Philly G Steaks Review - Upper Westside - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Atlanta doesn't have many places that make cheesesteaks with Cheez Whiz, but Philly G is one of them, and that's why it's a must-hit in the Chattahoochee Food Works hall. Their simple blue, red, and white signage doesn’t exactly stand out amidst the clutter of the Upper Westside food hall. But the strong smell of ribeye sizzling on the grill and the scene of happy people taking huge bites of cheesesteaks at the counter will lure you over. Choose from three protein options (ribeye, chicken, or salmon), all served on Amoroso rolls with onions, american, provolone, Cheese Whiz, and mayo. We prefer the classic because the ribeye meat stays moist. And finish your Philly experience with some italian ice." - Juli Horsford

My Brother introduced me to this place and the day we visited they were debuting the "Jer-key" (a jerk turkey philly) and ever since that day that's all I order!! I add lettuce and tomato to the provolone, onions, mushrooms, and peppers. It's easy to dry out turkey of you are not careful but these guys make it juicy and with just the right amount of spice from the jerk seasoning. They have other menu items but, it's so good! with the beer batter onion rings and a ginger ale! Bright open clean atmosphere, walk up bar window, indoor and outdoor seating. Check them out!

We drove by this spot several times while shopping at Publix and always wanted to try. It looked packed and didn’t want to stand in line. Well, today we did and the “packed” that I saw was in fact true, and the flow of getting our order and receiving our order was fast! The food was sooo good! The atmosphere is a nice vibe, good music and very appropriate for the venue. We will most def be back!

The atmosphere and vibe of this place is on point. Open, airy, well lit, very modern. The bar in the middle is open to the inside and outside. The cheesesteak was on point. It was tasty, meaty and well seasoned. I ate the entire steak and fries that were also seasoned well and hot. I will definitely be back.

I am so crazy about this place. The ambiance, staff and food is on point! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. And what can I say about the Burger!!! I’ve been twice in one week because it is so good!!! You must try it out. My pictures may not do it justice but definitely make a point to try this place. If you know about Miss Ann’s burger on Memorial Drive and miss it. This is the BEST substitute.

I debated trying this out but did since the ratings were very good. Chicken eggrolls were delicious. The ambience very comfortable with monitors on to watch sports. Would have given 5 stars but the bartender forgot to bring my drink. Ordered the Philly Cheesesteak for my husband and he loved it! I ordered the salad to go with the lemon vinaigrette dressing, it was one of the best salads I’ve had. It was clean and flavorful. Almost forgot, the Pina Colada was tasty and potent. This place will most likely have a wait as the weather gets warmer because of the walk-up bar and the cool vibe.

Google
Cool place for a drink and meal. Innovation indoor outdoor bar. Indoor and very nice outdoor seating is available. We had the Ribeye Philly steak, chicken sandwich, “G” Cheeseburger with jalapeños and fries. All were very good. There definitely was a nice southern twist to the Philly sandwich shop. Prices were a little higher than similar restaurants in this very crowded field. I would like to come back in the evening for a light meal and drinks.

I sat outside at the bar area with my dog and ordered to go (the outside bar and seating is soo nice and convenient!) the bartender was attentive taking care of guest while keeping the area/grounds clean and he had great customer service didn’t get his name but he had on a libra necklace.. 5 stars from me I’ll definitely be back for more😝

Yelp
Wow! I had such a great experience at Philly G Steaks. The food was flavorful and the staff was friendly, the cook even had a small conversation with us. Our bartender, Bryan made a reposado margarita and it was so fresh. They were so accommodating to us and our 6 month old baby. Our food was hot and delicious! We will be back!

Yelp
Philly G Steaks has been under construction for a while, and finally opened up recently. It's a really nice spot with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Their staff were pretty friendly and welcoming. No complaints there. I got a standard beef cheesesteak, and I have to say, it was quite good. My only complaint is that the peppers and onions were a bit undercooked. They probably are just trying to get the food out fast, but I would have waited for the veggies to be a bit more cooked.

Yelp
So I was craving something sweet. I came in wanting a milk shake..but can't bare to pay $14. So I decided on peach cobbler. Just plain awful, like I really want to climb out of bed, get dressed, risk the cold air hitting me and go get a refund. This is so nasty. Now I am a baker so I am just used to nutmeg, butter and sugar ...this definitely taste worse than frozen Marie Callender. I usually visit for the salmon Philly. Venture out and got the egg rolls tonight. I won't try that again.

Yelp
Located in the Chatahoochee Food works. The service is quick and to the point. The Chatahoochee Foodworks is a large foodhall with high ceilings and several places to seat. The only concern you have here is being tempted by the other vendors if you want to eat here or not. I will tell you that of the places I have gotten Philly Cheese Steaks in Atlanta, this is one of my favorites. Mostly due to them using cheese sauce and provolone as cheese options. For extra flavor, you can get both. They have ice water as well, which is a Philly staple. The last time I went, I got two diet cokes and instead of just pasing them to me, they put them in the freezer with the ice water to wait until my sandwich came out to give it some extra chill time. I really apprecaited this. They have a counter to sit at and it's fun to watch the chef cook the cheesesteaks. Overall, I would rank this as one of Atlanta's better Cheesesteaks. I would rank Woody's or Weeyums among the top with them. The only thing shorting PhllyG is that their sandwiches are 10" but Weeyums is bigger. So...size matters? Either way, I'm usually pretty satisfied when i leave here and usually crave more later. Definitly better for being on the west side of Atlanta.

Yelp
This was my second time eating their food and it never disappoints! You cannot go wrong with ordering the classic Philly.. could be one of the best Phillys I've ever had. Unfortunately it is a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. The fried chicken sandwich is to die for! Lastly, the customer service is always top notch. They are all so friendly and welcoming here. Definitely makes me want to keep coming back!

Yelp
There was a long ass hair in the cheesesteak. They didn't give us our cheesecake after we ordered it. The salmon was very fishy.. I didn't like it.

Nikki M.

Yelp
Bread was a bit hard, but overall ok. It's a standard Philly. Nothing I would call home about though.

Yelp
Ribeye cheesesteak was the bomb and the peach cobbler was off the chart!!! There is a very friendly atmosphere and the customer service was excellent. This was my first visit and I will definitely be back Saturday for brunch to get the breaded whole wings. Food, service and ambiance were great. Very satisfied customer

Yelp
I had the salmon Philly cheese steak . It was dry . I don't think they put any mayo on it . That mess was dry and made my throat dry . There fries are good though overall waste of $22 dollars.

Lin B.

Yelp
Good cheese steaks, but a bit pricey. And quite a long wait the day I was there. The service was slow but friendly.

Yelp
I was at Philly G Steaks on 2/1/25 and received poor service the female taking orders seemed to be new because of how she was being advised on how to use the hand held device anyway her skills were terrible and she had no patience on how to take one customer at a time before acting though she was the one paying that pissed me off so I don't recommend places with bad customer service, period.

Yelp
Food was great and so was customer service. I had the regular philly and the meat was seasoned and the fries were good as well. The meat to bread ratio was good. Ive driven past this place a few times. As long as the quality and customer service doesn't change, I will get my Phillys from here now on.

Yelp
Excellent service, and the food is just as amazing! I highly recommend it. I wish we had a Philly G Steaks in Rhode Island. Well done, guys! Next time I'm in town, I'll be stopping by.

Yelp
Amazing service and food. After eating we even got another two cheesesteaks to go. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Philly G Cheesesteaks is really trying to make a good impression with delicious food and wonderful people working there. But if the food was a little cheaper and the menu was easier to choose from, I think even more people would love to eat there. It's a place that's still figuring things out, but it has a lot of potential to be a favorite spot for everyone in the neighborhood. If you're hungry for a cheesesteak, you might be surprised by how much it costs. This dainty sandwich is about $17, and that doesn't include anything else like fries or a drink. If you want a complete meal, it could cost around $30. Even the cocktails are a bit on the pricier side. The menu has a lot of choices, but maybe it would be better to just focus on making the best cheesesteak they can. And get rid of items like $14 milkshakes. Since Philly G's is new on this side of town, it would be nice if they had some special deals to introduce themselves. This way, more people could try their food without spending a lot of money.

Yelp
Great service, great cheesesteak. The best Cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly. Glad they are part of the neighborhood!

Yelp
Might be the best fried chicken sandwich and onion rings I've ever had. The cheesesteaks are great, the egg rolls are excellent, but the chicken sandwich blew me away.

Yelp
The food is good but the set up is confusing. It's not exactly fast food even though the menu is a fast food kind of menu. Everything is a la carte and on the pricy side considering the kind of food they offer. I had a ribeye Philly and it was good and a nice size but $16.95 is a bit much especially since it doesn't come with a side or drink. You have to order at the bar and almost compelled to tip.

Yelp
My Server was amazing. I made a to go order from the bar. I was excited because it was new in our area and the ambiance provides something we did not have. Welp $15 later for a milkshake my son preferred Freddy's for half the price. We got home ready to enjoy our food on the patio. My onions were greasy and soggy, my egg rolls were mildly burnt and hard. The salmon Philly had a decent flavor but was slim and dry. This is was our first time and $50 later I can't see myself returning unless someone else is paying and we sit in to see if it's a different experience
