"Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s girls, Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey McGraw, recommended this store to us—it’s a kid’s dream come to life: There are toys crammed in every nook and cranny of this shop. You will find no big-brand toys here—it’s been here forever, full of costumes, books, and wooden toys. Reese Witherspoon used to come here with her grandparents. GP's kids could have spent an entire day in this shop and would get excited at the very mention of the word “Phillip’s.”"

Phillips Toy Mart blew our mind! High quality toys at a great price! It felt like we stepped back in time when we could actually afford stuff, very reasonably priced! My daughter was so happy to see their huge selection of DOUGLAS brand stuffed animals. Highly recommend!! They have something for every age group!

The best toy store ever! The staff can always help you find the perfect toy for a gift. It is also endless entertainment for kids. They have a train set my kids just love .

Phillips is my go to toy store.. my wife and I have been coming here for years and adore the selection and age range of toys. They have literally everything you could imagine.. in our digital age where online shopping dominates we make sure to support such an amazing place to go and browse what you might get your little ones or family member a toy they will cherish.

I’m all about tradition and making memories with my kiddos. What I’m not about is blatant animal abuse and neglect. Please reconsider the yearly bunny install. It teaches our children that animals are entertainment. I came into Phillips today for the third time since we moved to Nashville and was appalled to see bunnies and not just bunnies but poorly cared for bunnies. They were scared and I would be too in a loud environment being over handled. Water was low and dirty and there was waste everywhere. I will be contacting local news outlets. Judging by the comments on your instagram, I’m not alone. If you’re reading this, please know that these rabbits don’t have outdoor access and are killed come Easter. Horrific and shameful. *edit: please don’t believe a thing you read in this business’ reply. I’m absolutely mortified by the ignorance in Phillips response. No ethical breeder would sell their animals in a parking lot for crying out loud. American circuses have gotten rid of animal entertainment yet Phillips would like to remain in the 60s. Please take yourself to Magpies and Katy’s hallmark right down the block. You’ll find a joyful toy selection at both amazing small businesses that don’t rely on animal cruelty to be successful. To the ownership & marketing team at Phillips, we’re still waiting on you to a. Provide the name of this fabulous breeder and b. Give the name of the veterinarian responsible for their care. I urge you to be compassionate, contact local rabbit rescues (there are plenty) & make a better decision when Easter rolls around next year for the sake of the innocent (& terrified) rabbits but also your young customers.

Amazing customer service and such a variety of things to choose from! I got some gifts and it was fun to browse the aisle and see what all they had! I love how they are picking up on the trend of blind boxes too! Hopefully next time I come back they might have more!

My family has been going to Phillips Toy Mart for over 4 generations now! It’s an absolute treasure! My father grew up going to this Toy mart to pick out his Christmas list to send off to Santa and as did I. I now have the pleasure of doing the same with my daughters. There is a great selection of toys for all ages with great guaranteed prices!

Ready to go back in time to your childhood? Well, if so, stop in here; they have a time machine at the front door. They've been i. Business since 1946. And, this store is filled with toys and goodies from the past; so whether you're looking for that special toy you as was wanted as a child or looking to get one for you kids or grandchildren, so you reminisce about days gone by, this is your store. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Yelp
This place is a fond memory from childhood, and now that I've finally checked it out as an adult I won't ever shop for the kids in my life anywhere else! This store is historic, nostalgic, and totally affordable! I regret not stopping in sooner!! Also, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly :)

Yelp
My son LOVES this toy store!! We can spend hours weaving in and around the aisles and watching the big model train set move around. Plenty of great toys for all ages and surprisingly great kids' books too.

K L.

Yelp
Toy paradise! This is a really great experience for kids and adults. My son loves being able to push a kids size cart as we shop. The train display is also a big highlight. The store employees are really helpful if you're looking for ideas. They're also super kind about kids touching and playing with items in the store. Most of the pricing is really standard. Yes, you may find something on Amazon for a few dollars less, but I think part of what you are paying for is a great in store experience! Normally parking on the side of the building is easy, but I have seen it fill up at Christmas time.

Yelp
I love this place. William always takes care of us. All I have to do is call him and he places orders for anything I need. I know I can buy from Amazon at better prices, but I can't get customer service from anybody better than I can with William. I'm picking up an Academy 1/35 ROK Black Panther tomorrow. Can't wait to open that up. Reminds me of when we had full service gas stations. Something we need more of these days

Yelp
What can one say about the GREATEST toy store EVER in Nashville! And it's been all that for such a long time. Amazing toys, fantastic customer service, and just plain fun to shop there. I could say I shop there for my grandkids, but I don't have any. I go there so I myself can see the toys, so who am I kidding? Thanks, Phillips Toy Mart, for continuing the grand legacy of true toy stores!

Yelp
My niece just turned 1, and since it's been a while since I have even stepped into a toy store I had no idea what to get her. I've seen the sign for Phillips a dozen times and decided it would be worth a shot to see if they could give me any ideas or inspiration. I was so impressed the minute I walked in. The sheer amount of toys (which should not have surprised me) is astounding. Someone working here could tell almost instantly that I was a little overwhelmed, and she helped me pinpoint the type of toy I wanted, my price range, and a few suggestions that helped me narrow down my options. After FaceTiming family to see which toys my niece already had, I left with a gift I felt excited to give to her. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and I was surprised by how great the prices were. They clearly know what they are doing. The employees here helped me simplify a daunting task, and I greatly appreciate the help they provided.

Kahla S.

Yelp
Came here one day with the kids that I watch and was so impressed with how well they treated them. We were looking for birthday ideas for the older one and a staff member took him around the shop and helped him find things. The staff made our experience there so great that the kids talked about it all week. You can tell that the staff absolutely loves their job! We will definitely be back

Yelp
I've been here twice since moving to Nashville in 1998 and both times it's impressed me. They have a good variety of toys, but the most impressive is the train stuff. They have a train set up and many different train parts. Including the BRIO trains (and compatible) which was the reason we were here. They also have a lot of games, and other toy varieties. Not a lot of any one thing. Since they don't have the same amount of shelf space as an old school Toy'R'Us you might show up and they DON'T have specifically what you are looking for. For example the selection of Doll House items felt meager compared to the TRAIN stuff which prompted my better half to somewhat bitterly accuse them of being more boy oriented. (though I don't personally believe that to truly be the case) Overall, if you are looking for a Toy Store in Nashville Phillips Toy Mart is worth a stop.

Annie B.

Yelp
I loved this place. So. Many. Toys. Something for literally everyone! It was so cool and the employees seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. It was clean and tidy, the organization made my heart happy. There were lots of workers around but not so many that they were worrisome, just super helpful and cheerful. I loved that the prices weren't that bad, I honestly expected them to be a lot higher. My nephews were able to each find something nice to buy themselves for under $20. I really enjoyed visiting this store and will definitely return, I highly recommend taking the kids in your life!

Yelp
When I was a kid I shopped Phillips Toy Mart all the time. I'm not even going to get onto how great they were back then as it doesn't matter, they're great right now. As I got a bit older, they were not quite aimed at me and what I wanted, they had a little bit more of a selection for older kids and younger kids, I strayed away to Toys-R-Us as they generally had exactly what I was looking for, and Phillips was sort of hit or miss when it came to overly-advertised-children's-toy-of-the-month, and video games... they did not have them. I went in out a sense of nostalgia recently... I'd sort of stayed out of the place for the past 15 or so years as honestly, lone male in a toy store that does not sell video games as far as I know, just looking around seemed a bit "creeper" to me, that and I was never really in that area. So I made it better by being lone male in toy store on a motorcycle. The place is still amazing. I'm not too sure how current they are toy-wise, don't know if the things they have are on the cusp or the waning side of freshdom, but the place is great. I did not recognize the store at all as it's been completely overhauled since I was a kid (used to be a hole in the wall section where you went for geological kits and stone-buffers, a weird shelf of bikes, Micronaughts, etc) now it's a little less explosive and a little more "oooh" Yeah, sorry, I can't write this review without making sounds of glee. I'd encourage people to check it out for themselves, you'll see how something that's not corporate toys can compete. But also, maybe I'm looking through nostalgia glasses and putting an extra buff on the place that isn't there. It still is a good toy store even if I do have my Nostalgovision(tm) glasses set on 11.

Yelp
My review for Phillips Toy Mart is long overdue. Growing up I used to spend my summers in Nashville and since my grandparents lived right down the street from Phillips Toy Mart, I often passed by it, but I never got to visit the place. That was until I moved up here and visited the store for the first time. They have everything! Models, toy trains (with a working model train system), games, and unique toys you won't find anywhere else. However, for me I have gone there for the model making supplies. When I moved up here, I was very much into Eureka Seven and I even hunted down, purchased and assembled all four models that I could find on ebay. As part of assembling them, I also had to paint them. Easy no? Not exactly, you see as all 4 of these models were imports from Japan, the assembly instructions, and even the paint charts were in Japanese. So I had to guess what colors I needed, matching them the best I could with the swatches in the assembly instructions. The wonderful staff at Phillips Toy Mart not only helped me find everything I needed to assemble and paint the models, but even helped me color match the colors to their wide variety of model paints. Then when I had finished assembling and painting all the models, they helped me find a place that sold cases that could fit them for display purposes. The customer service here is wonderful, and the selection is wide and varied. About the only thing they don't carry are video games, but I have another mom n pop store I frequent for that. Be that as it may, Phillips Toy Mart has been and always will be my first stop for model making supplies, toys and games for all ages. Now if only they carried some Japanese import models.

Yelp
Phillips Toy Mart is a classic toy store with great and unexpected toy options - a little bit of everything, something for every kid (of every age). We stopped by to look for a board game for as a gift for an adult for Christmas. They didn't have the game (we were there two days before Christmas and they either don't carry it or had sold out), but I found lots of other things I'd have loved to look at if we weren't in a hurry! Such a fun store! I'd love to stop by another time when it's not as crowded!!

Erica L.

Yelp
This store reminds me of my childhood. I came in today with my twin 5 year olds to buy a birthday present for their friend. We walked every aisle and were greeted by several employees. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, we felt so welcome there. Also a plus, the variety of new and vintage toy selection! We'll definitely support this small business for all of our toy purchases in the future!

Yelp
Oh, to be a kid again. I would have begged my mom to take me here every day! Seriously, if I was this mesmerized at 31, I can only imagine what 6 year olds must think. This is the mecca of toy stores. Locally owned, this has been a favorite Nashville store for years. They have all the fun new toys (but nice ones, no cheap crap) as well as the oldies but goodies--think Lincoln Logs, Playmobil, Tinker Toys, etc. Also--the model train is NOT to be missed! They have a pretty cool one set up in the store. The model section of the store is for kids and adults alike, and is pretty extensive. Everything from cars to trains to planes, surely there is something for the model enthusiast in your family! If you are looking for quality toys for kids or kids at heart, check out this excellent toy shop.

Yelp
This toy store is so fun! Even for an adult! My kids love to come here and who can blame them?! There is a huge train set WITH a conductor tower that kids can climb up in! There are toys everywhere and interactive displays for kids to play with. At Easter they have live bunnies that you can pet and an artist that does silhouettes for a fee. They also have free gift wrap! The only downside is checking out, it is so slow. Even if I am the only person in line, it seems to take forever. I've been here several times and it is slow every single time . This is the only reason for 4/5 stars. They are totally 5 stars on everything else!!
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
This place is a total child's dream! We went in to see the bunnies that they have in their shop each Easter season. This itself was a really fun thing to do, but I appreciated the fact that they had toys set up throughout the store for my child to enjoy. She played with a little woodland creature dollhouse, a train set, read a book, and finally selected the perfect stuffed animal for me to purchase and take home to love on. I can't wait to go back as she gets older and starts to appreciate the wide selection of toys for all levels of childhood. PS - the really cool dual train set that runs through tunnels and towns was so fun to watch!
google avatar

Carolyn S.

Yelp
So much fun; so many games, books, toys and adventures await you in this store! People want to help and point out new toys and they are very knowledgeable about the inventory! Bring your kid (I would recommend only one at a time because they'll touch everything)

Yelp
As a surprise for great grades, I took my kids to Phillips toy mart after school today. Upon walking in to the store we were greeted with a rude statement from a male staff member. Despite his rudeness I let my children browse since I had promised the treat for good grades. The store was very cramped. Not 5 minutes pass before a child runs out of nowhere directly into my cart. Her father comes up as Im checking on her and glares at me like Im satan reincarnated. We left our cart in the middle of the store and walked out. Rude staff. Rude clientele. What a damper on the day. We won't be back.

Yelp
What a wonderland! Every city should be so lucky to have a treasure like Phillips Toy Mart. The staff is kid, informed and helpful. And did I say tolerant and patient, yet?! Because that should be the A#1 reason to visit PTY. You can bring your kids, and the folks working there encourage play and exploration. To quote Ariel, there are gadgets and gizmos aplenty, and whoseits and whatsits galore! And provided your child is polite and with a responsible grown-up, it's okay for them to check it all out. There are some great sections for dolls, puppets, books, art, trucks and stuffed animals. The piece-de-resistance is an intricate train set with cool working parts and buttons little ones (and adults!) can push to activate windmills, crossing bars, etc. Additionally, there is a whole section for holiday-themed gifts. If you need stocking stuffers for a kid or a kid-at-heart, PTY is the place!

Yelp
What a teriffic neighborhood toy store. Phillips Toy Mart has such a wide variety of fun toys that it was difficult to choose one or two for our daughter, a toddler. Everything is so awesome and the selection is great. If only they had a bit more space to showcase their toys. I really dislike those big box stores, but to just a few more and wider aisles at Phillips would approach toy heaven. They have the newer toys they also carry some classics from my generation. My husband and I both enjoyed our trip down memory lane. He has told me he was a train and model rocket boy, and appears to still be. Great times, but makes it a challenge to keep focused on the reason for our shopping trip! After several minutes of walking down almost every aisle and both pointing out many fun delights, be were able to choose a cute doll for our daughter. I loved dolls as a girl and it appears that she takes after me. As both sets of grandparents have already filled her room and a guest bedroom closet with a plethora of 'big box' playthings, it feels good to buy her that special doll, which hopefully she can pass down to her daughter one day. We also found a cool educational game for her. We plan on doing a significant part of this year's Christmas shopping at Phillips.
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
What a great place to bring the kids. They have a very wide variety of non-traditional toys and specialty items in all price ranges. My kids have never asked me here if they can leave this store.
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
If there is a nirvana of toys, this is it. What a toy store should be, and used to be. This place reminds me of some of the great German toy stores of Munich. Great O gauge train section with a layout with a drive-in theater.
google avatar

Judith D.

Yelp
I love this toy store. This is a great place to just walk around and look at different toys that are available. There are lots of choices of games (for adults and kids), wagons, educational toys, trucks, and books. They have a large train set-up with lots of buttons for little kids to press (and raise and lower drawbridges, etc). They also have several small train tables set up for playing. My only complaint is that the aisles always feel cramped. This store would be even more awesome if it had twice as much space for the same amount of merchandise.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Our list of nieces and nephews grew over the last year and continues to grow, so when I saw a place that looked like a genuine mom and pop toy store, I wanted to go in. I'm always on the lookout for unique and fun gifts for the kids in our family. This place may get a rouse out of kids, but I wasn't impressed. I'm a real kid at heart and wanted to be blown away, so maybe my high expectations just automatically set me up to be disappointed. The place had a few multi language toddlers' games and toys that I thought were neat and couldn't think of anywhere else you could possibly buy another like it. If you're looking to get a train set started up for a son or nephew, this is a great place to start. They even have the paints. Other than this, I just wasn't as blown away as I wanted to be. I can get Barbies at Walmart, I'm looking for the piano on the floor like in the movie Big, and those huge stuffed animals.
google avatar

Vance F.

Yelp
This place is amazing. What I mean is... stop getting your kids the same old video game stuff. They have unique and very fun toys. The staff is very nice and fun. Not to mention helpful. Prices are very reasonable. Plus local business! I found myself playing with all the toys as well. Made Me want to make more kids!!!

Susie Q.

Yelp
Neat store awesome staff ... the store does seem a little cramped but they have a huge selection.

Yelp
Phillips Toy Mart is the ultimate toy store. Way better than ToysRUs and a lot less commercial. This is where to go if you don't want to worry about lead paint and things being made in china. Yeay for mom & pops!
google avatar

Claire B.

Yelp
It's not just a toy store for kids - there's also toys for adults, including collectible dolls, including Madame Alexander. I love to go and watch the train sets. There's every accessory imaginable and it kind of makes me wish I had a kid so I'd have an excuse to build a really cool huge one!
google avatar

A M.

Yelp
This toy store is very nice. They lean towards more classic toys rather than trendy items. So if that's what you're interested in, this may be a good place for you to shop. It's interactive and they have toys on display that children can actually test out. Their moving model train display is an impressive sight. It's a fun shopping experience for children. However, a lot of the staff isn't particularly friendly.
google avatar

Melanie W.

Yelp
This is a great toy shop that has been here for a long time, my boyfriend remembers picking out toys here when he was a wee one, so it's wonderful that we now get to buy toys for our son at this Nashville treasure. They have a large array of toys, really anything you can think of, puzzles, books, dolls, trains....a lot of classic as well as modern toys. We were even able to find a highly limited set of large Madame Alexander dolls that were themed after The Wizard of Oz that we gifted an adult and she absolutely adored them. Please come take a look, there's a little something for everyone here and it'll definitely bring out your inner child.

Candice P.

Yelp
The best toy shop I've ever been in!!! So much charm but packed with so many amazing toys. My son had the best time playing with the interactive toys and shopping around. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
As two grown men over 6 feet tall, we felt like creeps admiring the selection here, but know where to come if we're in need of some esoteric gifts for the youngsters in our lives.

Yelp
Its holiday time kids, which means time to rack up some debt on your credit cards for the latest and greatest toys! Rather than hitting up some crazy mall or giant box toy store, I always start my kid and stocking shopping at Phillips. They have a great selection of thoughtful toys at reasonable prices. Phillips is a mainstain in Belle Meade and excels in toys for hands on tots. While the foot print in small - 1400 feet? - they have packed the place to the rafters with great toys for kids. The rows are intuitively designed and have ample space for kids to shop, sit and pick their selections. The biggest draw for years was the giant train set they have in operation with an attached look out tower which is fun for parents and kids alike. Phillips is the place to go for old school toys, stuffed animals, models (think glue huffing putting Cameros together, not Heidi Klum), puzzles, costumes, dolls and educational toys. This is a wonderful location for kids 10 and under who are artistic, creative and looking for some old school good toys that are built to last. What you won't find here is the latest Xbox games, videos, bikes, Wii or other 'device' oriented toys. I'd wager 80% of the place is filled with battery-less toys, games and knick nacks. In addition to the throw back toys, theres a great selection of old school candy by the register and every Easter they pack the place with live bunnies for extra joy. They could absolutely up their game by truly personalizing this nitch shopping experience by providing free gift wrapping, but alas, the grinch seems to have run this part of the store which is populated by seriously over priced bags. Bottom line: Come here first for fun and out of the box items, try to hit it during they day to avoid the weekend mayhem and BYOgiftwrapping. Also, don't buy a bunny. Those things poop like mad.

Yelp
Very unique toy store, with a great variety of toys that also included some educational ones for the kids. I like the locally owned toy store vibe, as well as all the different options available. Cant wait to bring our kids here and let them spend all our money! Will update a review when that happens!
google avatar

Aprile M.

Yelp
Such a cool toy store. They have lots of toys that you can't find at toys r us or other toy stores. We bought a wood marble run that is very neat. They have a ton of stuffed animals and dolls.

Jim H.

Yelp
Bergermeister Meisterberger would not like this store, but I love it and when I am in town on business I try to stop here to get something for the grandkids. They have a great train layout, a good selection of Lionel Train sets and accessories. They also carry well made toys, dolls and stuffed animals for infants to adults.
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Everything is really crammed in this store. More display room would be nice. They really are busting at the seams in this little store. It's mass insanity when busy. They still have a lot of stuff that you can't find anywhere else in Nashville, but you certainly pay for it. Their parking lot is t.i.n.y. and a royal pain to get into and back out of when busy. Definitely go to their website and see if they have coupons available.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
Super clean, high class, reasonable prices and very unique items with tons of variety. Lots of display items for kids to try out and play with such as toy trains etc. Also a really nice display train set. My 22 month old loves this place and so do I !

Bill W.

Yelp
Totally old school look, feel and service. They actually have people here who want to help you. Every grandparent in Middle Tennessee should be a regular customer

Hannah D.

Yelp
I am totally a fan of this store. It is a mecca type of experience for toy connoisseurs for sure. Ummmm the cashiers at this store are SO RUDE! Seriously, you have an amazing store and obviously do well since you have been around since the dawn of man. What on earth? Toys R Us staff are more friendly than these folks who seem to hold you in contempt for any purchase. Odd experience for sure. Is it a snooty Belle Meade thing or something?? If my kids didn't love this place so much, I would never return...

TK N.

Yelp
I do love this store but clearly they do well enough that they don't need to have hours convenient for people who work. They don't open til 9 am close at 5:30pm leaving you with Saturday but no eve hours and no Sunday. I have to say it's caused us to head to brilliant sky in green hills not as big but similar nice toys and better hours.

S G.

Yelp
Phillips is a classic. It has a great selection but it's not so huge that you feel like you're shopping in an airplane hanger. It reminds me of the toy stores from when I was a kid. You should go just to see their enormous train set. Please buy a lot while you're there so that Phillips never goes out of business. It is a true gem.
