I was thrilled to order from a minority-owned chocolatier. I had been gifted his chocolate once and enjoyed it so much. I ordered three boxes as thank-you presents to colleagues, and although I patiently called and emailed, I did not get a response. When he finally responded, he said that he was short-staffed and would have it out next week. Then, when it was not sent, I emailed again, and he said that he had been sick. This was four weeks into my order, so I requested a refund, which he agreed to provide. However, he did not send my refund. I went to my credit card company to ask them not to pay him and return my money, but I only received $200- $ 300 because he lied and told the credit card company that he had sent the chocolates. He is not to be trusted.

SO WORTH THE WAIT!! Pre-ordered the Taste of America chocolates in early spring, with an expectation of a July delivery. Due to production and shipping delays, I didn't receive them until yesterday (Sept 9th). Phillip Ashley Chocolates did an excellent job communicating throughout the process, so I didn't feel forgotten. Living in Hawaii, I was worried about the heat, but the shipment arrived quickly and perfectly intact. The packaging is beautiful and patriotic. The chocolates themselves are gorgeous and delectable. I absolutely love the creativity and depth of the flavors. I will definitely be ordering again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND PHILLIP ASHLEY CHOCOLATES!!

WOW!!! I had been wanting to come here for a long time but couldn’t justify adding fancy quality chocolates into the monthly budget. Well, they had a sale and I ordered online. Pick-up in person was easy and fast…my order was ready in around 2-3 days. These chocolates were worth every dang penny! Loved the unique flavors, flawless presentation, and quality customer service. The Taste of Memphis box would be such a wonderful gift for any chocolate lover…or in my case just a treat for yourself. My only complaint is that I can’t just show up at the store and make a chocolate selection from a display counter, but I’m sure there is a way to make your own box online. I will definitely be back!

First...let me say that I have not eaten them yet. Ordered in January...called last week as I had not received my order...was told that someone would call me back this weekend after repeatedly asking me if I had received anything and telling me that they had been worming very hard...Nope...then I received an email yesterday 4/21/21 that they had been delivered. First let me say...opening that box is magical and mystifying. Each box of turtles was packaged inside of a Styrofoam pack that was vacuum sealed and contained three ice packs. Even though they were on my porch overnight they were ice cold when I opened them....and when I opened them..they were huge..not uniform...and you could tell...hand packaged..not put together by a machine...but by someones aunt or uncle...nothing but LOVE...I respect that level of commitment in these days and times and understand why his huge number of orders took so long....seeing the size if these gave me a new found respect for Phillip Ashley and his team. I simply cannot wait to enjoy them with a nice glass of wine. If you are thinking about cancelling like I almost did...do not...small businesses need the support and when you see the level of time and love placed into your order...I know that I sincerely appreciated it...cannot wait to taste. The lack of star is for the delay but the communication was excellent.

How can you justify taking more orders when others haven’t been fulfilled??? My dad placed an order December 20. He has been waiting since then! It’s July!!!! He has gotten a bunch of emails regarding delays. Of course, it’s understandable that business started to boom after Oprah, but only to an extent! My dad was even in Memphis from Indiana this weekend for the holiday and just thought he would stop in to pick them up since they still hadn’t shipped, only to find a sign that said they are only taking online orders! He has been very patient up to this point, but that is quickly dwindling. He can’t even get a response back from this company for a refund or to figure out what to do about his order! Supporting black businesses can be hit or miss! I’ve noticed they like to clap back on bad reviews, but the point it we gotta do better!

Just go for the “hot sauce” and the “collard greens”. They were so delicious. The amount of sweetness was perfect the crack when you bite in was perfect. I was nervous to order in the summer, but the chocolates came in perfect condition. The packaging is amazing. Although they came about a week and. Half later than my expedited order, they were definitely worth the wait.

I’m echoing what other reviewers have mentioned about online purchases. It’s been a week and nothing. I emailed them asking about the order and no reply. I should have done my research and look for a more reputable business to send a gift to my godparents. Do not support this business. Can’t attest to their in-store experience but do not shop online on their website! Edit (21/11/23): I’m happy to announce that the chocolates finally arrived! After almost 3 months 😂 So I decided to email them again just for fun to see if they would respond and they did! They shipped the chocolates out immediately. Recipients enjoyed the chocolate. They look beautiful. To all those who still have undelivered online orders, try your luck by contacting them! They may reply and send your order…eventually!

Gorgeous to look at, unbelievably delicious chocolates. I know Phillip Ashley Chocolates got slammed with orders (7,000 of them overnight) after the ABC News story about them. Scaling that fast has got to be tough for any small business, but these chocolates are worth the wait. They were a gift, and arrived a week and a half later than planned (apparently), so plan accordingly for the time being. But they've staffed up, so I'd anticipate a smoother delivery process in the future. The flavors are varied and exotic, and every one of them has so many different notes. Do yourself a favor and buy these chocolates for yourself at least once! "Wonder Woman" is my favorite. My teenager loves "Burlesque."

Even before Phillip Ashley Rix became a nationally renowned chocolatier: distributed at the 2013 Oscars; appearing on Oprah Winfrey favorite things list in 2020; or recognized by James Beard in 2023 and 2024. We have been impressed and amazed by his EXQUISITE chocolate creations!!! This week, I received an email that a six-piece "Taste of Memphis" would be available at Buster's Liquors & Wines. On the way home from date-night (excellent dinner at Ciao Bella Italian Grill and a short losing visit to Southland Casino); "THE" Girlfriend said she could really enjoy a Phillip Ashley chocolate. To her surprise, I drove to Buster's and purchased a six-piece "Taste of Memphis". Hearing and watching her enjoy 2 of those ELEGENT chocolates on the drive home was such a delight.

In response to Phillip's post in October asking for purchase details, I emailed him and his shop my proof of purchase from last December and sent two follow-up emails. He has not responded to any of those emails and has not provided the purchased chocolates (which were to be a Christmas gift last year) or a refund. Regardless of how good his chocolates might be, how can he treat customers so poorly and expect to remain in business?

Like a few of the other reviews I also placed an order, for around $140 in November of 2023. It had been weeks & I had forgotten about it. I reached them in December 2023 & for several months of 2024. Explaining that I don't want any product since some of the items were seasonal & were no longer available. I just wanted my money back. I would email, then be blocked on that email or they would be working with a new email altogether. I was unable to get a refund from the bank because more than 90 days passed. I'd filed with the BBB, but they just ignored that. I sent several emails, they just ignored those also. Until someone finally responded with a bold face lie about sending me back my money. I NEVER GOT MY MONEY BACK. He boasts about servicing celebrity clientele, meanwhile he's stealing from regular folks.

Just straight up never got the product. It was meant to a a Christmas gift to my mom and I never received it. My mom tried to get him to issue a refund and he completely ghosted her before blocking her entirely. The best the bank could do was send us half the money back and the rest I still have to pay off. This was last year and the purchase was nearly 300 dollars. No full refund. No product. Just a bunch of lies. She was so excited to try them too and that is the part I hate the most. She was genuinely so sad when she found out he scammed me and that meant I couldn't get her another gift in enough time. She had wanted these chocolates all year and wanted them ON CHRISTMAS. Just deplorable.

I placed an order for the perfect turtles in July of 2024. The estimated shipping date was sometime in August 2024. When I didn't receive them, I sent an email to the business & Mr. Ashley responded. He explained that there were some delays, but the were coming. Over the course of 7 months, we had several of the same email exchanges. I finally asked for a refund about 4 months ago, and I still haven't gotten it. My patience was taken for granted, and now I feel robbed. Proceed at your own risk.

A 4.5 definitely!! Since March 2020 life has changed so sometimes someone deserves an extra special treat! I was introduced to him at a Monogram loves kids Gala. White chocolate & bacon were paired! He has a pallet beyond my comprehension-though I consider myself a "foodie"! For those who are curious; here's the place!! Out of 7 boxes the StPatrick single type not bad just not grand was the least interesting 2 types or more should have been considered and definitely appreciated...Their turtles are legendary - the size of my palm & caramel to die for!! I loved the Mother's Day and the exoticness of flavors - just divine!! Now do not be shocked, but the prices are astronomical! The flavors/combos/liquors/artistic decorations & save-able boxes get your attention - wanting/needing/longing to see what he brings next makes you come back!! I encourage all to try it!!

Disappointing- Ordered chocolates early December - 2023. I was told that my items were going to arrive before Christmas. It never came nor had I received a response as to why my shipment never came. I filed a dispute from PayPal, then they finally replied that my order was scheduled to ship two weeks ago...never came. Last week they sent me a tracking number that stayed in 'label created' status that was never processed. It's now February 8th and I finally received my refund through PayPal. I've ordered from them in the past with similar delivery and customer service issues but not to this degree. Their items are delicious- some of the best chocolate I've ever had. I found them on Oprah's favorite items list. Not anymore. I really wanted to support this local business but they unfortunately failed miserably. Don't buy.

NEVER TRUST Phillip Ashley worst customer service ever ordered first week of November supposed overnight shipping here we are te months later received zilch from them nothing but a fraud, scam, thief repeating asked for status and always promised product shipped fed ex always said waiting for shipment from seller Phillip constantly lied about shipping then promised to ship with extra because of delays still nothing try to get a refund he con to delay and then PayPal holds refund because Phillip payed with echeck so now we have to wait and un echeck "clears" NEVER TRUST this seller or Phillip of course now he's blocked us They deserve. minus 5 stars

I placed an online order on October 31,2024. I have not received it as of today February 2,2025. I made two attempts by phone and two attempts by email to resolve the situation. I have yet to receive a response even though they were quick to take my money on November 1st. I strongly suggest that you take a trip to Memphis if you want to try the chocolates. They have no business on line if they are unable to handle the orders they receive. I am truly disappointed. The chocolates are quite tasty but you risk losing your money with every order.

EDIT: The company's response to my previous one-star review deserves an honest response. I was genuinely surprised to receive an email from Mr. Ashley promising to see my order completed and delivered. He was true to his word. My order arrived well packaged and looked appetizing. I ordered the turtles and, in few words, they were magnificent. The portions were generous. The flavors harmonized beautifully, each retaining its unique character while complementing each other perfectly. Mr. Ashley's reputation as a masterful chocolatier is well deserved.

WOW! I'm grateful for the opportunity to have attended a live chocolate and champagne tasting via Zoom courtesy of Phillip Ashely Chocolates. First off, the process of receiving the treats was flawless. They arrived at my home one day before my event. The packing was very professional and the presentation unforgettable. They sent a briefcase. How cool is that?! Loved the pleasant surprise. When it came time for the event, the Zoom began promptly and Phillip couldn't have been more knowledgeable and welcoming. In full candor, this was my first chocolate tasting so I had some basic questions like whether to eat the piece of chocolate in one bite or break it up? (If you're wondering, two bites are recommended but there's zero judgment if you do otherwise). The thought, energy, and passion Phillip invests in his craft is undeniable. It was a true pleasure to indulge in each of his creations, piece-by-piece. He took great care to double-check we were eating the correct piece then explained the story behind its creation and delved deep into the flavor profile. Eating each piece almost proved challenging. Just look at them--they are like works of art. Each with vibrant colors and designs. They were incredible. So rich and unique. I'm torn between a favorite but the Love Potion No. 9 was a standout: "Lavender infused dark chocolate ganache kissed with Madagascar vanilla." Such bold decadent flavors. The depth of the dark chocolate ganache melded perfectly with the floral lavender. Oh, how I miss that bite. Thank you, Phillip, and your team for an incredible experience!

In spite of reading the reviews about people not receiving there chocolates I ordered on December 5th hoping to get them for Christmas. But it is now the 17th and my order status has not changed from awaiting processing. I am a first time buyer and really hope this is not going to be my story I reached out for a status update and haven't heard anything yet Please Lord I don't wanna fight my credit card company for a refund... I give an extra star for the product which, if you are lucky enough to receive it ,it is fabulous. Other than that, this "business" lacks in EVERY other way. Customer service is nonexistent, orders go totally ignored and unshipped and - if you do get correspondence from them - it is condescending and unprofessional. I discovered PA 3 years ago and have ordered things for myself, but mostly for gifts. I'd say timely shipping happens about 30% of the time. Holiday 2023 I experienced the fun of not having my order ship at all! I figured I was helping a small business work out it's kinks, but after 3 years, I am done.

Taste of California LIVE Virtual Tasting In perusing the company's website with the intent to order Bacon, I came across the listing for the virtual tasting. I was intrigued by the idea and decided to attend the tasting as chocolate and wine are two of my favorite things. The customer service is exceptional as I was contacted by phone to verify my address prior to shipment, then once the order shipped to know that tracking was available, and a final update on the date of delivery. The items were sealed with coolant packs to maintain the integrity of the items during shipping. The packaging of the chocolates was very impressive. Enclosed were the instructions on accessing the event on Zoom. Hosted by the chocolatier himself, the tasting took the attendees on a tour of the entire state of California through a limited edition 6-piece collection of his decadent chocolates accompanied with a lush, robust wine pairing AND a slamming soundtrack by DJ Alpha Whiskey. Each piece was introduced with an anecdote and the area of the state that served as its inspiration. The pieces are as aesthetically pleasing as they are to the palate. As the tasting took place, there was a medley of songs representing the area played. 1). Sunrise (Blood Orange, Tequila, Vanilla Bean) - San Diego 2). Margarita (Lime Sour, Tequila, Kosher Salt) - Baja 3). Porta (Port Wine, Goat Cheese, Fig Jam) - San Francisco 4). Zola (Roasted Peaches, Blue Gorgonzola Dolce) - Napa Valley 5). Kaleidoscope (Lemon Macadamia Nut) - Hollywood 6). RichFresh (Blueberry, Curry, Lemon Peel, Ginger) - Calabasas The wine was a 2016 Old Vine Zinfandel from Bogle Vineyards of California. I've already visited their site and located where I can purchase more of it locally. I enjoyed this virtual event and plan to attend more in the future.

We also ordered turtles in December and never received them. After being patient for a few months, we reached our limit and reached out for a refund. Emails and phone calls--some answered, some not--resulted in nothing. Finally, on July 13 they sent an email (see attached photo) saying order was canceled and refunded. What do you think happened after that? NOTHING. NO REFUND was ever issued. The owner is either incompetent at running a business or unethical. Or both. I have no idea if the chocolates are good and I no longer care. When you don't get the product or your money back, it's just a SCAM. Don't walk away from Phillip Ashley Chocolates--RUN. UPDATE: Within minutes of my posting this review, they sent me 39 dollars directly through Paypal (instead of as a refund) along with a rude message + an email + a response to my google review--in all of them basically suggesting that it was my responsibility to chase down the refund and why would I think they wouldn't have tried to process it? Gee, why do you think I wouldn't trust you after waiting 8 MONTHS for order fulfillment or cancelation and receiving nothing? Sadly, the only thing that inspired a quick response and prompt resolution was to leave them a bad review.

I love Phillip Ashley Chocolates. Just tried the Popstar Popcorn and it is the best chocolate covered popcorn I've ever had. All of the flavors of the popcorn chocolate and pecans just melt in your mouth. I highly recommend Popstar Popcorn. Delicious!!!!

Tried twice, never again. Very disappointed in how poorly this expensive chocolate company is run. Extreme shipping wait (or no shipping at all) left a bad taste in my mouth. My 1st order - did eventually receive chocolate turtles but months too late to gift as intended. My 2nd chance order - Ordered (& paid for) 3 "Advent" calendars in June, I requested refund in Dec. when it became apparent they missed the promised Thanksgiving shipping date & wouldn't be shipped even in time to arrive as gifts for Christmas. The quality of any product becomes inconsequential when customers pay & are uncertain if/when product will be delivered.

I'm not trying to give them grief just because they got slammed with orders. I get it, sucks to get slammed with orders--because of good press--and not be able to handle it. I'm giving them grief because my poor, poor better half ordered one of their overpriced chocolate samplers WELL in time for Valentine's Day and even paid for expedited shipping. What did these people do? They kept his money, created a shipping label (LIES!) to push back on chargebacks nearly immediately, and then shipped the chocolates...7 weeks later. Their communication throughout this entire thing was HORRIBLE, borderline rude--basically, "yeah you'll get your chocolates when we get around to it." Unfortunately, I'm now stuck with chocolates I don't want and have nothing but a terrible taste in my mouth due to the unprofessionalism and lack of communication demonstrated by this shoddy outfit. They should have, at the very least, offered refunds on expedited shipping or, if they had any sense, refunded these orders. In other words, these people suck.

This joint opened in 2012 but I just discovered the wonder of chef Philip Ashley's outrageously inventive chocolates. I received a box called a taste of Memphis running the gamut from The King, Peanut butter bourbon, Muddy Water, a mint cookie, and the Grizzness, hickory smoked bacon, delta pecans and caramel ganache. The chocolates are beautiful and beautifully tasting. Definitely a unique chocolate experience packed for delivery as if these are fragile and delicate works of art. Worth a splurge for a special someone or occasion.

The wheels have come off at PAC. Unfortunate because they have truly great chocolates. Customer service is nonexistent. They accept orders that are never delivered or delivered way past the commitment date. Communications are contentious at best. They make it the customer's fault/responsibility for failed shipments or refunds. Very disappointing to see a local business, with a great product simply flame out for lack of business skills/management. Beginning Jan. 2024 they will no longer accept orders from individuals. Based on my experience with them and the experiences reported by many others, I don't think this strategy will address their underlying issues. Good while it lasted.

This is truly some of the best/beautiful chocolate that I have ever had! Every bite is filled with rich and creamy ingredients. You can tell that Phillip Ashley puts a lot of time, effort, and dedication into his work. I cannot get over the designs and the various flavors that they offer. You can get anything from strawberry to sweet potato and I guarantee you that the quality and goodness will be the same. I also love the fact that during special holidays the offer designs and flavors accordingly. This is truly a staple and sophisticated fine chocolate shop here in Memphis. This chocolate isn't only delicious, it's pretty, too. It's expensive but it's definitely worth it. They are very focused on how it looks- even to the point where the shapes of the chocolates and the containers they are in are designed to make sure they stay right side up. They also are eco friendly: all of their chocolates are insulated in corn starch containers which can be dissolved in water and used as plant food. We were so impressed by the samples at the Official Yelp Event, hubby got the Galaxy Collection for our anniversary. It was a lot of fun going through each flavor and trying them together. Terrible customer service. Failed to ship to of the three holiday items I ordered. Rude replies to my emails asking on order status. Owner promised refund and to ship items after about a dozen emails....never did either. AVOID!!!

I normally don't post bad reviews but this was just egregious. Ordered in early Nov for December delivery christmas gifts. Charged my card immediately for the $200. Then crickets. No product, no response to inquiry email, phone lines have been shut down. You literally cannot communicate with this business unless they choose to talk to you. Had to go through Amex to initiate a refund as I could not get a response from the company. Wish I had looked at Yelp before ordering but the website was beautiful and I skipped the normal review checks when dealing with a new vendor, shame on me!

Now I realize all the hassle all of last year, etc But I got an email couple of weeks ago saying I would be getting my order in the near future, I'm still waiting. I'm sure the candy is delicious so I hope I get it and I will re-evaluate my rating and comments.

Tonight we attended a chocolate and spirits pairing at Phillip Ashley Chocolates and had a wonderful time. Phillip telling his story and the story behind each chocolate added so much to the experience. The chocolates were incredible - so creamy and a burst of amazing flavors in each bite. Each piece is beautifully hand painted a wonderful experience. I picked out six flavors to take home and try. I know they will not disappoint.

I'm beyond pissed. How in the hell do people ordering in Jan and Feb get their orders before people that ordered in DECEMBER!? Like many others, I ordered from Oprah's favorite things. TWO orders in fact, and for a pretty penny. Was hoping to get for xmas for my mom and for my neighbors. I get an email, "hey, we were featured on tv and are swamped... so sorry." Ok, great! Happy someone got a dose of happiness during the pandemic! First update said Jan, then Feb, then March. I emailed, never heard anything back. Didnt get an update after March and IT IS NOW MAY!!! SIX MONTHS AFTER I ORDERED AND THEY JUST FELL OFF THE MAP CONTACTING PEOPLE!?? THIS IS BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE!!! I want my money back and I want it back NOW! Two orders... #5973 ordered Dec 17 and #9109 ordered Dec 22. The chocolates look really delicious, but at this point I'm so angry that eating them would turn to ash in my mouth! PS - BE SURE TO CHECK THE FILTERED REVIEWS TO SEE JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY HAVE SCREWED OVER!

Due to the pandemic, weather and just things happening in this world, I waited a long time for my chocolate turtles. I finally received them today. I was excited about getting them because of the wait and because I heard good things about how they taste. I am working from home, so when they were delivered, I grabbed the package and got back to work. After awhile my curiosity got the best of me, I cut half of the turtle ,they are not the normal size turtle. Once I started eating the piece that I cut I started back working shortly there after I had to go back for the other half, honestly it was the best tasting turtle I have ever had. My husband asked would I order again, I said YES. Once they catch up, and things are back to some sort of normalcy, I will order some for myself and my employees. They are addictive. Yes the wait was long, but thankfully they are really good.

I have NO IDEA whether or not their chocolates are good. I placed an order with them on 12/17/2020 and still have not received my order despite numerous attempts to get the order filled and delivered. I ABSOLUTELY GIVE UP!!!!! Most frustrating customer experience I've had. First, they blamed the national news for their backlog then they blamed bad weather in February. It's now the middle or March and still no product. I'm guessing they filled lots of valentines order but not mine from Christmas.....because they already had their money and really don't care, despite telling me a month ago that they would make this a top priority. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY - IT'S A SCAM!!!!

This is not a review of their chocolate, because I would have to have gotten them. Ordered on December 17th, 2020. After several emails and texts, the last one telling me that they had shipped my order on February 5th. Well I haven't received it, no one is responding I'm out $70 bucks and can't even get my money back. Seems that you can't get your chocolate unless you buy it in person. Glad you got your chocolates Oprah, you may have been the only one seeing some of the reviews here. ps: if I ever get my chocolate I'll update my review.

Shipping and customer service has been awesome. I ordered something 9/15 and it arrived today, 9/16! I ordered two weeks before I needed the chocolates thinking it would be a delay in shipping and boy was I wrong. I would definitely recommend the Burlesque & Mama Jean chocolates. So yummy! The wine & chocolate tasting have been a hit amongst my friends. Such a good idea for a girls night.

I ordered 2 boxes of chocolates as Christmas gifts. They didn't arrive in time for the holidays, but I figured no big deal, the recipients were adults and didn't mind a wait. When the chocolates arrived, they were packaged with cold packs that were still cool to the touch... so I was really surprised when we bit into the chocolates and they were clearly spoiled. Both boxes. Like "tried to choke them down and couldn't had to spit them out" spoiled. I was excited to support a small business, but after throwing nearly $100 in the trash, I have to say spend your money elsewhere.

The chocolate Turtle was good but the 6 piece signature collection was mediocre. Once I finally received my ordered I noticed immediately that they decided to pack my Turtles in a bag. Now the photo shows them in a box on the website and as they were a gift , I expected my chocolates which I paid $39.00 for to be placed nicely in a box, not thrown in a bag. It took 3 months for me to get my order. 3 months everyone! They never sent a status update nothing. And when I contacted them I got excuses about delays, water issues etc. They did apologize when I contacted them and advised that they would send me something for my troubles. Well guess what??? They didn't do that. I paid them $73.00 for chocolates that took over 3 months to arrive , didn't compensate me in any way, and threw my chocolates in a bag. Presentation is everything and they just showed me through this entire experience that they didn't care. See attached pictures. I think because this company was featured on Oprah and Tamara Hall they have gotten big headed and they are not catering to good customer service. Buyer Beware!!! Stick with Godiva chocolates and get your chocolates on time and in a pretty gold box!

Ring the bell it's time to fight if you touch my turtles from Phillip Ashley. LOL! The Taste of Memphis is my favorite collection of chocolates. Overall, I gained 50 pounds from these chocolates and I'll happily gain 50 more. LOL!

For me, a complete waste of money. Like I said, this is my opinion. All the chocolates tasted exactly the same. There was absolutely no way to distinguish between each flavor. I could have spent $100 on Any other drug store brand and have had the same experience. They were very pretty,..they arrived quickly,..but what a disappointment in taste. Cadbury chocolate tastes sooo much better, to me, than this chocolate. I would not recommend.

This was first attending an event at this store and I must say I was very pleased. The chocolates were delightful and very tasteful. They not only make their own chocolates and serve lunches as well hot teas and coffees. Its a very exquisite place and great for meetings and small gatherings.

I'm so disappointed in this place. I ordered chocolates in November for Christmas gifts. They didn't arrive by Christmas, so on December 30 I cancelled my order and asked for a refund. I've written several times because the phone number is not in service. I still haven't gotten my refund, and now I'm not even getting a response to my messages. I honestly don't understand how anyone thinks this is good business practice.

Feeling like I got scammed. I wish I never tried to support this business. I ordered chocolates from Phillip Ashley based on a a lovely experience we had meeting him in Napa. I ordered a $130 box of chocolate for a Christmas present for my husband. I understood that when I ordered on August 30, that this was a pre-order to be shipped mid November. As of today December 22, I have no box of chocolates to give to my husband for Christmas. I am very disappointed with this business. I have been communicating with the owner via Instagram since late November. He assured me several times that my order would be received on time. Then he posted on Instagram that he was going to discontinue doing small orders, and only accepting business/luxury gift orders. I reached out to the owner again on Instagram and asked for a refund since it was clear that I was not going to receive my order for Christmas. His response was very rude, and he stated that he was still going to ship outstanding orders, but asked me for my PayPal so that he could send me a refund anyway. That was several days ago and I followed up again, and still I have no product or refund. I have reached out to him two days in a row, now regarding the status of my refund, And it's crickets. I really didn't want to give this kind of review, as I never wanted to bring down a black owned business. But please do yourself a favor, and avoid this business. I guess since he's no longer doing small individual orders, he should run into less problems with fulfilling orders. I will be going to my credit card company to initiate a claim to get my money back.

Like many, I ordered the chocolate turtles after ABC World News broadcast on 12/17/21. Similarly experienced receipt of several emails with explanations. Reached out on Phillip Ashley website chat feature multiple times and received ~95% response rate. Order arrived just under 9months after order placement. Although the company had valid & understandable delays (pandemic, weather, supply chain), the company should have immediately given the option for a refund, once it was determined they would not be able to meet demand in a timely fashion. NEGATIVE 5 STARS for the delay and lack of easy refund option. Communication as time went on became 100% better than a couple of emails over 3 months. With the chat feature, got notification of mailing and received product the next day. 3 STARS for overall Communication. Box of 8 turtles (4 milk chocolate 4 dark chocolate) was shipped in a thermal insulated bag with cold packets, enclosed in a larger box. The inside of the bag was a cool 63degrees, ensuring the turtles were not melted during this cross country trip to a 74degree western state. 5 STARS for shipping. The turtles tasted pretty good. The "new" design (upside-down fluted cupcake shape 3" diameter 1" high) turtle, although different than traditional turtles and stylish, was difficult to eat. The 1" thickness made it difficult to get a good bite from top to bottom. I ended up biting a little from the top, then a little from the bottom, then repeat. By doing this, one really notices the bottom bite is only going to be a thick layer of chocolate. A flatter turtle would be easier to eat. The caramel has a consistency of corn syrup, which I confirmed, was the intended design. 3.5 STARS for taste & eatability. For the price point, $69.00 I really expected spectacular taste and presentation. It was well presented but lacking it spectacular taste. Overall experience 3 STARS

I finally received a message from Mr. Rix on December 29 stating the status of my order was changed to "awaiting shipment". I have reached out to the company via email and Instagram, but have yet to receive a response or the package that was paid for last year!

Phillip's chocolates are one of a kind and melt in your mouth. The variety box is my favorite. You never know what to expect from the flavors but one thing is for certain...they're going to taste good. The best part was the after taste. I WANT MORE!!!

Through no fault of the company, there was a mishap with delivery but the team was prompt at responding and immediately filed a claim with UPS. Although a day late due to the mishap, my friend received his chocolates and absolutely loves them thus far. He's been raving how gorgeous and tasty they are! I would highly recommend to anyone willing to splurge for a special (or a "treat yourself") occasion!

Save your money. Although I've had positive experiences with PA in the past, this past experience was enough to inspire this review (which I could give zero stars). Placed order two weeks ago - credit card charged, received immediate confirmation email but crickets ever since. Sent an inquiring email last week and have last two voice mail messages with no response. Just sent an email to a different email address requesting a refund. Only today do I peruse the reviews on Yelp. Not sure what happened since I last ordered PA chocolates in early 2022 but I'm done with them. Hope I don't need to go in-person to their sketchy shop in midtown Memphis to request my $100 refund...will be sticking with See's candies in the future.

If the time frame of waiting for a product exceeds what a lot of customer's consider to be average (more than a month) that information should be posted on the website prior to orders being placed - transparency is everything! I placed my order on Dec 18, 2020 and after numerous emails, I FINALLY received them today; they are very delicious, but an eight month delay?! I waited because I wanted to patronize a black owned company, but honestly, I couldn't see myself placing another order or referring anyone to them in the future. I do wish them well....

We are 2 months before December 25th 2021 and I have yet to see my order or a personal response beside the system generated generic response. Has anyone received their order from last December?
