foraging to story time and all kinds of other events that draw all sorts of people. Friday nights in the summer usually have movie nights or music on the lawn and entry is only $5. Definitely a MUST when you are in Tulsa!

The Philbrook Museum is such a treat. It's definitely a place to take your visitors. The grounds are beautiful with ample walking paths. Meticulously maintained gardens will awaken your senses. The art on display inside is fantastic. You can easily spend hours investigating all the different rooms and hallways filled with artwork of all types. A gift shop will entice you with unique items including jewellery, books, puzzles, toys and unique art. You can also grab a slice of pie or cake at the Antoinette's Bakery location.

Beyond stunning I honestly don't know what to write when the entire experience was so serene and wonderful A true gem of Tulsa that more people should visit! Oh, the gift shop is VERY fairly priced, I normally don't buy gifts but I got a huge wind chime, some gold earrings and a magnet for $50! In most museums and galleries that would be $150.

Go here. That is all. Ok, I'll tell you more. We were in town for a wedding and wanted something to do in the morning. We found the Philbrook. I booked general admission tickets for when they opened and special exhibit tickets for a half hour after that. All can be done online with a code to display on your phone. This is a mansion that was built in the late 1920s. It is opulence and excess. Each room is now used for exhibiting art. We enjoyed the pieces from their general collection. There was a room devoted to the history of Black Wallstreet. It included photographs of the devastation inflicted. The special exhibition was art of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. What a treat! Outside there are opulent gardens that are meticulously maintained. Leave time to wander the gardens, stroll along the river and go in the cabin. What an educational morning. Highly recommend.

A must for anyone visiting Tulsa or museum lovers IMO. They have a wide selection of art: indigenous, African, Asian, and Europeans. Ancient, contemporary, and futuristic for all age groups. You can easily spend 3 hours there. Don't miss out their garden though...(hint: sunflower field, cute cottage with surprises inside...) One of the finest museums in America. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our day trip to Tulsa OK highlighted by a visit to the Philbrook Museum. The collection of art in the beautiful setting was quite enjoyable. Equally impressive was the serene gardens which reminded us of Italian gardens. The collection included local artists, both newcomers and historians sharing stories of the place and times. They also had a large section of Children's artwork. Frida will be on exhibit in July and I am sorry to miss being able to see her works.

Tulsa has a diamond shining here!! If you enjoy seeing some amazing art or want to relax your busy brain for a bit....the bustle in this city is known for that. But Tulsa is also known for housing the great works of artists too!! Here at the Philbrook, you'll get to witness a lot. There are so many things to explore here with family, friends, and strangers.... but you're here for the same reason, to appreciate art! They do have a website and add to your reminders via email, to alert you when they have major events and new "visiting" exhibitions. There is not enough time in one day to rake in the history and stories the art tells. The art here speaks!! I just wish they'd bring the singing choir for the Christmas caroling they had in the atrium that I did once get to capture in late November in 1999!! The music bounced off the halls in the musuem. To me, that created a memory of magick! Take a step into their garden areas, explore the small portioned park area for picnics and family time! They do have a restaurant as well. I'll post pictures of some of my visits, visits past. Enjoy this Tulsa icon!

First visit to Tulsa and this museum. Situated in the mansion once owned by the Philbrook oil baron family is beautifully preserved and a stunning site to see. The gardens even in winter we lovely. I can't wait to visit in summer. The collection was diverse with many different artistic genres. I was told it rotates and changes frequently. I loved the log cabin on the property. The use of t shirts and various glass pieces to get a stained glass effect was mind blowing. I would definitely recommend you visit

Beautiful museum and grounds. I lucked out and visited in early/mid April when the tulips were at their most impressive and colorful. This venue is manageable in size, but wonderful in variation. They had classical art, religious art, indigenous art, African sculpture and masks. They had wonderful exhibits on black history and black Wall Street, as well as large scale pieces by black artists. And these pieces had their own thoughtful rooms and displays; they were not afterthoughts, as in some museums. They also had modern paintings and sculptures. Architecture here is also worth viewing and photographing. Great restaurant on site for brunch/lunch/breakfast (reviewed separately). Tickets were 12 dollars. Well worth it for the depth and breadth of the art, the beauty of the gardens, and a leisurely meal at a nice restaurant.

I've been to Philbrook Museum for many times but never get tired of it. Always love seeing their permanent exhibit looking at some familiar faces also enjoy seeing some new temporary exhibit. My favorite spot is always the English Garden. Sad that the restaurant wasn't there anymore, but the last time we went there the service was bad & the food wasn't great. But it would be nice if they keep the restaurant & upgrade their menu & service.

Wow My wife and I visit around the country and probably see 40 to 70 art galleries/ museums each year. The reviews for Philbrook museum contain high praise but I really didn't connect with this museum. The works are quite varied and displayed in a non-congruence manner. It's disjointed, and doesn't speak to style, period, format or any other presentation method. Really the building and some furnishings are more interesting and better displayed than the "Art". The gardens are well designed but lack color/ and appropriate plantings for the early summer when we visited Bottom line, this visit was disappointing

Probably my favorite museum, even coming from NYC I'd definitely visit Tulsa again just to visit. Amazing array of art from contemporary local artists to historical works you'd see in any other art museum. Love that there is a lot of space dedicated to Tulsa and Greenwood history and a focus on the black narrative of history and segregation. You can spend literally a few hours here exploring the garden and finding all the different swings. There is also another smaller garden lined with picturesque landscaping and swings. To our surprise, we unexpectedly stumbled upon another exhibit in a small log cabin with beautiful stained glass windows and ceiling light fixtures - probably our favorite part. Highlight: if you're traveling or catching a flight, there is an unattended coat check room where you can leave luggage or bags. There's also about 15 lockers for smaller bags that require a quarter (returned when you open the locker). All staff are friendly and welcoming, also helpful over the phone.

Always take out of town guests here. Even people from big cities are wowed by the garden. It's lovely. Used to take them to eat at the restaurant, but I feel the view from the patio is more obstructed than it used to be?

We had THE BEST time visiting the most Beautiful gardens in all Of Tulsa! Right from the drive up they had a wonderful helper to direct us and give us all of the details. She was so thorough and helpful. My family had a wonderful time with all the kids activities and gardens. It was a gorgeous day to visit. I appreciated the exhibits- especially the exhibits with culture and history on the Tulsa Race Riots, prominent and relevant African American authors and artists. There is so much beauty and charm here at the Philbrook. The welcoming members working the front door and desk were such a breath of fresh air. Thank you, Philbrook for making our day so grand!

Lots and lots of picture opts here! Loved the outside probably the most. Just a beautiful area. We came in the summer and was really hot even in the morning but hey, it's the Midwest and it's summer. Too many pics to post but a must see if you are in the area.

I'm usually not one to rave on museums, but I really enjoyed my recent trip here with my husband, mom, sister, and 5 year old niece! We visited around a month ago on a very hot Saturday. Thankfully, the AC was bumping inside, so we got to forget about the heat for a bit. They seemed really busy, but the place is so big, I didn't notice swarms of people at all. There were tons of different exhibits that held everyone's attention. I liked how many interactive ones they had, too. For example, they had a "take a button, leave a button" exhibit. I can't recall if that was the official name of it, but the idea was to design a button using art supplies like markers and recycled magazine clippings. You then left your design in a box that the staff later turned into a button. On the wall near the workspace were all the completed buttons, so once you were done designing one, you got to pick one off the wall. The gardens out back are breathtakingly beautiful. The butterfly wings you see on my niece were provided by the museum for kids to play with and return. My niece lovvvved flapping around the gardens as a butterfly! My mom had a stroke recently and can barely walk. She uses a cane and gets around really slow. I was happy to see how accessible all the exhibits were for her. There was an elevator to get from floor to floor and none of the exhibits were too close together to make it hard for her to get around. This place is definitely a great place to visit with your fam!

What an amazing museum! I love the changing exhibits and the permanent ones. My favorite time of year is the spring because the tulips are gorgeous when in bloom!

Philbrook has always been a staple! There are so many neat things that the museum host as well as the cafe, the exhibits. We love the Philbrook

The museum is worth spending a couple hours when you are in Tulsa. The garden and building are beautiful. Those are the reasons to visit, in my opinion. Being frequent visitor at many bigger museums, the exhibitions are not that exciting, but I appreciated the section focusing on Greenwood and liked the exhibition on the art created during COVID-19 and the 2020 protests. Mask policy has been updated and is aligned with CDC guidelines. As of end of May 2021, if you are vaccinated, you don't need to wear a mask. Obviously this is based on a honor policy.

The Philbrook is an old family favorite. Come for the beautiful garden and stay for the art! The museum is nestled in a beautiful neighborhood with gorgeous estates. The Philbrook has a wonderful garden and is a must visit when in Tulsa.

Very nice exhibits and collections! No complaints about staff as I haven't conversed much with them. But the gardens are TO DIE FOR as they are very nice for picture taking and nice to walk through.

Wow!!! This is a gem nestled in Tulsa!! The art is a range of 15th century to modern. I really can't believe the excellent conditions that some of the extremely old ls were in. That alone was worth the trip! The cafe inside was great for a snack in between exploring the art and the gardens! Even emerging from winter, the Italian renaissance themed garden was stunning! We spent a few hours here popping in and out to warm up and explore the gardens. It was the perfect day.

I have seriously been all over the U.S. and the Philbrook ranks as one of the most interesting museums I have been too and is a must if you are in Tulsa. There are three main reasons to visit 1. The museum (former mansion) architecture is a reason to go in itself--you won't find a more beautiful museum 2. The gardens-These gardens can compete with any arboretum...extremely beautiful. 3. The art-they have a very nice collection, and I was impressed that they had a piece by Kehinde Wiley, the artist who painted Obama This museum was a highlight in our visit to Tulsa, but I think this museum is the best in Oklahoma and definitely competes against some in major cities in the US.

Philbrook is a museum of art and history wrapped into one. It's a Tulsa landmark that shows a piece of history from its past as the Oil Capital of the world. Growing up in Tulsa, I've gone here innumerable times, but when I saw that Artist Anila Quayyum Agha's exhibit - Shadow of Time - was displayed, I knew I had to make another trip. Her work is absolutely stunning and worth the trip. We had gone during the day to avoid the crowd since during the holiday season, especially the weekend right after Thanksgiving, the Festival Nights run from Thanksgiving until the end of December. The museum is decorated with Christmas lights and there are a lot of activities for families. If you have younger kids, this is a wonderful activity for the holidays!

This place is splendid! Philbrook is definitely a Tulsa landmark that is a must see...The beautiful grounds are breathtaking, and the exhibits are inspiring. The walk through the museum is relaxing, and since it's not a Hearst Castle, you don't go on art overload. I would love to take a friend here, or treat Mom on Mother's Day and have lunch inside the Kitchen 27. The food and service there is fabulous! I also came here to enjoy the evening Holiday Festival. The parking was nicely orchestrated when you arrive, and it was free! Since we had a young child in tow, the first thing we did was head to do a craft and she loved it! Afterwards, we walked out to the train rides but the wait in the frigid cold was torturous! Be sure to grab a hot chocolate $6 (they do take plastic;) to warm you up while you wait. The gardens were lit up so beautifully and there was a hamburger/hot dogs/chips tent outside, but I highly recommend Kitchen 27 ~ Also, be sure to treat yourself to something nifty at their gift shop. There are some beautifully handmade jewelry that is worth the spend;-)

What an absolutely incredible gem of a museum. I had read about this place, which was a major motivation for my wanting to visit Tulsa - I have told my friends more than once that it is "the Versailles of the Midwest" and I think it lived up to that in some ways (although note that it's more of an Italian style home, but you hopefully can appreciate that it's a large home filled with art and surrounded by a garden and grounds that are expansive). It is a 70ish room house with an incredible garden area that has been turned into an art museum. The collection is varied and spread across the three floors and the various rooms - which makes it feel approachable and digestable in many ways. The gardens themselves certainly warrant a visit throughout various seasons. So much to see, explore and enjoy. Don't miss the cabin with the stained glass. And certainly recommend visiting at sunset (they are open until 9 pm on Fridays for a discounted admission fee of $5) for incredible views and picture opportunities. Friday nights are burger nights, which looked fun - we just opted to do the museum and gardens themselves and enjoy a meal elsewhere given how hot it was the evening we were there. There seemed to be ample parking and the staff was friendly and helpful - with directions and photo taking assistance.

The Philbrook was an outstanding experience overall - if you go to Tulsa, it is a must do. Nestled in a beautiful suburban neighborhood, they have a modest collection of art, spanning everything from old masters to modern, spread throughout an old mansion and its basement and adjacent wings. We particularly liked the Native American art; the pueblo room downstairs is not to be missed. Perhaps the best part are the grounds and garden, complete with resident cat Cleome! We loved walking around on a beautiful spring day. The Philbrook is a real gem.

Gorgeous location! Stopped in for a visit on a day trip to Tulsa. Cost of admission is relatively in-expensive - $9 for adults. There are a few discounts for groups, and senior citizens as well, and your ticket also allows entry to their downtown location. FREE for youths under 17 and local college students! So the museum itself is three levels of artwork, some of which changes out from time to time. The main level had some beautiful sculptures and paintings, lower level had a Mexican exhibit, and honestly I do not remember a lot about the top (war exhibits I believe) because once I caught a glimpse of the gardens from the main floor, all else was lost (can you tell from the 100 pics I posted?!?). To note here - you can take as many pics as you like - no flash inside and no use of tripods anywhere on the property. Drawn to the outside, the gardens are absolutely gorgeous, well-kept, and strikingly serene. Even though there were quite a few people around, there was still an air of tranquility as I strolled through the many different areas of the garden. It is reminiscent of Italian villas and gardens. From the main floor, you step out to a beautifully manicured maze-type garden replete with ground water fountains, spilling into a pond and ending with a lovely gazebo. Walk around to the back right side, past the bridge and keep going. It looks like there is not a lot back there, save for a couple of statues, but once you go all the way around and get up the stairs, it opens to another gorgeous garden with another fountain and metal "half-cage" sitting areas. Lovely setting for a romantic stroll or some quiet reflection time. Truly enjoyed my visit here and highly recommend if you're in Tulsa. There are docent-guided tours at 2 pm on the days they are open, if you want to learn more about the museum and exhibits. Or go enjoy some lunch at the museum restaurant!

Fantastic museum with gorgeous gardens! I have wanted to come here for years and I was so excited to finally get the chance to this past weekend. A really nice collection, ranging in everything from antiquities to contemporary art. There is something for everyone to enjoy at this museum. We had lunch at the museum cafe and that was really great. Tasty food and great service!

Wow wow wow! My new favorite museum! The architecture rivals European museums and my favorite architecturally gorgeous museum in the US, the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City. The Philbrook is housed in a former residence and sits on 25 acres of the most beautiful grounds- you'll feel like you're in Tuscany when you're there. It's huge, but seems navigable in one day. We wandered the European and modern collections, as well as the grounds, for about 2 hours and felt like we got a good feel for it. We will definitely be back. This is a must visit place!

This museum is outstanding. Gorgeous grounds and inventive integration of special exhibitions, From The Limitations of Now and Views of Greenwood amongst the the permanent collection. Great shows.

Been a member for 30 years. This museum rates high with the people who travel the world. I especially love the layout, spacious and full of one of Tulsa's great oil giant's history and benevolence. Lunch overlooking the beautiful garden and a walk afterwards is why I always take my guests. They are impressed with the art and enjoy the light lunches.

The garden/back courtyard of the Philbrook makes it 5 stars all on its own! It was my absolute favorite stop in Tulsa. You feel like you're in an Italian villa when you're really in the middle of the good ol US of A. The building itself is absolutely incredible. There's some beautiful art pieces in there. My favorite was a piece by Kehinde Wiley. Absolutely recommend going if you're visiting or a local to Tulsa!

I've wanted to return to this museum since my first visit a number of years ago. Old oil money funneled into an opulent villa comprising gardens and art, the art -- as good as much of it is -- often takes a back seat to the villa's stunning interior and magnificent gardens just outside. While there is only a minor sampling of Egyptian and African art, there are a number of old masters on the walls (thanks to a bequest from the Samuel Kress collection that was dispersed among a number of museums throughout the country years ago). The major strengths are 19th century and early 20th century art and Native American art. Sometimes, major art museum overwhelm visitors with their large-scale galleries. Here, the galleries and gardens -- although on quite the large estate -- are intimate and relaxing. Strolling back-and-forth between the interior and exterior spaces is typical here. Of course, the manicured gardens are so breathtaking that many visitors probably skip past the art to spend time basking in the greenery. If you don't have the time or money for that vacation in the Italian countryside, just drive to Tulsa. The Philbrook may just suffice.
